CHAPTER SIXTEEN

After the galloping hormones episode Davey and Johnny Walker settled down
happy and content to be in each other's company. Davey's Karate classes
were booming but he was still desperate to find a personal trainer to help
him become fit and get into gymnastics big time. All his adopted family had
feelers out and several contenders had come forward but none up to standard
as far as Davey was concerned.

While at the Providence Hospital the relationship between Garrett and Edwin
was blossoming with Edwin slowly making progress and appearing to improve
under the guidance of the doctors administering a brand new drug aimed at
combatting aids. This frail young lad still had some bad days and nights
but almost always Garrett was beside him helping him if he was sick or
couldn't control his bowels. Nothing was too much trouble for a guy who
under his mother's control had tried to murder and had raped young Davey.

Dr Keith Jamieson a shrink from England had worked wonders with him and was
now preparing him and Davey for a face to face confrontation.

Because Garrett slept beside Edwin every night a small side room had been
made available at the hospital. A larger bed was placed in there so every
night they could sleep together more comfortably.

Not long after they moved into the new room Edwin was snuggling close to
Garrett where he began kissing him. This wasn't the first they had kissed
but this time it was for no reason and was certainly more passionate than
before, "What brought that on young Edwin?" Garrett asked.

"No real reason, I just felt the desire because I love you so much and want
you close to me for the rest of my life whether it be short or long."

"Cut out that short bit you're going to live a long and happy life and I
would love nothing better than to spend it by your side."

"Does this make us gay? And are you worried that we might be gay, because
it used to worry me but not anymore but only with you and no one else."

Garrett on hearing these words moved even closer and began kissing and
caressing his young friend, "I've been waiting for words like that from
your lips because I am truly deeply in love with you Edwin and yes if that
means we are gay so be it."

Little did they know that a small TV camera and microphone was catching
everything and was being watched by Keith Jamison and his doctor partner,
"I think we are watching a love affair in the making that will last for
ever." Keith said.

Holding onto each other kissing occasionally the two boys drifted off to
sleep.

The trial of Margaret Buchanan continued with the defence putting forward
their case. Following several outbursts and swinging moods the defence
lawyer decided not to call Margaret, instead the only witness he called was
an expert one Doctor Peter Johnson from Boston who had earlier been called
to examine Margaret.

After going through all the swearing in formalities the defence asked Dr
Johnson, "When you last examined and spoke to the accused you came up with
some startling thoughts of your own, would you please pass these thoughts
onto the jury."

"Margaret Buchan's husband walked out on her right after their only son
Garrett was born and this created a condition called The Oedipus complex
where her love was transferred from her husband to her new born.  Some
research has been carried out on this complex which as I think most of you
know stems back to ancient Rome, so it is nothing new."

"You hinted that little research has been done into this, what can I call
it a disease?"

"Well it is a disease of the mind and your right not a lot is known about
it except that it does exist.  Treatment is long term but of course in this
case sadly it was not discovered in time. Of course it is now too late
because the damage as been done with her son Garrett performing those
terrible acts on an innocent young boy."

The defence lawyer continued, "If spotted early enough this could all this
have stopped before it began?"

"Yes, in my opinion I think it could, bearing in mind that the one needing
more long term help and guidance would have to be Garrett the son.  While I
have not met him or examined him I believe he is the one who now requires
treatment."

The defence questioned Doctor Johnson at length mainly on technicalities
before handing him over to the prosecution who were not very happy because
the defence had slipped this in and caught them unaware.

"Doctor Johnson thank you for explaining this complex in such detail, but
what proof do we have that this definitely contributed to what took
place. After all we also have an accomplice who is soon to be tried and she
isn't even married."  This brought a loud objection from the defence and
the reference was immediately withdrawn but not before the jury had heard
it and even if they were told by judge Garcia to ignore the thought it was
instilled in their minds.

