Joseph Andrew Collins
Chapter 14

I'm afraid I gave Andrew a rough night. I was restless and moved around
quite a bit. He tried at first to sleep with his back to me, but my dreams
were disjointed and I tossed and turned. Andrew finally turned over and
held me close to him. I settled then, knowing as always, I was protected
in Andrew's charge. I woke during the dark of night to find I was secured
by Andrew, one of his arms under my head, so that it lay under his chin
with the arm running down the front of my body and the other arm extended
so it lay along my side and the bend at his elbow brought his hand over my
stomach. I lay there enjoying my closeness to this man who treated me so
well and has meant so much to me since I first met him.

I could feel the hair on his chest move slightly against my back as he
breathed slowly in and out. It slowly occurred to me that there was
movement between us as his rigid erection moved ever so slightly up and
down the cleft of my butt. This thought brought my attention to the
steel-like beam, which protruded from my own groin, upward toward my belly
button. As I breathed in and out, the head of my dick was rubbing slowly
against the back of Andrew's hand. I knew my cock head had to be starting
to ooze precum and there would be no disposing of the evidence if this went
on much further.

Very carefully I moved to see if Andrew would release his hold on me and he
did. He drew his arms back, not fully, but enough to allow me movement. I
carefully turned over, so that I now faced him and moved closer, so that
our unbending organs were pushed together between us. Andrew shifted
slightly and I was concerned I had wakened him, but he settled closing his
arms around me again.

"I love you, Tick." he mumbled, as he reached between us and grasped our
two spikes. After squeezing them together firmly a couple times with a
shudder, he returned his hand to my hip and cupped my butt in his strong
fingers, pulling us back tightly together again. I held my breath, but he
was sound asleep and continued the regular in and out breathes of slumber.

"I love you too, Andrew." I whispered as I drifted back to sleep, my
forehead pressed against his firm, furry chest, as it had been earlier last
evening.

I woke to the sound of others moving around. I was alone. Hogan's bed was
empty and Andrew was gone as well. Uncertain what to do, I grabbed my
underwear from my bag and after pulling it on, went out into the hall and
over to the toilets' entry. I found four senior Brothers were already
there, when I went in; Andrew was not one of them. The open toilet
arrangement presented no discomfort for me. After two years of visiting
with the Brothers, I was use to the concept. My problem right now was that
I was a Pledge in the midst of a hoard of senior Brothers. Jumping up to
attention every time I was addressed could prove extremely
counter-productive in this particular location. I decided it would likely
be better if I just went straight to the Pledge wing. As I pulled open the
door to exit, I ran smack into Brother Randy.

Brother Randy Graceson was the largest of the Brothers. He was a star
blocker and charger on our Division Champion football team. Randy stood
about 6'4" and weighed about 300 pounds. On the playing field, he was a
bull elephant that nothing or nobody could stop. Off the field, he was one
of the kindest, gentlest men I had ever met.

"Hey, Joe, where you going ?" he asked. I came to attention.

"I was just looking for Brother Andrew, Sir." I replied.

"It's all right, Joe. Relax." Brother Randy said. "We all know you came
over here with Andrew last night. You don't have to run off."

"Thank you, Sir." I answered. "I need to get over to the toilet room in
the Pledge wing." He looked at me for a moment.

"You go use the toilet here." he told me, motioning to the ones in this
room. "No one will bother you. Pledge rules are suspended. I'll be here
'til you're ready to leave, so don't worry." I was relieved and went over
to use the facilities. Randy seemed to understand without me detailing to
him what my hesitation was about.

"Hey, Joe. What's new ?" Brother Jim asked as he came into the room and
looked around.

"Leave him alone, Jim." Randy said. "The kid needs a few minutes to
himself."

"Sure. Okay." Jim responded. "I didn't mean to startle you, Joe."

"It's okay, Sir." I answered. "Thanks for asking. Everything's good."
Just then, Andrew popped in the door, looked around, spotted me and called
out to Hogan that he'd found me.

