Joe started out by showing him how to feed the baby calf. "This stuff stinks," Devyn said as he mixed the powder and water in the calf's bottle. "I bet it doesn't taste very good." "He doesn't seem to mind," Joe said indicating the calf that was waiting for Devyn at the fence. "But if you like go ahead and fix a bottle for yourself and you can give it a taste test. "I think I'll pass," Devyn said as he climbed over the fence and dropped down to the calf. The calf instantly started budding Devyn wanting fed. "Okay, okay, relax," Devyn said giggling as he offered the calf the nipple. The calf nursed eagerly on the bottle. The sucking sounds filling the barn. "What happened to his mother?" Devyn asked as the calf nursed. "She would not accept the calf for some reason," Joe said. "This is the second calf of hers that I have had problems with. I am going to sell her with the other calves in a few weeks. I have her over there in the feed lot fattening her up for market." "Oh, I wonder why it is that she won't nurse him." "I guess like some women who have post partum depression she just can't make that connection with her off spring." "Weird." Devyn soon learned how to drive a tractor and as Joe was bailing the hay into large round bails that weighed around 600 pounds, Devyn would pick them up with the hay fork on the tractor and hall them to the barn. It took him quite a while to get good at handling the hydraulics of the tractors front-end loader, but Joe was patient and gave him time to absorb all the new information. Devyn was developing the kind of relationship with Joe that he at one time had with his Dad. Devyn still had nightmares of his time with Tom. He also sometimes had the craving for the drugs that Tom gave him. He would often wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and end up not being able to go back to sleep. There was a time when he would have watched TV, but he did not have a TV in his room. He did not want to go down stairs and disturbed Joe, so at first he would just lie awake. One night he could not stay in bed. He was just too restless. He began pacing around. He had not considered that he was above Joe's room and that in an old house; the floor was likely to creak and squeak. "Are you alright?" Joe hollered from below Devyn. "Um, yes," Devyn had called back. "Sorry...I just feel restless." He had slid back into bed but then discovered he needed to pee. He got up and tried to be as quiet as he could. He did not want to disturb Joe any more than he already had. Devyn came out of the bathroom to find Joe in the kitchen. "I am sorry Joe. I really didn't mean to wake you or keep you up." "It is okay. I know you are a little restless. Did you have another dream?" Devyn had told Joe about the dreams. He thought that sharing them would help. It had not stopped the dreams, but it had made him feel better. Joe had been understanding and supportive. He had not judged Devyn at all. "Yes." "You aren't having them as often though?" "No, just once in a while. I, well, I guess I will probably always have bad memories of that time." "I am sure that is correct," Joe agreed. It was then that Devyn noticed for the first time that Joe was standing in the kitchen in only his white Hanes briefs. The white cotton material set off his tan. His manhood filled out the front of the briefs very nicely. Joe was one hot guy. Devyn had not seen him like this since that night in the hotel room and Devyn had been so ashamed of his actions then that he had not really studied Joe's body. He studied it now. The man was solid muscle and it was not from a gym. It was from countless hours of hard labor. His arms were made up of cords of steel. The biceps were large and solid. His chest was likewise rock hard. His stomach was flat. There was no six pack, but it could not be any flatter. His legs were also solid muscle. It had to come from carrying feed sacks and other heavy items around the farm. Joe's legs and arms had dark brown hair on them and there was a thick patch of the same hair between his two Pecs. It was probably also around his impressive tool, but Devyn could not tell that. Devyn could however tell he was getting turned on by the man standing almost naked before him. "Have you tried reading when you can't sleep?" Joe asked oblivious to Devyn's study. "Um, no," Devyn admitted. There are a few books in the front room, but there are more in the back bedroom upstairs. Feel free to help yourself. Devyn went into the living room and looked at the bookcase on the wall next to the sofa. He picked out a couple and went back upstairs. "Thanks," he said to Joe who was watching him walk up the stairs. Jo thought Devyn was looking a great deal better than he had that first week. The teen was still too skinny, but he had put on a little weight. Joe tried to make sure to fix meals that would put meat on Devyn's bones. Devyn also had more color than he had the first week. Having the boy help him on the farm was definitely bringing back some of the healthy look to him. Joe wondered if the teen was starting to grow the hair back around his teenage equipment. Joe had noticed when taking