Mom came home around 6:15 and started cooking dinner. Matt and I
helped out as much as we could. Our kitchen is pretty small, so we were
more in the way than anything else. But, as she said, it's the thought that
counts.
	"Drew..."
	"Yes Mom?"
"I forgot to tell you that your father and I are going out of town
this weekend."
	"Where?"
	"New Hampshire."
	"What for?"
"A couple of weeks ago, your father got a call from a woman who
claims to be his great aunt. Apparently, she and her husband moved to
California years ago and she lost contact with the family. Your grandmother
says that such a woman did exist and she's met her once back in the
50's. Then she moved to New Hampshire to live with her daughter. So, we
decided to take a few days and go see her."
	"How old is she?"
	"In her nineties."
	"When will you be back?"
"We're leaving Friday morning and we'll be back Monday night."
	"Is Mel staying here?"
"No. Her friend Martha's family invited her to go to the mountains
with them this weekend, so you two love birds will be all by yourselves for
a whole weekend."
	"Wow."
"Just don't wreck the place." She said, cutting me a sideways
glance.
"Mel got invited to the mountains?" Matt sounded surprised. He
didn't realize what the little socialite my sister is.
"Nanny and Pop will feed you lunches. If you let her know, you can
eat supper too. Otherwise she'll assume you're out gallivanting or
something."
"Fair enough," I said; still excited at the prospect of a weekend
alone with Matt.
I heard a car drive up outside. It was none other than Nanny and
Pop.
"They're coming to dinner." My mother commented as if I wasn't
smart enough to figure that one out by myself. "I haven't seen them since
we got back from the beach, so I decided to invite them over. Besides, Matt
needs to get to know them better."
They came in. We finished getting dinner ready.
Nanny started stirring a random pot.
She asked, "Andy, did you ever talk to your grandmother?"
	"Yes ma'am."
"Good. When we got back from the beach, she was all distressed. She
came over to our house fussing about how she should have kept her mouth
shut and about how you must hate her and yada-yada."
"We talked about it the other day."
"Good. I told you that you'd both be better off when you cooled off
a bit."
"Thank for fixing lunch for Matt and me this weekend."
"Not a problem, we haven't seen much of you the last couple of
months."
After a few minutes, I wandered into the den where Pop and Dad were
watching football. I've never cared a thing about football- most sports
involving a ball are so boring I'd rather ram an icepick in my ear than sit
there for four hours. The ironic thing was that neither of them like
football either. They never watched football unless they were together and
they only did then because they each thought the other liked to watch it
and they both wanted to be sociable. So, I plopped down on the couch.
"So, how are you and Matt doing?"
	"Fine I guess."
"That's good. I was thinking this summer sometime, we'd try going
to the beach again. Hopefully that trip would turn out better."
"You know what I want to do?"
	"What's that?"
	"I want to go fishing."
"Fishing?" Pop asked. He clearly hadn't expected that.
"I don't know why...but I wanted to go fishing. I know it sounds
dumb...but I just remembered when I was a kid. You and me, Nanny, Uncle
Guy, Aunt Josie, Uncle Ralph, and Aunt Harriet, out on the pontoon fishing
in the dark. The lantern over the side, with the bugs around it, and the
shad in the water under it."
"Aren't you a little young for nostalgia?"
"Nostalgia? We just went back in October. But, I guess things have
been so rough that I just want to go back to the way things used to be. I'm
tired of everything being so up in the air all the time."
"I can definitely understand that." He pulled a cell phone from his
pocket and started punching buttons.
"Ralph? Yeah...this is Scott. How are you? I'm fine. Say, I've got
a question. What are you doing tonight? Uh-huh...nothing? Well what'd you
say we go fishing? Yeah...fishing. Go get some bait and we'll meet you at
your lake house around 8. Yes, I know that rhymed. Call Guy and Josie tell
them what we're doing. Okay. See you then."
When we would go fishing, we went to my great uncle's house on Lake
Lanier, just northwest of Atlanta near Gainesville in the teeming
metropolis of Flowery Branch. He had a boathouse and two boats, a pontoon
and a bass boat.
	"What about Matt?" I asked.
"The only person in this world worse at secret keeping than me is
my lovely wife. So, they already know about Matt and are eager to meet
him. Well, I don't know about eager- curious maybe. They've never met a gay
person before. Well, that they knew about."
	"What did Nanny tell them?"
"I have no idea. Probably that he was a green alien with three
heads and tentacles. How should I know?"
	"He doesn't."
"No, he only has two heads."
It took me a second to catch the reference. I smiled. So did he. He
was never one to pass up a double entendre. He and I got up and let the
others know the plan. Nanny of course was up for a night out on the water.
Later, as we were getting ready to go, I overheard Matt talking to
Mom.
	"Are you coming?" He asked.
	"No."
	"Why not?"