"Sorry, Tick." Andrew apologized. "I had some business I had to look
after and figured you'd sleep 'til I got back."

"It's all right, Sir." I responded. "Everything is good. Brother Randy
was seeing that I was okay." Andrew turned to Randy, who had moved over
next to him and the two of them each raised an arm above his head and
slapped hands with each other, without saying anything. I was done by then
and went over and washed my hands. Andrew and I went back to his room.

We were in our running shorts and in front of the House when the others
started showing up. Within five minutes everyone had appeared and Vince
was busy organizing the run, when Chris came out of the House dressed in an
equestrian riding uniform, carrying a helmet and riding crop. The group
all came to attention as the President of the Chapter approached us. I'm
sure everyone was trying as hard as I was not to laugh. Andrew was looking
at the ground and I'm sure he and I didn't dare to look at each other.

"Where's your horse ?" a chuckling Pledge Master Vince asked Chris as he
approached.

"I'm afraid I couldn't arrange for a horse." Chris replied. "Actually it
wasn't an equestrian theme I wanted, but this was the only riding uniform I
could find. I figured it would be suitable enough for driving the jeep."

"I need the jeep for the Pledge morning run." Vince stated.

"Actually, all you need for the Pledge morning run are your feet, oh
substitute Pledge." Chris advised him. "Seeing as the Pledge Master is
occupied this morning in his other role of 'big Brother', I felt it best if
I took the jeep this morning, so your 'little brother' would have you to
run with." There was a loud cheer and clapping initiated by the Brothers,
joined in quickly by the Pledges, myself at the forefront.

"No, no." Vince sputtered. "This isn't necessary. I can look after this
without your help." Chris went right ahead and climbed aboard the jeep,
turned the key and yelled, "Wagons Ho!" as the vehicle moved out. Vince
stood there with his mouth hanging open until RAT told him to get his ass
in gear before he started losing him Lifesavers. We had an excellent run,
most of us anyway.

This Monday passed quickly. Andrew walked me to my classes and then met me
after them, so he was always within reach. I learned a lot more about what
he did as senior Advisor for the Frat. Throughout the day, Brothers would
seek him out and ask questions about many different things. A couple
different times, he would ask if I minded him having a few minutes private
time with someone and he would leave me in an open area and step off to the
side and talk quietly with the individual.

Once, I was challenged by Brother Jim about my twin's whereabouts and
Andrew was immediately beside me. Jim was almost embarrassed about the
challenge, but Andrew commended him on his diligence and made him feel
good. Andrew was also approached several times during the day by people I
recognized as officials of some of the other Fraternities. They would
generally start out with idle chit-chat, but would eventually ask him a
question which involved, "what would you do if," in it. Andrew would probe
for more details about the problem or situation and then usually offer two
or three suggestions, leaving them with options from which to choose.

I had a practice today at 3:30 with my Coach. My 'big Brother' came with
me. There was no audience today, just the three of us and Coach Banks.
Sandy and Ray showed up as well. It seems they had decided to work out
with me this year, no matter whether we formed a dojo or not. Sandy left
Ellis with Chris while he was here. I was happy for their participation.

"Are you feeling better today than the last time I was here ?" Ken
Williams asked me. I owed him an explanation and apology. He received
both. He looked at me with severity in his eyes. "Your Arts are not for
punishing. This is a flaw in your self-control and should have been
punished." I told him the rest of what had happened.

"I realize the error I committed and have made peace with all involved,
except you and Darrin." I said. "I ask your forgiveness now for my
errors." He stared at me and the hard edge left his eyes and voice.

"It's clear you have learned from this incident, Joe." Ken responded.
"You have also been reprimanded publicly, so it is not my place to hold you
accountable again." He stood straight and bowed to me. I returned his
bow, being certain mine was lower to show my respect for my teacher.
"Let's get to work."