The prosecution asked only a few minor technical of the doctor before he
was dismissed and the defence case closed.  Judge Garcia called it a day
stating that tomorrow would be set aside for summing up by both parties.

Sally realized over breakfast that she had a couple of big tasks to do
today.  The first was to get the younger boys tutor Jonathon Mars set up
and organised.  He had been taken on by Joey to help some of the more
disturbed boys who were missing some school time and he would keep them to
date up by giving them extra tuition at the home.

She found he was a nice pleasant, presentable young man in his twenties who
was fit and obviously worked out in his spare time. Joey had found him a
small reception room and fitted it out with some tables and chairs and it
was here that Sally went through the short list of young boys who would be
coming to him several times a week or as needed.

No sooner had they finished this conversation when two of the boys in
question nervously appeared at the door.  After introductions Sally left
them with Jonathon to get on with their work.

Her next job was for her son Luke and the El Paso police department, who
you may remember at an executive meeting decided that the poor budget being
allotted to the police department by the El Paso council should be `leaked'
to the media.  So with a handful of coins in hand along with some notes
from Luke and a few phone numbers of the local press, radio and TV she
found a remote phone box from which to do the deed.

It took little time to anonymously pass on the required information and she
hoped that this would do the trick and make the El Paso city council grant
chief Falster more money so that the police department could maintain the
high standard of efficiency which had been set since he took office.

Meanwhile Luke and Pru were continuing to have problems with Pru's mother
who was trying to rush the pair into a wedding. One that as yet they
weren't ready for and certainly not one on such a big scale as was being
planned. "You've got to be more forceful with your mother Pru." Luke
pointed out before adding, "plus she has insisted on calling me here at the
office with trivial details relating to our wedding, which appears not to
be our wedding anymore."

"I know darling she can be a pain at times.  I'll try talking to her again
but everything I say about the wedding falls on deaf ears." Pru told him.

"What about your father can't he say something?"

Laughing Pru remarked, "Dad years ago decided it was best to switch off and
just nod your head whenever his wife was on the warpath."

"So we can't rely on him either?"  Pru nodded in agreement as they both
went on with their work.

Later in the day chief Falster came into Luke's office all smiles with the
afternoon edition of the local paper, "Sally did a wonderful job with the
press, my phone is ringing off the hook and look at the headline." Right
there on the front page was the news that the police department would soon
be broke unless the Mayor and council gave them more money in the budget.

"Whomever leaked this story did a wonderful job.  I'm being inundated by
requests for interviews and have just been called up to the mayor's
office."

Today was also the first day that Keith Jameson started work at the hotel
and once again Joey had set aside an office for him to use when he was
there.  Providence had also done the same at the hospital so that he could
see patients there as well.

He spent most of the morning looking thorough his notes and the one thing
that he was still undecided about was the meeting he was considering
between Davey and Garrett.  This was dangerous ground with little in the
text books for him to go on.  While he was sure the progress he had made
with Garrett was enough to have him ready to confront young Davey. However,
he wasn't too sure about Davey who was still extremely vulnerable and
fragile, not only because of the rape instigated by Garrett but the fact
that he was also attacked earlier before he came to El Paso.

Finally he decided that after school this afternoon he will speak with
Davey and test his reaction once again. He then went and introduced himself
to the new tutor Jonathon apologizing for the interruption and asking if he
could talk to one of his pupils.  "Sorry for the interruption but these
boys also come under my guidance and if you don't mind I'd like to chat
with them from time to time."

"No problem I've heard some good things about you Doctor Jamieson and the
boys here even though we have just started to get to know each other think
you're a great guy along with Sally."

Laughing Keith replied, "Well that's good to know." He looked at his watch
and whispered so all three could hear anyway, "What say we break early for
lunch and sneak down to the dining room. I'm on first name times with the
cook and know which refrigerator he keeps the ice cream in."

