The Cost of Love

Part 3

Bob read Eric the directions given to him by Mark to help them find the
beach cottage at Raumati. They had just passed through Paraparaumu. "Turn
onto the next road on the right until we reach the shops, then turn left."
Eric turned off State Highway 1 "I've only been in this car once before,
now its mine." Bob's declaration sounded more like that of a trophy winner.

Eric grinned. "I can't wait to see you behind the wheel."

"Now look out for number 67, it should be on the right," Bob said as they
turned the corner and carefully examined the letter boxes of the passing
houses. "There it is," he shouted. Eric saw a small brick house in the
center of a large lawn. He stopped in front of the door from which emerged
Andy and Mark with welcoming cries. They both hugged Eric and Bob and took
them into the lounge. It was a large room furnished with easy chairs, a
convertible settee and a baby grand piano. Two bedrooms were off one side
and the kitchen and bathroom with the toilet and a wet area off the
other. Floor to ceiling windows with ranch slider doors opened onto the
back lawn and the sand-hills, beyond which they heard sound of the sea.

"Had a good trip?" Mark asked as he took the bags into the bedroom which
looked out onto the back lawn.

"Great," Eric replied, "the car is a beauty, very comfortable with a quiet
powerful motor. I envy Bob."

Andy's delight at seeing Bob again was apparent and his persistent chatter
gave Bob few opportunities to speak. Then he realised his verbosity. "Shut
up Andy, as usual you talk too much," he said to himself.

Bob grinned. "I don't mind, I keep telling myself, 'this is your brother,
for better for worse'." He hugged Andy. "I believe I like him more every
time I see him. I wonder what he thinks of me?"

"I'll tell you later," Andy replied as he followed Eric and Mark into the
bedroom. Eric tested the springs of the bed.

"Bob's sex is very energetic, I would hate to have the bed collapse.

"Not a chance, it has been tested many times by Andy's randy mates," Mark
replied.

"And yours darling," Andy reminded him. "Now lunch is ready when you
are. The you-know-what is in the laundry, all mod cons provided these days
in beach cottages, no more long drops." Mark and Andy left them to unpack.

Eric and Bob changed into beach gear, brief shorts and unbuttoned floral
shirts, much the same as Andy and Mark were wearing. At the end of the
lounge, near the kitchen, was a large table set for lunch. Mark asked them
to be seated and to help themselves to the mixed salads, an assortment of
cold meats, tomatoes, boiled potatoes and bread rolls.

"We thought you might like a swim this afternoon," Andy said. "Sorry we
have to wear togs near the houses. Tomorrow we will take you further along
the beach where you can be au naturel."

Eric's eyes lit up, "boy oh boy, at last I can indulge in skinny dipping.,
a rare treat."

Andy sniffed. "You can indulge in a lot more if you feel so inclined, but
be careful KY and sand is not a good combination. Mark took days to sooth
his damaged dick, poor mark."

"Your arse suffered too, it was sex prohibited 'til repairs completed,"
Mark added.

Bob giggled at the thought of them both responding to the demanded urges in
spite of the irritant.

"Tonight we dine with Paul and Peter. Paul wants to talk to Bob about the
estate and other things." Andy held Bob's arm. "I do hope you will be able
to accept Paul as a substitute father as I do. I know he treats me like a
son and maybe he might feel the same about you."

Bob felt that Andy had completely accepted him as a brother but was still
anxious that his expectations might not be fulfilled. He did not want to
pressured by Andy's plans for his involvement with Paul to be like his
own. Bob's experience of the father he had known left him not wanting a
repeat. It had been his mother who helped him make decisions and now that
he was on his own, he did not expect any help from others.

Wearing brightly coloured bikini briefs, they followed the track through
the sand-hills. The heavy perfume of flowering lupins and the periodic
explosions of ripe seed pods with the incessant metallic chirping of
cicadas filled the air. The oppressive heat from the sand suddenly lifted
as they reached the beach and a breeze off the sea. The broad shoulders,
narrow waist, muscular buttocks and thighs held Andy's admiration as he
followed Bob across the beach to the surf. His physique was superior to his
own and he was envious. He caught up to Bob. "I'll race ya," he shouted and
sped into the tumbling breakers. They dived under the waves to reach the
larger ones further out, then body surfed to the shore. Eric and Mark were
doing the same, hooting with delight as each wave swept them ashore. Bob
felt someone tugging at his briefs and they dropped to his ankles as a
large wave broke over him sweeping him off his feet. He saw them being
swept out to sea by the under-tow and heard Eric's gleeful laughter. Then
someone grabbed his cock and another jumped on top of him. He struggled to
reach the surface and air while they tried to duck each other. The melee
soon had them exhausted with each trying to escape to the shore. Bob
remained behind trying to hide his nudity under the water. Mark challenged
him to join them but Bob refused.

"There's no other way, we'll have to cover him," Mark said. "Come on guys
surround him until we get home." They returned to the surf and with Bob in
the middle, they linked arms enclosing him. There was much hilarity as bare
bodies buffeted Bob making him fully erect. The others were similarly
aroused stretching their briefs proving they were all well endowed. The
minute they were home they discarded their bikinis while Bob rushed into
the shower to remove the sand and salt water. The others joined him and
began to wash each other. Mark knelt in front of Andy and began to blow
him. Eric did the same to Bob. Once they had come, they swapped their
roles.

"That was might," Andy said. "Weren't you and Eric into sex?" he asked
Mark. "Do you want to revisit those days?"

Mark looked at Eric who shrugged his shoulders before turning to
Bob. "Should I, these guys are special and it was randy Mark who persuaded
me that it was Ok to enjoy gay sex."

Bob grinned, "Should brothers have sex?"

"Why not, I bet Andy would have been into your pants if you had grown up
together," Mark replied. "He can never get enough of it," he added as he
slapped Andy's bare bottom.

"He should talk, he's a bloody bull in bed," Andy replied derisively.

"Think about it guys," Mark said as he took a towel off the rail.

Bob saw a stack of CDs next to a portable radio-CD player and was sorting
them when Eric came looking for him.

"What have you discovered."

"Not our kind of music, its nearly all classics, mainly tenor's albums,"
Bob replied.

"Well what did you expect, Andy is considered to be one of the best up and
coming tenors."

The last disc was Andy's second album, 'Forever Yours'. "have you heard
this?" he asked Eric. "That disc was on the charts, they were raving about
it at school, specially the girls. I only listen to groups like the
BeeGees, Feelers, Boyzone and of course Tina Turner."

