    Kolby woke at about 3:10 in the morning and still had his head on
Shane's chest but became a little nervous when he felt Shane breathing very
rapidly. He sat up and quietly asked Shane are you awake.  he received no
response. He felt for his forehead and when he placed his hand on it it
felt very warm.  Kolby did not know what to do. His boyfriend seemed to be
suffering some how and he was worried. He felt to see if Shane was covered
thinking that he may just be cold. He was. Kolby very gently moved of the
bed and went to his parents room. he opened the door and quietly called his
mom. She answered almost immediately. Kolby said some thing is wrong with
Shane. His mom got up and they went back to check on Shane together. Mom
turned on the hall light as to not awake Shane. She went in and asked Kolby
what the problem was. Kolby said that he was breathing very rapidly and
seemed to be hot to the touch. Mom checked and indeed Shane was breathing
very rapidly and when she checked his forehead he felt very hot. She turned
to Kolby and said get him dressed and we will take him to the hospital. She
left the room to go get dressed. Kolby grabbed some cloths put them on
hurriedly, then grabbed some cloths and started dressing Shane.  Kolby had
a shirt and pants on Shane when mom came back and said I will carry
him. Kolby said I did not put socks or shoes on him yet. Mom said he won't
need them.


     She carried him down the stairs and Kolby opened the door and then
went out to the car. Kolby felt for the door handle and opened the door for
his mother, she put Shane in the back seat and told Kolby to sit back there
with him. She got in and the headed for the hospital.  Kolby was very upset
but was not crying, He was trying to be strong. They arrived at the
hospital, brought him inside and told the nurse what had happened. They
called a male nurse and he came out and took Shane into the emergency room.
Mom took Kolby by the hand and said lets go sit down this may take a
while. Kolby sat next to mom and was talking to her about everything with
the hope that it would prevent him from breaking down. SHe said Kolby I am
very proud of you, you handled that very well and did not panic. Kolby
looked at his mom and he felt himself getting that tight feeling in his
throat and said thanks but I am about to, and after saying that he put his
head on her lap and broke down. Mom rubbed his back and said that's OK lets
it out.

   They were sitting there for what seemed to be hours. It was starting to
get light out and mom said let me go and check on Shane. Kolby sat up and
waited for her to come back. She started back to the waiting room and was
having a hard time trying to figure out how she could tell Kolby. She
walked into the waiting room and said why don't we go get something to eat
in the cafeteria. Kolby said and leave Shane alone. Mom said you need to
eat and I need some coffee. Kolby said but mom. Mom said Don't you but me
lets go. Kolby sensed something was wrong. He said mom you are not telling
me something. I will tell you when we get to the cafeteria, now lets go
young man. Kolby followed his mothers orders and as he headed toward her
she saw tears running down his face. He stop next to her and said MOM IS HE
GGGGGONE. His mother wrapped her arms around him and said honey lets got to
the cafeteria and I will explain everything. She held him tightly as they
headed for the cafeteria and when they arrived she found a table, told
Kolby to sit and that she would be right back. Kolby sitting there all by
himself was thinking what will I do with out Shane Mom came back and sat
down. She reached for Kolby's hand and for the first time in his life he
jerked it away from her. He took a deep breath and yelled TELL ME WHAT
HAPPENED, NOW! Mom stood up took him in her arms and said you need to sit
and let me explain. Kolby sat down and said Mom I'm sorry I didn't mean
that. he patted his hand and said I know.

    Mom and Kolby sat in the cafeteria and she explained everything to him
and during the entire time Kolby cried his eyes out. When they left the
cafeteria they went back to the waiting room and the nurse came in and
asked will you follow me please. Kolby was shaking so badly he could hardly
stand up. Mom said Honey you need to be strong. Kolby wiped his face dry
Put a smile on his face and said Mom I think I'm ready. The nurse lead them
down this long hallway and opened a very large but ominous door. Kolby
started to falter and mom said honey you can do this. Kolby with a single
tear running down his cheek said I will do it for Shane. The nurse stopped
by another large door and said he is in here.  Kolby asked Mom can I go in
alone.  Mom said are you sure you want to, Kolby aid yes. Kolby opened the
door took a deep breath and walked inside. Mom watched from outside as her
only son disappeared behind the door. Kolby slowly walk up alongside the
bed bed and looked down and a very sweet young man that had stolen his
heart and took him places that he had never been before. There was Shane
the boy that had changed his life in just a matter of several days. Kolby
reached out took his hand and said Please don't leave me. Kolby got down on
one knee and look up and said GOD don't take him now I still need him.
Just then the room filled with a bright light Kolby look up and was
confused. He could see. He quickly looked down at Shane and saw the most
beautiful person laying there. He then look up and saw the most radiant
creature, all he could say was Lyle. Tears were now streaming down his
cheeks, a very soft voice said he is not leave yet you two are going to be
happy for a long time. Kolby recognized the voice as Lyle's .  He said you
turn my life around.  Lyle said you took a very scared boy opened your
heart to him and made him happier than he had ever been is his life, then
after my death you made me your brother. I am so proud. I have to go but I
will be watching over you two, give Shane a kiss for me. With that the
light started to fade and the room went dark again. Kolby smiled and knew
that Shane was going to be fine, Kolby was once again blind, but the chance
to really see Shane and Lyle was worth his blindness. Kolby came out of the
room and Mom said honey are you OK. Kolby smiled at mom and said I am more
than OK I'm great. Mom had a very strange look on her face and asked what
happened, Kolby said I will tell you later.

