CP

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sun was beginning to wane on that crisp winter afternoon, but CP's mood
was like the first day of spring. He lay naked on his bed with a smile on
his handsome young face. He had just shared a sexual experience with
another guy for the first time in his life and it was wonderful! All of
the stories and songs about romance suddenly made sense to him in a very
personal way.

Marquis came in from the bathroom with a warm washcloth to bathe his
genitals. Marquis was the most thoughtful boy he'd ever met. CP prayed
that this wouldn't turn out to be a one-time event, but even if things
didn't work out, it had been worth it. He felt genuinely attractive for
the first time in his life. Marquis seemed to care about him despite
everything.

"We should probably get dressed. Your dad will be home pretty soon and we
don't want to get caught with our pants down, literally," Marquis teased.

"I-I do-o-n't c-care."

"You may not, but he might have a cow and call my father! Then where would
I be? Let me dry off this beautiful thing and I'll help you get your
clothes on. After all, I'm the one who practically tore them off of you."

----------

The birth of Charles Percival Smith, Jr. 18 1/2 years ago had been awaited
with high anticipation. His parents had seen the conception as a miracle,
having been told they could never have a child in the natural way.

But the miracle turned into a nightmare for his mother when he was
diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth. It had been a particularly
difficult pregnancy that required her to stay in bed for the last six
weeks. After all the precautions and treatments, she found herself
"saddled" with an imperfect baby. She could not cope. Suffering from
post-partum depression, she simply disappeared one day after leaving the
baby at his grandmother's house.

Charles, Sr. had no idea how he would raise a special needs son and also be
the breadwinner. His job as a salesman for Cargill kept him on the road a
lot.

Fortunately, his recently widowed mother, Mary, insisted that father and
son move into her big, lonely house. Mary gained a new purpose in life as
she took over the role of caregiver. She did her best for Charles, Jr.,
applying for aid in order to buy things that would make his life easier.
Over the years, one of the important pieces of equipment was a motorized
wheelchair that he learned to operate when he was only five years of age.

While he could walk, and was encouraged to do it, his movements were slow
and jerky. If he had to go any distance, it took a lot of time and energy.
The machine helped him cope with his disability.

In the elementary school years, CP, as the family called him, had to be in
a special education room for a good part of his day. He hated that because
most of his classmates in there were mentally challenged. He didn't look
down on them or resent them; however, he felt short-changed because he was
quite bright. He absorbed everything he heard, but had difficulty
communicating because his speech, like his walking, was halting and
deliberate.

Eventually, Mary arranged for what would become the most important coping
instrument. It was a specially made computer with which he could better
communicate. Once he had mastered that, his schedule was basically
reversed. From then on, he spent most of his day integrated into a regular
classroom with children who were his intellectual peers. He still needed
some help from an aide with his lunch and bathroom functions, but he was
gaining more control in both areas too.

Being with "normal" kids had both a positive and a negative effect. He
liked the mental stimulation, but he didn't like the isolation he felt.
Teachers and aides were proactive in trying to help other kids become
sensitive toward those who were different. However, he was quite aware
that some children mocked him when they could get away with it. They would
imitate his attempts at speaking and they would prance around in a jerky
manner, even though they had rarely seen him walk at that point in time.

Perhaps the worst feeling of all was that of being ignored. A number of
kids looked "through" him as if he didn't exist.

A few girls tried to be his friend at times. Some would "mother" him as if
he were a doll or a pet. Those situations usually made him feel that he
was being patronized, although he didn't learn that term until much later.

Occasionally, he felt like his father had deserted him too, but he came to
realize that his dad was doing the best he could to provide a good living
for them. The older he grew, the more he appreciated it.

----------

"How was your day, Son?"

"L-like u-usual," CP grinned.

"Marquis seemed distracted when he left. Did you two have an argument?"

"N-not ar-r-gument. I-I c-came ou-out t-to him."

"Came out, as in gay?"

"Yu-yup."

