DRESDENWORTH MELLODRAMA Volume: ONE
Earlier...
Lance is sitting next to Helena. The two friends stare at meadows
lake, wondering when they will see each other again. "I can't believe that
you have to move so suddenly, Lance" Helena said hoping her best friend
Lance wouldn't have to leave Melbrooks and Melbrooks high all together. "I
know but there is nothing I can do Helena, my father insists on taking this
job." Helena took a look at Lance. Lance couldn't help but notice the way
her eyes were glowing. He knew something was on her mind. She was deeply
concerned, and if that wasn't enough, she was going to make sure Lance know
what was on her mind.
"Lance, I researched the town of Dresdenworth and do you realize
the kind of people that live there?" asked Helena. Lance paused for a
second pondering Helena's question. "I guess people with a little bit of
money happen to reside in Dresdenworth so what?" answered Lance. "Lance, I
just want you to not have to worry about fitting in" Helena stated.
Lance: I've never had a problem fitting in
Helena: I'm not saying you ever did
Lance: Then what do you mean?
Helena: All I'm saying is that the school you will be attending might be
full of brats and social climbers.
Lance: Well I won't be hurt if I don't fit in.
Helena: By the way I also checked and there isn't a company by the name of
the WELLINGTON CIRLCLE in Dresdenworth.
Lance: What do you mean?
Helena: What I mean is, that your father may be hiding something from you.
Lance: My father would never do such a thing.
Helena: Look Lance all I am saying is that there's more to this move than
meets the eye and you should be cautious of that.
Lance: You aren't happy for me are you?
Helena looks at Lance and then hugs him, he hugs her back. There are tears
in her eyes.
Helena: I am so happy for you but some things are just a bit questionable
and as your best frined I worry about you.
Lance: Well I'm going to be phoning you everyday and we will keep n touch
forever and ever.
Helena smiles as she sees her best friend walk away. Helena was able to
hide the fact that she was in love with him, she knew he was gay and it was
impossible but she still couldn't help but feel that way.
Lance sits in the passenger's side to Lance' father's new car. Its
been over a hundred miles and suddenly there is a sign that reads
Dresdenworth. Lance's father takes the gloomy road. There are many trees
and lamps and everything seems desolate. There are many extremely large
residences with large gates. "The architecture to these homes is one of a
kind, most of them were designed by Nicholas Vietemus" Lance's father said
breaking the silence.
"Well its really something" said Lance admiring the architecture.
"I think you are going to like it here Lance," Phillip was Lance's father's
name. Phillip was suddenly growing white hair and he was not proud but then
again he still had a full head of hair. Lance' eyes resembled
Phillips. They were both large and hazel and there was always mystery
behind them, a real attractive feature they both shared. Lance on the other
hand had really dark black hair unlike his father's hair which was
brown. They were both skinny and somewhat athletic and of average
height. They were also on the pale side.
At age 18 and a senior in high school Lance was very attractive,
especially to the same sex. He had never had a boyfriend but he had had his
share of boy encounters. Lance was not a true believer of love, but soon
enough love itself would convert him.
Finally the car came to a stop. "What are we doing here dad?"
asked Lance. Well son this is our new home, his father responded . Lance
couldn't believe his eyes. The house before him was too opulent, and too
large to possibly belong to him and his father. "Dad how is this possible?
Suddenly you're driving a one hundred thousand dollar car and now you're
telling me that this mansion belongs to us?" Lance needed answers. How
could all of this be possible, he had no idea how his dad could suddenly
afford all of these luxury properties.
Lance thought about what Helena had said. "Dad how do you have
the money to afford all of this?" he asked. "I got a large sum of money
with the contract I signed with my new position at Wellington Circle, from
now on I want us to live life to the fullest!" Lance' father exclaimed.
The day was grey and there was a lonesome eerie feeling to this
place Lance was now a resident of. "I promise you are going to love it here
in Dresdenworth," said a very promising Phillip. Lance took a second to
process everything. Things had happened too quickly for Lance. "Am I
dreaming all of this?" Lance wondered. Just a few hours ago Lance had his
entire life back in the normal town of Melbrooks.
"Well, on Monday you start school here, so right now we need to get
settled in, there are plenty of rooms in this house Lance so go ahead and
pick which ever one you prefer to call yours. Lance was finally feeling a
little grip on reality and a bit of joy. "Dad, so I guess we are rich now?"
Lance asked curiously. "That depends on your definition of rich," Lance'
father replied. He couldn't tell what his father meant by that but with his
new home assumptions could be made.
Phillip handed his son a large key. "You first," he said. Lance
took the key and headed to the doorstep. Soon after he opened the very tall
door that lead to the secluded residence on Dresdenworth's Merritt
Avenue. Lance fell back out of reality when he entered the fully furnished,
fully decorated home. "Wow those movers and interior decorators are pretty
quick" said Phillip. "I guess they are" Laughed Lance.
Moments later Lance counted a total of 6 rooms and 7 restrooms,
3 Living rooms, 1 Library, 1 large kitchen, 2 dining rooms, 1 pool and a
terrace out of this world. "Is all of this necessary dad?" asked
Lance. "Well unfortunately it was the smallest home I could find here on
sale at Dresdenworth." replied Phillip. "Smallest?" Lance laughed. "Have
you found your room yet by the way?" Phillip asked. "Yes, I have its going
to be the one at the very end to the right side on the second floor" he
said.
"Well what now?" Lance asked wondering what his life would
consist of now that he had no friends. "Well we have reservations in one of
the hottest restaurants in town.
Lance: What's the name ?
Phillip: Steak Nine
