Another hour up the road and they were well into the
Water Gap area. To thwart their plans of stopping, a
light drizzle adhered to the dash window.

"Oh well, there goes our picnic table orgy!" Kyle
says.

"Maybe on the way back."

"Way back? Who says you're coming with me."

"Aren't I? I thought that was our plans?"

"Frankly, Alex, since this incident with Knapp, I'm
not sure I want to go back to Asbury Park."

"So, what will you do?"

"Go back to New York. Get a job somewhere for the
summer."

"Maybe I can come back to New York with you?"

"Let's think about it. I'll get a room at a motel for
a week and we can decide."

"You could, unless you want to sleep on a mattress in
our basement?"

"Or you could stay with me at the motel. Lake Quinn
does have one doesn't it?"

"Only two. One for those in want of sex, who want to
hide it and the other is one I wouldn't have enough if
I saved for a month to pay for."

"I'll take the latter."

Alex smiled, knowing Kyle could very well afford it.

"Welcome to Pennsylvania," Alex said, out of the blue.

"How far to Lake Quinn?"

"Isn't it breathtaking?"

"Yeah. How far to Lake Quinn?"

"It's so open."

"I know. How far to Lake Quinn?"

"Wait. What did you ask?"

"You know damn well what I asked, stoopid!"

Alex laughed his ass off, laughter encouraging enough
to incite Kyle to do the same!

"What about your fancy GPS?"

"I thought you knew the way."

"I do."

"So?"

"Keep going straight. I bet I can do a better job than
your fancy gadget."

"Okay. I'll set the direction and you tell me it,
without looking. What town is it near?"

"Set it for the town of McMichaels."

"Mc-who?"

"Michaels... McMichaels.. Lake Quinn is west of
there."

Kyle went about punching in the info.

"No fair peeking."

"I told you I don't have to peek. I know the way. But
first I'm putting my shirt on. It's getting chilly in
here."

"Want some heat?"

"Yeah, but not the kind the car can give me!" Alex
says.

"Ha.. ha.." Kyle says, sarcastically.

They go for another forty-five minutes. Alex has dozed
off.

"Hey! Wake up!" Kyle shakes his shoulder.

"What?"

"What? You tell me."

"Oh, are we near Tannersville?"

"Just passed the sign."

"Okay. Get off and follow Route 715 west. That'll take
us into McMichaels."

"I can't wait to see the juice factory!"

"We won't be going by it. Hey Kyle?"

"What?"

"You know we have to stop in and see mom."

"I figured so."

"Plus, I wonder how Devon made out. Can we stop by his
house?"

"Sure. Anybody else you want to visit?"

"Yeah. How about the Burger Chef?"

"Ugh. I think I'm all burger-ed out!"

"Just kidding."

"Yeah. We should both get dressed up and...."

"Oh no!"

"Whatsamatter?" Kyle asks.

"I left my tux hanging in the employees lounge at
Eden. I set it down while you got two cups of coffee!"

"When did you need to get it back?"

"By tomorrow or I own it!"

"Looks like you own it."

"Easy for you to say. Kyle, I don't have the money for
a tuxedo!"

"What about the cash from the briefs?"

"I have it, but..."

"What? You can trust me."

"I know I can... any money I had leftover I was going
to give to mom."

"Well then..." Kyle jokes, slapping Alex in the gut,
"it looks like you're getting a tux for your
birthday!"

"No."

"No? What choice do you have?"

Alex starts laughing.

"What?"

"Your GPS just missed the turn off for 715. We're
headed for Sullivan's Trail!"

"Shit! How do I get back?"

"It's too narrow here. You can make the jughandle at
the state park."

"Another one?"

"Yeah. We're in the Poconos you know?"

"No, I didn't know. How would a city boy know
something like that?"

"You always lived in the city."

"Well, `a' city."

"Here's the jughandle. Don't miss it."

"Jughandle, huh?"