"And by telling me this, you're coming out to me too."

"Yu-yup."

"You care for him a lot, don't you?"

"Yu-yup. L-love h-him!"

"And he can't return your love?"

"L-loves m-me t-too!" CP beamed.

"Then what's the problem?"

"H-he th-thought y-you'd h-have a-a c-cow!"

"I'm not upset. I've had a feeling for a long time that you were fond of
boys instead of girls. I'm happy for you. But, you have to be careful. I
don't want you to get your hopes up and have your heart broken."

"B-better l-love a-an-d l-lose th-than n-never l-love."

"I'm familiar with the adage, but I know how much it can hurt to lose the
one you love. However, I can't protect you from life. You're of age and
you're quite right to go for it. I truly hope you've found a soul-mate."

"H-h-hug?"

"Of course," Charles said as he bent down to embrace his smiling son.

"S-s-so a-a-afraid!"

"You or Marquis?"

"B-b-both-th!"

"You needn't fear anything from me. Is he out to his parents?"

"N-no! F-father re-red-n-neck."

Charles giggled, and CP frowned.

"I'm not trying to make light of the problem," Charles laughed. "I'm
picturing a black man with a red neck."

"F-f-funny!" CP agreed.

----------

Middle school had been an especially trying period for CP. Puberty had hit
him hard. He couldn't understand the desires he was feeling as his body
changed. He had long since realized he liked boys, but he was never in a
situation to even see what another real boy looked like naked. He spent a
lot of nights awake for hours with his hands in his underwear because that
brought him a modicum of comfort.

One night as he massaged himself, he suddenly felt like he was going to pee
in his pants. He struggled to get to the bathroom in time, but nothing
happened. As he sat on the toilet waiting, he began to play with himself
again. He figured he was safe where he wouldn't get his clothes or bed
wet.

This time, the sensation became unspeakably wonderful, but it frightened
him when he shuddered all over and produced a small amount of sticky
substance. He prayed that God would heal him if he had come down with a
sexually transmitted disease from rubbing his dick. He was too naïve to
realize it couldn't happen if he'd never had sexual contact with anyone.

For the next month, he abstained. Then, in his sleep, he had a very wild
dream about one of the cute boys in his class. He woke up with a start and
a damp spot in his sleep shorts. Again, he nearly panicked. He quickly
hid the sticky garment under his bed and put on clean ones.

-----------

The weekend after that incident, Charles took CP into the den after lunch
and closed the door. When they were seated, he turned on his laptop to a
site which explained about nocturnal emissions in fairly simple terms,
using slang along with correct English.

CP blushed profusely, knowing that his grandmother must have found the
soiled shorts and told his father. Embarrassed though he was, he didn't
stop reading the article until he got to the end. He appreciated what his
father was trying to do for him, but he couldn't look him in the eye.

"Son, I apologize for springing this on you and for putting this discussion
off too long. You are developing into a man, and that's nothing to be
ashamed of. Your body is beginning to produce sperm which is necessary to
fertilize the eggs that girls produce. If you play with your penis and
ejaculate the sperm, you won't be as likely to have those wet dreams.
Either way, it's nature's way of expelling the excess. I want you to be
proud of your body and not ashamed!"

CP began to cry, and his father quickly embraced him.

"It's okay. Everything will be fine."

"N-n-o o-one w-w-want-ts a sp-sp-as-stic!"

"I hate that term, and I wish you wouldn't use it! It's like calling a
black kid, nigger! It's offensive! Anyway, please don't give up on love
so young! Someone may come along when you least expect it and you'll get
to share the pleasure your body can give."

----------

Ironically, it had been the use of the "N" word by a bully named Curt on
the first day of CP's senior year in school which would change his life
forever. The offensive epithet was hurled at a black kid who was new to
the school, and CP intervened despite his normally shy and passive
personality.

He was so angry that he hardly repeated a syllable once as he dressed the
bigger kid down in no uncertain terms.