"Of course Tina Turner was your heart-throb. Shall we give Andy a burl?"
Bob did not wait for Eric's agreement as he loaded the player. The opening
number was 'Everlasting Love', the song that had made him famous. Bob had
not heard the disc before and listened intently. He liked it and followed
the words of each song printed in the accompanying booklet. He noticed that
they were all composed by Jeremy Weston. One called 'Everlasting Love' very
much appealed to him. He repeated it three times and began to sing along
with it. Another voice and the piano joined him, it was Mark.

"You like it?" Mark asked.

"Very much, there's something special about it. The words are unusual."

"I wrote them, it was after Andy thought I was more interested in another
guy and I thought I had lost him." Mark shuddered. "God I was devastated."

"You are very much in love?" Bob sought confirmation of what he already
believed.

"Completely, Andy means everything to me."

"Its not an infatuation then?"

Eric listening to Mark and Bob's conversation began to appreciate this was
a relationship far stronger than that which he felt for Bob.

"God no, our love is much deeper." Mark grinned. "You might find that hard
to believe the way we sometimes scrap, especially during practises."

Andy joined them, "He is a slave driver, I daren't make a mistake, he is a
perfectionist."

"Would you sing Everlasting Love for us?" Eric asked.

Mark played the introduction then Andy's filled the room with his beautiful
voice. Bob's lips were forming the words as he sang. At the end, Andy
invited them to sing along with him while he stood behind them giving
encouragement. Bob and Eric looked pleased with themselves for they felt
their effort was not too bad.

"You guys have quite good voices with a lot of potential, with a little
training we could make quite an attractive ensemble," Mark said. "Are you
interested?"

"You're not serious?" Eric thought the idea was crazy, although he
remembered he had once dreamed of being Boy George or Elton John.

"From whom did Andy inherit his musical talent?" Bob asked Mark.

"Paul says it is from his father, he had a good voice. You sound as if you
might have inherited it as well. Are you interested in sharing it with us?"
Bob was non-committal and was left to ponder Mark's inquiry.

Andy answered a phone call from Steven Evans, inquiring whether he and Tony
visit the next day. He was assured it would be fine and that they were
looking forward to seeing them again. He reminded the others that Paul and
Peter were expecting them at about 5.

"Their home is next door but they also have an apartment in town, we see a
lot of them when we come here. Now that Dad is gone, Paul believes he has
to take his place."

"Do you mind?" Bob asked.

"No. I love him as if he was my Dad. Dad was often overseas so then Paul
looked after me." He hesitated before adding, "he is likely to treat you
the same. Now that he knows that you are the son of his best friend, he
will want to take care of you as well. Dad and he were very close. I
believe he was in love with Dad."

"Was your Dad bi?"

"It was never admitted but I always believed he might have been."

The house next door was quite large with floor to ceiling windows. They
went through a small gate into a beautiful garden with immaculate
lawns. Peter and Paul were sitting beneath a gaudy sun umbrella. When they
saw them approaching Paul shouted a welcome and he and Peter gave each a
hug with a kiss for Andy and Mark.

"Don't we get a kiss?" Bob asked.

"Oh Paul I wondered when the laddie would be less coy," Peter said. He took
hold of Bob and pressed his lips to his. Bob responded equally
positively. Eric followed but less enthusiastically. Paul with a broad grin
also kissed them.

"So what's your tipple?" Peter inquired.

"A cold beer", came from Eric and the others asked for the same.

Condensation dripped from the large glasses offered them from the silver
tray by Peter. Bob slowly sipped his beer as he studies his hosts. They
were in their 50s, well built, both with dark hair showing flecks of
grey. Paul was more handsome with a serious manner whereas Peter made a
joke of issues, if kindly. Paul was clearly the more dominant
personality. Bob liked them both though thought Paul was more
attractive. Paul shifted to an empty chair beside Bob.

"Can you spend some time with me tomorrow morning? There are some very
important matters that I need to talk over with you." Bob told him he was
free and so it was arranged that he would call at 10. For a time they
discussed generalities then Paul asked him about his plans for next
year. "Andy has told me that you intend to leave Feilding and move to
Wellington. He expects you to live with him and Mark."

Bob was intrigued that Andy had presumed so much but was never the less
pleased that he expected him to live with them. "I would liked to. I am
hoping Eric will come with me and also go to varsity."

"So what degree is it to be?"

"Law is my first choice, a business degree if law proves to be beyond
me. My grades have been above average so I am hoping I can manage law."

Paul offered a lot of encouragement and reassurance before telling him that
he had a law degree. "I met Andy's father at law school, we were both
freshmen, we became very close friends." He lapsed into the silence of
strong memories as Bob waited for him to continue. "I know I loved him very
much but Philip was bi, when he met and married Celia, I was
heartbroken. We both became directors of a large Company, Philip was made
Managing Director and so he and Celia were often abroad, that was when Andy
became my responsibility. I love him as if he were my own son. Peter and I
are trustees of Philip and Celia's estates and that is what I want to talk
to you about tomorrow."

Eric joined them sitting on the grass at their feet.

"Are you coming to Wellington with Bob?" Paul asked him.

"I'd like to, I thought we find some digs together close to varsity."

"So you are also going to varsity?"

"Well I guess so, though I am not as keen as Bob, he's a swot, I'm not. I'd
rather play rugby."

Paul laughed. "Getting a degree is hard work. Andy expects Bob to stay with
him and naturally, you as well if you want to be with Bob. He's got plenty
of room, ideal for studying and to get away from each other when you need
to." He grinned, "even your lover can be a bit too much at times." Bob
blushed.

"Dinners being served," called Peter from the dining room's outer door. The
roast beef with Yorkshire pudding followed by sherry trifle and fruit salad
was served with claret wine. The boy's appetites did justice to a delicious
meal. Their glasses were kept filled so that they became increasingly
relaxed and uninhibited. Eric became quite amorous towards Bob and insisted
on feeding him his sweet. At first Bob was amused and became irritated and
tried to stop Eric, but without success. He excused himself and went to the
toilet, Eric rose to follow him but fell under the table. As Mark lifted
him onto the settee, Eric put his arms around his neck and in a loud voice
said, "will my teddy bear sleep with me tonight?"

"Those days are over Eric," Mark looked at Andy, "that was a long time
ago."

Andy laughed, "so you were Eric's teddy bear. Poor Bob, he's not so woolly
, we could wrap in a sheepskin."

Peter appeared with a large sheepskin rug just as Bob returned. He looked
concerned when he saw Eric asleep on the settee.

"He's had too much wine, he wants his teddy bear and we thought you might
oblige tonight wrapped in this." Peter gave the rug to Bob.