The boys of course thought that was a good idea and Jonathon still trying
to gain the boys trust thought it would help anyway.  In the dining room
Keith organised the ice cream which the boys were enjoying when in walked
Gloria to get some lunch.  Keith introduced her to Jonathon and as they sat
eating he asked to speak to her privately.

Apologizing to the others they moved to another table and Keith explained
that he was seriously thinking of bringing Davey and Garrett together,
under supervision of course and what were her thoughts as Davey's adopted
mother.

"I am nervous which I think you are as well Keith, but I have faith that if
this causes a setback to Davey's recovery you will be able to help him
back.  Frankly, Johnny Walker junior has been so good for him.  It looks
like they will be together for a long time to come and that I think will
help Davey cope. Sorry I rambled on a bit there but you know what I mean."

"I'm inclined to agree and with your permission I would like to set up this
meeting this afternoon when Davey comes home from school. I will go and
collect Garrett, who I might add is a changed young man now that he is away
from his mother, and we will sit down around the table.  To be on the safe
side I will have one of the upstairs guards sitting at the back of the room
just in case but I don't think that will be necessary."

Gloria agreed with everything he said and before they re-joined the others
at the table thanked him for all the help he was giving her new son.

Joining Jonathon and the two boys Gloria was sure that she had seen the new
tutor before, his face was very familiar but she couldn't quite place him.
Finally her curiosity got the better of her and she asked him outright when
and where she they had met.

Laughing Jonathon said, "I wondered how long it would take before someone
recognised me. It was the last Olympics during the gymnastics
competition. When I was all lined up for the gold medal I had a nasty fall,
broke my ankle in a couple of places and that finished my career as a
gymnast forever.  So it was back to teaching."

Gloria was silent for a while as it all came back to her, "Tell me Jonathon
who recommended you for this position?  That's if you don't mind me being
nosy."

"Not at all, it was principle Michaels and yes he did have an ulterior
motive, he wants me to have a look at your Davey with a view to coaching
him.  By all accounts he is another me when I was his age but we have to be
careful because of his injuries.  Am I right?"

"You certainly are, we have been looking for someone to help Davey and here
you are an Olympic champion right in our midst."  Gloria was so excited
that she gave Jonathon a big kiss and a hug much to the delight of the two
young boys.

Looking at his watch Jonathon told the boys to finish eating and head back
to the classroom so they can get some work done today.  While Gloria dashed
off to tell anyone who would listen the good news about Davey's new
trainer, Keith headed back to the hospital to prepare Garrett for this
afternoons meeting.

Back at the courthouse the final summing up by both sides had begun with
the prosecution going over once again the gang leader aspect of Margaret
Buchanan's part in the rape and attempted murder of Davey along with the
long term abuse Garrett suffered at his mother's hands in her bed.  The
Oedipus complex theory put forward by Doctor Peter Johnson was briefly
dwelt with saying that not enough was known about this theory and little
research had been carried out. So to even consider it was nonsense.

Finally in closing he said, "This was an horrendous crime instigated by an
evil woman whose sole purpose in life was to train her son to rid the world
of as many homosexual youth as he could. This was brain washing which even
Adolf Hitler couldn't have surpassed during the holocaust."

One could see by the looking at the jury that his speech had made a big
impression.  Judge Garcia called a halt for lunch with the defence making
their final speech when court resumed.

Back at Providence Hospital, Keith Jamison approached Garrett asking if he
could speak with him, "You should know by now Keith that anything you have
to say Edwin can be here as well." Garrett said with a smile.



"How do you feel about meeting Davey this afternoon? Now if either of you
say no then I will abide by your wishes and I won't be down on either of
you.  I do however feel Garrett that you are ready to sit down and talk
with Davey about what happened that day in school."

"Keith to say I'm not scared would be wrong and I just wish Edwin here
could be by my side but that's not possible.  I will speak with Davey just
as long as you are there as well."

Keith explained all the ground rules to Garrett and he was happy, well not
happy but satisfied and in agreement with the meeting.  He left Garrett
talking to Edwin and went to make arrangements for the meeting.