care of Devyn during Devyn's withdraw that the boy had been shaved completely smooth. There had not been a hair on the teen's body except for his head. Devyn's pits, legs, arms and crotch had all been shaved smooth. Joe did not notice any growth on the teen's legs or arms, but that might just take time. He was still a growing boy. The summer was flying by for Devyn. It seemed that he was learning and experiencing a simple way of life and he liked it. He went into town with Joe to do the shopping, but he had not made any friends. Joe had tried to get him to hang out with some of the neighbor kids, but Devyn was not interested in doing that. He hated to be away from Joe. He felt uneasy when Joe was not there. In some ways Joe had not only replaced his Mom and Dad, but he had also replaced the drugs that Tom had given him. Joe and Devyn had just finished supper and Devyn was washing the dishes. Their arrangement had become that Joe would cook, but Devyn had to do all of the clean up. It seemed to be an even enough arrangement. "You know," Joe said as he watched Devyn from the kitchen table. Devyn was wearing a sleeveless shirt and a pair of shorts. Devyn often changed when they came in from work. He could not wear the shorts when working on the farm, but in the house and yard he could. "School will be starting soon." "Oh," Devyn said. "The social worker sent your records to me. It looks like you will have to retake some classes..." "Yeah, I didn't do so well that last semester." "We can go in next week and get you registered and pick you up what you need," Joe said. "Yeah, sure...Um, I, um, don't suppose there is any way I could just drop out?" Devyn did not turn to look at Joe. He did not want Joe to see his feelings that were plain in his eyes. The fear and panic were almost overwhelming. "No, you need a high school diploma," Joe said. "Then you will go on to college." "Did you go to college?" Devyn said turning after he placed the last dish in the drainer to dry. "What I did or didn't do doesn't matter. But you should go to college." "I would rather just work the farm with you," he said. "There is so much to do and I can help you." "Well, we can talk about college later," Joe said. "I hope you will change your mind." "Joe," Devyn said softly. "Yeah?" "Um, I um am a little worried about school. I mean what will they know?" "Only what we tell them," Joe said. "When I took you to the doctor, I told him that you were my cousin. The doc doesn't gossip, so the fact that you were doing drugs should not be common knowledge. You can tell the friends you make as little or as much as you want." "What about the school," Devyn asked. He did not really want his teachers to know about his past. "I plan to tell them the same thing I told the Doc," Joe said. "I don't think they need to know any more than that. As long as you keep your nose clean it should all go fine." "Okay and thanks." Devyn was relieved. Maybe this would be a completely new start for him. The next week Joe drove Devyn into the high school. There were only a few cars in the lot but Devyn was still very nervous. "You okay?" Joe asked. "Yeah, just very nervous...I don't know why." Joe reached over and placed his hand against the back of Devyn's neck. He rubbed and squeezed the teen. "It will be fine. I know most of these people and most are good folk. Just be yourself." Devyn forced a smile and slid from the truck and followed Joe into the brick building. It was a two story building but much smaller than the school Devyn had previously attended. Joe passed through the double front doors and turned right and walked into the office. He stopped at the counter and was greeted by the secretary. "Joe! My God, it has been ages." "Hey Sally," Joe greeted. "How have you been? How is that husband of yours?" "We are both fine," she said and then glanced at Devyn. "This is my cousin Devyn," Joe said. "He is staying with me. His folks...well you know." "Oh yeah," she said as if she knew. Joe was sure she was thinking it was a divorce or something. "I have his records here," Joe said passing the papers to her. "He had some problems that last semester...you know the way parents get when things aren't..." "Don't say another word," Sally said. "I just have to put this in the computer and then we will figure him out a schedule. Dan is the guidance counselor and he should be here any minute. He will help Devyn pick all of the right classes." Devyn met with the guidance counselor and soon had his class schedule. He was a little nervous as Joe left him. He had grown very attached to the man. He felt like he was six instead of sixteen. The guidance counselor was Mr. Thompson and he walked Devyn to his first class. He gave him the general location of the classes and tried to put Devyn at ease. "It is never easy starting in a new school," Mr. Thompson said. "It takes time, but I am sure you will do fine." "Thanks," Devyn said. "I appreciate your help." Mr. Thompson left Devyn in his first class. He went through the regular first day routine. He had each of the teachers sign the paper that Mr. Thompson had given him. Only two of them had him