"He'd prefer Mark as you're not hairy enough," Andy said

Bob wrapped the rug around himself. "Sorry Eric, no way could I sleep in
this," he returned the rug to Peter. "It will have to be Mark.

Mark looked stunned. "It'll be like old times," Andy said. "Don't you have
the hots for Eric any more? Not even a little?"

"I don't mind sleeping with Andy," Bob said much to Andy's delight and
Mark's surprise. "Don't worry, he's too drunk to be much fun." 'I hope' he
thought as he spoke. Peter and Paul were much amused by the developments
caused by Eric's inebriation. While the others cleared the table and loaded
the dishwasher, Bob and Peter went into the lounge.

"How do you feel about having a half brother?" Peter asked Bob.

""I found it very hard to believe at first, it is not easy accepting a
stranger as your brother, however as I get to know Andy I am liking him a
lot. He's a nice guy. It sure is strange that we are both gay."

"A blessing, in fact a godsend, it is going to make life a lot easier for
you both. Most of Andy's friends are gay and his interests involve him with
many more. The big problem is he's very wealthy, been indulged by his
parents but had few friends his own age . He needs close friends who will
restrain his extravagance. I hope you will help Mark there."

"He and Mark seem to live only for music."

"That's right but they are both great artists who are going places. Mark is
a concert pianist and Andy a wonderful tenor. Both this year and last they
performed many times. Their home is never without music, I hope you can
adjust to it."

The others came in carrying mugs of coffee. "Steven and his partner Tony
are spending tomorrow with us, " Andy said.

"Did you say the Minister was Steven Evans?" Peter asked. He confirmed that
it was. "I know him, I'll tell you more about him later."

"Well join us for lunch to morrow, you can then renew your acquaintance."

They left soon after 9 with Bob and Mark supporting Eric who was still half
asleep. They undressed him then took him to the toilet. Bob focused his
cock while Mark supported him with encouraging "piddle darling, weewee for
daddy." Eventually his golden stream began, taking a long time to empty his
bladder. He had a silly grin on his face as they tried to keep him awake
until he'd finished. As they put him into bed, Mark said to Bob, "am I
sleeping with him tonight?"

"Do you really want to, you know you don't have to."

Mark looked nervously at Bob, "I really would like to. We were once very
close, there is still a spark or two. Would you mind?"

"No, if it's alright by Andy."

"Oh it's Ok with Andy, he's really keen to sleep with his brother." Mark
grinned.

Andy was already in bed with his eyes closed. Bob stripped and climbed in
beside him, not saying a word. Andy grunted contentedly, turned and cuddled
Bob, then felt his smooth chest. "Bloody hell," he said as he opened his
eyes. Then he saw Bob. "It's not a dream, this is wonderful."

"Mark knows and approves, he says it will help our bonding."

Andy snuggled into him, kissed his chest and stroked his stomach. Bob held
him close.

"I'm glad this has happened," Bob said. "I hoped you and I could be more
intimate, sleeping with you tells me that you agree."

"I think you are very sexy and I'm hoping Mark thinks so too. Although I
love Mark, I wouldn't mind if he also wanted to sleep with you. Would Eric
mind?"

"We'll find out in the morning." Bob wasn't very sure how Eric would react.

Andy kissed him lightly on the chest stomach and neck, his tongue delved
into the well of his navel. Bob became increasingly excited, his cock
stiffened and jerked. Andy grasped it and began to pump. Precum oozed from
the foreskin which he slowly drew back to display the purple head. He moved
down the bed so that his tongue could wipe the tip Bob caught his breath as
strong sensations surged through him. Andy's mouth engulfed his cock and
with slow strong strokes he massaged it's length. Bob's fingers combed his
hair. He closed his eyes and succumbed to the intense sensations generated
by Andy's skilful servicing. He tensed as he felt his climax growing, then
gasped as he ejaculated, his cum filling Andy's mouth. A long contented
sigh signalled the dieing orgasm. Andy kissed him, his cum covered tongue
finding Bob's as each embraced the other. Bob wrapped his arms and legs
about Andy, clasping him tightly, their cocks pressed together. Bob came
again followed by Andy, their cream spreading between their pressing
stomachs. They fell asleep in each other's arms.

Eric was overjoyed to find Mark sleeping beside him. He stroked his chest
hair before hugging him. No holds barred energetic sex followed, a replay
of the great sex they previously enjoyed.. Mark fucked Eric with the same
enthusiasm of those earlier years.

"That was great, you are still the best," Mark said.

"Could I take Andy's place?" Eric teased him.

"Never, he's the guy I love. Surely Bob's the guy you love?"

"Perhaps." Mark wondered how long this meant Bob would be his partner.

Mark went into the other bedroom and climbed in beside Andy. "Mornin'
darling, " he said before kissing him "mm did Bob tastes very nice?" Bob
hid his face in Andy's armpit.

"He's delicious, maybe he'll let you have a taste."

Bob sat up. "Is Eric awake, did he miss me?"

"Not that I noticed." Mark was unconcerned. Bob noticed Andy's questioning
look and went into Eric.

"Well, was it like old times?" Bob asked as he got in beside him.

"Not really, I love Mark's hairy body, but sex with you is more
meaningful. You don't need to worry."

"Nor you, Andy gives great sex but I still prefer you." Bob held Eric close
and soon they were in a passionate embrace which greatly excited Eric. Bob
turned onto his stomach as Eric put on a condom and lubricated his rigid
cock Bob raised his bottom encouraging entry then tightened his sphincter
muscle about Eric's throbbing cock. Eric moaned as Bob took control pushing
his buttocks into Eric's crotch. Eric's cock became a rapidly pumping
piston. Sweat dripped from Eric's face and torso onto Bob. He too was
perspiring as his body twisted and heaved. He masturbated frantically as
Eric drove his rod to it's limit and then roared as he climaxed, shuddering
with each ejaculation then collapsing onto Bob just as he came. Cum mixed
with sweat spread between their bodies. Bob's lingering kiss conveyed the
strong love he felt for Eric. He wondered why Eric seemed to be less
responsive.

Bob's thoughts kept returning to his night with Andy, to the warmth of his
affection as they cuddled each other, to his desire to please and to his
concern that Bob would be able to accept him as his brother. They were at
breakfast when Andy said, "Mark and I would like you both to meet our
friends during your stay so hope you have no objections to a dinner party."

You are bound to see a lot of them for they frequently visit," Mark
continued. There's Jeremy Weston the composer, Malcolm McPherson who
orchestrates Jerry's compositions, Aaron, Jerry's partner and other
singers."

"Do any play rugby?" Eric asked.

