CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE

Author's note: throughout this story I have been saying that the Olympics
will be held in Madrid, when we all know that they were actually held in
Barcelona. Be assured that all my characters went to the right city and I
was the only one in Madrid.

After making a perfect landing onto the mat there was a stunned silence
until everyone began cheering and applauding their hero. Several came up to
shake his hand and the past Olympic bronze medal winner who was the
countries previous best said, "If that doesn't score perfect tens then
something's wrong with the system. There is no one else in the world that
can beat that."

After a break Davey then showed what he could do on the parallel bars and
again the new movements astounded everybody. Included in the
congratulations was Jonathon who invented most of these moves which
everyone agreed would change the world of gymnastics forever.

A couple of days later and it was time to make the trip across the border
back into Spain and Barcelona. The US Olympic bosses decided to show the
team some of the great scenery on the way to relax them and give them a bit
of breathing space.

Finally they arrived at the Olympic Village and were all booked in, given
their accommodations and taken to the village to show them where everything
was. Davey and Johnny were delighted to find that the head coach had them
both in the same room. As he explained to Jonathon, having the boys sleep
together would be good for their morale.

One of the first friendly faces they saw was Paul the son of the
ex-ambassador for Russia.  As they embraced Davey asked Paul about his
Russian boyfriend Slavek, "how is it with Slavek your boyfriend going?"

"Couldn't be better, in fact I'd like you to meet him tonight but we have
to be very discreet because the Russians are watching us very closely. We
have something to tell you but it must be strictly between the four of us,
no one else must ever know what is going on."

"That sounds very mysterious. "Davey said with a nervous grin.

"I can't say any more until we meet tonight" Paul added. Just then his
father and mother arrived to wish Davey all the best.

The guys spent the rest of the day relaxing and exploring the village with
Jonathon giving Davey a rest day with instructions for an early start in
the morning. It wasn't until dinner time that they met up once again with
Paul and Slavek. After getting their meal all four sat down together at a
table separated from other diners but not too far away to raise any
suspicions.

Paul whispered that it would be best if they appeared to be laughing joking
and making general conversation. In between the laughing and joking Paul
explained that Slavek wanted to defect to the USA so he can be with his
lover and also enjoy a safer lifestyle without the pressure he is under
right now.

"How do you plan to do this?" Davey asked.

"We have a plan but need your help to carry it out." Paul explained, before
going into details of what was going to happen during the closing
ceremony. Later both Davey and Johnny agreed it was a daring plan that just
could work. Once they had worked out some finer details the boys headed
back to their room in the village to enjoy a good night's sleep in each
other's arms.



They were up early the next day for a run around the training track before
a few other exercises. Jonathon and their head coach had decided that Davey
wouldn't do any of the complicated parts of his routine until the actual
competition due to the element of surprise and spying eyes.

At lunchtime the guys met up with Paul, Slavek and several others proving
that it was the coaches and heads of state who looked upon the competition
as a battle rather than a friendly gathering of likeminded athletes. Mind
you several gymnasts from other countries tried to find out more about
Davey's routine but their questions were met with a sly grin, a wink and a
wait and see remark.

The next couple of days were more or less routine until finally it was
opening ceremony day. Davey was competing the next day but decided to march
with his fellow athletes anyway. His family and friends in the meantime had
arrived in Barcelona but of course weren't allowed to visit their sons.
Security in the athlete's village and the venues was very tight.

The opening ceremony was a spectacular event but went on a bit long and
Jonathon was panicking that Davey would be too tired the next day when he
took part in the qualifying round of gymnastics. Davey's routine for this
event was fairly basic with the more difficult stuff being reserved for the
finals.

Both Davey and Slavek made it through to the finals with America leading
the overall medal tally, Russia was second and the host nation Spain third.

Davey and Johnny were very disciplined and well behaved during the
competition.  They slept in each other's arms getting them very
horny. However, they abstained on going any further which kept them both
mentally and physically on edge.

The day of the final of the gymnastics dawned.  It was hot, sticky and
humid. While the stadium was well ventilated it had no air conditioning,
only giant ceiling fans which only served to swirl around the hot fetid
air. With a capacity crowd the temperature was decidedly unpleasant which
worried Jonathon regarding Davey being capable to perform at his peak.