stand in front of the class and introduce himself. He kept to himself taking a seat in the back of the room. He tried to be as inconspicuous as he possibly could. Devyn was very happy at the end of the day when he could meet Joe in the parking lot. Joe was picking him up so they could go to the store and pick up whatever supplies Devyn would need after the first day. After this first day, Devyn would be riding the bus into school every day. "How was the first day," Joe asked as Devyn climbed into the truck. "It was okay," Devyn answered. The knot he had carried around in his stomach all day finally loosened and he felt better. "I am glad it went okay," Joe said. The next day Devyn caught the bus. He had to walk down to the main road to pick up the bus, but the walk was not bad. Barkley went with him and then trotted back to the house after he saw Devyn was safely on the bus. Devyn was glad that the dog did not try to follow him to school. The second day was a bit easier than the first. Devyn did not have to stand in front of the class and introduce himself. He could sit in the back and just chill out. A few brave people spoke to him. Two girls came up to him after the biology class and a couple of guys talked to him in PE. He guessed it was a start. He was happy to catch the bus home. He had already started thinking of Joe's place as his. His place was where ever Joe was. He knew in his head he was developing a huge crush on Joe, but he did not know how to stop it. He would gladly move from his bed into Joe's, but he knew that was unlikely to happen. After about four weeks of school, Devyn thought he found his routine. He would get up with Joe in the morning, do a few chores and then take a quick shower and catch the bus. He spent the day in class and was developing a few friendships. There were a couple of guys in his shop class he was drawn to. They kept to themselves. Devyn wondered if they might be gay. He wanted to find out. He did not want to jump their bones, but it would be nice to have some friends he could be himself with. There were a few girls that were definitely interested in him. Unfortunately for Devyn he did not respond to them in anyway. Oh he liked them as friends, but that was it. He had no attraction to them at all. There was one boy in his Biology class that he did find very attractive. The boy had blonde hair that was gelled into spikes. His body was fit and he sported a perfect tan. The guy also had amazing blue eyes. Devyn wondered if it was this boy he was into or the fact that the guy reminded him of Brent. "So what is your deal man?" one of the guys from his shop class asked him one day during lunch. The guy was Dewayne that spoke to him and the other one was named Terry. They were always together. Devyn also thought he could smell smoke on them. There was no smoking on school grounds, but that did not always stop some kids. "Um, what do you mean?" Devyn asked. "I mean why are you here?" Dewayne clarified "I, um, well, my Dad and Mom are having problems and sent me to live with my cousin," there he kept it to the truth and used Joe's story about them being cousins. His folks were having issues...those issues just happened to be with him. "So they kicked you out?" Terry asked. "No," Devyn lied. "They just thought it would be better if I stayed with Joe. "Yeah, so how does nowhere Ville compare to where you come from? "Well, it is definitely a lot smaller," Devyn said. "What did you do in the city for fun?" Dewayne asked. "Oh, you know the usual stuff...hung out with friends mostly and played a few sports. The bell rang then announcing the end of the lunch period. The two guys walked with Devyn to their next class as it was the shop class. Dewayne and Terry began joining Devyn every day for lunch. They were becoming like his only two friends. "There is a party this Saturday night at the martin's ranch," terry told Devyn. "Want to go with us?" "Um, I'll have to check with Joe, but maybe." "Check with Joe?" Dewayne sneered. "He aint your Dad or you Mom. Do you really let him tell you what to do?" "Um, well, he doesn't really..." "Hey if you can go that is cool," Terry said. "If you can't, well we will see you another time." "Can I just let you know tomorrow?" Devyn asked hopefully. "Sure," Terry said. After dinner, Devyn brought up the subject of the party he had been invited too. "A couple of guys at school asked me to come over this weekend," Devyn said. Joe looked into Devyn's eyes. "It is okay if I go isn't it?" Devyn hated asking for permission, but he had no choice in the matter. Joe had not denied him anything yet, so he assumed it would be fine. Joe was reluctant to give his permission. He did not like playing the heavy, but he was worried that Devyn could start sliding back into his old patterns. He had said that the kid would have a clean slate, but Joe could not push the images of Devyn's sick form clutching him as the youth tossed everything he had ever ate. "I guess it will be okay," Joe said. "Will they be picking you up or will you need a ride?" "Um, well, we didn't really cover that. I will let you know." Joe watched as Devyn