The defence lawyers speech had very little power or guts in it at all.  He
spent some time discussing Peter Johnson's theory before finally pointing
out that the only person who actually committed a crime was Garrett
Buchanan and it was he who should be punished, not his long suffering
mother. Judge Garcia then gave the jury the usual instructions before
sending them on their way to deliberate and return a verdict.

In the car back to the hotel Garrett was very quiet. Once they got there
Keith told him to remain in his office while he spoke to Davey who was in
the big hall getting ready for his Karate class.

He explained to Davey with exactly the same words as he had Garrett and
without hesitation the young man agreed.  He gave instructions to some of
the others regarding the classes and followed Keith to a meeting room.  A
guard came down from the bad boy's floor as it had been dubbed by the
others and he was sitting at the back of the room near the door.

Nervously Davey sat waiting while Keith went to get Garrett.  When the door
opened he began to shake at the sight of Garrett walking into the room. If
only he knew just how scared Garrett was at this time.

Both boys sat down opposite each other at the table with Keith between them
who sat back more towards the wall so as not to be a barrier between
them. "Boys I know this will be a very confronting meeting and hard to take
but I would like you both to relax and breathe deeply and most importantly
think about what you want to say to each other.  It can be compassion or
hatred, whatever you want to say."

Both Davey and Garrett looked him and nodded but neither of them spoke.
The tension in the room was building but Keith decided to let it go a
little bit longer. In the end it was Davey who with tears in his eyes
uttered one word, "Why?"

Garrett replied almost straight away and with tears rolling down his cheeks
said, "I don't know Davey and I've regretted it ever since.  What we did
was wrong and I will never ever forgive myself for as long as I live.  I
beg you to, maybe not right away but sometime in the future to forgive me."

Garrett's hands began moving slowly across the table towards Davey's and
the guard stiffened and was beginning to rise to intervene until Keith
nodded his head slightly and he settled back in his chair. The hands
continued to move slowly and then Davey's moved as well and it took what
appeared to be an eternity until their hands met in the middle.

"I forgive you Garrett, because it wasn't your fault. You had no ideas of
your own in your mind while you were doing those things to me.  I forgive
you because I believe you are now a much better person, a kind caring
person. I have heard about all the wonderful things you are doing at the
hospital to try and make a dying boys days just that bit better and that is
the true Garrett the one who I forgive."

Sobbing both boys stood up moving around the table to embrace each other,
crying in each other's arms with Garrett repeating over and over how sorry
he was.  Even the hard faced prison guard had tears rolling down his
cheeks, while Keith Jameson was sobbing loudly amazed at the site he had
just witnessed between these two young men.

Davey continued, "I hear you have a good friend Edwin who's not doing too
good because of the rape he suffered and that terrible disease he caught.
I would like to meet him if that's alright with you and can my boyfriend
Johnny Walker come with us as well."

Before answering Garrett looked at Keith who nodded, `I have talked to him
a lot about you Davey and he would I'm sure, love to meet you and Johnny."
They continued to chat for some time about many things skirting around the
reason why they were brought together yet they still held hands.

Finally Keith said that they should get back to the hospital and the two
boys began moving towards the door. Davey was first at the door but he
didn't open it instead he turned and embraced Garrett in a hug which was
quickly returned.  Garrett whispered so that almost no one else could hear,
"I'm so sorry Davey, what we did to you will haunt me for the rest of my
life and if I can do anything to make up for that, just tell me."

Whispering just as quiet back Davey said, "Be my friend that's all I ask."

They walked out together to greet Johnny anxiously waiting outside the
door.  Davey introduced him to Garrett and they too embraced acting like
long lost friends.  Keith thanked the guard and followed them out of the
room.  He hugged Davey and Johnny as they walked outside to his car and
while Garrett got into the passenger seat Keith said to Davey, "Thank you
for being so forgiving young man, you are one in a million."  After more
hugs they drove back to the hospital while Davey and Johnny hand in hand
went back to his Karate school.

