Chapter 2:

I sat there stunned for a moment because I wasn't sure I had heard his mom
right. I then looked in Chase's direction and I saw his lip begin to
quiver. I placed my hand on his shoulder and said that it'd be alright and
that we should gather his things and leave. After we picked up his clothes
off the lawn, we headed to my house. When we got there, my mother was there
to greet us.

"Hi, honey", she said.

"Hi, mom."

She came out of the kitchen and saw that I had Chase with me and could
instantly see that something was wrong. My mom was good at reading people.

"Hi, Chase."

"Hi, Mrs. Hughes."

"What's with the Mrs. Hughes stuff? You know you can call me Mary." Anyway,
"What's up guys?"

Chase:

Before the story continues, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chase
Carter and I am 14 ½ years old with jet black hair and blue eyes. Like my
friend Aaron, I have a slim build and not much else quite yet. I am
hairless like Aaron though.

"My mom kicked me out", I admitted.

"That's awful", Aaron's mom said. "Why did she do that?"

"Ummm..." I trailed off, looking at Aaron.

"It's okay", Aaron said.

"Because I'm gay." I said, fighting back the tears.

"That's just awful." Mary said.

Aaron:

"Mom, can Chase stay with us until we figure out how to help him?"

"Well of course he can."

"Go on upstairs and get Chase settled in your room, while I call your
father."

My dad was a lawyer at a big firm in town which accounted for our
comfortable living. We live in a five bedroom house with three bathrooms.

We got up to my room pretty quick and I opened the door. It was a good
sized room with a queen sized bed, a desk and a walk-in closet. My room was
the only one that didn't have a bathroom attached, but there was one right
across the hall.

"See", I said, "That wasn't so bad, was it?"

Chase gulped. "No, I guess not."

"I can't believe your mom is okay with it."

"She's great like that." I said.

"Are you sure you're okay with it?" Chase asked with a nervous crack to his
voice.

"I'm positive." I replied.

Chase's eyes started to water up again. He was dealing with so much, and I
knew we had to help him.

I knelt in front of him, took his hands in mine and said, "Everything is
going to be alright, I promise you."