Ken might not have planned on humiliating me further publicly, but he had
no problem about doing it in front of the group assembled in that gym. He
worked me without a break for the next hour. He would attack and criticize
my counters, then he would make me do them over and over with Sandy and
Ray. At least by the end of the session, he had dispelled his anger with
me and ended up smiling. After a ten-minute rest, Ken had me observe Ray
and Sandy spar and then comment on their form and technique. Agreeing with
my observations, he then required me to teach them the changes they needed
in order to make their moves more effective. A half hour later, the
improvement in their methods was evident.

"You've done your job well." he congratulated them. "You've also done
your job well, Joe. Not every practitioner is a teacher, but you have the
skill and patience to be a good one. There is no reason you should not
open a dojo here and teach. It will help you in developing into a Master
of the Art and it will provide these anxious students with a quality of
instruction they should be entitled to receive." I thanked him for his
observations. "Now, the negative side. You are not practicing enough.
You have lost the championship edge from your performance. That means your
exercise program is not being applied properly. The World Championships
are only 5 months away."

"It's been a busy time here." I suggested in my own defence.

"Excuses will not change anything." Ken declared. "You must make time for
your practice and exercise."

"He will." Andrew's voice interrupted.

"You're damn right he will." Roger Banks stated.

"It's just become my personal project for this year." Sandy added.

"Mine too," the other three added simultaneously. I had this sense of
impending doom.

When we had finished for the day, we all took Ken to the cafeteria with us
for dinner. This was actually not an attempt on my part to get even with
him for the exhausting workout. The food in our cafeteria was actually
quite edible and even occasionally had the flavour of whatever it had been
presented to represent. As we arrived at the cafeteria building, I noticed
a group of six or so shirtless men, leashed together by the dog collars
they wore around their necks, standing about 10 feet from the entrance.

These appeared to be the same guys we had seen Saturday night at the pizza
place. I don't know if the others were the same ones, but I recognized
Terry Sommers, the man I'd had the Frisbee incident with and had made the
fleeting eye contact with the last time we saw each other. There appeared
to be some disagreement going on. We stopped to watch what was happening.

"Bend over and take your paddling, Sommers." a heavyset man of about 22,
waving a thick paddle around yelled at Terry.

"I've had enough." Terry stated. "I did nothing wrong and I've already
been paddled twice today for no reason. I'm resigning."

"Quit if you want, fag," his tormenter sneered, "but after we get back to
the Frat House. Right now, you get paddled." Andrew, who had stopped
beside me, walked over to the group.

"Gentlemen, this isn't the impression any of us want the other students and
public to have of Greek Fraternity." Andrew stated to the group, but more
specifically to their Leader. At the same time I heard Andrew in my head,
calling out to the Brothers. "It would be best if this were resolved
somewhere else."

"Butt out." their Leader snarled. "I don't need any pussy DPD asshole
telling me how to handle fuckin' Pledges." I had moved up beside Andrew as
he spoke. Suddenly, a circle of bodies surrounded the six Pledges, their
Leader, Andrew and myself. Scanning the faces quickly, I realized the
circle was comprised of DPD Brothers and Pledges. There was a pregnant
moment of silence as the others enclosed in the circle looked around
uncertainly.

"Let me in there, please." someone said, from outside the secure circle of
bodies. A single body was admitted and I recognized him as a member of one
of the Fraternities that I had met last year. He took a quick look around.
"What's going on Brother Andrew ?" The Leader of the Pledge group started
to say something and the new arrival cut him off. "I didn't ask you
anything yet, Tucker."

"It seems one of your Pledges has resigned and isn't being released."
Andrew stated. "The commotion is not reflective of Greek Fraternity to
either me, or the public passing by." The new arrival turned to the Pledge
group.

"Who wishes to resign and why ?"

"I do." Sommers stated. "I've been paddled twice already today for no
reason and now Pledge Master Tucker has decided to paddle me again, here in
the public area for no reason. This isn't what Fraternity is about. What
is this Frat, a bunch of sadistic abusers ? There's such a thing as
instituting discipline and order, but this has gone way beyond that."

