Endless 6

========================================================================

Mike walked into Marc's room with some flowers, an Elmo doll,
and a card. Marc was sitting upright in his bed reading. He
turned to look up at Mike as he entered the room.

"I don't think you should be here." Marc turned his head
away from Mike as he felt the tears start coming.

"I... I'm sorry." Mike sighed and closed the door.

"Please... just go... I can't see you right now." Marc reached
up to wipe some tears away.

"I'm sorry... Marc... can we talk? Please?" Mike slowly
walked towards the bed.

He set everything down with the myriad of other gifts Marc had
received during his stay. He pulled up a chair next to Marc
and sat down. He felt his own tears brim to the surface.

"Look... can you just please leave... I can't talk to
you right now... I can't see you right now... please." Marc
reached up to wipe away some more tears.

Mike gently took his hand in his. He reached up with his free
hand and brushed Marc's tears away. Marc pushed Mike's hand
away and still wouldn't turn to look at him.

"I'm sorry... what else do you want me to say?" he wiped his
own tears away as he sat back in the chair.

"I don't want you to say anything. I just want you to
leave me alone. I don't want to see you right now. I
don't want you here. Just go, okay?" Marc stared off
towards the ceiling as tears flowed freely down his
cheeks.

"I love you." Mike stated simply. He tried to reach
for Marc's hand again.

"DON'T SAY SHIT LIKE THAT!" Marc finally turned to face
Mike as he raised his voice.

"I mean it. I love you." Mike reached over and tried for
Marc's hand again.

"You're not *like* that, remember?" Marc reminded Mike bitterly.

"I was confused. But I love you... I have for a long time."
Mike slumped in his seat and let his tears fall.

"Dude, just go..." Marc's voice cracked as he turned his
face away again.

"For the longest time... I've wanted to be with you for
the longest time and when you... when you held me... and
when you... when you tried to kiss me... I got scared
okay... and I was gonna talk to you and I was gonna
tell you and then they told me... and then I couldn't
stop crying and I just feel guilty because of what
happened cuz its my fault." Mike's tears flowed freely
as he spoke. He didn't bother to even try to wipe them.

Marc sat in silence, head turned towards the window. He
still refused to look over at his once best friend. The
one person who he had already admitted his love for sat
confessing similar feelings and Marc didn't know what
to make out of the whole mess.

"Please say something." Mike pleaded in response to
Marc's silence.

He slipped his hand into Marc's own and squeezed. No
comforting squeeze came back from Marc's part. He
simply turned his head and looked at Mike with
puffy, red eyes.

At least it was something. Mike's spirit climbed up
just a bit in hopes that Marc would forgive him and
give him a chance to start over.

Slowly Marc withdrew his hand from Mike's and set
it over his other on his lap. He slowly turned his
head back and continued to stare out of the window
at the world he had tried desperately to leave.

"Marc... I love you... please..." Mike pleaded
further.

Still no answer. Marc wouldn't even so much as acknowledge
his presence. Mike couldn't even read him any more. After
spending years of friendship and developing that intimate
bond of being able to read each other it was lost on him.

They both sat in silence. The occasional sniffling from
Mike broke the silence. Marc ignored it. Mike remained
quiet hoping and yearning that Marc would say something.
Hoping and waiting for Marc to forgive him.

Marc still sat unmoving, unresponsive to his best friend's
crying. After waiting for what seemed to stretch for an
eternity Mike stood up to leave.

"I love you..." Mike offered as he shut the door behind
him.

Sorry all that this is taking forever for me to finish. I'm
starting to clear my muddled head and come off this huge
writer's block thats been plagueing me. But hopefully I'll
keep myself inspired to write. Thanks for being so patient
with me and the story.