When the confrontation was over, the bully walked away calling CP a spastic
as he left.

"Thanks for defending me, Dude!" Marquis exclaimed. "I don't seem to be
welcome in this honky school."

"H-honky sch-school?"

"Yeah, it's a derogatory word for white people, like I coulda said
`cracka,' but that would be lowering myself to his level."

"O-oh," CP grinned, getting the point. "N-never h-heard e-either."

"You're kinda sheltered is this small, white town, I guess. Saying
`cracka' is like saying `nigga' only against the opposite race.

"W-we're- b-both s-same r-race – h-human!"

"I like your attitude! My name is Marquis, Marquis Coltrane. We moved
here from Chicago just before school started."

"I-I'm-m CP S-Smith, –sp-spastic."

"I'm please to meet you CP," Marquis said, bumping fists, "but I don't like
to hear you use that word either! It must be as hurtful as the `N' word is
for me."

"S-sorry. D-dad ha-hates i-it t-too."

"It sounds like you have a loving father."

"H-he i-is gr-greatest!"

"You don't know how lucky you are. Uh, could you point me toward room 128?
The numbering system here seems to be illogical at best."

"N-new s-science w-wing m-messed i-it u-up: f-follow m-me!"

----------

During the abbreviated first day of the fall term, the two new
acquaintances discovered that they had most of their classes together.
Fortunately, only one teacher insisted on strict alphabetical seating, so
they got to sit side by side most of the time.

When school let out at noon, Marquis invited CP to go to McDonald's with
him for a fast-food meal. CP was thrilled! In the past three years of
high school, no one had ever asked him to do that.

"H-h-have t-to t-tell b-bus d-driver," CP said as they headed out to where
the big yellow-orange buses were spewing diesel fumes into the humid
late-summer air.

Soon, they were on the road in Marquis' little car.

"N-nice!" CP complimented as he patted the dashboard.

"It's nothing special, but my grandmother said she was getting too old to
face Chicago traffic, so she gave it to me. It's in my name and
everything, so my father can't take it away from me."

"O-o-oh," CP responded, not knowing what else to say.

He sensed, from a few remarks that Marquis made during the day, that things
between the boy and his father were not exactly harmonious. CP decided he
would have to keep his ears open and see if he could help. He couldn't
imagine not having a father who was caring and supportive.

----------

It had been almost exactly three years ago that his father and he had
started to become very close indeed. During the summer before his
sophomore year, he'd come to realize that Grandma's mind was slipping a few
cogs. At first it was little things, like misplacing the car keys in the
fridge when she put the milk away after grocery shopping. It got worse at
an alarming rate.

One day when she had taken him to the pool to work with his physical
therapist, she went on home and forgot to pick him up. He was the last
appointment of the day, so the therapist drove him home; going in with him
to make sure all was well.

There sat Grandma in her nightgown, eating uncooked oatmeal from a cooking
pot. The young lady called CP's father, and stayed with the lad for the
next hour until his dad could make the 50 mile trip home.

Charles had taken emergency leave while finding a place to care for
Grandma. It had been very stressful.

At the end of his leave, he applied for a desk job so he could be home with
CP every night. That was a sacrifice, because he was a very good sales
rep, and he didn't like being confined to a cubical. Although Charles
never mentioned it, CP knew what his father had done for him, and he
appreciated it.

While he didn't like the circumstances that made it necessary, CP loved
having Dad at home. They bonded a lot, discussing things he could never
talk to Grandma about, and going to football games and other sporting
events, almost like brothers.

----------

Over their burgers and fries, CP and Marquis learned a lot more about each
other. Both liked football, but neither could play it. Marquis wasn't big
enough to be a contender in American football, and had never had a chance
to play soccer because his father considered it to be a "sissy" sport.

CP suggested that they might watch the football team practice. He'd never
had a lot of chances because his dad couldn't get off early enough and it
was a long way from their house to the field. Taking his adult sized
motorized wheelchair, which he rarely used anymore, was impractical given
the condition of the sidewalks between the two places.