"Terry, will you come back to the Frat House with me and tell the Brothers
what you just told me ?" the new arrival asked. "I guarantee you'll be
free to go whenever you want and no one," he glared at Tucker, "will lay a
finger on you."

"I'll come back, Sir," Sommers agreed, "if Joe Collins will come with me."

"What about it, Mr. Collins," I was asked, "will you be Protector for
Pledge Sommers ?"

"If my 'big Brother' will come." I answered. The inquisitor looked around
and Andrew finally raised his hand, indicating it was he.

"You are always welcome in our House at any time, Brother Andrew." he
stated and you could see by the look on his face, he was impressed and most
serious about what he was saying.

"Place Pledge Sommers under my supervision and he, Pledge Joe and I will be
at your House at 8:30 this evening." Andrew stated. "Also guarantee that
no one will influence these other five Pledges about what they have to say
concerning today's activities."

"Done. You have my guarantee." he replied.

"Well if I can't accept the guarantee of Dell Philips, President of Alpha
Gamma Epsilon Chapter, whose can I accept ?" Andrew acknowledged and they
shook hands. Terry Sommers was released from his Pledge group and came
over to where we were standing. Andrew took off his DPD jacket and handed
it to Terry, telling him to put it on. The DPD circle broke apart and the
members disappeared into different directions as quickly as they had
assembled. Our little group, now plus Terry Sommers, continued into the
cafeteria to have our supper.

"Where did all your Frat Brothers come from ?" Terry asked me. "One
minute there was no sign of anyone and the next they were all there."

"I guess challenging a DPD Brother at supper time outside the cafeteria is
about the dumbest time and place possible." I commented. "We all like to
eat." Everyone laughed.

"Why AGE, Terry ?" Sandy asked. Terry hung his head for a moment before
he looked up and around our group.

"Like everyone else, I would have preferred DPD," he told us, "but I fucked
that up before Rush even started." He glanced over to me. Andrew raised
his eyebrows in question.

"Mr. Frisbee." I explained and all the DPD people knew immediately that
Vince had blackballed him for his behaviour and attitude, before and after
his confrontation with me.

"After Rush week started, I attended several parties. My mouth
disqualified me from any of the better Frats and it got to the point that
AGE was the only one that accepted me to Pledge." Terry continued. "It's
been all the worst stories I ever heard about hazing and non-scarring
abuse. I swear the Pledge Master is a sadist and some of his Brothers are
into SM. They're given a free hand, with no supervision."

"Yeah. I know what you mean." I said with as straight a face as possible.
All the Brothers started laughing at me. Terry was very confused. "I'm
sorry Terry, I'm kidding you, although I have felt the bite of the paddle."

"And may still again." Andrew added. The Brothers all laughed again as I
sharply snapped my head and widely opened eyes to look and see if he was
serious. Andrew started to laugh as well.

"Why me ?" I asked Terry, changing the subject. "Why did you want me to
go with you tonight ?"

"The easy answer would be that you're the only one I knew in the entire
group that was there." he replied. "Actually, I recognized a couple of
your Brothers who are on the Soccer teams I am, so that's not true. Since
our first encounter, I've found out a bit about you, not from spite, but
because I admired the way you stood up to me. Everything I've uncovered
says, you're honest, sincere and straight from the shoulder. Besides, if I
get into a fight, I wanted you on my side."

"Good survival instincts." I noted. "I like that." The rest of our
conversation was idle chatter throughout our meal. After saying good night
to Ken Williams, the rest of us went back to the Frat House. Once there,
Andrew told me to take Terry into the Pledge lounge and stay with him. He
said, he would be back for the seven o'clock meeting.

Terry had never been to our Frat House and he had many questions. He told
me the Pledge bedrooms, which would be used by those inducted as first
year, each had two, two-man bunks, so four were in each room. There
apparently was not much funding, except for the fees paid by the members
and because the Charter members didn't want to, or couldn't pay larger
fees, there were never any funds for improvement or expansion. Terry was
much larger built then me, so I asked RAT if we could have one of his
T-shirts for Terry to wear. RAT went and got one. We set Andrew's jacket
aside, to be returned to him.