cleared the dishes from the table. He couldn't help but notice how much healthier Devyn looked now. Devyn's physique had filled out with hard work during the summer. His arms were becoming defined with muscle instead of the slender sticks they were when he had shown up. He had added a few pounds so that you could no longer count his ribs. Devyn's face no longer looked gaunt and he had developed a nice tan. Joe smiled thinking of how the girls must be crazy for the teenager. Joe wished that Devyn had been straight, "it would have made life so much easier for you," Joe thought. Joe rose and moved to the sink. He placed a hand on Devyn's bare bicep. "You are building some muscle here." Joe squeezed Devyn's arm. "Um, yeah these dishes are really heavy," Devyn said surprised by the touch and the comment. "Maybe we should start eating off paper plates?" "No," Joe said chuckling, "but good try. Just let me know if you need a ride to that party. I'll be happy to drop you off and pick you up." "Thanks Joe," Devyn said. · * * * * * Devyn caught up with Dewayne and Terry the next day during lunch. He let them know he was going to go. "Um, can I catch a ride with one of you?" "Sure," Terry said. "I will come by and pick you up." "Great!" The rest of the week passed in a blur. Devyn was actually beginning to look forward to the party. He was going to enjoy hanging out with some kids and having a good time. He was a bit nervous, but that was just due to the unknown. At about 7PM on Saturday, Terry's rusty truck pulled in to the driveway. Devyn hurried out the door and yelled a goodbye to Joe. Joe watched the truck drive back down the road. He noticed that the driver was going too fast. He closed his eyes and gave a silent prayer that Devyn would come home safe and sound. "You ready to have some fun?" Terry asked Devyn. "Sure," Devyn said. "Great!" "Who is going to be at this thing?" Devyn asked. "Oh just some guys and some girls from school. Dewayne's older brother Wally is also going to be there with some of his friends. He is bringing the beer." "Oh," Devyn said. He felt his stomach flip. He had not considered there would be alcohol. Terry pulled up beside an old barn that looked ready to fall in on itself. There were other cars already there. "Come on," Terry said. Devyn followed him into the barn. He recognized only a couple of the kids from school. He did not know the other people. It was warm in the barn and it smelled like hay and cow shit. It was not the kind of party Devyn was use to going to back home. "Here you go," Dewayne said handing each of them a can of beer. "Um, no thanks," Devyn said. "What you don't drink?" Terry said astonished. "I, um, well..." Devyn was trying to find a good reason not to drink the offered beer. "Shit dude, don't be a pussy," Dwayne said. "My brother went through a lot of trouble for the beer. We should at least enjoy it." "Oh, um..." "Go on," terry encourage. "One beer aint going to do anything to you." Devyn believe Terry was right. This one beer would not hurt him. He would just drink it slow and they would lose track of how much he ad and he didn't need to let them know that he had not consumed as much as the others. Devyn opened the beer and took a long drink. It was cold and strangely refreshing. "Good man," Dewayne said. I was hoping you weren't a pussy boy who couldn't handle a few beers." "Um, me a pussy, no," Devyn said. Devyn found himself drinking more than he intended. He lost track as he began feeling the buzz. He ended up talking to one of the girls that had come with Wally. She was older and she was very attractive. Devyn's eyes were drawn to the butterfly tattoo that was just above her right breast. He could only see the tip of its wings and wondered how much of the breast it covered. "Want to go up to the loft," she asked. "Um, sure," Devyn's words were a little slurred from the beer. The girl pulled him up the ladder. He was impressed that is legs didn't betray him as he climbed. They moved to a dark corner of the loft. Devyn could hear others up there. The noises were definitely that of two people screwing. He felt his dick respond to the audio stimulation. He could hear the grunts and moans of the guys better than that of the girls. It was causing him to get more and more excited. "You are new aren't you," she said. "Yes, I, um, just moved here during the summer," Devyn said as she pulled him down on a hay bale and began rubbing his leg. "I thought so," she said her breath blowing across his face. It had the sour smell of beer on it. "How far have you gone with a girl?" "Um, well, um..." "Oh don't tell me you're a virgin?" she said her fingers lowering the zipper of his pants. "No, not that at all," he said. She placed her mouth on his and began kissing. Devyn returned the kiss. He pushed his tongue into her mouth. His hands sliding up to pull the shirt off of her body and he could finally see the full butterfly. It covered the majority of her breast. He leaned down and kissed the tattoo. Before Devyn knew it his pants were down along with his briefs and he was on top of the girl. She was guiding his teen rod into her. She