 Blind Leading the Blind         chapter 3


     Shane and Kolby were becoming very close even after only one
day. Kolby said I thought that you were waiting to get your license so you
could drive. Shane said that he was. Kolby said well how can you drive me
to IHOP without a license. Shane laughed and said on my bike.  Kolby said
oh, well lets go I am starving. Shane was pedaling and being very careful
Not to have to stop to fast and possibly have Kolby fall off the handle
bars. They were talking and Shane said I don't want to open any old wounds
but when we get to IHOP can you tell me all about your adopted brother
Lyle. Kolby turned his head slightly and said it would be a pleasure. They
got to IHOP and went in and sat as far away from anyone as possible. Shane
made sure that Kolby was seated ok and then sat down across from him.
Shane said are you really going to eat all that food that you said. Kolby
laughed and said I hope not.  Shane said good I did not know if I would be
able to drive you back on the bike if you did. Kolby said may I ask a
question. Shane said sure go ahead. Why don't you ever sit next to me, it
seems that you are always across from me, I was just wondering. Shane said
well It is much easier for me to look into those beautiful eyes of your
when I am sitting across for you then it is sitting next to you, and
besides I would have a hard time keeping my hands off of you. Kolby smiled
and said thanks that means a lot to me.

       Shane asked what about Lyle. Kolby look to go sad at that. He said
well he was the most courageous person I had every come in contact with. I
can close my eyes and see him smiling at me and that tiny face that was so
full of love. I hope that I will be able to say when I am 60 years old that
I lived half the life that Lyle did in seven years, I really miss him and
the amazing part I only new him for about 24 hours. He made such an impact
on me that I will never forget him. the waitress came over and they ordered
and Kolby asked would it be OK if we talked about something else. Shane
said we can talk about anything you want.  Kolby put his hand on the table
to find his silverware and Shane reached over and took his hand and said.
I want to do something special for you. Kolby said you already have, you
became my friend and I can tell by your voice that you share my sorrow for
Lyle and that means more to me than anything. Shane would not say but he
planned to talk to Kolby's parents get a description of Lyle and have a
portrait done of him, knowing that Kolby would never be able to see it, it
would always be there for him. The waitress brought their food and they
talked while they ate and when they were finished they left a tip and
walked out. Kolby said did you really mean that you would do anything for
me. Shane said I sure did, why what's up. Kolby smiled at Shane and Shane
said Oh I thing I am in trouble. Kolby said no I just want you to do me a
small favor. Shane said OK what is it. Kolby said let me drive you home.
Shane's eyes got real big and he said what did you say. Kolby said I want
to ride you home, it's fair you rode me here. Shane started to say that was
different and stopped and said well the worst thing that could happen is we
will die. Kolby smiled then that means yes. Shane said Ok. Kobly turned and
said if we die, I will introduce you to Lyle so it won't be a total loss,
then laughed. Shane said well we have to do this my way, Kolby agreed,
Shane said I will stand behind you and steer and you can pedal OK Kolby
agreed again, Kolby smiled and said just make sure you keep that monster in
your pants. It was Shane's turn to agree. They got on the bike and started
the ride home. They were laughing almost all the way home. Shane noticed
that Kolby's parents were out front unloading the car and he hollered hello
there how are you and Kolby yelled hi as well.  Kolby said who are we
saying hi to and Shane said your parents Kolby got very serious and said we
have to stop right now. They stopped and Shane help Kolby off the bike and
over to his parents. Kolby said Mom, dad let me please let me
explain. Kolby's mom winked at shane and while Kolby was trying to come up
with something Kolby's mom hugged Shane and whispered in his ear Thank you
very much this is the happiest he has been since he lost Lyle. She said I
will tell you later.  Shane whispered back I know and his eyes started to
well up with tears. She kissed his on the cheek and said thanks
again. Shane said no problem. Shane walked over to Kolby and said now
what. Kolby took a deep breath and said mom, dad this was my fault, Shane
had nothing to do with it. So go ahead and punish me. Kolby's mom said are
you telling me that this boy here and she winked at Shane had nothing to do
with this, are you telling me that you rode that bike home by
yourself. Well young man all I can say is that you are grounded until
Monday, Kolby said but mom, she said don't you but mom me young man you are
grounded till monday and that's that and again winking at Shane she and you
young man you will not be allowed here until monday as well. Kolby said mom
you are not being fair. She said well I can't ground Shane to his house so
I guess I will Have to ground him here with you. Kolby said what are you
talking about I am grounding you both to your room, now do you
understand. Kolby smiled and said mom your the greatest. She said it did my
heart go to see you having fun again. You were not doing so well and the
loss of Lyle nearly pushed you over the edge.  This young man here seems to
have brought you back to life and I do not ever want that to change. Kolby
reached out and his mom took his hand and he pulled her in and gave her a
big hug and a kiss. Kolby's dad said how did you miss that big pot hole in
the street. Kolby reached behind him grabbed Shane's arm and said it was my
guardian angel here. Dad said Kolby I want you to come with me for a
minute. Shane said Mrs... um, She interrupted and said just call me
mom. Shane smiled and said mom Would you do me a favor, Kolby told me about
Lyle and I was wondering if you could draw me a picture because I feel that
after talking to Kolby and his telling all about Lyle I would like to see
what he looked like. She said sure I will work on that tonight and have it
for you tomorrow. Shane said thanks that means a lot to me. Mom then look
at him and said Shane you know that Kolby is gay. Shane said yes that he
had told him. She said good I did not want any secrets between you. Shane
said he knew and then smiled and said mom I'm gay also.  mom smiled and
gave him a big hug. Then said Please take it easy with him he has been
through a lot.  Shane said I know he told me that as well, He looked at her
and said mom you don't have to worry I could never hurt Kolby, you see I
fell in love with him the first time I saw him and that is why I came over
yesterday was to meet him I am going to ask him to be my boyfriend tonight
when we go to bed. Mom said you know that you are grounded to Kolby's
room. Shane smiled and said I have never enjoyed being punished as much as
I will over the next 4 days. Shane said thanks mom you really are the
greatest.  Would it be Ok if I go check on the love on my life. Mom said he
is upstairs with his dad. Shane asked how do you know that. She said that
they had arranged it in advance so that she could talk to me alone.  Shane
smiled and said Oh.