At seven o'clock precisely, we were all summoned to the main lounge. This
appeared to be a full Fraternity meeting as everyone was present including
Coach Banks and Dr. Payne. Andrew asked me to introduce Terry to Chris
and Vince before the meeting started and I did as asked. Chris called the
meeting to order and the first thing he did was ask me to now introduce
Terry to the Chapter. Andrew then explained briefly the circumstances
around Terry being present, though everyone had a basic idea from having
participated in the security circle. Andrew also indicated that he and we
would be leaving for an 8:30 meeting.

"Terry," Chris addressed him, "this would normally be a closed meeting
between our Brothers and Pledges, which would be attended only by those who
had declared allegiance to Delta Phi Delta. It would be rude to leave you,
as our guest, alone for the next hour or so, while we meet. We therefore
are going to ask your pledge that what you hear and see while our guest
will not be discussed with anyone, except a member here in attendance."
Terry stood and faced Chris.

"I am really honoured to be allowed this privilege and I promise to never
speak of what occurs while I am here, other than to someone else who is
present."

"That's fine." Chris specified. "Now if you would just sign at the bottom
of this sheet with your own blood." He held out a page to Terry who stood
frozen for a moment. Everyone started to laugh and Terry realized he had
been ragged and laughed himself as he sat back down.

"All right, gentlemen." Andrew addressed the group. "Pledge brothers, you
were told at the end of last week that there would be discussions this week
about sexual matters and to leave your inhibitions at the door. Get ready
to spill your guts before your brothers. First though, I want to take a
small survey. Think about last Friday night, after the Beer Fest. Those
of you who had a dream, which included Joe, Brad, Vince, Kirk and myself,
put up your hands, please." All of the Brothers raised their hands and
half of the Pledges. After looking around at all the others, the rest of
the Pledges also nervously raised their hands. I was shocked when Terry
raised his hand as well.

"Terry, are you serious ?" Brad asked. "Did you actually have the dream
Andrew asked about ?" Terry indicated he had.

"Those of you who did not have a spontaneous emission, please keep your
hands up." Most of the hands fell.

"He means anyone who got off without doing anything, put your hands down."
Brad explained. Everyone else dropped his hand.

"Am I wrong, or is it impossible for all of us to have the same dream, at
the same time ?" Chris asked.

"And how do you know what we dreamed, Andrew ?" Vince questioned.

Andrew posed another question. "How many of you remember the dream in
detail ?" Again, the whole room raised their hands. "And how many of you
normally remember your dreams for three days ?" All hands disappeared
again.

"The Brothers will understand, when I say this has to do with the
experiments we conduct." Brad declared. "The Pledges will have to wait
for an explanation at the end of Pledge week.

The meeting then dissolved into we Pledges going to our own lounge and
under the direction of Vince, Dr. Bayer. Coach Banks and Andrew, reviewed
our knowledge about both hetero and homosexual safe sex practices,
techniques, menstruation cycles and premature ejaculation. There was a
question and answer period and some really pertinent points were discussed.
No one felt the time was wasted, because our instructors told it plain and
simple and used personal example, which of course tweaked everyone's
voyeuristic tendencies. Terry even asked a couple questions and seemed
pleased with the answers he received.

At 8:15 Brad came in and took Andrew's place and he, Terry and I left for
the AGE House. There was not much discussion as we walked along and what
there was centred on the questions we'd heard this evening about sexuality.
We arrived at the House just before 8:30 and were met coming up the
sidewalk by President Dell Philips. He shook hands with each of us and
invited us in.

The House was much smaller than DPD and it was obviously in need of repair
and cleanup. We were led through a front lounge about the size of the
Pledge lounge and into a dining room. Seated around the tables there were
about 25 men. The 5 Pledges who had been with Terry were seated on the
floor near the front of the room, where four chairs had been lined up.
Dell invited us to be seated on the chairs. He then introduced Andrew and
then me to the assembled grouping.