"I doubt it," Mark said. "Andy do we know any gay rugby players?" Andy
shook his head and then had a thought.

"Let's find an attractive rugby player. There is a gay football player,
shall we watch their match on Saturday, now where's the express?"

He scattered the magazines on a coffee table until he found a copy of the
gay newspaper and searched the list of clubs.. "Here it is, The Krazy
Knights Football Club." He dialled the contact number and was told the next
game was on Saturday morning at the Karori park. "This could be fun, I
doubt there will be many supporters, shall we go Eric?"

Eric was amused. "Bob and I might need to be reserves, ha, ha."

"Well what about the dinner party, is it on?" Mark asked.

"I would appreciate it," Bob said, "I've got to be accepted as Andy's
brother and it would help if Peter and Paul are also there to confirm it."

Andy agreed so Bob offered to check on a convenient date with Bob that
morning.

Bob arrived just on 10 and Paul took him into the lounge. He could smell
fresh baking and noticed Peter in an apron kneading dough in the
kitchen. Paul sat in an easy chair to the side of Bob with a file on a
small table beside him.

"Did you sleep well?" his question implied it was most unlikely.

"Most of the night. I slept with Andy and he wanted to talk, and cuddle of
course."

"Of course. I doubt that you would have slept much, his cock is so
demanding." Paul grinned. He opened the file. "First I want to give you
something." Paul handed Bob a brown envelope and watched him withdraw a
photograph. He looked at it for some time before asking Paul,

"Where did you get this?"

"Philip sent it to me with a letter. It was taken about 20 years ago in a
restaurant in Feilding. In the letter he told me that he was in love with
your mother but could not leave his wife Celia and Andy."

Bob looked at the pretty young woman he knew was his mother. Her fingers
were entwined with those of the man as their hands rested on the table. The
man was the same a that in the photo Andy had shown him of his family. It
was his father who was looking adoringly at Bob's mother.

"Keep the photo, it is a copy of the one Philip sent to me."

Bob 's emotions were making it difficult for him to speak he looked at it
for a long time then asked, "have you shown Andy this photo?"

"No, I feel you should decide if and when he should see it. Only you and I
know it exists."

Bob examined his father's face, wondering what he was like. "I would like
you tell me more about my father, I want to get to know him."

"He was a fine man. You know that I loved him and I love his son Andy. I
would like to feel the same about you." Paul was emotional and tears filled
his eyes. "Because his parents were away so often, Andy grew up with me. I
wont have that pleasure with you but I hope we will become close friends."

Bob left his chair to hug Paul and kiss him. "We will be close friends, I'm
privileged to share you with Andy. Thank you for the photograph, I'll
treasure it. Now I know my mother loved my real father." Bob's tears of joy
and strong emotion stifled further words. He sat wiping his eyes as Paul
placed the file on his knees.

"As you know Peter and I are trustees of both the estates of your father
and Andy's mother. We have discussed your possible entitlements with Andy
and it is his wish, and we have agreed, that you benefit from your father's
estate. His estate includes properties, an apartment in London, Andy's
home, the Raumati cottage and investments valued at 8 million. Income from
those investments meet all of Andy's expenses and will now also meet
yours. We all have agreed that you be given half, that is investments to
the value of 4 million and that you share the properties. The year after
next when Mark and Andy will be living in London and will be using the
apartment, you will have the Karori property for yourself. The cost of the
housekeeper, gardener and maintenance are met from income, as will be your
expenses, varsity fees and allowance. Andy has additional income from his
mother's estate and from royalties on his CDs, recital fees and performance
contracts, so he can afford to be generous."

Paul was checking a list of items in his notes while Bob sat stunned by
Paul's announcement. Bob found it hard to believe he could be so
wealthy. "Are you sure I am entitled to this inheritance, it's incredibly
generous?"

"Absolutely, we know for certain that Philip is your father and you are
entitled to your share of his estate. Remember Andy fully agrees. The
trustees are required under his will, to take responsibility for the
administration of the estate until you are both 25 when it is yours to do
what you like with it." Paul grinned, "I'm sure you are likely to be more
frugal than Andy who can be extravagant."

Bob was at a loss what to say. "It is going to be difficult for me to
accept that I will never have financial problems, that my choice of a
career will not need to worry about the cost. Oh boy, it's unbelievable."

"Watch it, there will be plenty of scroungers and fair weather friends once
it becomes known you are wealthy. Be careful with your generosity.'

"Who looks after the investment portfolios?"

"I do as I am already involved with the stock-market and as I am a director
of a number of companies. You will find the returns have been consistently
good." Paul felt relieved to hear Bob's interest as he was so different
from Andy who couldn't care less. "I regularly discuss the estate affairs
with Andy and now that will include you also. I think you are likely to
have a much better grip of the financial concerns."

Peter appeared with coffee and hot buttered scones. They were delicious and
Bob's mouth and chin were soon shiny from the oozing butter. "Ever tried
warm butter as a lubricant?" Peter asked solemnly. "It's quite good but
makes a hell of a mess of the bed." Bob had difficulty eating as he
laughed.

"I'll try it on the back lawn," he replied.

"Naked of course," Peter added, "but grass clippings are likely to stick,
such a nuisance." He flapped his hands, raised his eyebrows before offering
Bob another scone.

"Oh I nearly forgot," Bob changed the subject. "Andy and Mark are holding a
dinner party to introduce Eric and me to their friends. They want you both
to come so seek a convenient date."

"Here we go again, Andy loves dinner parties," Peter said. "He has
wonderful caterers, so butch, so sexy, and the food is great too. How about
it Paul?"

"Next Sunday would suit us."

"Then next Sunday it is," Bob replied.

The morning flew as they questioned Bob about his life and interests. They
were sensitive to his bereavements and avoided the deaths of his
parents. Bob asked them a lot about Andy's life and his involvement with
Mark. He was surprised to hear that they were both so highly regarded,
frequently giving recitals and with Andy taking operatic roles.

"I hope you and Eric continue to play rugby, Andy and Mark need to realise
that there is more to enjoy beside music." Paul said.

Bob told them they were attending a game being played by the Knights. Peter
roared with laughter. "That team has the beefiest looking guys I've ever
seen. If you like hairy muscular men you are going to have a treat."

"The problem is Mark and Andy haven't a clue about rugby."

"There's more than the game to enjoy," Paul replied with a knowing wink.

When Bob with Peter and Paul entered the lounge, Eric was talking to Steven
and Mark on one side while Tony was talking to Andy on the other. Tony
noticed them and with a cry of delight, "Papa Peter, Papa Paul" he rushed
across, flung his arms about them and kissed them both. "It's so good to
see you again." Steven was equally pleased if less demonstrative.