Davey had yet to meet the new tutor at the school and he was surprised to
see a new face in his masters class which was just finishing.  Looking at
the man Davey thought his face was familiar but couldn't quite place it.

When the class was finished Gloria came up with the new face in tow beaming
all over her face. "Davey I'd like you to meet the new tutor for the boys
here at the hotel.  This is Jonathon Mars."

Davey then realized who the young man was standing before him, "Not the
Jonathon Mars ex-Olympic gymnast?"

"Yes, that's me in the flesh and you're the Davey I have heard so much
about.  They tell me your looking for some help to get back on track with
your gymnastic work and I would love to offer my services.  Now that I can
no longer do much because of my shattered ankle I can hopefully pass on
some of the training and expertise that I received to someone like
yourself, who until you had a little set back was also on the way to
becoming an Olympic hopeful."

Blushing Davey agreed that he did enjoy Gymnastics very much.  Jonathon
continued, "According to your mother I have to speak to your doctor before
we do anything too strenuous and we will have to take things very slowly at
first."  Davey agreed and they were soon chatting like old friends.

After supper and after much pleading with Gloria, she finally agreed to
allow them to go to Providence hospital and meet Garrett's sick friend
Edwin. Earlier Keith Jamison had explained to her everything that had
transpired in the meeting with Garrett. While she felt relieved and happy,
there were still some feelings of mistrust that she felt toward Davey's
attacker.

Jacob told her that he would drive them down to the hospital and keep an
eye on his newly adopted brother and his boyfriend and make sure they spent
only an hour there and no longer.

Arriving at the hospital they entered the AIDS ward on the top floor to be
greeted by Keith's boyfriend Doctor Evans who showed them into the little
side room which had been set aside for Edwin and Garrett. In fact Edwin
hadn't had too good a day today and was very pale and looking sick.  When
Garrett introduced them to him he brightened up smiling, making both of
them feel more comfortable.

Not wanting to play the part of the domineering older brother Jacob and his
partner Dwayne went down to the cafeteria until the hour was up.  Meanwhile
the four of them got on like a house on fire acting as if they had been
lifelong friends, "Thank you for forgiving my boyfriend here for what he
did Davey."

Davey looked at him on hearing the words boyfriend, "Yes you heard right,
we do look upon each as boyfriends. Neither of us are sure if we are gay or
not but we love each dearly and intend to stay together forever if that's
at all possible.  It is Garrett who has kept me alive over the past couple
of weeks and I hope he will continue to do so for a lot longer."

After saying that, he surprised the other two by leaning over and kissing
Garrett fully on the lips. A kiss that lasted for quite a while until he
fell back on his pillow breathless.  Garrett immediately gave him extra
oxygen and fussed over him, scolding him for putting on a show and making
himself sicker.

Edwin smiled whispering, "it was worth it."

The other two chatted with Edwin but really didn't know what to say while
Garrett just sat back saying nothing, also not sure what to talk about with
Davey and Johnny.  The scene in that tiny little room at the hotel when
Davey forgave him still dwelt on his mind and yet he felt love and
affection for the three young guys sitting around Edwin's bedside.

All too soon Jacob came back telling the boys it was time to go home
because it was a school day tomorrow, "if we are able can we come back and
see you guys again?" Davey asked and both boys nodded with Edwin telling
them, "Please, Garrett and I would love to see you again."

They hugged each other until it came to Davey and Garrett and they both
momentarily stared at each other before Davey held out his arms and gave
Garrett a hug.  The smile on Garrett and Edwin's face said it all as Johnny
Walker followed suit.

Going back home in the car Jacob remarked how great it was to see you all
getting on so well, "Davey you are a wonderful and kind forgiving young man
to be so nice to Garrett and I'm proud that you are now my brother."

