Allen - by tim Part 13

Friday the 13th / Saturday the 14th

The next week started well for the boys. They were now a much closer
group of four friends. The first indication that anything might upset the
happiness of any of the boys occurred on Wednesday. That was the day Allen
accompanied his parents to their therapist.

"I want to start with Judith today." said Dr. Milner. "How are you
feeling today, and is there anything you would like to say at this time?"

Judith replied, "I'm doing well today doctor. I would like to say I'm
glad that Allen has joined us today, because I want him to know that we are
working on being a whole family again."

"Okay." said Dr. Milner. "I would like you to respond to that Allen, and
if at any time you feel a response is appropriate, please speak up."

"Well," said Allen "I know my parents know how I feel. I've told them
that I love them very much, and I hope we are back together eventually. I
want to add now that if there is any way I can support them, or help them
along, all they have to do is ask. I will do anything I can to help."

"Well Allen," said Dr. Milner "that is a very commendable attitude
considering all that you have been through. Ben, do you have any thoughts
on what Allen has said?"

Ben said, "I wish I could feel that I deserve the feelings my boy has
for me. Allen, you mean the world to me and I feel like I've let you down."

"Why do you feel that way Ben?" asked Dr. Milner. "Surely you didn't
know what was going to happen that night, did you? Did Allen give you any
indication that he was going to 'come out' that way?"

"You know I don't hold you responsible for what happened dad." said
Allen. "What happened that night was a terrible misunderstanding that I
should have avoided."

"It wasn't what anyone said or did that makes me feel that way." said
Ben. "This whole thing had happened before, and I should have seen it
coming." Ben's words seemed to jam in his throat, so he paused for a
moment. "I am Allen's father and I should have realized my son was gay. I
should have known something like this could happen. This isn't the first
time I've let someone named Allen down." Ben sobbed a few times, and was
unable to continue for a few moments.

Dr. Milner took this opportunity to ask Allen, "Do you know who you are
named after Allen?"

"Yes." responded Allen. "I was named after my uncle Allen, but he died
before I was born, so I never met him."

"Yes." said Dr. Milner. "I see here in my file that Ben did have a
brother named Allen who was killed during a rape and gay-bashing. Would you
like to fill me in a little more Judith?"

"Certainly doctor." said Judith. "Allen was a very good man, and me and
Ben both thought the world of him. It was a terrible shock to us when he
was killed. Even when all the men involved were convicted and sent to
prison, it was of little solace to us. But Ben dear, I don't understand why
you think you are somehow responsible."

Ben wiped his eyes, cleared his throat, and said, "Because if I had
cared enough about my brother's well being, I could have prevented the
whole thing. The night Allen was killed I had stopped at a bar to have a
drink with some of my friends from the bar. One of them asked why Allen
didn't join us that evening. I had known the man for a few years so I
didn't think there was anything wrong with giving him an honest answer. I
told the man he was getting ready to go to a party with some of his gay
friends."

Ben stopped for a moment to take a drink of water and clear his
throat. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, and then continued, "The
man's expression did change somewhat when I told him that, but he seemed
interested in knowing more. He told me he thought he might be gay and might
like to check it out later, so I gave him some information on the
party. Later the man and another friend of his left the bar abruptly, and
some of my other friends thought I should be concerned. I told them the man
was probably just curious, and that my brother could take care of himself
anyway. The man who lured Allen from the party was the man who left with my
friend. My so called friend was one of the other men who were convicted. I
was so ashamed that I never told anyone about this."

Allen and Judith stared wide-eyed at Ben as he completely broke
down. The doctor tried to console Ben, and keep Judith and Allen from
falling apart. Allen was stunned by what had happened but was able to
function at the end of the session. Judith was very visibly shaken and
seemed to be in a daze. By the end of the session Ben had to be sedated to
the point that he was unconscious.

Dr. Milner talked Judith into admitting Ben into a psychiatric care
center. He accompanied the family there, and agreed to take Allen back to
the Cooper's house. Before Allen left he told his mom to not let his dad
blame himself and that his son still loved him very much, then he gave his
mother a tearful hug. Dr. Milner assured Judith he would come right back to
care for Ben.

By Friday Allen had begun to cheer up a little. The boys were nervous
that Friday the 13th would bring some kind of bad luck, but the entire day
went pretty smoothly. Friday night Allen and Rusty watched a few movies
together on the television. The first one was a gangster movie about a
famous mob shoot-out that happened on Valentine's Day. The second movie was
a slasher film about a maniac who sent valentines to people, then killed
them. At bedtime Rusty was very excited because tomorrow was the big
Valentine's Day dance.