"It must be a couple of years since your generosity changed our lives,"
Steven said.

"Still for the better? Paul asked.

"It sure is."

Steven's emphatic reply left Paul in no doubt. Bob wondered what possible
reason was behind Toby's exuberance and Steven's reply. During lunch Paul's
questions and Peter's comments disclosed that they had been involved
helping Tony recover from a serious accident which had left him scarred
both mentally and physically. At the time Steven was the hospital chaplain
and had befriended Tony, they had become lovers. Bob wondered how Peter and
Paul had become involved.

Peter and Paul left immediately after lunch as they had to return to the
city. The others decided the enticing surf could not be resisted. Andy and
Mark quickly changed into bright bikini togs and encouraged the others to
make haste. Bob was disturbed to see the extensive damage done to Tony's
body. The purple patches of scarred flesh on his back, chest and stomach,
left by extensive third degree burns, the aftermath of terrible suffering
and permanent injury.

"Would you like an old skivvy to protect you from the sun?" Mark asked him
but his offer was declined. "I'm not waiting for you guys, the surf calls."
Mark bounded through the door followed immediately by the others. There was
a heavy surf with rough breakers and a strong undertow, much to the delight
of Eric and Steven. Bob could see that Tony was struggling to stay on his
feet. He stood behind him and as a large wave broke over them, he caught
Tony in his arms as he stumbled backwards. He held onto Bob's arms for
support.

"I'm afraid my legs are still weak," he said.

"Bob laughed. "It gives me an excuse for body contact. I envy Steven, you
are such a hunk."

"Who are you kidding? I might be when I've fully recovered."

Bob knew that Tony was tiring and suggested that they might sit on one of
the many logs washed up on the beach. He leant on Bob as they wadded
through the shallows and across the soft warm yielding sand. Steven joined
them.

"How are you feeling now?" he asked Bob. "You've been through a terrible
experience."

"I miss my mother terribly." He hesitated. "I still believe that I am the
cause of her death." Bob turned away as his voice broke.

"How can that be? Surely your father is to blame."

"When he learnt that I am gay, it was the last straw for him and he blamed
my mother again for failing him. His abuse and her murder was the
result. Though he knew that I am not his son, my unacceptable sexuality
still shamed him."

Steven took a little time to reply. "You need to accept that it was your
father who had the problems, not you. Learning that you are gay may have
triggered his abuse of your mother but you know there were other reasons,
his inability to have children of his own. It is not realistic for you to
blame your sexuality. You have no choice, you are God's creation and that
includes your sexual orientation. You have to feel proud of who you are."

"Eric and his family have been wonderful and helped me through this awful
time. His mother helped me to reduce my hatred and bitterness and to some
extent, I now feel that I am able to accept what happened. The deaths were
bad enough, but then to learn about my real father and to know that I have
a half brother was also disturbing. It means drastic changes to my life and
I'm not sure that I want to accept those changes."

"It could also be a time of joy to find there are others who love you who
are also family. So what do you intend to do?"

"I still intend to leave Feilding, to cut all ties with the past. I want to
change my name, Dickinson is now abhorrent." Bob shuddered as he gave his
name.

"And Eric, where does he fit in?" Steven had noticed that Eric was less
attentive to Bob's emotional needs and his support was waning.

"I thought I loved Eric and now I'm not so sure. Maybe I mistook his
comforting and support for affection which I felt I desperately needed."
Bob grinned, "Eric has a wandering eye, I feel he will be finding a guy
more attractive than me before long. We are good friends and we still enjoy
sex together."

"In a way it is better that you don't feel dependent on Eric. Now that you
are on your own, you need to feel self confident and strong. It's not easy
after a traumatic experience." Bob wondered whether he was thinking about
Tony. "Of course when you have someone you love and you know he loves you
just as much, it makes life a whole lot easier." Bob saw Tony's hand clasp
Stevens.

"One day I know I too will find a lover," Bob said. "I really envy you
guys." Bob kissed Steven. "Thanks for listening, I know I have to work it
out myself."

Mark, Eric and Andy flicked water over them as as they towelled before
sitting on the glistening warm sand. Mark was till puffing from his run as
he said, "that surf's great, gee I feel good, now how about a cold beer?"
They quickly returned through the sand hills to the house. Tony walked
beside Bob who put his arm around his waist.

"You've got guts man, I know what you've been through, hang in there." Bob
held him close and then kissed him. "Guys like you and Steven show me how."
He kissed him again.

"There'll be no snogging 'til tonight," Andy called. "The problem is all
this semi-nudity, it's going to be all or nothing to reduce the
temperature." He took off his togs and bare-arsed, led the way to the
shower

Frosted cans of beer were on the table as they towelled themselves after
showering. Still naked, they sat around the table talking until Tony sat
down at the piano and began to play. He played the opening bars of a number
of popular songs before singing 'The first time ever I saw your face...' in
a strong baritone. Everyone listened entranced with Andy intensely
focused. He drew up a chair beside Tony and began to sing along with
him. Tony sang with increased confidence as Andy provided a harmony. They
were good, Andy was impressed.

"Have you been taught singing Tony?"

"A few years ago, it all ended with my injuries."

"You're good, so when do you begin again?"

"Those days are over, I've lost confidence and decided that music can no
longer be my scene."

"Oh come on," Mark sounded annoyed, " a voice as good as yours has to be
shared, what else do you know?"

"Some opera,"

"Move over Tony." Mark took his place at the piano. "Do you know the duet
in Bizet's Pearl Fishers?" He began to play the introduction to 'In the
depths of the temple'.

"Yes I know it." Tony sounded more enthusiastic. Andy sang the introductory
recitative and the opening phrases followed by Tony's response. Their
voices soared together, the beautiful melody enhanced by voices blending
most effectively which thrilled them all.

"It's hard to believe that you guys have never sang together before,"
Steven said.

"I'm serious Tony, you've got a really good voice," Mark said, " can you
spend a few days with us after final exams, when we can work on some
songs. I would like you to take part on talent night of the Gay Student's
Club. If you were in Wellington, I believe you would be much appreciated."

"We know the right people," Andy said. "With the right songs, they might be
interested in recording that voice."

Tony looked at Steven as he replied, "I'll think about it," he sounded
nervous, "I'll get back to you."

Mark gripped his bare shoulder, "make it soon, your voice is really good."

Tony and Steven left at 4 to return home.

