Continued from part nine... Bi Times! by Taylor Quest
PART X

Josh and Eric looked at one another, eyes sparkling hearts pounding. What
they had just witnessed was amazing. Not only had they seen the birth of a
beautiful butterfly, but they had just watched themselves on that branch.
They had been hidden deep in their own cocoons. Then the movement of life
shifted them and they tore free and were now to fly away with each other
leaving the pain of the past behind. The wind blew the sweet smell of
flowers and trees into the shower. Eric turned to Josh with a tear in his
eye and kissed him. The sun beamed in on their faces as they kissed. The
spray from the shower looked like falling stars in the sunlight behind them
in the window frame. They kissed and knew that now, nothing could stop them.

"I think there's someone we should put first on our list," Eric said as he
turned away from the window and began to scrub down with soap.
	"On our, list?"
"Yeah, of people we tell, you know about us, being together now."
"Oh, sure yeah no problem, I guess we'll tell my mom and sister, you think
Barbara has an idea yet, I mean she always seemed to ask very little
questions about what we did."
"Yeah, I know, I think she's got a good idea, but I haven't said anything
to her about it."
"Well today will be the day for your aunt, my mom however won't be home
until late tomorrow night," Josh replied as he soaped Eric's back.

"Wow, not more than forty eight hours ago I wouldn't have dreamed anything
like this could have happened, and now on Monday I'll be telling mom and
Claudia about Eric and I," Josh thought to himself as he smiled.

This being their first real shower together, Josh wanted to take his time.
He wasn't going to rush off like he had before. By now they were both
squeaky clean, hair washed and bodies lathered. Eric looked at Josh, what he
saw made him melt.

Josh's face, so beautiful, famed by the sunlight and shining with water,
his blue eyes shined with a light he had never seen. His perfect face, so
soft and smooth. Even Josh hardly shaved as much as his peers. His face
hadn't matured past it's `boyish' look, still holding the slightly upturned
nose and sparkling eyes. His hair hung in dark golden strands on either side
of his face. A wave of emotion rushed over Eric as he absorbed his lover's
beauty. This was the face that he had loved for so long. He couldn't
remember when he'd felt like this before. One thing for certain, this time
his feelings all clicked. It felt so, `right.' Never again would he ever
have to fear of being lost and without love. This was for `keeps.'

Josh smiled gently at Eric who's entire body had begun to tremble slightly.
The simple act of looking into each other's eyes invoked emotions that they
had only dreamed of. Staring deeply into each other's eyes, absorbing each
other's faces. The sun blasted brightly into the window. It's unhindered
light blasting from it's gaseous interior from millions of miles away seemed
to burn their faces, features, their very being into each other's brains.
Time stopped, it even felt as if each single droplet of water froze in it's
decent to the shower floor. Hung in time, looking into one another's
eyes. Feeling each other's feelings seeing themselves through each other's.
This moment would be permanently placed in their minds long into their adult
lives. Now with a bright future ahead, the small ideals, restrictions and
rules that had held them back all their years no longer seemed significant.
They had each other, the only thing that mattered now. No longer worried if
they fit in, or were how everyone else wanted them. Their love took the
insecurities of their past and completely decimated them, blasting them
beyond memory.

After their shower they dressed. Much slower than before, taking the time
to look each other over in complete detail. This caused them to be
`dressing' for nearly an hour and a half. They had pulled their shoes on
when they heard the front door opening and foot steps skipping into the
kitchen.

"Josh, what's with the phone," Claudia's voice rang from the kitchen.
	"What do you mean?"
"I've been calling you since like nine this morning, the phone is dead!"
"Uh, no sorry, it was off the hook," Josh replied with a bit of a grimace.
Some how it had gotten off the hook. Though neither of them were about to
say how.

"I wanted to see if you, oh hi Eric, how's it goin'?"
	"Oh, great Claudia."
"You ah, hmmm, you seem different," Claudia exclaimed looking at Eric a bit
concerned.
"Oh, I'm great, just wonderful," Eric replied in a dreamy tone.
"Has he, uh been," Claudia asked as she took a drag off of an
invisible joint.
"Oh no, we've just, well I'll tell you later," Josh said looking right
through his sister.
"Oh, ok you too are acting really strange, if I wasn't sure I
would've said you two had been getting `jiggy wit' it."

Josh and Eric looked at each other, both smirking slightly but trying to
act normal.