So it was that CP and Marquis became constant companions. CP took the bus
to school, but rarely rode it home at the end of the day. If the weather
wasn't good enough to watch the team, they might work in the library for a
while, or go to CP's house to play video games.

CP may have had muscle control problems with walking and talking, but he
was a killer with a joystick. Marquis teased that CP's agility with it
came from playing with his dick a lot, and CP laughed heartily. He'd never
joked around like that before with anyone. The repartee made him feel like
a regular guy.

The two became so close that they teasingly hurled racial slurs at each
other as well sexual innuendos. Neither of them was ever offended.

----------

Charles had to go out to dinner with a very important client on the Friday
when the high school team had their opener against a cross-town rival. He
apologized to CP, saying that he couldn't reschedule. But, CP said it was
okay because he could hitch a ride with Marquis.

His dad was pleased to know that his son had a buddy to hang with, but also
a little saddened not to be there with him. Ah, he must allow the boy to
grow up and become more independent.

As the homecoming game approached, Charles became aware that CP would
rather attend with his new friend than with his father. He didn't wait for
CP to bring up the subject, but made up an excuse about not feeling
comfortable sitting in the chilly stands to watch the game.

"I think I have a touch of arthritis. Do you suppose you could go with
Marquis? If that would be a hardship, I can put on thermal underwear and
bring a lap robe."

"W-we c-can d-do th-that. I-I d-don-t w-want y-you s-sick."

"You certainly don't need an old guy to put a damper on your fun either.
However, you might want the lap robe to keep you warm."

----------

The two teens got dressed in sensible clothing for the chilly evening and
took along the blanket for added warmth. They received some strange looks
for being wrapped up together, but they stayed warm while others were
shivering. So many boys that age would rather die of exposure than to do
something that might invite teasing from their peers.

It was the last 10 minutes of the game, and it looked like their team would
lose for sure. Many of the fair-weather fans began to leave. CP and
Marquis were bound to stay till the bitter end, regardless.

Since the area around them was pretty well deserted, CP took a chance to do
what he had wanted to ever since they first met. It felt like the right
thing, but if Marquis became angry and left him, he could always call his
dad to pick him up. It was now or never. Under the blanket, their hands
were nearly touching as it was. CP reached over and took Marquis' hand in
his. Marquis smiled and squeezed CP's hand without taking his eyes off the
field.

"Thanks! I've been too chicken to make the first move because I was afraid
I might lose you," he whispered.

"N-never l-lose m-me un-unless y-you w-want m-me g-gone!"

The mood was only slightly broken when Curt, the kid who had been rude to
Marquis on the first day of classes, walked past the pair on his way out.

"Nigger-lover!" he shouted at CP.

Unfortunately from Curt's viewpoint, an associate principal overheard him
and told him he was banned from the dance and must be in the office before
school on Monday to face disciplinary action for his use of a racial slur.
Sassing him back wasn't the boy's wisest decision, but then bullies aren't
known for making good choices.

After the boy and the administrator left, CP turned to Marquis with an
impish grin.

"H-he w-was r-right. I-I l-love m-my n-nigga!"

"And I love my cracka," Marquis responded with a similar smile.

Their faces were only inches apart as they turned toward each other with
deep emotion in their eyes. Oblivious to the light drizzle which began to
fall, they shared their first gentle kiss.

Things might have escalated, but a cheer from the few remaining fans in
front of them brought them back to reality just in time to see their team
make the touchdown that tied the game in the last few seconds. They rose
to their feet to add to the noise.

The place-kicker's aim was perfect! Washington High had won their
homecoming game.

------------

Parked in CP's driveway, they kissed more passionately. When they came up
for air, CP asked Marquis to stay over.