Rusty spent all day Saturday, trying to put together the perfect outfit
for the dance. In the meantime, Allen was trying to decide what he would do
for the evening. He finally decided to spend the evening with Tom, Calvin,
and Ricky. As Rusty was getting ready to leave, he asked Allen if he wanted
a ride.

"Nah, that's okay." said Allen. "I thought the walk over there might do
me some good. Could I ask you another favor though Russ?"

"Sure buddy." replied Rusty. "Anything you want, within reason."

"Could I get a hug before you go?" asked Allen. Rusty put his arms
around Allen, and the two boys shared a warm hug. "You and Jennifer have a
good time at the dance." said Allen. "I think she might end up being good
for you."

So Rusty got in his car and headed off to the dance, and Allen set out
toward Tom's house. As Allen walked, he thought about a lot of things. All
of his friends seemed to be in some kind of relationship, and Allen felt it
was about time he stopped waiting around for something that was never meant
to be. Maybe Calvin or Ricky might know someone who would be interested in
him. If not, Shane did look kind of hot, even though he did look a little
younger than Allen. But the way Shane danced with him really gave Allen a
feeling that Shane might be interested.

As Allen walked by the park, he didn't even notice a lone car parked on
the street. Suddenly Allen got a chill that ran down his back. He looked
around nervously, but did not see anything. Allen decided that it must be
his imagination getting carried away, so he continued on toward his
friend's house. Without any warning, Allen felt an intense, crushing pain
at the back of his head just before passing out.
_______________________________________________________________________

Rusty and Jennifer had just arrived at the dance. Rusty thought it was
so great that he had a car now, so he could go out on dates in
style. Still, he just wasn't as happy to be here with Jennifer as he
thought he should be. He finally decided that it was just a case of
jitters, after all, Jennifer was a good looking girl. Once inside the
gymnasium though, Jennifer had to practically drag Rusty out onto the dance
floor.

After a few minutes Rusty started getting into the music and dancing,
and the young couple began having a little more fun. Rusty was glad he was
over his jitters, but in the back of his mind he just couldn't shake the
feeling that something was wrong somewhere.

Meanwhile Allen was beginning to regain consciousness, only to realize
that his hands were tied together and his mouth had been taped shut. His
head was hurting worse than he could ever remember. Then everything began
to become clear to him, as Robert Wilson walked into the strange room.

"Well, I see you're awake now." said Robert. "Sorry about messing up the
back of your head. It might heal, if it gets the chance." Robert laughed
maniacally at that remark and then continued, "I saw that scene between you
and Calvin at the mall, although I couldn't hear any of it. It was really
touching. Tell me, you're not some kind of faggot trying to turn my son
gay, are you? No comment, huh? Well, I guess it's about time to put my plan
to work, and bring my son home where he belongs."

Robert picked up his phone and dialed the number for Calvin's cell
phone, which he had bribed out of an acquaintance of Calvin's.

Calvin was laying across his bed with Ricky when he heard his phone
ring. He flipped it open and answered, "Hello. Calvin here."

"Hello, sonny boy." said Robert. "How's my boy been doing?"

"How the hell did you get my number you piece of shit?" Calvin asked
loudly. "Do you know you're violating a restraining order right now?"

"Calvin, is that any way to speak to your father?" asked Robert. "Is
that what that no good coach of yours has been teaching you?"

"Listen here, you asshole!" exclaimed Calvin. "You stopped being my
father when you started beating me!"

"No!" screamed Robert. "YOU listen here, you son of a bitch! You're
going to start showing me proper respect. And you're going to come home and
learn to behave. Do you know why? Because I've got a 45 caliber pistol with
hollow point bullets, and your little faggot friend Allen! Say something to
Calvin, Allen." Robert then ripped the duct tape from Allen's face.

"Calvin!" screamed Allen. "Don't do what he says! He's crazy!"

Robert smacked Allen across the face and said, "My you're a brave little
queer, aren't you?" He put the tape back across Allen's face and returned
to the phone. "Now son, you're going to come home and behave
yourself. You're also going to tell the police that you made this whole
thing up, and I never laid a hand on you. If you aren't here in 15 minutes,
Allen will die. And you better not think I won't do it, or I'll deliver his
dead body to your front door within the hour. I also hope you know enough
to come alone, and don't tell anyone about this."