Johnny Walker hadn't said very much all night and even now sitting in
Jacob's truck he snuggled up close to his lover feeling so happy and
comfortable with him.  Later that night once they got into bed they got as
close as they could, kissing and caressing before going down on each other,
making each other climax in a massive rush of love juice.

Once they had finished they began kissing again, swapping juices as they
always do before Johnny said, `Davey I love you more than anything else in
the world and what you did tonight for Garrett was wonderful, goodnight
lover and remember I'm always here for you."

Davey didn't say anything, just returned his kisses before sleep overtook
them.

Police headquarters and the Mayor's office were both in turmoil as the
Mayor demanded to know how the media got all the information about the
budget cuts to the police force.  Chief Falster had been in and out of
meetings all day denying any knowledge of how that information got out and
assuring the Mayor that none of his officers would stoop so low.

Still it didn't stop a big inquiry from going on, which turned out to be a
waste of time and effort getting no were.  In the end it did do some good
because a few days later a vastly amended budget was handed down to the
media making Chief Falster and his deputies very happy and it was a
surprised Sally who received a massive bunch of flowers delivered to her
office with just two words on the note, `Thank You'.

While Sally and Bethany didn't see too much of each other the words
Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder appeared to be working, because when
they did manage to get some time together, their love making was intense to
say the least.

It was just after lunch that the jury sent word back to judge Garcia that
they had reached a verdict, "Well they must have waited so they could have
one more meal before calling me, " He joked to Judge Harold Evans as he
donned his robe ready to go back into court.

Once he was in place on the bench and the jury had returned he asked if
they had reached a verdict.  The forewoman said they had. "And what is your
verdict?  Do you find Margaret Buchanan guilty or not guilty?"

"We find the accused guilty as charged."  This brought some cheers from the
public gallery and while Judge Garcia called for order he then went on to
announce that he would hand down his sentence in the morning.  He then
thanked the jury and adjourned the court.

Straight after school Jonathon Mars and Davey along with of course Johnny
Walker went to Providence hospital not to see Edwin and Garrett but this
time to meet Dr Whitmore, Davey's, in fact the whole family's doctor .
Noted for his promptness they didn't have to wait long before they were
shown in to his surgery, "Well young Davey how are you getting on, I
haven't seen you for a while so you must be getting better."

"I feel much better now doctor and I'd like to introduce my new gymnastic
trainer Jonathon Mars."

"Well that name rings a bell, I take it you're the Jonathon Mars ex-Olympic
Gymnast.  That must have been quite a blow when you damaged your ankle like
you did."

"Yes sir it was devastating but now I hope I can put my knowledge to some
good use and create a new Olympic champion in young Davey here.  Which is
why we've come to see you to get some advice on his injuries and when we
can get into some real training?"

Doctor Whitmore said, "Well Davey if you'd like to hop on the bed there and
the rest of you wait outside I'll have a look and see how things are
going."  The other two did his bidding and Davey had already taken off his
pants and shorts and lying with his butt up in the air.

Chuckling Doc Whitmore said, "Well you haven't forgot the routine and tell
me have you and Johnny been behaving?"  Blushing Davey said, "It's not been
easy but yes we have."

"Good, now let's have a look." He produced several instruments so that he
could have a close look inside Davey's butt and after pushing and probing
for several minutes he told Davey he could get dressed. "Do you want me to
talk to you in private or call the others back in?"

"Maybe you could bring Johnny back in for the all too important question,
can we go all the way?"  Laughing the doc did just that and it was an
anxious Johnny who came back in and sat down next to his partner holding
his hand.

"Davey you're wounds are fully healed.  There is still some scarring which
will be with you for life I'm afraid. Now you want to know about your love
making. Well personally I still think you are both a bit young but that's
not going to stop you is it?"  Both boys blushed and nodded as he
continued, "Johnny the answer is yes but I want you to use lots of
lubrication and don't go crazy and do it every night twice a night. Maybe
for now once a week and if you can be patient a bit further apart than
that.  Davey if you find any signs of blood come and see me at once,
understand?"