"Well I'll leave you to love nerds alone," Claudia said leaving the room.
"Oh, hey mom won't be home until tomorrow night," Josh called as she walked
out of the room.
"Wait, don't tell me, another system crash in Denver," Claudia calledout
insincerely.
"What do you mean," Josh replied walking out of the room, Eric
trailing behind him like a puppy.
"You've got to be kidding me, there was no system crash, she's seeing Ted,"
Claudia said as she tossed some stuff around on her desk and switched on the
CD player tapping a few buttons.

"Ted, but, well I didn't... hmm makes sense," Josh said looking off into
nothing thinking about what she had just said.

Her CD player whirred to live and Savage Garden began to pump out into her
room.

"Any time I need to see your face I just close my eyes and I am taken to a
place where your crystal mind and magenta feeling's take up shelter in the
base of my spine sweet like a chica cherry cola. I don't need to try to
explain, I just hold on tight. And if it happens again I may move so
slightly to arms and the lips and the face of the human cannon ball that I
need to I want to. Come stand a little bit closer, breathe in and get a bit
higher, you'll never know what hit you when I get to you. Oooh I want you, I
don't know if I need you but, oooh I'd die to find out," the song played
into the room.

With out knowing Josh had turned around and looked into Eric's eyes. Before
they even remembered they had a fourteen year old audience agape they had
locked in an embrace and were staring deep into one anothers eyes. By the
end of the first set they had began to kiss.

	"Well thank God," Claudia exclaimed.
"Wha- hmmphf," Josh said breaking his kiss from Eric who's head was still
tilted back.
"Finally, you have any idea how annoying it's been seeing you too moon over
each other and not do anything about it?"
	"I, you knew?"
"Well duh, I mean it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that you two
are like so in love," Claudia said looking over at Eric who was still tilted
back with his eyes closed.
"You better throw your friend there a rope, I think he's going
under," Claudia said with a smirk.

Josh looked back at Eric and gently shook him. Eric's eyes opened and he
looked at Josh and smiled. Then he looked over at Claudia and smiled.
Claudia smiled back and shook her head and went off to a corner of her room
and dug around in the mess.

"I'll be back later, Eric and I are going out," Josh said as he and Eric
started out of her doorway.
"That's cool, I'm going to be online in a bit, so don't try to
call," she replied into her clutter.

Walking out side they took a deep breath and looked around them. Now that
they had each other it seemed even more beautiful outside. They also
realized that everyday, weather raining, snowing, or sun that each day would
be just as beautiful, they had each other.

The car swung into the driveway of Barbara Nelson's home. Top down, music
blasting. Barbara had been up since around eight thirty that morning. She
hadn't seen Eric since the day before but she knew he was with Josh so she
hadn't worried. She heard them coming down the street and happened to be
passing the window when they rolled into the driveway. The top was down on
the car and she could easily see them. She had almost returned her eyes to
her magazine article when she saw Josh lean in close to Eric. She stopped
and squinted her eyes trying to focus on the forms behind the heavily glared
wind shield. Josh leaned in and kissed Eric who visibly melted right there,
so much that he looked like he was twice his size. Barbara retracted her
eyes
from their `blunked' out position and slightly shook her head. She had
always thought that Eric and Josh were a bit more than friends. It was that
split second that every little sign and action that had made her wonder
flashed back through her head. Nearly pulling a Homer Simpson Barbara almost
slapped her forehead exclaiming `Doh!'

Chuckling to herself at how she had made a `funny' she smiled and sat down
next to the window. Waiting for them to enter, she was sure what they were
there to tell her. It was something she knew that Eric needed to do. And she
was touched that he felt close enough to her to tell her about Josh and
himself.

"This is good, finally I'll be able to relax," she thought to herself,
knowing Josh was the kind that would take care of her nephew.

The couple broke hand holds as they entered the house. Walking into the
living room Barbara looked up from her magazine with a smile.

"So how are you to boys doing," she smiled at them.
"Oh great, I spent the night last night at Josh's last night," Eric
exclaimed a bit more excited than usual.
"I figured as much, Josh I know how wild a sleeper Eric is, our beds share
a wall, I hope he didn't give you a hard time last night," she knew full
well what she was saying, nearly breaking a smile she did her best to keep
from giggling uncontrollably at the reaction's on their faces.
"Um no, actually he didn't bother me at all, but he did steal the covers-"
Josh stopped himself in mid sentence as he caught himself giving away that
they had slept in the same bed.
"Oh dear, it was chilly last night, I hope you didn't wake up with any
stiff muscles," Barbara exclaimed nearly blowing her cover. She quickly
faked a sneeze to hid her snicker as the boys jaw simultaneously hit the
floor.
"Um BJ, you know I've never been one to beat around a bush," Eric started.
"You're right, you and Josh hang out so much," Barbara started with another
double entendre but Eric continued which told her to quiet down so he could
talk. He was on a mission now.
"So I'm just going to tell you, Josh and I are in love, we've been for the
past four years and now we've decided to become a couple and, well I feel
you should know," Eric said to her.