Bob told Andy that Paul had said that he and Peter would prefer Sunday for
the dinner party. Andy immediately called those he had decided to
invite. The short notice was no problem, they were used to Andy's impetuous
invitations. They all accepted quite enthusiastically when he added that a
big surprise would be awaiting them. He then phoned the caterers, "you had
better provide for 2 or 3 unexpected guests, you know what seems to happen
at my parties. After further questions from the caterer he added, "no
women, all guys, so your hunky assistants can flaunt what they like. No
dear we we're not into nudes, its a dinner party, not an orgy." As he put
down the phone he said to Eric, "that caterer's staff are so dishy, real
hunks that make me weak at the knees, it's hard concentrating on the meal."
Eric began to feel that the events of the coming weekend sounded more like
his idea of fun.

They were stacking the crockery in the cupboard after tea when Bob told
Andy that he had something important show him. He took him into his
bedroom. "Paul gave me a photo this morning, it was sent to him by our
father. Only he and I have seen it but I believe you should also see it."
He handed the brown envelope to Andy. He looked at the photo for a few
minutes then calmly said,

"It's a very good picture of Dad, no doubt this is your mother."

"It is, before she was married, I get the impression that they are in
love."

Andy hesitated, Bob sensed he did not want to agree with him. "I guess
so. I wonder if you were conceived that night."

Bob did not want to suggest that there might have been many similar
occasions. I don't intend to show that to anyone else, only Paul, you and I
know it exists."

"I wont mind if you do. It is worth framing for I'm sure you want evidence
that our Dad and your mother are responsible for our situation." Andy
handed the envelope containing the photograph back to Bob.

Then Bob sprung his other surprise. "I want to change my name. I want to
get rid of all my connections with Dickinson."

Andy interrupted, a look of anticipation on his smiling face, "of course it
has to be Wilson."

Bob nodded, "I'm glad you think so to. I want my name to be Robert Philip
Wilson; do you object to me adding Dad's Christian name to mine?"

"Not at all," Andy was delighted, "will you do it right away, like as soon
as we get back to town?" Andy hugged Bob. "Mr. Wilson, Robert Philip
Wilson, I love it."

Bob repeated the name as if savouring a new dish. Andy rushed back to the
lounge. "He's done it, he's done it," bubbling with delight.

"Done what", Mark looked up, not much concerned by Andy's periodic excited
proclamations,

"Changed his name of course, to Robert Philip Wilson."

"So he should," Mark replied phlegmatically. "Robert Philip Wilson sounds
nice, I like Rob better than Bob."

"So do I. Do you mind if we call you Rob?"

Bob was amused. "No, but I'm bound not to hear it," he replied.

"When of course we will yell, Booob, where the hell are you?"

Eric chuckled, "I wish I could have chosen my name."

"I'm glad you didn't, I like Eric," Bob kissed him.

The next day they left for Wellington, Bob and Andy in the Audi and Mark
with Eric to provide directions to Karori and home. Andy was determined Bob
would visit the office of the Registrar of Birth Deaths and Marriages at
the Justice Department the next day to complete the name change
application. Andy went with him and signed the form as one of the
witnesses. There were no problems and were told that they would receive the
confirmation and the certificate within a week.

The Justice Department was near the Beehive and Parliament so Andy went to
the end of the block to show Bob the seat of government. Then he pointed to
a very large 4 story wooden building surrounded by gardens and lawns.

"That's the old Government Buildings, the largest wooden building in the
Southern Hemisphere, now the Victoria University Law School where you will
be domiciled in refurbished Victoriana. Look its got a car park, lucky you,
it's a nightmare parking in the city."

Bob examined the impressive structure with it's gables, pillars and
cornices. Opposite it was the Houses of Parliament. The law courts and
government departments were all cheek by jowl with varsity's law faculty,
all very convenient. Then Andy took Bob on a tour of his favourite stores,
music, books and many expensive clothing shops. Bob quickly learnt that
Andy was not interested in bargain hunting or checking for best buys. He
now knew why Paul said he was extravagant. They met Mark and Eric at
Bojangles for lunch. The selection of coffee and the food was very good but
expensive. Most of the customers were gay, very noisy and animated, where
most of them seemed to know each other. Andy and Mark seemed to know
several and introduced Eric and Bob. "You guys have made quite an impact,"
Mark said, "have you noticed several customers have more than a passing
interest in you."

"We must come again," Eric said to Bob who was not so sure.

Eric persuaded Bob to run with him each evening and to swim 30 lengths of
the pool each day. They also worked out in the gym. No way could they
persuade Mark or Andy to join them or to come to the rugby game with
them. They arrived at the Karori Park to find the Knights already dressed
for the game. A tall heavily built player in his mid 20s approached them.

"I hope you enjoy the game, we don't get many spectators."

"We are from Feilding," Eric said, "I've read favourable reports about the
Krazy Knights, now we will see how true they are."

"We are 2 men short so it wont be a great game," he replied. "I don't
suppose you would like a game?"

"Sorry, we haven't any gear with us," Bob replied.

"Oh yes we have," Eric interjected, "I always carry our gear, just in
case." He laughed. Bob shook his head in disbelief. Eric opened the boot of
the Toyota and handed Bob his familiar duffle bag. The guy was highly
amused.

"That's great, you will?" he was delighted. My name is Ross Anderson, the
captain of the team and one of the backs. I'll introduce you to the
others." He led the way to the changing rooms. One of the players who was
about their own age said to Bob, "I played against you when Feilding High
played Wellington College, you got 3 tries. I'm Colin."

"I'm Bob and this is Eric. Yes Eric also kicked 2 goals."

"Ross, these guys are good, you lucky devil, do they want to join the
Knights?"

"Not 'til next year when we come to varsity."

Colin made it his business to introduce them as formidable players and soon
they were the centre of interest.

"We need a forward and a half back," Ross said.

"I usually play half-back and Eric forward," Bob replied.

"Well you're it. We're playing the Hurricanes, a really tough team."

The game was hard and fast wit a lot of bruising play. Bob scored a couple
of tries and Eric kicked 3 goals. The Knights won 24 to 18 and were on a
high as they returned to the changing room. Ross put and arm around Eric's
shoulder. "You guys were terrific, you won the game for us. Boy am I glad
you were able to play. Will you have lunch with some of us, we usually go
to the Shamrock which is nearby?" They accepted the invitation.

Eric liked the uninhibited friendliness of the team, they all wanted to
talk to him and Bob as they showered. Many were very attractive, well hung
and not reticent making physical contact washing each other's back often
including genitals. There was a lot of skylarking which Eric very much
enjoyed. Ross stripped had a tremendous physique with well defined abbs,
biceps and chest muscles. He was clean except for a thick pubic bush. His
easy going cheery manner appealed to Eric. He knew that he had to get to
know Ross. Thick steaks and fried onions with handles of beer was the
popular choice.