Both Davey and Johnny nodded smiling at each other, "thank you doctor
Whitmore for all you have done for me."

"All part of the service and I hear from Doctor Jamieson that you had a
meeting with Garrett and it turned out good.  That will help you with your
mind.  Now let's bring in one of the world's greatest gymnasts and tell him
some good news as well."

When Jonathon came back in and sat down the doctor explained to him all
about Davey's injuries.  "He can start light training straight away but
don't overdo it.  Ease him into the program gently and slowly and I'd like
to check him out once a month."

With everything cut and dried they thanked the doctor before leaving his
surgery three very happy people, even if for different reasons.  Davey
asked if they could pop up upstairs and see Edwin and Garrett before they
went home and Jonathon said he would be waiting in the cafeteria for them.

As soon as they saw Edwin they realized all was not well, he looked very
pale and sick and smiled weakly at them. Garrett motioned for them to come
close telling them that he was having a bad day being sick and unable to
control his bowels or to keep any food down, "He has days like this when it
really takes it out of him."

Davey said in that case they wouldn't stay long and after kissing and
hugging both of them they quietly left, and after finding Jonathon they
headed for home.

Carlos and Kimberley who you may remember were instrumental in saving Davey
from the ravages of Garrett and his gang had been very quiet for a while,
but they had been helping Davey with his Karate classes.  They had also
been busy falling more and more in love with each other. They did however
have to take things very carefully, having already been caught sleeping
together by their respective parents.

In fact when they came back from the hospital it was these two who met up
with Davey and Johnny. Naturally Davey was excited and couldn't wait to
tell them and introduce his new gymnastic coach. "You said right from the
start Carlos that you wouldn't mind training alongside me when the time
came, well Doctor Whitmore has given me the green light to start training
so would you like to join me?"

"That's great news Davey and both Kimberly and I would love to be able to
support you in your training if that's all right with you Jonathon?"

"Davey will develop much better if he has someone else besides himself to
not only compare his own achievements to, but to have someone to support
him and encourage him.  So welcome to the team."

Handshakes and hugs followed with every one smiling expect for Johnny
Walker Jr. Who was looking sad and left out of things.  Davey spotted this
and after the group broke up he took Johnny up to their room. Sitting him
down on the bed next to him, putting his arm around him he spoke, "Johnny I
know you're not very athletic minded like I am and feel left out of things,
but remember please I love you dearly and I will need you all the time at
my side encouraging me, helping me to achieve my goals.  I would dearly
like to be ready for the next Olympics or if not then the one after and I
will need all your love and affection."

They turned to each other and kissed and were playing tongue hockey when
Davey's mother knocked on the door asking if they had done their homework.
That put their lovemaking on hold for the time being.

Luke and Pru were meanwhile absolutely sick and tired of getting calls at
all hours of the day and night, at work and home from Pru's mom talking
about the wedding. "We've just got engaged for goodness sake and I suppose
the minute were married she'll be nagging us for grandkids." Luke mentioned
this to Pru who agreed, commenting that she too was sick and tired of
hearing from her mom.

"I've left word with the switchboard that we are not to be disturbed when
she calls telling her that we are both in meetings and can't be
interrupted."

Luke thanked her for that but it didn't stop the night-time calls.  In the
end Pru had to get quite rude with her mother and tell her to butt out and
to mind her own business.  When they are finally ready to start making
wedding plans they will tell her and until then they didn't want to hear
any more about it.

Of course that reduced her mother to tears making Pru feel lousy but as
Luke pointed out that was the only way to get the message across to the
woman. In turn this caused a bit of tension and friction between the two of
them but Luke knew just where to kiss Pru's body and what to do to relieve
the stress.  Thank goodness it was bedtime.

Promptly at ten am the next morning Judge Garcia walked into his court room
ready to sentence Margaret Buchanan for what happened not only to Davey but
to her son Garrett as well.