"If you harm him in any way I swear I'll kill you, you bastard!" shouted
Calvin.

"That is no way to talk to your father." said Robert. "I suggest you
hurry home now, the clock is ticking."

Calvin threw the phone down, and jumped off the bed with a panicked look
on his face. He looked at Ricky and said, "I gotta go somewhere now. I'll
be back later."

Ricky screamed, "Calvin! What's wrong? Where are you going?"

"I can't talk now." said Calvin. "I gotta go!" Calvin then ran from the
bedroom, and grabbed Tom's keys from the kitchen counter on his way to the
front door.

Tom was just coming out of the bathroom as Calvin was going out the
door. Tom said "Calvin, where are you going?", but Calvin ignored him as he
raced out the door. When Tom heard his car start, he raced to the door and
shouted, "Calvin! Get back here!" It was too late though, as the car sped
out of the driveway.

Ricky came running from the bedroom with tears running down his face, as
he cried out, "Tom! Something is terribly wrong! Calvin's father just
called, and it sounded like someone was in danger. Calvin just ran out, and
I couldn't stop him."

"Oh god no!" exclaimed Tom. "Fuck, fuck, fuck! Ricky, you call the
police on the land-line, while I get Mike on the cell phone! Robert's
address is 542 Summer Lane."

Tom grabbed his cell phone while Ricky was calling 911. Then Tom raced
out the door to meet Mike part of the way between the two houses. Ricky
gave the operator Robert's address and told her someone's life was in
danger, then raced out the door to try to catch up to Tom.

Back at the dance, Jennifer had dragged Rusty out to a service
hallway. "Rusty, is something wrong? You've seemed distracted by something
all evening. Is it because you don't like me?"

"No, no." said Rusty. "I like you a lot, and I'm glad I'm here with
you. I just can't shake this feeling that something wrong is happening
somewhere else." Jennifer said, "Well then, maybe I can help you shake
that feeling." She placed her hands against the wall on both sides of
Rusty's head, and then leaned in toward Rusty. Her lips pressed against
Rusty's as she began a long, passionate kiss.

Rusty tried to return the kiss, but he couldn't help feeling that
somehow Allen's lips felt nicer. Then he really began fighting to return
the feelings that Jennifer was putting into the kiss, but no matter how
hard he tried he just couldn't do it. When their lips parted and Jennifer
pulled back, she saw a look of shock on Rusty's face.

"I'm sorry Rusty, I should have known." said Jennifer.

"What?" replied Rusty. "What are you talking about Jennifer?"

"It's okay Rusty." said Jennifer. "Don't worry. I thought I might have
been imagining things, but I guess I wasn't. I still like you though, and
there's no reason we can't be good friends. I've always wanted to have a
gay friend, especially a cute one."

"What the hell are you talking about Jennifer?" asked a scared Rusty. "I
have no idea what you mean!"

"Oh come on Rusty, I wasn't born yesterday!" said Jennifer. "I also know
that you can't be something you're not. Whether you want to admit it or
not, you have it bad for Allen, don't you?"

Rusty looked shocked, confused, and scared all at the same time as he
ran from the school to his car. Then he just sat in his car and cried
uncontrollably. Jennifer gave the poor boy some time to himself, then after
about 15 minutes she went out to the car and got in the passenger seat.

"Rusty, please don't do this to yourself." begged Jennifer. "I really do
care about you, and I don't want to see you hurting this much."

"Then what am I suppose to do?" cried Rusty.

Jennifer said, "Right off the top of my head, I would say go be with
Allen. Find out if this is how it was meant to be, and if it is, stop
trying to fight it. You're only going to end up hurting yourself badly if
you fight it."

As Rusty tried to dry his tears he said, "Jennifer, if I didn't have the
feelings I have inside me right now, I could love you so much." Rusty then
buried his head on Jennifer's shoulder and began crying again.

"I know." said Jennifer, as she tried to comfort Rusty. "I love you too
Rusty, it's just that it's a different kind of love now. You're a friend
now Rusty, and I want to do anything I can to help you. You know something
babe? You could do a heck of a lot worse than Allen. To be honest, if I
hadn't gone after you, I might have gone after him myself. I think you two
really need each other right now though."

Rusty looked up at the girl who was now his friend. Jennifer leaned over
and kissed Rusty on the forehead, which brought a smile back to Rusty's
face.

