But then the telephone rang breaking the stare and the hug we both
shared. He excused himself and answered the phone. I checked the clock
and noticed that my next class was about to start in a few minutes, thus I
got up and fixed my composure. I looked at Chris and waved good-bye. His
eyes appeared to have a story of their own, but what was it? I didn't
have a clue.
"Hold on a minute?" He asked the other party on the phone. " Hey, you
going to class now?" I nodded to him and wiped my eyes fully. So he
continued, "Are you gonna be OK... Wanna come back afterwards?" Again I
nodded and left the room.
I took a deep breath and walked out of the student union building with
the intention of going straight to class. I didn't want to be bothered by
or roamed to school before actually entering the class. I had to think
some things out. Going back to my past wasn't that awful or beautiful. It
just made me wander of the things I used to do. And how I used to do them.
I sort of smiled at that-knowing the 'terrible' acts I've committed as a
kid.
It wasn't long after that I came across Viviann, the beautiful girl
that's very close to me. Her bright smile was recognizable from miles
away. I had no clue of whatsoever of why she was always happy to see me.
It was just incredible. Well, I'm lying. I know she wanted me. And she did
try her best to make me aware. Well, of course we kissed a couple of
times. But, that was that.
I approached the only female I really spoke to with a big hug.
"Hey, how you doing?" I asked with sadness in my voice, but not
intentionally.
" What's the matter? You look as if you were crying, what happened?" She
quickly asked as he observed my face with precision.
"Oh, it's the Visine I just dropped... Thheyy... My eyes were dry" I smiled.
"Ha! Ha! And I thought otherwise. I know you're the man, you wouldn't
shed a tear." She assured me and playfully punched my shoulder. Little did
she know, right?
"Yeah, yeah, yeah... We're gonna be late for class." For some reason I felt
embarrassed. We headed to class as we spoke about other things.

It was the last class of the day for me, but I still had to stay on
campus. Work of course. But, before I went to work, I headed to the
student union building to meet with Chris. I knocked and walked in. He
was alone...
"Huh! What's that? You're alone again what happened to all 'fishes' that
be in here?" I laughed out loud.
"Why do you call them fish?" he asked defensively.
"Well, obviously, because they smell like... you know... fish. You straight
boys should know that!" I sat down on the couch.
"No they don't! and... and... So when you call me fish, you mean to say that
I smell like one." I took a deep breath and said,
"Well my dear," he got up and moved towards me. "I'm not saying, I'm just
saying." He chuckled and I laughed lightly. He brushed his goatee with his
fingers and looked at my facial features with care and softness. I looked
up at his the same exact way. He smiled lightly, exposing those pearly
whites. After an ever lasting paused he said,
"So how are you feeling, I mean, how was class?" He then moved towards
the bookshelves. I got up and sat on his desk as I inhaled loudly.
"T'was OK... if you're talking about my... my... you know... situation earlier,
I'm strong Chris. I'm a strong young man. I've been through a lot and
conquered them all." He turned to face me.
"That's great! I wished I was this strong..." He dazed off. I gave him a
sarcastic smile and took a seat back on the sofa. I crossed my legs like
a Diva in training, and you know how that is. He looked at me with
astonishment and quickly pointed at my knees while shaking his head. I
knew what he was saying and smiled as I fixed my self. He continued on,
"So... Listen, I'm sorry you had to experience that all over again. I... I
saw the hurt and pain your encountered and... and..." He began to say when I
interrupted with,
"And you too have something to confess right?" There was a paused.
"Well, yeah... Since we are being true to one another... I do have something
in my closet as well."
"And yeah, I knew all along Chris!" With conviction I added. He chuckled
and looked at me with a sensual look. I never saw that side of him before,
and I quickly melted. Maybe he wasn't a fish after all. I invited him to
come sit by me- come to momma and pour your heart out. He then took a deep
breath and shook his head.
"I'm not what you want me to be..." And my heart sunk. Oh God! He wasn't
'Happy'. How could I be so fucking stupid? "... Nope! I'm not the fish you
want me to be- I'm a man." My eyes quickly rolled on the floor.
"Don't look like that? You haven't even heard the story, yet." He added.
I looked disappointed.
"You are straight?" I trailed off. He chuckled lightly, and turned around
to face me on the sofa.
"I don't know what I am, Q... Someone before has hit on me. It was... it was
an experienced that I had and I had to deal with it."
"What you mean?" I quickly looked at him. "What are you saying?"
"Yo, this cop hit on me and blah, blah, blah."
"Don't blah, blah, blah me... Give me the whole dirt, man. What happened?"
I was such a gossiper that it was not funny. He was still facing me on the
sofa, but his eyes where on the wall, as if he could see the story play
before him.
He laughed lightly before he began.