gasped as he entered her. He thrust and slid deeper. "Take it easy hot stuff," she said "It isn't a race." Devyn tried to focus, but his mind was fuzzy. He couldn't believe what he was doing. The angle of the moon had shifted since they had first come into the loft. He could now see one of the other couples in the loft. He could see DeWayne with a girl. His shirt was off and Devyn checked out his strong chest and flat belly. The girl was sucking his rod up and down. His fingers pushing her head up and down his stiff dick. Devyn thrust faster into the girl and he heard her moan. He could feel his balls beginning to churn. He slowed down. He wanted to cum with Dewayne. He watched and Dewayne pulled the girl from his rigid member. And she put her legs around his waist when he moved between them. His pants were off and his firm round ass shown white in the silver moon light. Devyn felt Mindy shiver under him as her climax passed through her. He leaned down and kissed her mouth as she came. He continued thrusting. He broke the kiss in time to watch Dewayne thrusting fast, hard and deep into the girl he was with. His pelvis like a piston thrusting his organ into her. Devyn picked up speed and he was soon matching Dwayne's stroke and thrust. He knew he would not last much longer. Mindy began to climax again. Devyn could just hear the groans of pleasure coming from Dewayne. His deep voice sent Devyn over the edge and Devyn began blasting his seed into Mindy. Jets flew from his turgid member and into the girl he was with. He was so shocked at how powerful his climax was. He fell forward resting as much of his weight as he could on his arms as to not crush Mindy. "You are amazing," she said and kissed his lips. She pushed her tongue into his mouth and teased his tongue. Devyn felt no sexual excitement by her kiss, but he returned it just the same. He continued to kiss and caress her as he watched Dewayne roll off of the girl. His body was glistening with the sweat he had worked up. His dick was already soft and Devyn could see the dark brown pubes that curled around it making a nest for the hot dick to nestle into. Devyn couldn't believe what he had done. He had screwed a girl and watched a friend fucking another girl. He had also drunk more beers than he could count. He was feeling very wobbly as he climbed down the ladder from the loft. He missed the last step and fell on his ass. "There you are," Terry said. "What you been doing man?" "I, um, I was..." "Thanks Devyn," Mindy said. "You were fabulous." She leaned down and pulled his mouth to hers and kissed him again. "I hope we get together again soon." "Well, guess I know what you were doing now," Terry said. "Way to go man. Here, have another beer. You need it after the workout she gave you." Terry handed Devyn the beer. Terry dumped Devyn off back at Joe's place. Devyn stumbled up the walk to the door. He tripped going up the steps but caught himself on the hand rail. He tried to be quiet, but it just seemed to make the noises sound louder. He headed straight for the stairs to his room. "Devyn," Joe said. Joe's voice was firm and commanding. It stopped Devyn in mid-step. Devyn turned. "Oh, hey Joe." The words did not sound as slurred as he feared they would. "I know I did not set a curfew, but do you have any idea what time it is?" "Um, late?" Devyn said. "It is after 3 in the morning." "I, um, lost track of time." "I would say you did," Joe said. Joe stood and walked over to Devyn. He could smell smoke on the boy's clothes and hair. "It smells like there was some smoking going on at the party. "Yeah, a few people had cigarettes. Joe stepped closer. "Did you have a good time?" "Um, yea," he answered. Joe noticed the sour scent of beer on Devyn's breath. "How many beers did you have?" "A few," Devyn answered. "I know I never told you not to drink..." That is right," Devyn interrupted. "You never did and a few beers are not going to hurt me." "Devyn," Joe began his voice mild, "with your history with drugs, I just think it would be better to avoid another addictive substance." "I can handle it," Devyn said. "I am sure that is what you believe and maybe you can. I just don't want to take any chances with your health." "I can take care of myself. I don't need you telling me what to do." "Devyn, calm down." Joe kept his voice calm and level although Devyn's voice was getting louder. "Don't tell me to fucking calm down. I aint going to calm down. You aren't my boss. You aren't even my boyfriend or anything. Just leave me the fuck alone." Devyn," Joe said as the teen turned and went up the stairs to his room. Joe heard him stumble as he climbed the stairs. He listened to make sure Devyn made it to his room. He wondered if he should be more firm with the teen. He just did not know the right thing to do. Devyn threw himself down on the bed. He did not even take off his clothes. He did not know what was wrong with him. Joe was just being a big brother and Devyn had lashed out. He didn't know why. He knew Joe cared for him. Why had he over reacted...he did not understand himself. He dozed off wondering if he should go apologize to Joe.