As Calvin pulled into the driveway of his old home, Robert came out the
front door to meet him. Robert had his arm around a very weak Allen's
throat, and a gun held against Allen's head.

"Now," said Robert, "are we going to come to some kind of understanding,
or are we going to watch this boy's brains cover the sidewalk?"

Calvin looked the situation over and immediately looked beaten. Then he
responded, "Okay, you win."

"Okay, I win what, Calvin?" asked Robert.

"Okay, you win dad." said a defeated Calvin.

"All right!" exclaimed Robert. "Now we're starting to get somewhere. Do
you hear that Allen? You may not have to die after all. Now Calvin, I want
to talk to you about stealing cars. You know that's illegal don't you,
son?" By this time Robert had an evil grin on his face.

"I'm sorry dad, I guess I wasn't thinking too clearly." said Calvin.

"Well," said Robert "we have to do something about that before the cops
track you down. We don't want you getting in trouble with the law, do we?"
Just as Robert said that, a squad car sped into the driveway and two
officers jumped out.

Robert held Allen between himself and the police as he yelled, "You son
of a bitch! What part of 'come alone' didn't you understand?"

   "I didn't call them dad!" pleaded Calvin. "I swear I didn't!"

One of the officers shouted out, "Put the gun down Mr. Wilson and let's
talk this out. You don't want to do something you'll regret later, do you?"

Robert shouted back at the police, "Don't come any closer, and keep your
hands away from your waists! I swear, I won't hesitate to blow this boy's
head off!" By this time Allen was so scared that he was shaking, so Robert
said, "Hold still you little faggot." Allen's face was now covered with
tears.

One of the officers said to the other, "I'm going to call for back-up!"
As he reached for his radio a single gunshot rang out. The bullet hit the
officer just below the breastbone, ripping through his chest and blowing a
large hole through his spine. The officer immediately fell to the ground in
a pool of blood.

Calvin's eyes went wide and the color drained from his face, as he saw
the officer killed in front of him. Allen did not want to see any more, as
he closed his eyes tightly and waited for the bullet that would rip through
his skull.

Robert yelled at the other officer, "Don't you dare twitch one muscle,
or you'll end up just like your pal." Robert then shouted to Calvin, "Get
that cop's gun, tazer, and radio, and throw them off to the side. And son,
be careful how you do it. I don't want to kill you today, but I will if I
have to!"

Robert stood there watching the officer while holding the gun to Allen's
head, trying to figure out what to do next. He hadn't thought things would
go this badly and was now very confused. Calvin was trying desperately to
think of a plan that would save his friend. At this point he didn't care if
he had to sacrifice himself.

Robert then said to Allen, "I'm sorry kiddo, but it doesn't look like
I'm going to have any other choice here. I tell you what though, I'll kill
the other cop first so you can watch him die. That might help make you a
little more comfortable with it." At that point Allen lost control of his
body, urinating on himself.

Just then Mike's car came to a halt in front of the yard. Mike
immediately saw what was going on so he, Tom, and Ricky crawled out of the
other side of the car, using it as cover. Mike shouted out, "Robert! This
whole thing has gotten out of control! Please, think for a minute and don't
make things any worse!"

"God fucking damn it, Calvin!" screamed Robert. "Why didn't you just
call the fucking eleven o'clock news so the whole fucking town would know
what's going on here!" Just then a news helicopter flew overhead with it's
spotlight lighting up the whole yard. Robert screamed out, "Damn it! You
fucking asshole!"

Then Calvin came up with a plan. He just hoped the other officer was
quick enough, so he would live to see if his plan worked.

"Hey daddy dearest," said Calvin "let's talk for a minute."

Robert screamed, "What the fuck do you want now? Can't you see I'm a
little busy here?"

"Come on dear old dad." said Calvin. "I just want to talk to the man
that's responsible for making me what I am today. You've done such a great
job raising the perfect little fag boy."

"What!" screamed Robert. "What the fuck are you talking about boy!"

"I'm talking about me daddy." said Calvin. "But you're wrong about one
thing dad. It isn't Allen that has me warm for his form, ain't that right
RICKY?"

"Yeah Calvin, please be care baby!" yelled Ricky from behind the car.

"Ricky's the one that makes me hot and steamy." said Calvin. "As a
matter of fact, I plan on asking Ricky to marry me as soon as I can!"

Calvin's plan was beginning to work. Robert was turning redder in the
face than Calvin had ever seen him.

