That's Impossible, isn't it?

Chapter 10

"What do you mean I have to get off the ship?" I asked, looking at my Dad,
who was giving nothing away with that expression. "And why does Craig have
to go also, may I ask?" I asked, and again that face; he would make a great
poker player.

"Look, Bobby, we need to take the Hope and look for something, ok?" he
replied,

I know a little bit more than he thinks I do.

"You mean you are going after the Krile ship," I replied, and he didn't
look as shocked as I thought he would have been,

"Yes we need to find it, and find it fast," he responded,

"To get our people back?" I asked,

"Yes Bobby, we need to find them and rescue them, and all non-military
people are being moved to the fleet," he added.

"Dad, I can help; you know I can. I can help in the medical bay, or
something," I pleaded; I really wanted to help in some way. "Look, Bobby,
you can help by staying and looking after your mother and help if they need
it here," he added. "And Bobby, the way things are now, I am going to train
you to look after yourself, self-defence and things like that," he said,
holding my shoulder.

"Dad, I already know Judo and taekwondo, and just short of the black belt
grade in both, so maybe I could teach you a thing or two," I responded,

"Well maybe, but your old man knows a thing or two, as well, you know," he
added kissing my forehead.

"Go pack your stuff. Your mother will be waiting," he said, looking at me
for a back remark, but one wasn't coming, I did as I was told, I had
already guessed I would not get my own way on this one, I just hoped they
would be all right.

I walked back to my and Craig's quarters and found him already packing some
things.

"I guess you heard? "I asked, looking at him and he was certainly just as
pissed as I was,

"They have no right to stop us going," he moaned out, "I can be of some
use" he added,

"Look Craig, I know that you can sense that I am just as pissed at this as
you are," I replied, going over and wrapping my arms around him.

"We could stay on board, you know. We could hide on the holodeck," he
informed me, and by the look on his face, he meant what he was saying.

"We could hide out, there, give them enough time to leave the fleet, and
walk back to our room. They would have to let us stay, then," he went on,
and by the sounds of it he had thought long and hard about this.

"You know my feelings on this, Craig, I stay where you stay," I responded.

We packed our stuff, and went and said our good byes and good luck's to our
dads. We walked with others toward the transporter, but slowly dropped to
the back, and then dropped off completely, we walked back towards the
holodeck, Craig opened it, and we sat on the grass, of our campus, and
waited for the fleet to move off, and for us to go after the Krile ship.

I don't know how long we were in the holodeck, but we fell asleep, and when
we woke up, several soldiers, along with my father stood over us.

"Bobby, what are you still doing here?" he demanded. "Craig, your father is
not a happy person at this moment," he informed Craig, looking down on him,
"Bobby, I asked you to do just one thing, now what if we both get killed,
your mother will be all alone," he berated me.

"Sorry, Dad, I wanted to help," I insisted, and Craig, sensing my anxiety
wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"The way you were helping was by looking out for my wife, your mother, but
now, I have to worry about you being safe," he added.

"Dad, back off. I am twenty years old, I am NOT a child, I have a partner
that I have to worry about. I am capable of helping; can't you see that?
stop seeing me as that little boy who fell off his fucking bike!" I
screamed out. Craig held me tighter.

"I am sorry if you think I inconvenience things for you, but Dad, I am not
a child, stop treating me as one," I added.

"I am sorry if you think you are an inconvenience, Son, you are far from
it, I just don't want to see you hurt, and on this mission, you very well
could be," Dad replied.

"Dad, just trust me, I really can help," I replied, and my dad looked
pensive, he scratched his head, rubbed his hand over his face and sighed.

"Ok, ok you follow my orders, and when the shit hits the fan, and it will,
you do exactly as I say, no deviations, got it?" he yelled at me.

"Yes, Sir!" I responded, and he smiled and pulled me into a strong fatherly
hug,

"Please, Bobby, I need you to do what I tell you," he repeated,

"Yes, Dad, you have my loyalty and my word," I replied.

"Craig, I think you'd better go and speak to your father, I will let him
know you are on your way, and what my decision is regarding my son," Dad
said, looking at Craig who had now reattached himself to my arm.

"Thank you, Major. I will contact him, but I am the same as Bobby is. I am
not a child, and I know my father will respect my decision as an adult,"
Craig said with authority and determination.

"Craig, that may be, but you will abide by my orders, as will Bobby. I need
you to understand that what we are doing is very dangerous, but
necessary. If we are to safeguard the future of your people and ours, the
majority of Earth's fighting forces are back in the Earth fleet, and they
are a few months behind us, so right now, it comes down to us to make sure
the Krile do not harm nor experiment on our people, or if there is a
conflict, we would have already lost, so I need you to follow my orders to
the letter," my father said in a long winded manner,

"Sir, like my Ro-Lok, you have my loyalty and my word," Craig responded,
and the look on my dad's face was one of amazement and shock.