He knew his Aunt Barbara wouldn't have any words against them. She had
lived in South Beach for heaven's sake! The atmosphere was so `out' there
that it was almost frightening. The only people who wore more make up than
the old Jewish women were the men!
"I know," she smiled back at them.
	"Huh," they both exclaimed.
"Besides how you too look at each other it's obvious, and I can see right
now you're itching to be in some kind of contact, feel free. I've had my
idea's for the past year or so, before I just thought you two were kids
having fun, but the older you got the more I began to think it was a bit
more serious. Plus I saw you kissing in the car before you came in."
Josh and Eric by now had their arms thrown over each other's
shoulders. Visibly relaxed and happy with Barbara's reaction. They both
wondered why they had worried to begin with.

"BJ you're wicked," Josh laughed at her.
Barbara looked at him with a classic `who me?' and smirked.
"All that `hard time' and `stiff muscles' talk," Josh snickered.
With that Barbara laughed out loud with such exuberance that it caught both
he and Eric off guard. Being remind of what she had said sent her into fit's
of laughter.
"You should have seen your faces," she shrieked. She laughed for a moment
more and noticed that she was making a spectacle of her self.
"Pardon me boys, but nature calls," Barbara said as she got up and headed
for the bathroom.
"We're going out, see ya later," Eric called out.
"That's fine," she replied as she went into the bathroom closed the door
and turned on the water.
"Why does she do that," Eric asked out loud.
	"Do what," Josh asked.
Before Eric could explain a reverberating fart ripped out of the bathroom
accompanied by the sound of running water made it sound a bit worse.
"That," Eric replied shaking his head.
"It sounds worse with the water, an elephant with the runs," Eric grimaced.
"Well at least she went to the bathroom," Josh replied trying not to laugh,
Eric's face had turned bright red.
"That's only because you're here, normally she'll just let it go in the
kitchen and claim `Oh dear, I hope their insurance will pay for that,' as
she looks out the window into the street."
	Josh began laughing hysterically.
"Man, the first time she did that I didn't know what to do, at first I
thought something outside had made that noise, but when I looked and didn't
seen anything, and then, well, I caught the wind, I was so shocked."
This only made Josh laugh harder. He was loving Eric more by the second,
which he thought impossible. He leaned in and kissed him gently and winked.
"Let's go," he said as he wrapped his arm around Eric and led him out.

The day passed quickly, the trip to the mall had gone by so fast. Normally
they needed a reason to go. Usually if they didn't plan ahead it was
extremely boring. But now that they were `together' they had walked around
window shopped and not even realized how fast the time had flow. Josh had
only stopped at one place the entire time, a jewelry kiosk while Eric went
to the bathroom.

"Do you have any sterling silver rings," Josh asked the small
elderly looking lady who sat perched in a canvas chair like a small bird in
a nest.
"Oh, yes, what kind are you looking for," she asked as she shifted and slid
her way down to her feet, thus reducing her size by half.
	"Something for," Josh started.
"Your girl friend," she asked as she walked him around to the other side
that was stocked to the hilt with rings.
"Something like that," Josh had replied.
"Well here they all are, if you need any help just ask," she said as she
returned to her perch with an ease she seemed to lack getting down.

Josh scanned over the rings. Avoiding the frilly designs he wanted
something that would be singularly `them.' After looking over nearly every
ring in the stand he were about to leave when two silver rings shined at him
from the back case. Simple in design they had ocean waves circling the band.
Some how this seemed right. Josh found that they were both a perfect fit to
his finger, he knew Eric's finger matched his in size and he paid for the
rings. Which she put into a tiny black velvet sack with a draw string. He
stepped away from the jewelry kiosk over to a calendar shop just as Eric
walked from the bathroom with a strange look on his face.

"Dude, avoid the bathroom's here," Eric exclaimed.
"Why what's wrong," Josh said slightly protective of Eric hoping nothing
had happened to him.
"Oh nothing much just that some dude in the stall beside me had decided to
go White Water Wristing right there in the bathroom."
"Oh man, that's sick, I mean in a public bathroom?"
"Yeah man, and he wasn't shy or anything, he was making all this noise,"
Eric said shaking his head.
	"Sick man, sick."