"Pledge Terry Sommers has declared his intention to leave our group." Dell
announced. "he has very specific reasons for leaving..."

"Yeah, because he's a sissy fag, who can't take it." Tucker growled.

"...and I want it clear to each of you, why we are losing this Pledge."
Dell finished his interrupted statement. Dell motioned for Terry to come
and stand beside him.

"I had already been paddled twice today for no reason and the sadistic
asshole you people chose as a Pledge Master, decided to paddle me again for
no reason in the public square in front of the cafeteria." Terry stated.
"That was only today so far. Everyday since we pledged this Fraternity, we
have been abused, belittled, sexually assaulted, physically assaulted and
degraded in the name of Fraternity. I joined this group to become part of
a brotherhood, but it doesn't exist here. I saw it tonight at DPD." He
paused and looked over at Andrew, who nodded an approval. "Third and
fourth year Brothers speaking with their Pledges about safe and responsible
sex. Not smut and innuendo, but clear basic information they can use to
Protect themselves and promote their enjoyment and sharing with a partner."

"I'm not surprised..." Tucker began to speak out.

"Shut up, Tucker." Dell yelled out. "If we want shit, we know enough to
squeeze your head." The Brothers chuckled. Tucker looked pissed.

"Brother Andrew." one of the Brothers spoke up. "We all know you and
wonder why you have come here tonight."

"I'm here, because my 'little brother', who was designated Protector, asked
me to accompany him." Andrew stated. "I observed the confrontation this
afternoon between Pledge Sommers and Brother Tucker."

"That's Pledge Master Tucker." he called out.

"Whatever." Andrew replied, making it clear he was unimpressed. "The
confrontation was totally out of hand, which must be attributed to the
Pledge Master and the public image being presented was destructive to all
Greek Fraternal Organizations. The image you present to the public through
your Pledges is in general detrimental to all Greek Fraternal Chapters.
Your Pledges, your Pledge Master and yourselves are always representative
of us all, not just yourselves."

"I want to hear from my brother about what's been going on." one of the
Brothers said. "Bobby, get up there." A young guy, tall and lanky stood
and moved to the front. "What's been happening ? Are you guys being
beaten ?"

"Well, sometimes." he answered, hanging his head and looking at the floor.

"Do you deserve it ?" the Brother asked.

"I don't really know." Bobby responded. "I've never been told what I did
wrong, just to drop my pants and grab my ankles."

"You been here since Saturday. Three days." his brother noted. "How many
times you been paddled ?" The boy stood and started counting on his
fingers.

"Eleven."

"Why didn't you say anything to me ?" he was asked.

"The Pledge Master said, I wasn't suppose to talk to you," Bobby announced,
"and if you found out how many times I had to be paddled, you'd be really
mad and throw me out of the Frat. This is the only Frat that would have
me. I can't get put out." The boy's brother looked over at Tucker, then
lunged at him. A number of his Brothers had to grab him and hold him back.

"When do I get to speak ?" a visibly shaken Tucker whined. "I can explain
all this. It's just a misunderstanding." Dell indicated Tucker should
come up to the front and speak.

"You people stuck me with this thankless job." he declared. "You give me
six Pledges who are the bottom of the barrel, bastards no other fraternity
will take on and then you expect me to housebreak them with sweet words and
happy slogans. They're being trained the same way I was trained and the
rest of you too."

"How are they learning, if they're not told what they did wrong when they
get disciplined ?" Dell questioned.

"They know." Tucker insisted. "Just because they won't admit it, they
still know."

"What did Sommers do that required paddling in the public courtyard by the
cafeteria ?" Dell asked. There was a pause and all eyes returned to
Tucker.

"Well...well. Well, I guess he was slowing down the line, not paying
attention to what we were doing." Tucker fumbled out. "Yeah, that's it.
He was watching the girls and not keeping up."

"He was keeping up." Bobby exclaimed. "It was you slowing and stopping,
making rude, suggestive comments to the co-eds. Then you got mad when that
one told you to 'fuck off'." Tucker glared at him.

