After school that Friday, Nathan and I waited for my parents to pick us up.
The snow was falling fast and hard outside and we waited in the lobby.  As
we waited, Kevin came up to us and he was smiling from ear to ear.

"Hey guys," he said.

"You won't be seeing much of me tonight after the dance," he said and sat

"Why's that?" I asked.

"I'll be doing some stuff with Cody afterwards," he said and smiled.  I had

the restroom and he wheeled away leaving Kevin and I alone.

"Cody has a guest house next to his house and a few nights ago when you
were in your room," Kevin went on.  "I talked to mom and dad as well as
Cody's mom about he and I staying the weekend there like you and Nathan.
I'm glad Nathan took off just now, I kind of feel like I'd be alerting him
to what you have in mind."

"Thanks for that," I said and patted him on the back.

I hadn't been around Cody's yard so I didn't know about the guest house,
but now I obviously did.

"They don't use the added house much," Kevin said.  "I saw the building
when I first came to his house and they said that they use it only if his
cousin Aaron comes to town for a visit.  Aaron lives out of state and him
and his partner stop by once or twice a year and while they're there, they
like to sleep in that house and let Cody and his mom have the main house."

"Cool," I said.

Nathan returned and we all three continued talking.  Soon though, my
parents arrived and we all three went home to get ready.  Cody had his
clothes at his house and his mom would bring him over soon.

Once back home, Nathan and I got showered and changed in to our dress
clothes, and we fixed our hair.  Once we finished up, I had him go and get
us a snack from the kitchen.  Once ready, we sat on our bed and I held him
close.

"I'm so excited about tonight," I said.

"So am I," he replied.  "It'll be so nice to spend that time with you."

"I agree," I answered.

Cody arrived a little after 4:00 P.M. and we hugged and he looked at me in
what I was wearing.  I had on a white dress shirt, black dress pants and a
Kelly-green tie.

Cody was wearing a white dress shirt as well along with black dress pants
and a sky-blue tie.  He looked nice and I told him so.

"You look nice also," he replied as we walked to my room.

"Best of all," I said as I walked with him in to our room and closed the
door.  "The teachers didn't give us any homework tonight nor for the
weekend."

Kevin and Cody walked in followed by Alicia.  I made room for them on my

"I'm surprised that any of us got any sleep last night," Nathan said.

out of the car and in to the building.

Cody and I walked in holding hands and I was a bit nervous, but at this
point, I didn't care if people knew or not.  Fuck anyone who didn't like it
was what I was thinking at the time.  We walked along and soon the music
started.

Nathan and I slow-danced to several songs and mainly sat out the fast ones.
I noticed that Kevin and Cody were doing the same thing.  Alicia was

named Eric.

with us and I saw that Kevin and Cody did the same with a couple of new
girls who started at the school only a few weeks ago.

I was currently dancing with a girl named Rachael and Nathan was dancing
with a girl named Beth.  Rachael had described herself as being around my
height and had black hair and blue eyes.  Beth was blond-headed and with
green eyes.  They were both really nice and didn't have a problem with
Nathan and I or Kevin and Cody being couples.

"Thanks for letting us dance with you a couple of times," Rachael said
after we finished the second dance together.

"You're welcome," I replied.  "I was happy to do it."

Beth and I danced once more and Rachael went back to Nathan, then it was
Nathan and I back together again.  Eventually though, Rachael, Beth, Nathan
and I went outside.  Where refreshments were and so we could give our ears
a break from the music.

"It's been nice meeting you both," I said to Beth.

"Oh, it's been really nice meeting you and Nathan," she said smiling.  "I
hope you won't take this the wrong way, but if you were straight, I'd do
you."

"Beth!" Rachael said pretending to sound more annoyed than she was.  "Don't
make him feel uncomfortable."

"Oh relax chick," she shot back.  "You know you'd do the same."

I laughed and smiled at them both.

"Seriously though, Beth continued.  "You guys told us while dancing that in
going together, you've basically came out and I'm sure that everyone here
has seen the two of you.  If anyone gives you any shit on Monday, let us
know.  Rachael and I support you both and will look out for you."

"Thanks," I said deeply touched.

"You're welcome," she replied.  "You two are really nice and I think of you
as friends."

"I feel the same way," I said.

"So do I," Nathan added.

"No one should be fucked with because of who they love," Rachael said.  "No
one at all."

"I'm glad you feel that way," Nathan said.

"So am I," I added.

"Rachael and I have known one another since we were five and my parents as
well as hers are both fairly opened-minded, especially when it comes to
people who are in the GLBT Community," Beth explained.

"She's right," Rachael interjected.  "her parents as well as mine have
brothers and sisters and some of them are gay and lesbian and one is trans,
so it's nothing new to us talking to people who are like that."

"I'm really glad we met you guys," I said.

"So am I," Nathan added.

"So are we," Beth said.

"You both are really nice guys," Rachael said.

The door opened and footsteps sounded.  Alicia said hi to us and Eric was
there and greeted us as well.  I said hi to both of them, then introduced
them formally to Beth and Rachael.  They all four said hi to one another
and after talking for a couple of minutes, Beth and Rachael excused
themselves to go back in after exchanging numbers with Nathan, Alicia, Eric
and I.

It was just Nathan, Alicia, Eric and I standing there and Alicia excused
herself to go to the restroom for a moment which left Eric, Nathan and I
alone with one another.  Eric stepped close to Nathan and I who were beside
one another and I waited to see what was going to happen.