It was now around ten pm at night. Eric and Josh had been back home for
about an hour when Josh's mom pulled in. She trudged into the house and
dropped her brief case on the floor. She was visibly upset, eyes red from
crying. Claudia knew something was up between her mom and Ted. She didn't
say anything though, it wasn't the time. Claudia heard Josh and Eric coming
down the steps. She thought nothing at first but then her eyes nearly popped
out and she gasped jumping up and running to the hall.

Claudia intercepted them at the foot of the stairs pushing them back up
with her hand over Josh's mouth. Eric figured it would have defeated the
purpose for him to talk since she had covered Josh's mouth.

"Moms really upset, I don't think now is the time to tell her," Claudia
said as she peered over her shoulder down the stairs. There wasn't much
noise other than the ending of the program she had been watching. Then they
faintly heard the slight whimpering coming from Ms. Hendersen. Josh was
upset now, his mom was hurting. On the day he was finally happy with the
world his mother was unhappy.

"KTJV TV Channel 7 News at Ten's Mark Elder," the TV could be heard.
"This is Mark Elder with Katie Malone with KCTV LA and this is the MegoBall
lottery drawing," Josh and Eric looked at each other. Josh was so let down
by this, his mom was not going to be up for this tonight.
"Josh, if Eric's here he need's to go home I'm in no mood for
guests," she called out.
Eric visibly hurt, nearly started to cry right then and there. Josh wrapped
his arms around him, and hugged him.
"You're not going anywhere," he whispered to him.
"Mom," Josh called out. It was now or never.

Josh, Claudia and Eric had just started down the stairs when an ear
splitting scream pierced the air in the house. They all looked at each other
and started down the stairs. Claudia sock footed in front lost her footing
and fell, causing a Josh to trip over her and Eric over him. The screaming
continued as a pile of teen's rolled and thumped down the stairs. Scattering
across the hall floor as they cleared the last step they scrambled to get to
their feet. More screaming.

They were up and around the corner to see Josh's mother standing in
stocking feet in her suit hopping up and down in the middle of the living
room floor. In her hand was a piece of paper receipt sized with something
printed on it. She was staring at the TV screen and her paper back and forth
as she screamed. They all looked at the TV screen and saw the lottery
numbers displayed along with the lottery amount, one hundred and ninety four
million dollars!

"We won," she screamed at the top of her lungs.
"What," they all screamed back at her.
"We fucking won," she screamed again.

Josh took the paper from her hand and looked it over, all the numbers
matched including the purple MegoBall. Sure enough, according to the ticket
they had won one hundred and ninety four million dollars. Josh handed the
paper back to his mom and turned around and looked at Eric and Claudia who
stared back, and who had wrapped their arms around each other in pure
anxiety and anticipation. The site nearly made Josh laugh.

"We won, one hundred and ninety four million dollars, that is unless
someone else has the same numbers, then they get a portion too," Josh said,
then repeating it screaming.

Eric let go of Claudia to wrap his arms around Josh. Claudia's eyes rolled
into the back of her head and she flumped onto the floor. Josh's mom still
hopping up and down in the middle of the room. Josh and Eric kissed,
passionately. This now confirmed it, nothing could take them away from each
other. Suddenly the room was silent, except for the TV set. They both,
suddenly realizing they were in the living room. They broke their kiss and
looked over to see Josh's mom staring at them mouth agape.

"Mother, I have some wonderful news for you," Josh said sheepishly, Eric
smiling as if he had just smashed a trillion dollar vase.

"Just shut up and hug me," she smiled at them both holding out her arms.
Josh and Eric rushed over to her and she wrapped her arms around them.

Liz Hendersen was over joyed, she had broken up with Ted. A man who had
never like the idea of a `ready made family.' A man who had always something
negative to say about someone. She had purchased the lottery ticket when she
arrived back in town earlier that night. She had missed her children and
felt bad that she had considered marrying Ted and that she had spent so many
weekends with him so far away from her children. Now Josh had come to her
and inadvertently told her his most private secret. This she could not be
more over joyed about. Josh had always done and said things that had made
her wonder. But never did she say anything. She wanted Josh to make his own
decisions, without her opinions interfering. She hadn't liked the idea in
the beginning when she had seen some photos in his computer. But she
realized soon that if she truly loved her son, it meant she loved him for
him and nothing else. That was over two years before. Now she was closer and
was in rapture that he had found someone to take care of him. True Eric was
quite a kid, but she knew they were perfect for each other. She had seen the
chemistry between them. Now they were millions richer and she could do
whatever she wanted. But most of all right then she wanted to hug her son,
her son's.