Well, this started when I used to work in Brooklyn. I didn't have a car
back then so I would take the subway to work. It was interesting how I
would always get in the middle car at all times. I was always on time and
never missed my spot. I wasn't and I'm still not a nosy person, so I never
checked who was next to me or who got in or off of the train. All I knew
was that I had to be at work.
Subways in New York, at one point, gets very crowded, so most of the time
the passengers are squeezing you. They don't really care what they do to
you; they just want to reach their destination on time. So one day, as
I'm taking my ride to work, I noticed that there was a cop next to me. He
was really close, as in I could almost hear him breath down my neck.
I looked up at him with the quizzical look on my face, asking him why was
he so close to me. But, what would be the point. We were in a subway car.
Nonetheless, his look back at me was none other then, I'm not doing this
on purpose. Or was it what I thought it meant. Well, it happened that one
day he also got off my stop and began walking besides me. Being the
gentleman that I am and having the outmost respect to the person guarding
our streets, I greeted him with a nod.
On that day it seemed as if we were the last two in the station. But what
was really happening is that everyone was minding their business. He also
greeted me with a nod, and quickly extended his right hand to me, as he
blurred out a name. At first, I didn't understand how my greeting led to a
handshake and name, but then it struck me that maybe he wanted me to join
the force as well.
I quickly shook his hand that was still extended, and said,
" I'm sorry, what was that?"
" Trevor. Trevor Smith is the name." With a deep voice.
" Oh... Chris." I didn't bother to give him my last name. At that point, we
were standing by the turnstile, about to exit the station.
" Nice to finally meet you." He said with a pleasant smile, which caught
me off guard.
" Oh... How... Why..." Were the words that whispered out of my mouth.
" I see you on the train every morning that you go to work," he paused to
let someone through, and realized that I was in awe. " apparently, you've
never noticed me?" I chuckled, and shook my head in disagreement.
"Nah, I never... I never did pay attention to that." I now stood straight
on both feet.
"Well, its amazing how you always think that nobody is observing you and
someone is... Sees your every move... Are you in a rush to work?" He asked
with his deep green eyes fixed on mines.
"Uh..." I began to think at my last activities. Did I do something against
the law? Or something illegal on the streets and didn't bother to check?
While I thought, I quickly rolled my eyes down to my wrist watch for the
time. But I was always seventeen minutes early for work. " Well, I'm
always really... really early for work. So I guess not."
"Great. Maybe we could catch a cup of coffee at the Donut shop... It's a
couple of blocks away from the agency you work for." He trailed of, as he
led the way to the exit. I was in total shock. How did he know where I
worked? Why was he following me?
"Is there something wrong? What's the matter officer?" I asked still in
the same spot he left me.
"Please, Trevor. And nothing... Nothing is wrong. Come on, we will talk
about it over coffee."
He was a young White man with well-groomed blond hair, and a perfect tan.
At the shop we spoke about the force, about Brooklyn, and things that I
do. We joked around, and began laughing out loud in the shop. And it was
an early Monday morning. He then volunteered the reason that he was
observing me or paying close attention was because I was reading a John
Grisham book. And of course he's a big fan. He told me that he has almost
all of his books, and if I want I could stop by to check on them.
I got his number and address, and off I was to work exactly seventeen
minutes later. Well, one thing led to another-being a big fan of John
Grisham-we set a date to meet at his place. He wanted me to borrow the
books one at a time. And in between we hung out and stuff.

I quickly snapped at Chris, "Was he allowed to do that?" Chris looked
interrupted.
	"Uh, I don't know... I'm not sure."
"Well, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stop you from pouring out the juice."
He chuckled, and continued on.

It turned out to be that he was 23 years old, 6' 4", 195 pounds of pure
muscle, single, lives in his own apartment in Queens, and an amazing
reading partner. Until one night, as we read a book from a famous author,
he made his move. We were sitting on his sofa when I began to feel his
stare burn my face. I looked up, smiled, and looked back down at my book.
I still felt his glare on me.
"What's up? Is it any good?" I asked him, as I yawned. He smiled lightly.
	"Chris?"
"Huh?" I laid the book on my lap, and turned to face him.
"Is it true that you never noticed me on the train before we met?"
"Huh? Nah, man." With a quizzical look.
	"Are you serious?"
"Yeah man... What's up? Why?" He moved closer to me, but it was not that
close to push me away.
"So that means, you never felt that I was touching you?"
	"..." A blink stare.
"You never felt that..." And he brushed his fingers on my forearm. I looked
down at his fingers brushing against my skin, and quickly felt this
electricity run over me. I instantly pulled my arm away.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked with my eyes still looking at his
fingers, as if the glow from the electricity was apparent.
"I was simply asking a question..." with a low and sensual voice. I then
look up at his eyes, and they locked.
"Ever since the first time I saw you on the train, I wanted to touch you
and kiss you..." He again moved closer, but now he removed our books from
the sofa, and rested them on the coffee table. He then reached out and
rested his firm vanilla hand on my cargo shorts, my lap. He began to
stroke up and down. Instantly, I held his hand and wanted to say, yo man
chill, I aint down with this. But, then, he took that same hand and lifted
up to his lips.
He kissed my fingers lightly. The feeling that I was getting out of this
was overwhelming. I wanted to stop but I couldn't. He then took his right
hand and reached for my chest. Gently rubbing it. I gasped and swallowed
hard. From there, he moved closer, almost leaning on me, and searched for
my lips. He kissed me, and I hesitantly kissed him back.
Actually, I jerked my head. But, he softly kissed my neck and held my
head gently, and passionately tongued kissed me on the sofa. And then, he
went down on me and that's it.

I had a big smile across my face. But then realized that Chris wasn't
done or was he?
"What do you mean that's it?" I quizzed.
"I mean... that's how he got me and he's been the only one so far."
"No... no... no... I want the real juice. Tell me everything." He chuckled and
looked at me with those red lips of his.
"Well, if you want more, you best play your cards right?"
"Cards? I didn't know this was a game?" I asked as I stood up and faced
him with arms crossed.
"Oh, no? Well, my man, all I'm saying is that if you want more you have
to come and get it." He said as he stood up, inches away from me.
Literally, breathing over me.
"Oh, you're playing hard to get?" I smiled.
"Aint nothing hard yet?" The way he said that made me want to kiss him
right then.