"Margaret Buchanan, the crimes you committed against your son Garrett
Buchanan were despicable and unnatural.  I for one found it hard to
comprehend that a woman of your intelligence would degrade and deprave your
only offspring from such an early age.  Then to brainwash him which is the
only words I can find to describe the way you convinced him to commit such
an horrendous crime against such a young innocent child. To the point of
almost killing him and lets not forget the poor young man who went to this
child's aid and was stabbed saving the life of his school principal.  You
and you alone were responsible for all these crimes and acts of violence.
I have no hesitation in sentencing you to eighteen years in prison with no
possibility of parole. Take the prisoner down, this court is adjourned."

Some of Margaret's supporters in court began screaming and yelling along
with Margaret herself who called the judge, jury and anyone she could think
of obscenities as she was dragged below to a prison van to be taken away,
ready to begin her sentence.

Also in court was the other Margaret, the social worker who was charged
with aiding and abetting along with her council.  After a meeting with them
she was advised to plead guilty and throw herself at the mercy of the
court.  Consequently she received a lesser sentence of five years.

Garrett was told the news by Keith Jamison and just shrugged his shoulders
saying, "Now Edwin and I can get on with our lives."

In fact Edwin wasn't very well at all and his condition was worsening so
much so that the experimental drug doctors were flown to his side and a
feeling of doom and gloom had settled over the AIDS ward.  Garrett refused
to leave his boyfriends bedside sitting there holding his hands and talking
to him almost non-stop telling him not to give up, that he wanted to spend
his whole life with him.

Keith and his partner Doctor Evans were also worried that Garrett wouldn't
be able to cope if Edwin died and decided that they would call in Davey and
Johnny Walker to help support him if Edwin's condition worsened.

Davey and Johnny unaware of what was going at the hospital were doing their
homework in the dining room with some of the other boys when the call came
through for Davey.

He took the call and it was a tearful Garrett, "Oh Davey its Edwin he's ...

Writer's corner.

Welcome to another chapter of rebirth and thank you all for the many e
mails and comments I have been receiving about this story and my other
ones.

Firstly I realized that I haven't thrown a cliff-hanger in for some time
and I know some of you will hate me for it but well I just couldn't help
myself.

A lot happened in this chapter. Margaret, Garrett's mom looks like going
away for a long time a sentence which she justly deserves. Although her
defence may decide to appeal who knows.

For me the big event which brought tears to my eyes as I wrote it was the
forgiving of Garrett by Davey and the way they made up and look set to
become friends.  I feel a bit sorry for Johnny Walker Jr. Who must be
feeling just a little bit left out right now. Although the news from Dr
Whitmore would have cheered him up and maybe in the next chapter the boys
will finally go all the way.

Jonathon Mars arrived and once again Davey looks as if one of his childhood
dreams which was shattered before he even came to El Paso may yet see the
light of day and perhaps down the track even an Olympic medal, who knows.

Sally's secret phone calls meant that the police budget became more
feasible and well a lot of other little things happened in this chapter as
well.

Richie's Editors Corner

Wow, what a cliff hanger.  I know I want Edwin to survive so badly but we
will all have to wait to see how Trevor is going to handle this situation.

Like Trevor I loved the scene where Davey and Garrett were finally brought
together and how forgiving Davey was.  You could feel that Davey truly
understood what caused Garrett to act like he did and that it was not him
but his mother who was responsible for these acts.  You could feel how much
Garrett felt sorry for his actions.  I am so glad they are going to become
friends.  Forgiveness not only helps the person responsible for committing
the act but also helps the victim to begin to heal.

I was glad to see Margaret finally get her due.  May her prison stay be a
holy hell.  She is not one bit repentant for what she has done to Davey or
Garrett.  It will be interesting to see if she appeals and wins a new
trial.

I am looking forward to seeing Davey and Johnny Walker Jr finally seal the
deal.  Should be one hell of a love making session.