The silence was broken by Claudia who had come to on the floor. She looked
around and saw what was happening. She smiled as she stood up, walked over
and joined in the group hug. Everyone one was with tears. Liz, because her
son had finally come into his own, and because she had just won the lottery.
Eric because he didn't think his life could be come any more complete. Josh
because he knew that now that his mother was on his side on this that
nothing could go wrong. Claudia because now she could get that dress she had
always wanted. This moment was cut short by a banging on the front door.

Josh's mom broke loose and went and looked into the eye hole. Her face went
pale and she looked over at them.

"Who is it," they all asked.
"It's Jordan, my God he's been beaten really bad," she said as she unlocked
the door and opened it.
Josh looked at Eric and Claudia. Eric knew nothing of his dream. Neither
did Claudia.
"He dumped me today, I don't know why, he seemed like he never was in the
relationship all that much," Claudia said as they ran over to the door.

Truly Jordan had been beaten, terribly. His lip was swollen. His eye was
black, his nose trickled a bit of blood. His hair was a mess and his clothes
were torn and ripped. His arms were covered in bruises and he was slightly
hunched over to one side.

"Jordan, my God, what happened to you," Liz exclaimed as she helped him
into their home.
"My, my," he started but started to cry.
"What is it, who did this to you," she asked him.
"My dad, I told him, I told him about, how," he stuttered through bursts of
crying.

Josh and Eric looked at each other, then to Claudia who looked
completely shocked at what she was seeing. Ms. Hendersen looked up at her
son and Eric confused.

"Mom, let us talk to him," Josh said quietly.

Unsure of what she should do she allowed Josh to lead Jordan into the
kitchen. She had never been in a situation like this. Her husband had
divorced her and ran off with his secretary. He had never been abusive or
anything so this was totally alien to her.

"Jordan, little dude, what's happened, why did he beat you up," Eric asked
as he knelt down looking at Jordan's eye as he sat in the chair sobbing.
"Well I, I didn't know who to turn to, I knew you and Josh were, well,
together," Jordan said as he looked up.
"But how, I mean we didn't just," Josh said.
"I could tell, I knew you were more than friends," Jordan replied with a
sob.
"I'm gay, and well I dumped Claudia today, I've been seeing a guy from
school," Jordan started.

"I had been seeing Mike Williams. He and I had gone to elementary together
and we had been really good friends. I dumped Claudia because I realized
that I finally couldn't lie to myself about my feelings. I called up Mike
earlier to tell him I was totally free now, and we could be together. He
told me he was moving in a week, and then he asked why I had dumped Claudia.
I told him how I really really liked him, and he told me that we were just
friends, and that I was dumb to have dumped her. Then he hung up on me,"
Jordan cried.

Josh and Eric looked at each other, unsure of what to say. Just how many
people had `known' about them? Was it that obvious? That didn't matter now.
What mattered is what happened to Jordan.

"So that doesn't explain how you got like this," Josh said sitting down in
a chair next to Jordan.

"I guess my dad heard me talking to him on the phone, I'm not sure. I hung
up and he kicked my door open and started cussing me out. Telling me I was a
no good fucking pansy and he always knew I was fucked up and all. I tried to
tell him what, and why and he hit me. I tried to get up but he kicked me in
the side. I was screaming when my sister ran into the room. She screamed at
him to stop and he slapped her so hard she was knocked out. I jumped up and
punched him in the stomach trying to get him off of her and he threw me
against the wall. I was able to get out of my room. But he caught me by my
shirt and then he grabbed my arms and shook me so hard I thought I was going
to pass out. I tried to get away and he threw me down the stairs into the
basement. I got up and was starting out the back door when I heard
him fall down the stairs. He stunned him self when he hit the bottom. I ran
back and saw my sister at the top of the steps. I think she tripped him, all
I know is she screamed for me to get out and run as fast as I could. I told
her I wasn't going to leave her but she just kept screaming for me to run, I
ran I ran until I got here, I shouldn't have left her," Jordan cried
hysterically.

Josh and Eric sat there with their hands over their mouths. Not knowing
what to do, one thing was for sure. His dad had to be put away, and they had
to get his sister out of that house. By now Liz and Claudia had heard the
whole story in the hallway and came in. Jordan rushed over to Claudia and
hugged her crying.
"I'm so sorry, I hope you're not mad at me, I just, well I," he tried to
explain.
"Hey, don't sweat it, we all have to find ourselves sometime," she said to
him softly.
"I'm calling the police," Liz said as she picked up the phone and dialed
911.

"Why is it things go so well and then the shit hit's the fan," Eric asked
Josh.
"Not sure, but one thing's for sure, we are blessed to have one another,
now it's up to us to help Jordan, he's all alone. We've got a mission now."