     Shane went upstairs and into Kolby's room and was amazed. What a
room. The walls were painted light blue there were no pictures on the walls
in the corner was a kick ass stereo and up against the wall across from the
Window was a hugh bed. He saw Kolby and his dad and his dad was telling him
all about the stereo.  then he glanced up and said oh Shane is here. Kolby
turned and said come in and checkout my I mean our room. Kolby's dad headed
for the door and stopped and hugged Shane and said "be gentle with him he
is real fragile right now" Shane smiled and said I will "always'. Kolby's
dad left the room and Shane said well it is just you and my now, Grounded
to your bed for the next 4 days.  Kolby said Shane keep talking and as
Shane was talking Kolby walked right up to him and said shut up and kiss
me, please. Shane reached out took Kolby in his arms and kissed lightly on
the lips. They kiss ended and Kolby and Shane just stood there holding each
other, Shane rubbing Kolby's back and each time going just a little lower
until he reached Kolby's butt and started to just rub his butt. Kolby
pushed him away and don't. Shane said I sorry and turned and with no rug on
the floor Kolby heard Shane walking away. Kolby dropped to his knees and
started to cry which made Shane stop and come back. Kolby said please don't
leave me, Shane said I won't ever leave you, Shane asked what did I do
wrong. Kolby said nothing I just have to have some time to get used to
someone that means something to me to be able to touch in a certain way

boys would like to go out for dinner and they both said yes.  Mom said
Shane you need to let your parents know what's going on. Shane said OK and
that he would be right back. he ran across the street and let his mom and
dad know and they said that since he was going to bne there for a few days
that that would give them time to go see Aunt Peggy. We will leave tonight
so make sure you have your key and he said OK and left. He got back to
Kolby's and said everything was set. Kolby said that we better get going or
they would have to wait all night. The next thing was where were they going
to eat. Shane said that they have a really neat drive in ant the other side
of town and they agreed that that was where they would go. they got there
and ordered there food and waited for it and when it got there they ate and
headed home. They got back about 8:30 and the boys said they were going to
bed. Kolby said good night and headed upstairs. Shane hel back and told mom
and dad that they were up until about 4:00 in the morning talking and that
they were really both tired. Mom said you don't have to explain anything to
us. Shane said thanks and headed upstairs. Shane figured that since they
were going to bed that he did not need to turn the light on , There was
enough light comeing from the window. Shane watched Kolby getting undressed
and Kolby said why are you watching me. Shane said how did you know I just
had a feeling, Shane said cool. Shane got undressed and got into bed. He
rolled over and felt Kolby's naked body next to his. Shane touch his side
and Kolby jumped and Shane Said I sorry. Kolby said you have nothingto be
sorry for it should be me saying I'm sorry. Shane asked Kolby to face him
and Kolby rolled over. Shane said please let me see you. Shane said wait a
minute he got out of bed went over and turned on the light and came back
and say on the bed. Kolby was still under the covers and Shane said I am
going to pull back the cover because I want to see what those Bastards di
to you some please relax. Kolby said I can't promisr that I won't jump but
OK go ahead Shane pulled back the covers and looked at Kolby's penis and

rest now my love and we will take this one step at a time. Kolby cuddled up
next to Shane and said I love you you know. Shane said I know and I love
you to. Held held Kolby in his arms and they both fell asleep.