It soon emerged that the two top contenders were going to be Davey and
Slavek who by now had become very good friends with the guys having met
most evenings at meal time's fine tuning the Russians escape plan.

With the finals now underway it was obvious the competition was going to be
fierce. Davey was drawn to go last in every section with the rings coming
up first. With this being his strongest event and rumors circulating
regarding his new routine the excitement was rising with Slavek currently
in front.

After undergoing his normal meditation before starting he then slowly
walked onto the podium, Jonathon beside him ready to lift him up. The whole
arena was a deathly quiet. Davey raised his arm to indicate that he was
ready and his coach hoisted him up to begin a routine which was to
revolutionize this event for ever.

The crowd at first was silent before they began to realize what they were
witnessing.  Before he had finished his routine every one, rivals and
supporters alike were on their feet cheering this great young athlete
on. As one commentator remarked, `None of the judges would have been game
to give him less than ten after that reaction'.

That is just what he received, seven ten's making Olympic history. As the
news flashed around the whole of the games everything stopped as the cheers
echoed not just around Barcelona but the world. In Washington the debate in
congress stopped as the news spread with Democrats and Republicans alike
applauding and cheering. Nothing like this had ever happened before because
a young American teenager had never achieved what Davey had just achieved.

Finally the stadium returned to normal and other events recommenced while
the nation's hero made his way back to the training area to ready himself
for his next event. One of the first to come up and give him a hug was
Slavek who whispered, "I am so looking forward to working with you in the
USA. I hope we become close friends."

"I'm sure we will Slavek and I pray everything goes well with our plan."
They both grinned and remained talking until his Russian coach angrily
called him away. Poor Jonathon was a basket case and was still crying tears
of joy as he embraced Davey. Jonathon I can't thank you enough for your
help in creating and teaching me that routine. All this is yours not mine
Davey explained, which started another round of tears from his coach.

Davey's other events once again demonstrated what a great athlete he was
with prefect ten's except for the horse which produced a couple of nine's
but without doubt he was the winner. The next big surprise was the medal
ceremony which unbeknown to Davey the President of the United States George
W Bush had asked the Olympic committee if he could present the medals.

As he placed the gold medals around Davey's neck President Bush said. "I
have never been more privileged than to hang this medal around your neck
Davey.  Your country is so proud of you. You are a great American, thank
you on behalf of all of us."

When he placed the silver around Slavek's neck he couldn't understand why
he and Davey burst out laughing when he said, "Congratulations, I just wish
you were American and not Russian." Little did he know that if all goes
according to plan during the closing ceremony, his words could come true.

Later that day the boys and Jonathon as well were given permission to leave
the village to attend a family party in one of Barcelona's finest hotels,
the Majestic.  Davey and Johnny's family, along with other supporters from
El Paso had more or less taken over the hotel.

When they arrived the boys were so thrilled to meet up with their families
including Johnny Senior who worked for the Texas Governor and Johnny had no
idea he would be there. The biggest surprise of all was the Governor
himself who was there to congratulate the pair of them and Jonathon as
well.

Davey's older adopted brother took him to one side once the initial
welcomes and tears from both mom's had subsided to explain that overnight
Davey had become a multi-millionaire with endorsement offers rolling in,
"Pepsi is offering twelve million dollars for a three year endorsement but
I think Coke will come back with an even bigger deal." He explained, "Nike
is willing to give you twenty three million for a five year deal and an
underwear company which has a range of briefs a bit on the daring side have
more or less given us a blank check if you and Johnny will model for
them. I will leave the decision up to you little Bro." He then went on to
explain the hundreds of other offers coming in by the hour.

Before rejoining the party Davey told his brother that he wanted to donate
ten million dollars to set up an AIDS foundation to carry out more research
into this terrible disease. His brother agreed stating his own company
Angel Corp, would match that figure.

The party was still in full swing when Davey started to get very weary, but
before leaving he took his older brother into his confidence regarding
Slavek's escape to the USA. He offered to help and together they came up
with a solution for the last problem that was bothering Paul and Slavek.

Tight security surrounded the boys as the returned to the Olympic village
and they were soon in the privacy of their own room. After showering they
laid in bed cuddling, both far too tired to make love but promising each
other that when they were rested ...