Calvin said, "Yeah, I'll marry Ricky unless someone can beat the fag out
of me." Calvin looked Robert directly in the eyes as he said, "What's the
matter daddy, can't you stand the idea of your son being one of 'them'. Why
don't you do something about it? Are you afraid of taking on a fairy, in a
fair fight? Come on daddy, let's do it!"

Robert was seething at this point. He looked over to the officer and
yelled, "Move over away from the front of your car, and don't forget I'll
be keeping an eye on you!" Then he turned to Calvin. "Okay boy, if you want
someone to make a man out of you, I'll do it! I'll teach you a lesson
you'll never forget!"

Robert put the gun in the waistband of his pants, and shoved Allen away
to the ground. Allen immediately lost consciousness. Then Robert and Calvin
squared off against each other. Calvin always knew that some day it would
come to this, he just didn't know the stakes would be so high. The father
and son raised their fists at each other and took a few moments sizing each
other up. Then Robert threw the first punch, connecting to the side of
Calvin's head.

Calvin shook the punch off and then taunted, "Is that the best you got
old man? My slut of a mother could hit harder than that!"

That infuriated Robert. He thought, "How dare that faggot taunt me."
Robert calculated his next move, while Calvin remained in a defensive
posture. Three of the witnesses watched in horror, as the officer waited
for an opening of his own.

Then Robert threw his next punch to Calvin's face, staggering his son
slightly. Suddenly Robert moved around Calvin's right side almost behind
the boy.

Calvin regained enough composure to turn to his right, with his guard up
this time. When Robert took another swing, Calvin easily deflected it. Then
Calvin delivered a blow to his father's chin that sent Robert sprawling to
the ground.

As Robert was getting up he reached for his gun. Calvin thought, "Oh no,
this is it!" as a shot rang out. The officer, who had retrieved his
partner's gun when Robert went down, had hit his mark. The bullet struck
Robert directly between the eyes and blew a large hole through the back of
Robert's head. The man now lay dead in a pool of blood and brain matter.

Calvin immediately went to Allen, cradling the unconscious boy in his
arms and screaming for an ambulance. Mike and Tom ran out to tend to the
seriously injured boy, while Ricky tried to console his boy.
_______________________________________________________________________

After Rusty dropped Jennifer off he headed for home. Rusty was feeling
much better, and he now knew what he had to do. He just hoped Allen would
believe him when he told Allen how he truly felt.

As soon as he walked in the door however, Emily said, "Come on son,
let's go! I've already sent Beth to a sitter for the night."

Rusty asked, "Go? Go where? What's wrong?"

"We have to get to the hospital immediately!" said Emily. "Calvin's
father kidnapped Allen tonight, and Allen has been hurt pretty bad."

Rusty felt his life begin to drain away as he screamed, "Noooooo!" Then
he began crying as he asked, "How could this happen? Why Allen? Please mom,
tell me this isn't happening! Please mom, make it stop hurting! It hurts so
much!" Rusty began crying like a baby in his mother's arms, as Emily held
on to her son.

"Oh my son," said Emily "we know how you feel about Allen, and if
there's anything we can do to help him, we will. Your dad says the doctors
are doing everything they can for him."

"What are you talking about mom?" cried Rusty.

"Come on son, I'm your mother." said Emily. "I know you better than you
know yourself. I've taken care of you your whole life, and I use to bathe
you when you were a baby. I've been able to tell for weeks now that you're
madly in love with Allen. I also knew you were just trying to convince
yourself differently when you started going out with Jennifer. Me and Mike
have talked about this, and if this is what was meant to be then we will
love you both."

Rusty stammered, "You, you mean you and dad both... You guys want me
to... you know, me and Allen. I mean us, together, maybe... doing things?"

"If by 'doing things' you mean making love, you are the only one who can
decide when, and with whom, you want to do that." said Emily. "It's our
role as parents to support you when you reach that decision. But our most
important role is to make sure you are happy. If that means welcoming Allen
into our hearts and our home as a son-in-law, then we will do it with open
arms. We've both agreed that we will try to love anyone you decide to love
in that way. Now, let's go see how your boyfriend is doing son."

With that, Emily drove Rusty to the hospital. She decided to take
Rusty's car because she didn't care if she did get a ticket
tonight. Besides, she thought it might be difficult to get Rusty to leave
once he got there, and she didn't want to leave him there stranded.