"We have to get up and go to work in the morning. When you go out
fishing with that crowd, you're liable to see the sunrise. If not, you
won't be back here until four or five o'clock tomorrow morning. When they
get out on that water and get to laughing and talking, there's no telling
when they'll decide to come in. Whatever happens, though, I seriously doubt
you'll get bored."
	"I've never been fishing."
"It's not hard. All you do is put the minnow on the hook then lower
it down in the water and wait."
	"Sounds boring."
"That part is, but the rest isn't so bad."
Well, to make a long story short, we went and had fun. They were as
crazy as ever and we got back home around 5:30, just as the first golden
rays of sunlight started peeking over the horizon. I have no idea the last
time I saw a sunrise. After Nanny and Pop left, we sat under the carport
and watched as the light grew. When it got a little brighter, we got towels
went out in the front yard and sat on the dew covered grass and watched the
whole sky light up with the most brilliant pink trimmed with purple as the
duskiness of night gave way to impending daylight. We eventually went to
bed because Matt had to go to work at 4:00 sharp. We were both too tired to
fool around, so we went to our separate bedrooms and fell immediately to
sleep.
I woke up. Something weird was going on. The bed was moving. I
opened my eyes. Why was the bed moving? Was I dreaming? I looked
around. Oh, the bed was moving because I was no longer alone. I had
company. Matt was moving slightly. He was getting restless. It was 12:30,
so I guess he was getting hungry. He was laying flat on his stomach with
his head turned away from me. I was feeling brazen, so I slid my hand
slowly down over his body. I gently grasped the band of his boxers and
lifted him up. I held my hand millimeters from his skin. I could feel the
heat radiating off his ass. I put my hand up against his butt. He swung his
hand the in the general direction of his backside to swat me away. He was
out cold and had no idea what was going on. That turned me on, so I got up
on my elbows and moved my head over his. I looked down at his closed
eyes. He looked so peaceful that I didn't want to wake him but I was
feeling devious enough that I couldn't resist the urge to. The question was
how. I slapped him straight across the side of his face. He instinctively,
rolled over, reached up and grabbed my throat, wrapped his legs around mine
and threw me off the side of the bed. I hit my head on the table as I
crashed to the floor in a heap. I guess I deserved that.
"What the fuck?" he said. I hadn't hit him hard enough to hurt, so
I don't think he realized what actually had happened. He sat up. "What
happened?"
"Nothing," I replied, rubbing the back of my head. That was going
to leave a mark. "You were just dreaming."
"But I threw you off the side of the bed."
	"That's okay."
"I'm so sorry!" He said. I couldn't help but grin because I knew
the reality and I wasn't about to confess to slapping him. "I was having a
dream. I was pushing Brad off the top of Toccoa Falls."
	"Why'd you do that?"
"Because he tried to kill you by shoving a screw driver in your
ear."
	"Ouch."
He just sat on the edge of the bed with a dazed expression, his
hair completely ruffled and sticking in every conceivable direction. He
rubbed his face and flopped backwards across the bed, his feet dangling off
the side. What a tantalizing position, the bulge of a flaccid cock outlined
in the fabric. I sat on the floor, contemplating how best to seduce
Sleeping Beauty, when I decided to take a different approach. Clearly
smacking him had been a bad idea and I was feeling a tinge guilty. So, when
I was sure he had fallen back asleep, I slipped downstairs. I took out the
bisquick and waffle iron and I made waffles. Whether nor not they
classified as Belgian is doubtful. Anyway, I put them, with some strawberry
preserves, and RediWhip, on a tray with some orange juice and a couple
slices of microwaved bacon and slowly made my way back upstairs. Sleeping
Beauty was getting breakfast in bed. My mother had found the white roses
Matt had left on our porch earlier in the week and decided that they needed
to live, so she put them in water and put them on the dining room
table. They were still relatively alive, so I slipped one out and put it on
the tray.
I slipped back in the room and put the tray on my desk. Now for the
waking. He was still laying across the bed, with his feet hanging off the
edge. I crawled slowly onto the bed. I bent over and was going to kiss
him. He opened his eyes and smiled. He stretched out languidly across the
bed.
	"I've got something for you."
	He just kept smiling. "What?"
I got up and walked over to the desk as he sat up on the bed. He
slid himself up against the head of the bed and looked over at me. He
realized what I was doing. I picked up the tray and brought it over to him,
setting it across his lap.
"I can't believe you did this."
	I just watched him.
"Did you make any for yourself?"
I hadn't thought of that. Oops.
"Here, this is too much, you can have some." He cut the stack of
waffles in half and slid one half to each side. I got onto the bed at his
feet and started eating with the spoon while he ate with the fork. He
looked at me and smiled. I wanted to leap across the tray and kiss him
forever. He just kept grinning while munching on a piece of bacon. After we
finished eating, we just laid next to each other on the bed, dreading the
moment we would have to get up.