"I just wanted to let you both know that I'm on your side," Eric said.
"Let me restate that, I'm not gay or bi.  What I'm saying, is that though
I'm straight, I don't have a problem with anyone who's gay.  I have a
couple of cousins who are gay and from an early age I spent time with them.
They're older than I am and when I was younger, they'd babysit me sometimes

"Thanks," Eric said.  "My one cousin Jack has been with Jesse for a while
and my other cousin Linda has been with Amanda for years as well.  Like I
said, they're all doing well.  Anyway, I mean it, I'll look out for you two
as well as Kevin and'''."

"Cody," I said helping him out.

"Yeah, Cody," he said remembering his name.  "I hope to get to know you
both more as the days go by."

"And Alicia as well?" I asked looking directly at him.

"Her too," he replied.

"If you guys want to date," I began.  "You have my blessing.  Just don't
hurt her.  I mean that."

"I know," he said looking intently at me.  "I know what you're saying
Caleb.  I know what you're communicating to me and I will never hurt her."

"I'm glad to hear that," I said.

"I hope you and her can find happiness with one another," Nathan added.

"So do I," Eric replied.

The door opened again and Kevin and Cody said hi to us.  Then they formally
introduced themselves to Eric and Eric gave them more-or-less the same
declaration of friendship and support as well as protection he gave to
Nathan and I a moment ago.

"Thanks," Cody said.  "That's really nice of you."

"It definitely is," Kevin added.  "Thanks."

"You're welcome," Eric said.  "There's no need to thank me though.  I want
to get to know you guys a little better and when I make friends, I do
everything I can to help and protect them."

"I'm glad to hear you say that," Kevin said.

"So am I," Cody added.

Alicia returned and we all went back in.  We all danced a couple more
dances, switched off with Beth and Rachael again, went back to one another
and soon, the place was winding down.

Kevin and Cody danced one last dance to a song that I surprisingly
recognized as a song by the group Ulver, which was a song called Halling
from the Kveldssanger Album.  I wondered who the D.J. was and mentally
applauded him for his choice in music for that night.  Nathan and I watched
them, then the next song came on which was Everything I Do I Do It for You
By Bryan Adams.

"May I have this last dance?" I asked.

"Yeah," Nathan said and smiled.

I helped him stand and he leaned on me as we turned and I helped him
maneuver.  I looked in the same way that one who's sighted would look
deeply in to their lover's eyes and I couldn't describe in that moment just
how much Nathan meant to me in words.  If someone tried to make me describe
my love for him in words at that moment as we held on and swayed in one

We thanked everyone and I helped him back in to his chair.  Once we talked
with Cody and Kevin for a bit, I called our parents to let them know that
it was over and that we were ready to return home.  They told me that
they'd be there shortly and I closed my phone.

"You guys looked cute together just now when you did that last dance," Eric
said coming up and putting a hand on my shoulder.  "Actually, you guys
looked good in every dance, but on that last one especially."

"Thanks," Nathan said.

"I truly am happy you feel that way," I said.

"No problem," Eric replied.  "I have your guy's backs, you don't have to
worry about that at all."

Nathan and I sat in the lobby and Eric sat with us waiting for Alicia to
return so he could say goodbye to her before our parents got there to take
us back home for the evening.

It sounds like your parents taught you well," I said.  "I mean about

"He moved closer and lowered his voice.

number and I can call you guys at some point over the weekend to talk about

"He asked you guys to keep it to yourselves?" she asked.  "It must be
serious then.  I won't ask you guys to tell me what he said."

She said this last part and hugged both of us.

"I hope it'll be alright in the end though," I said.

"So do I," Nathan interjected.

"Me too," Alicia responded.

While Eric had this conversation with Nathan and I while Alicia was gone,
Kevin and Cody had been using the restroom after finishing up the last
couple of remaining cookies and sodas.  There were four cookies and two
sodas left and they talked about finishing them.  After asking us if we
wanted any of it, we thanked them and said we were fine.  It was a good
thing they were away, I just figured at that point that it would be best if
just Eric, Nathan and I knew about Max's issues for now.

Melissa came to get Cody and Kevin shortly after they finished the sweets
and sodas and we said goodbye to them and watched as they exited the
building.

Our parents arrived and the four of us got in the car and drove away.

"Did you guys have a nice time?" my dad asked.

"It was amazing!" I said.

"I had a wonderful time as well!" Nathan responded excitedly.

"I loved it too!" Alicia said and smiled.  I knew she was thinking of Eric
and I figured that we'd be seeing a lot more of him around in the coming
days and probably the coming months depending on how things played out
between the two of them.

"I'm glad you guys had fun," our Mom said.

We talked a little more and soon we were home.  I had Alicia keep Nathan
distracted while I went to the guest cottage and went in to the first
bedroom at the beginning of the hall where I had the candles set up.  I
carefully lit all of them.  I had four sitting on the bedside table and I
had moved it a few inches further away from the bed so we wouldn't bump the
candles and possibly cause a fire.  Once they were lit, I turned on some
soft music and then moved the blankets and sheet all the way to the foot of

I found the sparkling cider in the fridge and I set it out on the counter.

"You're welcome," My mom said.

"We were happy to do it," my dad added.

"I'll see you guys in the morning," I said.  "Also, thanks for letting
Nathan and I do this for this weekend."

"No need to thank us," my mom said.

"We know you guys are serious about one another," my dad interjected.  "We
want to be supportive in that as long as it continues in a positive way."

"Yes, definitely," my mom replied.

"Good," I said.  "Well, goodnight mom and dad."

"Goodnight," they both replied in unison and after another hug and kiss for

The path from the house to the cottage was cleared of snow luckily, so