"Tucker you are up on charges." Dell declared. "You are relieved as
Pledge Master."

"You can't do that." Tucker squealed. "My father will have your balls."

"Let's just castrate him now." one of the Brothers suggested. Tucker
nearly fainted. I couldn't help but snicker.

"Master-at-Arms, take Brother Tucker into custody and confine him to his
room." the Chapter President instructed. A massive man, the size of our
Brother Randy, only with 40 pounds of fat added, moved forward from the
back of the room. He wiggled his index finger, motioning Tucker over to
him as he glared at the former Pledge Master. Tucker slowly moved to the
big man and was escorted out of the room.

"This is your fault." Dell Philips stated in a loud voice, looking at his
Brothers. "None of you are willing to participate, or help. You expect
everyone else to do it. Pledge Master is one of the most important roles
in the Fraternity and that asshole got it because none of you could be
bothered. He's a pig, who should have been expelled last year, but you
guys couldn't even be bothered about doing that. I've had enough.
Sommers, do you want a roommate over in the dorms ?" Dell turned to Terry.

"Sure." Terry affirmed.

"Good, you got one." Dell announced. "I resign. I resign as Chapter
President and I resign as a member of Alpha Gamma Epsilon." Pandemonium
broke out. A group of Brothers raced to Dell arguing in loud voices that
he mustn't resign. Others still seated started loud discussions and some
argued about where the blame lay for what was happening. Everyone was
obviously upset, but no one seemed to know what to do or how to act. I
wondered whom the rest of the Executive was and why they weren't
stabilizing what was happening.

"Gentlemen." Andrew's clear voice rang out over the din. "Gentlemen,
let's have some order, please." The Brothers became quiet and gave Andrew
their attention. "Gentlemen, I believe from your reaction, this is not
what you want and Dell, I truly believe it is not what you want either."

"No it's not, Andrew," Dell stated, "but we're just starting out a new
school year and we're neck deep in shit already. I don't know what to do."

"Gentlemen, I think you all know that if Dell goes, this Fraternity is
done." Andrew told them. "Dell indicates that you don't care anyway, so
is it all right with you if you just throw in the towel and close the doors
here."

"NO." was the resounding answer he received.

"Well, does it mean enough to you to dig in and do the work required to
make your Fraternity work." Andrew asked. "Now don't just say 'Yes', if
you don't mean it, because you'll just be delaying the inevitable and in so
doing make it even worse. Will you work at it ?"

"YES." was delivered back even more forcefully than the previous answer.

"All right, here's what I will arrange for you, subject to your approval."
Andrew stated. "Dell, if you and Terry will stay on here, a DPD Pledge
Master will come and live here for the next week and with your new Pledge
Master, guide and train your Pledges. Over the next two weeks DPD Brothers
will provide a half dozen workshops for every Brother on Charter operations
and Fraternity values. For the rest of this school year, either the DPD
Pledge Master or I will be available to your entire House as a senior
Advisor. Is this satisfactory and will it help you all put your House in
order ?"

"Yes" echoed throughout the House another time.

"Dell ?" Andrew asked. He nodded and the Brothers applauded wildly.

"Terry ?" he asked again.

"Does that mean no more paddle ?" Terry questioned.

'No it doesn't." Andrew stated. "In fact you may find the DPD Pledge
Master may use it right off to establish order and discipline. Isn't that
correct, Pledge Joe ?"

"Yes, Sir." I affirmed. Terry thought for a few moments, then he nodded
his assent. The Brothers again applauded loudly. It only took a phone
call from Andrew to have Chris and Brad join us. Chris agreed to the DPD
participation Andrew had outlined and Brad agreed to serve as DPD Pledge
Master, working with a new AGE Pledge Master. His name was Doby and he was
the Brother, who was Pledge Bobby's older brother. I spent my time with
Terry and the other Pledges telling them what I had learned about being a
Fraternity Brother. It was after midnight before we returned to our Frat
House.