That moment came just as the sun was rising over the village and the night
chill was being replaced by a hot sticky day. They made sweet gentle love
for an hour or so. After sharing a shower they headed for breakfast.  It
was during the meal that they were joined by Paul and they told him of the
final part of the plan, "That's great, I can't thank you guys enough for
what you are doing. The Russians suspect something is up so we will have to
be very careful and you will be the one in the most danger Davey.'

"Don't worry my own security will make sure nothing happens to me."

Just then Davey and Johnny were whisked away for a round of TV, radio and
other media interviews. Both guys were very tired by the time they went to
dinner, followed by bed and another love session. Tomorrow was the closing
ceremony and they had nothing planned except to laze around the village
pool before meeting up with Paul for a final briefing on their daring plan.

They met at lunchtime and Paul said that Slavek was delighted with the news
about the offer from Davey's brother. They had to be very careful because
the Russians were watching both of them all the time, suspecting that
something was being planned but not sure what. Slavek wasn't allowed any
freedom at all, being told that the team had to remain together in
preparation for the closing ceremony.

Davey and Johnny had to be careful as well and at the team USA briefing
later that afternoon rules were laid down regarding the team's behavior
during the closing.

Finally it was time for them to assemble, followed by the long wait

before they marched out into the packed arena.  At last they were marching
and waving to the crowd, all of them carrying little American
flags. Everyone remained in order until after the official closing duties
were done and then as the entertainment began everyone began to mingle and
soon Slavek was next to the guys. As everyone crowded around them they
managed to change clothes so that Davey finished up with a Russian uniform
on and Slavek in Davey's outfit.

Luckily they were of similar size and while Slavek was slightly taller and
in the crowd the shortness of the pants wasn't noticed. Both of them then
parted. They wandered around and greeted other teams which made it
difficult for the Russians to keep tabs on their man and in any case they
were watching the wrong person.

It wasn't till the show finished and everyone was leaving did they realize
that they had been keeping watch on the wrong guy. The Russians tried to
seize Davey for questioning but his own security prevented this and he
finished up back with his team on the way to the village.

Several hours before that Slavek was hustled out of the stadium by Paul and
placed in a US government car manned by Paul's driver and was driven to the
airport were the Angel Corp executive jet was waiting to fly the pair of
them to Washington. Once in the air Paul contacted his father explaining
what was happening and so he could arrange for Government officials to meet
them at the airport.

Prior to this Paul's parents had no idea of their son and his lover's plans
but pledged full support once they were told. As an added bonus on the long
flight Paul and Slavek were able to join the mile high club.

The Russians tried to put the blame on Davey and the American team who kept
denying any knowledge of the plot claiming that Slavek asked to change
uniforms as a gesture of good will between two rival athletes.

With accusations flying back and forth for several days between the two
Governments it soon became obvious that Slavek was gone and he was allowed
to remain in America as a political refugee.

Meanwhile Davey, Johnny and the rest of the gymnastic team returned home to
a hero's welcome for having blitzed the rest of the world in gymnastics.

First they were flown to Washington and a presidential banquet in their
honor before the whole team took part in a ticker tape parade in New York
and all this was interspersed with TV and radio interviews. Johnny remarked
at one stage to Davey, "This is more exhausting than training and
competing."

Several television interviewers requested just Davey appear but he refused
to go on unless Johnny was by his side. Both of them by now were getting
homesick and longed for peace and quiet and relaxing with their families,
but they still had a lot more celebrity stuff to do as Davey called it
before this would happen.

Finally the day arrived when they guys were on their way back to El Paso
and home. Once again just like their return from the World championships
the whole city turned out to give them a hero's welcome. It was quite late
by the time everything was over and they were back in their own little
humble room in the hostel.

Exhausted they both lay side by side on the bed, a position they remained
in until Davey turned to his lover taking him into his arms whispering, "I
love you so much." Their lips met and what followed was an evening of
tender passionate romance which only two young people so deeply in love
could achieve.

Editors Corner:

Well it was great to see Davey win a few gold metals.  It is always great
to have an American win.  Know the Russians must have been pissed.

We know the Russians suspected that something was up with Slavek.  Though I
was glad the boys were able to figure a way of outsmarting the Ruskies. Now
I know the Russians know that Davey and his buddies were in on it even
though they cannot prove it.  I believe that even though they do not have
proof that they are capable of making some very serious things happen,
possibly to Davey himself.  Just my take.  Remember, Trevor tells me
nothing.  I only get to read what you get to read.