"How long are you here for?" Ross asked.

"For another week then we will be back next year for varsity."

"I really would like to see you again." Ross sounded disappointed.

"We are having a dinner party with friends of my brother tomorrow night,
why don't you come," Bob said.

Ross said he would like to but had transport problems. "No sweat, I'll pick
you up," Eric replied. "If we take you home today I will know where you
live." Eric was determined Ross would attend the dinner. He wrote Andy's
phone number as well as his Feilding number on a serviette and gave it to
Ross.

"Perhaps Ross might like to sleep over," Bob suggested. Eric blushed but
listened hopefully for his acceptance. To his delighted, Ross replied, "I
would like to," then "shall we go ?"

Eric left early to collect Ross. Bob spent more time than he needed getting
ready for the party. Eric was not there to share his thoughts and he was
anxious about how Andy's friends would receive the news; he was nervous
about meeting them.

"Come on slow coach," Andy said as he entered the bedroom. "Most of the
gang have arrived and are already beating the air. I want to continue the
suspense, who is this mysterious stranger, then drop the bombshell. I bet
it will blow their minds." Andy chuckled as he visualised the effect. "Come
on, you look and smell divine." He took Bob's arm.

Laughter, the hubbub of gossip and of guys enjoying themselves came from
the lounge. They did not notice Andy and Bob enter until they joined one of
the noisiest groups, interrupting an argument.

"This is Jeremy Watson, his partner Aaron Gillespie, Malcolm McPherson and
his partner Grant, guys meet my brother Robert Wilson."

There was sudden silence, Jeremy gaped, then blinked, Malcolm looked
puzzled and Aaron gulped then had a coughing attack.

"You're kidding', now pull the other one," Aaron said. "Stop fooling about
Andy, what's his real name?"

"What name did you say?" Jeremy asked.

Bob replied, "Robert Wilson, I am Andy's half-brother."

"Ho ho," came from Aaron, "did Dad have a bit on the side?"

"That's right," Andy replied, "and I've just found the proof, isn't he a
dish?"

"Damn it, I find this hard to believe." Jeremy looked flabbergasted.

Paul appeared followed by Peter. "It's true," he said as he joined them,
"Andy and Robert had DNA tests to confirm it."

Ralph Thompson and Chris Fenton joined them curious as to the cause of the
excitement.

"Bob this is Ralph and Chris," Andy said then continued, "and this is my
recently acquired half-brother, Robert Wilson." Ralph looked bewildered but
Chris did not seem to be surprised.

"Come on, I didn't come down in the last shower," Ralph's doubts were
strong.

"Paul has just confirmed that it is true," Jeremy said. "For me, one Wilson
is enough, with two my life will be even more chaotic."

"Don't worry Jerry, Bob is not a musician, he plays rugby," Andy
replied. He looked about, "where is that hunk Eric and the captain of the
Krazy Knights." As he spoke they appeared. It was Bob's turn to introduce
everyone. He was about to introduce Ralph when he said, "How are you Ross,
still giving fantastic blow jobs?" Ross looked hard at him, "When, where?"

"At Wairarapa College, in the locker room toilet, Ralph Thompson." Ralph
hugged Ross. "God you were something, then also captain of the first XV; so
is this your lover?" He looked at Eric who was quite embarrassed. Bob
roared with laughter, "they met only yesterday." Ralph continued to
reminisce about Ross, embellishing his sexual prowess much to Eric's
amusement.

Jeremy seemed to be a keen supporter of the Knights and was soon discussing
with Ross the teams merits and uncertain future. "Many of the teams don't
want to play against us because we are gay. We have already proved that we
are better than many of them by beating some in the top grade."

Everyone helped themselves to the wide selection of wine, beer and other
liquor and soon the affect was beginning to show. They increasingly
accepted and provided more physical contact during discussions until Mark
was relieved to hear that the meal was being served. He quickly shepherded
everybody into the dining room. The caterers were dressed in tight brief
black velvet shorts with bare torsos and black bow ties. Their muscular
bodies and clearly defined genitals thrilled the guests as they were served
aperitifs. There were four courses with soup, fish entree, roast venison
and strawberry flambe to finish. Coffee with liqueurs were served in the
sitting room. Andy invited the caterers to join them for they had been at
many of his functions and were well known to his gay friends.

Well fed and feeling the soothing soporific effect of excellent vintages
and a great meal, they all collapsed, many on the floor. "All I want now is
the arms of my lover," Aaron said. Jeremy sat down beside him. Everyone
paired off with Eric choosing Ross leaving Bob on his own. Mark and Andy
moved over beside him.

"I think you had better sleep with us tonight," Mark said. "Eric has plans
that don't include you."

Bob felt he had to circulate, he was the reason for the party and he was
obliged to help the guests get to know him. He saw Peter and Paul preparing
to leave and quickly caught them.

"I very much appreciate how you convinced our guests that I am
legitimate. No doubt there will many more who have doubts."

Peter chuckled, "I don't doubt it once the gay grapevine gets into gear,
the speculating will be over-the-top. Poor Philip, his reputation will now
be much disputed. I wonder who else satisfied his sex drive?"

"Don't bother to inquire or you might find more nasties under stones better
left alone," Paul replied.

Bob squatted beside Jeremy and Aaron and asked them how long they had been
Andy's friends. Aaron told him he had shared a room with Mark at the
student hostel and had fallen in love with him but, alas, it was not
returned as he found Andy much more attractive. Aaron sighed then quickly
continued. "I met Jerry at a Music Department concert at which Andy was
performing. The rest is history." He gave Jeremy a peck on the cheek.

"Have you ever been in love?" Jeremy asked.

"I thought I was in love with Eric when he comforted me so much when my
parents died but I now know that he did not feel the same way about me. I
guess I mistook sympathy for love."

"That's been my suspicion in the past but Aaron proved that my disability
did not influence how he felt about me." Jeremy kissed Aaron.

"I hope I will be as fortunate, all of Andy's friends seem to have found
real love, maybe his brother will too."

Bob went over to where Chris sat between Ralph's legs as he leant against
the settee. He squatted in front of them.

"Chris, Mark tells me that you know his family so I guess you will know my
friend Luke."

"I sure do." Chris's emphatic acknowledgment seemed to promise important
consequences. "When Mark told me about the discovery of Andy's brother, I
rang Luke. He told me about you."

"So you also know about the death of my parents?"

"He sent me press clippings, but when I asked about you, he clammed
up. Why, were you involved?"