"I desperately want to, but I can't chance it," Marquis said as he guided
CP's hand to his crotch. "My father's already suspicious of what we might
be doing together. He had a fit when I admitted that you and I were going
stag to the dance. He thinks there must be some acceptable `girl of color'
who would be happy to date me."

"I-I'd b-be j-jealous!"

Don't worry; I'm not gonna date some girl to make my father happy, but I do
have to be careful. I have my car and Grandma has a college fund she's put
money in for me, but it won't cover everything."

"I-I u-under-st-stand, m-much a-as I-I w-want y-you!" CP agreed, moving
Marquis' hand to his bulge to prove how strong his desire was.

----------

They didn't have much fun at the dance. CP didn't want to embarrass
himself by trying to participate, and Marquis didn't want to leave him on
his own. Besides, he wasn't sure any girl would agree to be his partner.

Curt, who had caused the scene at the game, was conspicuous by his absence.
Evidently the powers that be had carried through on the threat.

Marquis took CP home early, and the two made out in the driveway until the
lights from Charles' car startled them as he pulled past them into the
garage.

"I thought you'd be out later. Would you like to come in, Marquis?"
Charles invited.

"Thank you sir, but I'd better get home. My father doesn't like me out too
late. You'd think we still lived in the city."

"I can understand why he might be protective."

"It's really that he likes controlling people," Marquis said with a trace
of bitterness.

"Well, I'll go in and let you two say goodnight."

----------

Sunday had passed very slowly, as did school on Monday. CP learned that
Curt had been given an in-school suspension and was having to take
something called sensitivity training. He doubted very much that the bully
would be cured of his attitude, but at least someone was trying.

On the way to CP's home at 3:00, both boys were flushed with excitement.
CP had changed the sheets on his bed so it would be fresh for what he hoped
would happen.

Once up in his bedroom, the boys became suddenly nervous and shy. They
were about to share something that neither had done before. It began with
a gentle kiss and their declaration of mutual love. After they got past
their initial bout of cold feet, they couldn't wait to get naked.

For the first time in his life, CP was not only treated to a firsthand look
at another male's equipment, but was actually holding the hard, throbbing
piece of meat in his hand. It wasn't a monster like on the black guys he'd
seen on the `net, but probably about six and a half inches. It was a
beautiful burnished ebony and uncut. CP was fascinated by the long
foreskin that didn't retract completely, even when fully erect. His own
skin pulled back to reveal most of his pink head when he was hard. His
first reaction was to kiss the tip of Marquis' gorgeous cock and taste the
pearls of precum oozing from it.

Since CP had made that bold move, Marquis didn't hesitate to follow suit.
He'd always dreamed about having another boy's tool in his mouth. It
didn't take them long to settle into the 69 position and gently stimulate
each other to climax.

Kissing deeply, their slippery tongues danced intimately in the afterglow.
However, their erections didn't go away.

"Wanna go for seconds?"

"Y-yup!"

Their second time took longer, which made them both quite happy. After
that climax, they went soft. Marquis volunteered to get a washcloth for
cleanup.

----------

Thanksgiving passed without the boys being able to get together on
Thursday. They did meet at the mall on Friday where Charles dropped CP
off, supposedly to shop for Christmas. By now, he knew about the boys'
relationship and was pleased that they had an excuse to spend time
together.

Christmas brought a more extended time apart since Marquis had to go to
Chicago for the holiday. The only bright spot was that Marquis got to
spend some quality time alone with his grandmother.

"I'm pleased that you have a good friend," she told him. "I remember how
concerned you were about not fitting in."

"He's awesome, Grandma. We can even kid about our racial differences
without being offended. He's the best friend I've even known!"

"Are you in love with him?" she said, evenly.

"Uh, why would you ask that? He's another guy," gulped.

"I know that such things are possible. You're cousin, William, has a
partner."

Marquis began to weep, knowing that he'd been found out.

"Don't worry, Baby, it's our secret if it must be."

"Dad will throw me out and cut me off if he finds out!" Marquis sobbed.

