Alright.  This story might come a little confusing for the first chapter.
It takes a bit to wrap your head around.  It's not so much that
Gay-Straight in this world.  It's that roles and labels have been switched.
Bestfriend is treated as a boyfriend would and having a girlfriend means
having an exclusive female/male relationship and that's all.  Also guyXguy
is looked on as normal to varrying degrees.  For example: A peck on the
cheek is worth as much as a pat on the back and a shake of the hand.

A Love of Friends

Chapter 1:

The music was loud.  It was good music.  But it just couldn't drown out
Ray's thoughts. Marrin's sweet 16.  He hadn't really wanted to come, but as
tag-along guest, he had decided to make his appearance.  An appearance
which culminated in a gloomy hunch on the back steps as far away from the
fun and excitement that was surprisingly well constructed for a back yard
birthday barbecue.  Pepsi in hand, he tried to drift of into oblivion.

"Ray?" a familiar voice cut across his thoughts.

Ray looked up from his hunched position.  He hadn't notice the music switch
from live instruments to DJ tunes.  The laughter and dancing continued on.
Focusing on the direction the question had originated, Ray recognized the
short cut dark brown hair and cream-toned features of his best friend's
face.

"Ray, you okay man?  Where's Sarah?  I was looking for you guys all over
the crowds.  I thought you forgot to come or something."

"No.  We, had a . . . an argument.  I don't think we'll be talking for a
while."  replied Ray.

"What?  But you guys are like perfect boyfriend-girlfriend material."

"Jod, I dunno.  It-I-something small just blew out of control. Maybe I
shouldn't have come.  I'm like totally depressed right now."

Jod stared empathically into Ray's sad eyes.  "You know what.  You need to
get your mind off her.  You and me.  Some alone time."  Ray looked out at
the crowd, finding it hard to believe they could find someplace to be alone
with so many people, then looked back into Jod's eyes.  "Come with me," Jod
pulled Ray up into a standing position.

"But don't you have another set?"  Ray asked.

"No, we're done for the night.  The guys are just putting away the guitars
and drums and amps.  We were planning to just hang for a while anyway."
answered Jod.  He led Ray through the sliding doors into the large, dark,
unlit house.  Ray followed Jod down a couple of hallways and to a large
room.  There was short pool built into the rough floor of the room.  Ray
saw the shower rooms connected to the pool room at the opposite end.

"I can't believe Marrin has an indoor pool!  Are we aloud in here?" Ray
asked, a little confused.

"Nobody is aloud to go into the house for the party, but since Marrin's my
cousin, I don't think her parents will mind just the two of us using the
pool."  said Jod.

"Okay, if you say so." replied Ray.  Both boys stripped down from their
clothes and Ray waited while Jod grabbed some towels from the shower rooms.
When he came back they both slipped into the cool water, illuminated by the
underwater lights at the edges of the pool, making the water glow a calm
pastel green.

Ray swam a circle and then raced Jod in completeing a few laps.  Then both
boys closed in on each other in the shallow end, now used to the
temperature, submerged up to the shoulders.  Jod brought his lips to Ray
and ray rapped his arms around Jod, pulling there bodies together, pushing
water out of the way until their chests and abs were rubbing against each
other.  Ray tasted Jod's tongue as it slipped delicately through his lips.
They continued to kiss lightly and passionately, letting the undulating
waters gently urge them around in a sensual ballet.  Their hard cocks now
rubbing up against eachother as well. Jod brought his hand, pushing Ray's
mid-length blond hair out of his eyes.

Finally, it got to the point where both boys were in so much pleasure Ray
pushed off the pool floor, and in a slowmotion movement, brought his legs
up wrapping them around Jod's waist.  With Jod's assistance, Ray succeded
in slipping onto Jod's long rod.  Ray met Jod's lips once more, and then
pulled back.

"Thank you for cheering me up man.  I can always count on you."  Ray
whispered.

"That's why we're best friends." Jod replied.

Ray, leaned his head over one of Jod's shoulders and closed his eyes,
hugging Jod's body to his with his arms and legs, and enjoying the feeling
of their union.  Jod as Ray's best friend.  Ray beleived he could never ask
for a better lover.  Soul mate.