Bob looked for a distraction. Ralph was sure that Bob did not want to
answer him.

"No doubt memories of that tragedy are still fresh and upsetting," Ralph
said. "I'm sure Mark and Andy are helping to ease the pain."

"Very much"

"But your real name is Dickinson, isn't it?" Chris would not let the
subject escape.

"It was the name of my mother's husband but he was not my real father. He
knew she was pregnant when he married her. My mother told me that but never
disclosed who was my real father until I received her letter after her
death. Andy agreed with my decision to change my name to his."

"Will you live with Andy and Mark?" Ralph asked.

"I want to forget the past and start a new life with my half-brother and
that includes hoping his friends will also be mine."

"Well you must either sing or play an instrument."

"Neither, I play rugby."

Chris shrieked, "you play football! I bet you've got gorgeous muscles,
great thighs and are well hung. I hate football but those guys usually
cause a fat."

Bob grinned, "Do you swim, you should join me one day soon."

"Oh no he wont," Ralph interjected, "I don't need competition."

Malcolm and Grant joined them and when asked how they had met Andy and
Mark, he told them he orchestrated Jeremy's compositions and that involved
their help. "Then I met Grant at the Masked Ball and I had to put him to
bed, he was drunk."

"He's been sleeping with me ever since."

Bob sniggered, "is he drunk every night?"

Ralph roomed with Mark when he first arrived at varsity," Chris said. "I've
no doubt he helped to liberate Mark and improve his sex education, he
certainly improved mine."

Chris, Ralph and Aaron have slept with Andy and Mark more often than anyone
else. They have lots of friends but few intimate ones," Malcolm said.

"So what secrets are you telling Bob?" Andy's unexpected presence caused
Malcolm to look very guilty.

Ralph left them to join Eric and Ross. "I hope we can persuade Eric and Bob
to join the Knights when they come to varsity next year," Ross said. "They
could lift the team's performance quite a lot."

"Well they're not musical, that's for sure," Ralph replied, "and they would
be a dead loss with Andy's crowd. I'm sorry for Bob."

"He's adaptable, a friendly sensitive guy and Andy is determined to help
him adjust. He and I are close friends, but I don't think living with Mark
and Andy is my scene. I'm hoping Bob will move out with me," Eric said.

"When will Bob move to Wellington?" Ralph asked Eric.

"After Christmas, but I wont join him until varsity begins."

"I may be able to find digs for you," Ross said. "I'll keep in touch."

Ralph was sure Ross's offer was aimed at the improvement of the team's
performance with these two likely lads.

All the guests apart from Ross had left but he gave no indications that he
wanted to leave. "Would you like to sleep over?" Andy asked him. "Bob can
sleep with us." He grinned, "it's obvious you want to sleep with Eric."
Eric suddenly discovered his shoe lace needed tying

I have longed to share Andy's teddy bear," Bob said. "Eric can show you
where we sleep. Come on Mark." Bob ran up the stairs, Mark followed with a
big grin.

Mark lay between Bob and Andy enjoying Bob's stroking fingers and Andy's
caresses.

"When will you move in with us?" Mark asked. "I overheard Eric say he wont
be with us until varsity commences."

"If it suits you, I would like to come between Christmas and the New Year."

"You could return with us, for we will be with Mark's family for
Christmas," Andy said.

Bob thought about Ivan's promised driving lessons when they returned on
Sunday and had hoped he would come to Wellington with the Toyota. He did
not want to talk, only to enjoy the intimate physical sharing of a bed with
his brother and his partner. This was special.

Eric and Ross were bleary-eyed, dishevelled and looked exhausted when they
came down to breakfast.

"So it was a wild night with little sleep," Andy commented. Ross looked
very happy with the smile of one who had scored. Bob wondered how Eric
felt.

"I've asked Eric to come with me to varsity's gay student's club evening on
Tuesday," Ross said.

"I'd forgotten about it." Mark sounded vexed, "Shall we all go? We should,
it's an opportunity for Eric and Bob to meet more of the 'family'." It was
agreed that they would and arranged to meet Ross at the student centre.

Bob drove Ross home soon after breakfast but did not return until late
afternoon.

Bob's continual questions about varsity, first to Andy then to Mark, seemed
to be his way of discovering how to relate to them until Mark reminded Andy
that he still had to practise some new songs. Bob learnt that this was a
daily routine and always a priority. He sat in the study reading the latest
express but was constantly distracted by Andy's voice. He marvelled at its
beauty, the emotion it conveyed, its clarity and his confidence. He heard
Mark making Andy repeat phrases, giving guidance and encouragement. 'No
wonder they were such a committed couple, it is more than love on which
they are building their relationship' he thought. When the practise ended,
Mark played some bars of Beethoven's Emperor concerto. Bob recognised it
from a music appreciation class at school, he found it thrilling.

"Mark is to play the Emperor for his final exam," Andy said as he handed
Bob a mug of coffee. "He's good, the Prof. says he's one of their best
pianists."

"I heard it once at school, I think it is wonderful."

Andy left the room for a moment and as he returned the crashing opening
bars of the concerto came from the speakers in the study. Neither spoke
until the concerto ended..

"You don't dislike classical music?" Andy sounded anxious.

"I know only popular classics, no doubt I will get to know more when I am
with you. I look forward to that."

"I hope it includes opera, that's my scene. Last year I was in Rigolleto,
this year it was La Boheme, next year has still to be decided. When we have
completed our degrees at the end of next year, we go to London, I will go
to the London Opera School and Mark will study at the London Royal School
of Music. You will be hearing a lot of opera." Andy shrugged his shoulders
confirming the inevitable experience. Bob was not sure whether it was a
warning of torment or delight. "Of course now this house is as much yours
as mine and when we are overseas I hope you will continue to make it your
home."

This announcement was a shock to bob, he had not realised that his sharing
with Andy and Mark would be so short. "Of course you will stay with us when
you are in London. You and I own an apartment in Knightsbridge and there is
lots of room."

Mark joined them with his mug of coffee. "You play that second movement
beautifully. I find it very emotional." Andy was expecting Bob to seek more
information about their plans so was intrigued that Beethoven was of
greater interest.

"Thank you," Mark replied, "I also find it very emotional. I confess the
Emperor hypnotises me, I'm not conscious of anything else when I play it."

"I hope you will introduce me to more of your favourite music," Bob said as
he collected the empty mugs and took them to the kitchen.

"Hi Elizabeth, gee I like your meals, thank you", he said to the
housekeeper. She warmed to his appreciation, it was seldom expressed by the
others.

"I think I am going to like your joining the family," she replied as she
smiled at Bob.