"Never you mind; if he does, I'll help you. You can come live with me."

"But, I can't leave CP!"

"Of course you can't. I wasn't thinking. I can send you money to help. I
have a lot more stashed away than I let my children know about. You will
get your college tuition paid for, and you can take some small loans to
help with expenses if you have to."

"Thanks! I feel a lot more hopeful than I did. You're giving me way too
much, but I'll accept it!"

"Christmas IS the season of giving, after all," she smiled.

----------

Back home, Charles and CP had a simple, but difficult celebration. They
brought Grandma out to the house for dinner on Christmas Day. It was a
very trying time because she vacillated between being frightened of her
environment and acting out in disturbing ways.

As the sun began to set, she swore at them and called them liars who were
trying to kill her. She became violent and uncontrollable to the point
that Charles had to call the care facility to come and get her because he
was afraid of what she might do in the car.

Both father and son cried after she was gone. The visit was one they vowed
not to repeat in the future, although it grieved them to realize it had
come to this. They would continue to see her in the care center.

----------

The first term passed rather quickly, as semesters tend to do when students
are busy with classes and activities. When the new term began, many of the
seniors were ready for it to end too. But it was likely to drag on, being
the last of their high school careers.

CP and Marquis were antsy for more reasons than wanting school to end.
They were talking about going to junior college for two years to stretch
their funds, but Marquis didn't think he could live at home much longer.

"I almost wish someone would rat me out to my father so I could break ties
with him completely," Marquis sighed. "We could get a little one bedroom
unit near the school and be together all the time."

"C-careful wh-what y-you w-wish f-for!"

----------

Marquis remembered CP's ominous warning two days later when he walked in
the back door of his home.

"You're not only a sissy, but a faggot piece of shit!" his father yelled.

"I found out you've been fucking with that cracka spastic. I want you out
of my house, NOW!"

"Damon Coltrane, you leave our son alone! You didn't even give him a
chance to defend himself. Is he automatically guilty? On top of that, you
WILL NOT talk like that to anyone, much less your own flesh and blood!"

"He's nothing to me anymore!"

"He's right, Momma. I'm in love with CP and I full well expect to spend the
rest of my life with him."

"Why don't you see if he'll let you stay at his house until your daddy
comes to his senses? Or, is his father as big of a bigot as yours?"

"His dad is fine with us." Marquis said, biting his lip in an attempt not
to cry.

"Marquis is NEVER coming back into this house!" his father declared.

"Well, if it depends on you coming to your senses, Damon, I expect he never
will! Maybe you're the one who should worry about not being welcome under
this roof!"

"He better take whatever of his stuff he hopes to keep right now. I mean
it!" Damon announced, ignoring his wife's warning.

----------

Marquis and CP exchanged text messages about the problem and its solution.
Although Marquis hadn`t anticipated any objections to his staying with CP
for the time being, he did not expect the welcome he received.

The minute he walked into the kitchen from the back porch, Marquis received
a strong hug from Charles.

"Welcome to the family, Son. You may stay as long as you can stand us. I
promise to be a good father and not take sides if you two get into an
argument. I love you because you love my son and have made him the
happiest he's ever been."

While Charles was giving his welcome speech, CP stood behind him nodding
enthusiastically. As soon as his father turned Marquis loose, CP took his
place. For the first time, they knowingly shared a kiss in front another
person. It was short and sweet, but packed with meaning for both of them.

"I'm planning to do some redecorating," Charles announced. "That big
master bedroom needs to have the wallpaper removed and get painted a color
you two can agree on. It's too large for one person in a queen sized bed.
However, I think it would be perfect for a young couple with a new king
sized bed. I want you to be comfortable so you'll be content to go to the
community college for two years. That way I can count on having company
for awhile yet."

"I don't need anything fancy!" Marquis demurred. "A roof over my head is
sufficient."

"That may be, but it will please me to spoil you guys a bit. Things WILL
get better, Marquis!"

"They already have!"