   Kolby said to mom you know you should feed your son once in a while.
Mom said lets go eat then.  Kolby ate very well and mom was still very
confused as to what was going on with Kolby. Kolby said mom I want to tell
you something that you may have a hard time believing or may not believe at
all but here goes. Hr proceeded to tell mom every thing that happened and
mom sat there with her mouth wide open and shaking her head. She asked what
did Lyle tell you. Kolby continued the story and mom was just
flabbergasted. When Kolby was done with the story mom said honey do you
think you could have been dreaming. Kolby said maybe, why don't you ask me
something about Lyle or Shane and I wii answer it for you. Mom said Ok here
goes. She asked the color of Lyle's hair, Kolby said Light brown, mom said
OK what about his eyes, Kolby said hazel. Mom said OK wait I have it what
color are Shane's eyes, Kolby said they are a beautiful green. Mom was just
at a loss for words.  Kolby said oh by the way Lyle said that Shane and I
are going to have many happy year together. Well mom I want to go see
Shane, do you want to come along. Mom said sure I can do that.

    Kolby walked into Shane's room and went over and sat next to the bed.
He took hold of Shane's hand and just started to talk. He heard that even
when someone was unconscious that they could hear you so he sat and talked
until he almost lost his voice. He was thinking about the problem that mom
said Shane had and decided that he would let God and Lyle take care of
Shane.  Kolby was very confident that everything would be fine. Mom came in
and said that she needed to talk to Kolby outside. They left the room and
sat in the hall and mom started to tell him that the doctor said that if
the pressure did not start is ease up that they would have to do
surgery. Kolby said mom Shane it going to be alright lets them do what they
have to get him better so ha can come home.

It was getting late in the afternoon when mom said lets go home for a
little while and we can come back later. Kolby agreed, and they left the
hospital and headed home.  Little did they know what was waiting for them
when they got home.

   They pulled into the drive and dad came out and said dear you better go
across the street Shane's parents just got home and heard what
happened. You can fill them in. She went across the street and Kolby went
along. She knocked on the door and Shane's mom answered. In a very harsh
tone she said come in.  this was not going to go well and she said let me
take my son home and then we can talk.  Shane's mom said why does he have
something to hide. Could it be that he is gay and has taken advantage of my
sons good nature and forced him to have sex. Kolby's mom said I will try to
explain this in a manner that even someone closed minded as you an
understand.  Your sin was hurt when the boys came over to check the
yesterday morning. With Shane being relative out of it I could not get a
phone number to call you. My son and yours are in deed both gay and if they
did have sex I can assure you that it would have been something that they
both agreed on. Next my husband and I have been taking care of Shane as if
he were our own. He is at St luke's and you can go see him. Mom got up
headed for the door and turned and said you have a wonderful son. The kind
of son that I would be proud of. Shane's mom stood up and said fine then
you care for him. With that Kolby's mom left and slammed the door behind
her.

   Kolby's mom said I am sorry you had to hear that. Kolby said i am glad I
did. Mom can we take Shane in and let him live here with us. Mom said Honey
it's not that easy.

    When thay got home Kolby went upstairs and mom went in to talk to
dad. She set down and said honey I think we are going to have a problem
with her. She is blaming Kolby and said that he forced Shane to have sex
and was the cause of all of this. Dad said don't worry we will take it one
step at a time.

    Shane's mom and dad went to the hospital and saw their son and talked
to the doctor and got the information from Him. They had decided that
tomorrow that they would solve this problem once and all.