"Ro-Lok?" asked my Dad,

"I will explain, Dad, it's sort of a commitment we made to each other, and
we are, according to his customs, married!" I added, realising there was no
point in stalling.

"Sir, Lokites bond with only one partner, and that bond lasts for the rest
of their lives. It has its benefits as well as complications. I sense what
he feels, as he senses what I feel. This bonding occurs when we first mate
and becomes stronger the longer we are together," Craig said, and a red
heat permeated my face, and sweat started to build.

"Ok, guys, too much information, but, ok, I get it," Dad responded, with a
smile and winked at me as he and the soldiers left the holodeck.

"We'd better go and see your dad," I said, kissing his forehead.

"Yeh, you are right, but I know my dad; he will respect my decision," he
added, and we walked out of the room and headed out to talk to Levert.

"How long do you think it will take to find the Krile ship?" I asked Craig.

"Bobby, you know just as much as I do," he replied as we came to Levert's
room.

Craig pressed the pad on the door and waited, the door opened and we
walked in, "Craiglessty, I cannot say that I am surprised, but I am
somewhat disappointed," Levert said as we walked in and stood in front of
him like two scolded school boys.

"Father, you have always known I am strong willed, and you have accepted my
decisions as I make them, so what is so different now?" Craig asked.

"Son, this is a very dangerous situation. You are my son. My wife and your
brother are both on board the Triumph, I was relying on you to watch over
them, if things went wrong," he explained.

"Father, I need to be more of a help than a babysitter," Craig insisted.

"Father, I have been trained to defend myself I had that taught to me
before we even left Lokite, so I am no dead weight, neither is my Ro-Lok,"
He added.

"But wouldn't you rather Bobby be safe?" His father asked.

"Sir, I am sorry for interrupting, but we are strong and capable of being a
help, and to be cast aside like weak woman, or children, well...Sir, that
just insulted both of us, as grown men," I informed him, and Craig once
again sensing my anxiety wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Ok, I can see I am not going to win this argument," Levert replied, and
looked at each of us, then stared at his son who stood steadfast and with
his arm draped around me. He didn't quite carry it off.

"Ok, both of you will be with Major Barnes, the prefect has seen fit to put
your father in charge of this rescue mission, Bobby, so you will both
follow all his commands, do I make myself clear?" Levert ordered out, and
we stood and thanked him for his faith in us. We left his room and headed
for ours.

"That was tough. Well, at least we didn't get sent back to the fleet, this
ship has two shuttle crafts, and they could have easily done that, you
know," said Craig, pulling me on to his body, as we fell onto our bed.

"We do have to do as my dad says. Mind you, Craig, he does know what he is
doing," I said, now hugging his chest and inhaling his aroma. "My dad
trusts him, so that is always good enough for me," responded Craig.

We fell asleep embracing each other as we did so, we are heading for
something I would never have contemplated a few months ago, I was flunking
college, and now I am going into the unknown, looking for an alien craft
that had taken dozens of our people, and furthermore, my dad was leading
the rescue.

Meanwhile, back on the bridge...

"Helmsman, report?" asked Major Barnes.

"Nothing yet, Sir, I still have a lock on its plasma trail, Sir," the
helmsman responded.

And suddenly the science officer, young and still very nervous yelled "Sir,
I have a contact it's faint, but most definitely there."

"Shields up," Major Barnes, instructed, "Tactical, when you have a lock,
keep it locked," he demanded,

"Yes Sir" was the tactical officer's response.

"Do we have a visual, yet?" asked the Major. The screen appeared and a vast
area of space was displayed. "Is it the same ship?" Major Barnes asked.

"Yes sir, it has the same scratch on its forward array," the Science
officer replied.

"Hold position," the Major instructed.

They watched and refined the plan to go over and commandeer the ship and
rescue the people who had been taken. They had obtained the ship's
frequency from the prisoner who didn't have a choice when his oxygen had
been removed from his cell several times, and he gave them all they needed
to know, to mount a rescue mission.

A couple of hours later with the Boys...

"Look Dad, just be careful, ok, and yes, we will stay and monitor the
situation from here, but Dad, no more treating me like a kid, ok?" I
insisted and hugged my father in the transport room, he stood there with a
dozen fully armed soldiers, each wearing protective armour and masks, I
watched as my father climbed onto the pad.

"See, I told you Star Trek could be real," I said to him and he smiled, "I
love you, Son," he said as he disappeared in the dazzling whirl of
sparkles.

"I love you, too, Dad"

To be continued...

Well I hope you are still with me, let me know what you think
