Colin's 'perfect' Life

Chapter 7

We almost reached the car before I remembered I forgot my keys inside. It
was probably a comic sight me carrying him around and he gathering stuff we
needed. I not only forgot my keys, but my wallet too and so did he.

Eventually we gathered everything we needed and were in the car ready to
go.

Reaching Skull wasn't all that difficult although I don't see anyone
getting there by accident because it's not very visible from the street. I
almost missed it myself despite having Alex by my side telling me where to
go.

We parked in front of this old building and I heard loud music coming from
somewhere but couldn't locate where exactly from. Alex insisted on walking
with his crutches because, he said, it would be too embarrassing for him if
I'd carried him in. Slowly Alex headed to the side of the building where a
narrow walkway was located. I haven't noticed it before and that was
probably due to it being partially hidden from the street. Nearing the
walkway I saw an old building at the end of it. It looked to be an old
warehouse of some kind with rusted bars on the windows a big ass, red,
partially opened door. That's where the music was coming from and coming
closer it was clear that it was some kind of real hardcore metal which is
really not my cup of tea. Stepping inside I was nervous as fuck as I
pictured it to be a dump filled with ugly ass drunk dudes. But surprisingly
that's not what I found. The light inside was dim so my eyes needed time to
adjust to the darkness. Alex stopped for a second probably waiting for his
eyes to adjust too.

'Hey squirt! Didn't see you in a while. What did you do to your leg? ' A
short brunette probably somewhere in her late twenties stepped over to
Alex. After a second look I reasoned she must be the waitress since she was
holding a tray.

'Hey Vic! Oh, I tripped and fell, nothing serious.'

'Oh poor kid, and who's the hotty?' She asked looking at me.

'Oh, this is Colin, he's a friend of mine.' Alex said blushing a bit.

I blushed and said 'Nice to meet you.'

'Friend huh?' she said to Alex with a raised eyebrow and he turned several
more shades of red. Then she turned her attention to me and said 'The
pleasure is all mine.' with a smile.

Probably wanting to get away Alex said 'Well someone is waiting for their
drink for a bit too long so we'll get going and oh, yeah could you bring me
a beer, I'm thirsty as fuck.'

'Sure thing squirt, and you?'

'I'm driving so just a coke please.'

'Sure thing I'll bring it over in a bit.' she said with a smile and left.

By now my eyes were well adjusted and I was able to see the interior. It
looked a bit creepy and intimidating, yet charming and cozy. It looked like
it was built as a hallway. Walking trough there were couches and love seats
everywhere with people casually lounging and sipping on their mostly beers
or coffee. Then Alex led me trough massive wooden two wing doors to the
second room. There was another bar in there and there weren't any couches
in here, just chairs and stools. Here I was introduced to a few more
people. They seemed nice but I don't remember their names. Opposed to the
first room where the lights were dim and lingered red with the windows and
blinds shut tight here in the second room there was way more natural light
coming from an opened door on the side and two open windows with just
drapes over them. The other end of the room was just as dark as the first
room and there appeared to be another door there but they were shut. I
remember being a bit creped out as well as curious about what was there.

I was a bit disappointed when Alex led me through the door on the side that
led to a terrace. It was an ordinary but still a cool looking terrace. It
wasn't very big nor small. On the side there were a couple of high tables
with stools and there were another four of five of normal tables. As the
terrace was on the side it wasn't visible from the street as the building
was surrounded by trees and that created a natural shade here on the
terrace.

'Alex! Here!' Yelled a voice I didn't recognize.

Alex's face immediately turned into a smile as he figured out who was
calling him. 'Hey Lex!'

The guy, obviously named Lex, immediately got up and made room at the table
for Alex to sit.

As Alex sat and said hi to everyone I just stood there uncertainly. Finally
after the questions about his leg stopped Alex noticed me just standing
there. 'Oh, geezz sorry. Guys, gals this is my new...er... friend Colin.'

I was introduced to a small bunch of people that day. The only ones I knew
were obviously Alex, David and Sasha but everyone was extremely nice and
tried to make me feel comfortable. They never acted superior to me or
talked down on me for not knowing much about their fields of interest,
which mostly for them was music. Music was never such an important part of
my life. Sure I had an mp3, I listened to music, I went out and danced to
it in clubs, but it was never something I couldn't live without which is
totally opposite from the vibe I was getting from these guys. To me music
is purely a beat to which you can relax, forget about everything, dance and
have a good time, but to them it's like they live their every emotion
trough music.

I met this one chick, I think her name is Linda or something like that, she
is one crazy bitch! She's a senior, but not in my school. She has a double
side cut with the rest of her orange hair in a pony tail. She and I hit it
off right of the bat. She and I both love reading, especially fantasy and
fiction novels. She even read a couple of not so well known novels I
absolutely adored and apparently she did too.

I also met this guy I didn't really like. I don't exactly know why but it's
like he felt threatened by me or something. His name is Robby or something
like that I don't really know. He is ultra skinny and pretty
effeminate. His hair black with neon blue highlights. My guess is that he
is gay and has a crush on Alex but I don't really know.

Throughout the day Alex and I kept stealing little glances and smiles at
one another being caught on more than one occasion and then blushing
profusely.

All considered the day went pretty well. I met a bunch of interesting
people I think I could become friends with.

After spending the entire day at the Skull at around 10 pm we headed
home. Sasha and David each in their own cars and Alex with me in mine.

The ride to Alex's was relatively quiet until he broke the
silence. 'Soo...How did you like Skull?' He seemed a bit nervous about what
my answer would be.

'Actually I liked it there.' I said with a smile and saw Alex's face
immediately light up. 'Really? I knew you'd love it!' He said excitedly.

I laughed a bit 'Yeah, I really do like it there. Everyone is so chill and
open. I think I could go back there.' with every word that came out of my
mouth Alex's face lit up even more...if that was possible.

And with that I pulled into his driveway and I got out of the car to help
him get to the house. 'Are you going to spend the night?' he asked a bit
pleadingly as I helped him walk.

'Well do you want me to?' I asked.

'Well,...um yeah.' he said with his cheeks turning a bit red.

'Well if it's not a problem with Sasha and David I see no problem in
staying.' I said with a big grin plastered on my face. I love this boy and
getting to spend another night with him in my arms was something I most
certainly did not want to pass up on.

After getting him inside I sat him on the couch and went out to lock my car
and to get my cell. Walking back inside Alex was just saying bye to someone
and hanging up. 'Looks like we are all alone for at least another couple of
hours.'

'How's that?' I asked curious and pleased by what I was hearing.

'Well that was Sash, she said some friends of theirs called them and
apparently they are going out.' he said with the cutest little smile on
his face.

'Nice. Soo what are we gonna do?' I said with a crooked grin.

'Weeell for starters why don't we get a pizza or something? I'm starving!'

'Oh, yes that sounds great!'

We ordered some pizza and then settled on the couch to watch some movie
Alex wanted to see before cuddling up on his bed and falling asleep with
him in my arms. I know, I know nothing exciting but it was a picture of a
perfect night for me, with a perfect ending.

Hey guys I'm really, REALLY sorry for the delay, I hope you are not too
angry at me. It's just that I was overwhelmed with my work and my finals
(Med school, tough shit.) that I didn't have much time, energy or
inspiration to write. And I'm also sorry this chapter is so short but it
was ether this or wait for another week or two for it to be longer.

Once again I'm sorry for the delay I hope the next installment won't take
half as long to write.