"Yeah. And don't ask me how it got it's name!"

They make the jughandle, head back east, then catch
the turnoff for 715.

"From here it's smooth sailing," Alex tells him.

"Sailing. Ever been?"

"Once."

"On Lake Quinn?"

In hillbilly talk, Alex says, "There ain't no lake in
Lake Quinn."

"Oh, then how did it get it's name?"

"It dried up."

"Dried up?"

"Yeah, then they filled it in, but nobody'll buy the
lots. Afraid their house will sink right in. People
say there's natural springs all around the area."

"Then it makes sense not to invest. Where do you live?
Near an apple orchard?"

"Nope. We ain't got no apple trees in Lake Quinn,
neither."

"Ain't got none, huh?"

"Nope." Alex smiles.

With no one on the road, Kyle puts his foot on the
brake.

"C'mere."

Right there, in the middle of the road, Kyle puckers
up and gives Alex a kiss.

"Mmmm... can't wait ta git that treatment tonight at
that thar fancy hotel!"

"Hotel? I thought it was a motel?"

"Nope. The Radisson's a hotel."

"Oh you didn't tell me it was a Radisson! Cool!"

"Why?"

"My father has an expense account with Radisson."

"Which translates?"

"The best room, with the `works'!"

"Kyle, it doesn't have to be the most expensive."

"I know it doesn't, but.... Okay. We'll take the
second most expensive."

"If you don't take your foot off the brake, we'll
never get there!"

"Kiss, first!"

After a peck on the lips, the foot comes off the
brake. Once again they are on their way.

"Okay, turn off 715 onto Pocono Road."

"That's not what the GPS says!"

"Will you turn that thing off?"

Smiling, Kyle presses a coupla buttons.

"To the left over there, is
dried-up-Lake-Quinn-filled-in-that nobody wants to
buy."

"Interesting."

"Over there is the town auto center."

"Interesting. No Walmarts?"

"Not yet. Hee hee... if it tries to come into town,
they'll sell them the Lake Quinn property!"

"Cruel, but cool!"

"See the next left?"

"I turn there?"

"Nope. Up there is Orchard Terrace, where I live, but
the Radisson is straight ahead."

Soon they enter the `city' part of Lake Quinn,
composed of a bank, a bakery, food shop and other
small, mom & pop stores.

"There! On your left," Alex guides him.

"Aha! The almighty Radisson!"

Kyle turns the jeep into the spacious plaza, housing
the elegant hotel. They pull right up to the valet.

"Hi Rick!"

"Alex. How you doing?"

"Good. Got yourself a job, eh?" Alex questions Rick.

"Yeah and the tips are..." he looks at Kyle, "okay."

"Rick, this is my..." Alex quickly analyzes the
encounter, "my boyfriend, Kyle."

"Nice to meet you, Kyle. Boyfriend, eh?"

"Right."

"Heard you and Greg broke the mold at the senior
prom?"

"I guess you could call it that, but so did Devon and
Carlos."

"Speaking of which," Rick soft-spoken addresses the
subject, "I heard Devon is seeing this older guy."

"Is that so?" Alex looks to Kyle and smiles.

"Why, you know something?"

"Is he Italian?" Rick asks.

"I would say so."

"Muscular?"

"Definitely. You can take a look for yourself."

"He's staying here?"

"Yup and Devon's with him."

Kyle sits back, taking in the whole conversation.

"What do you think about that, Kyle?" Alex asks.

"About what?"

"Devon and Dominic."

"Can I park your jeep for you?" Rick asks.

"Sure."

Loading up a cart, the bellhop wheels the cart to the
front desk.

"I don't know what to make of Dominic and Devon. I
guess the drive was long enough for them to get
acquainted."

"Guess so. We should find out what room they're in."

Suddenly, there's a shout across the room, "Alex!"

"Devon," Kyle and Alex say at the same time, with the
sound of his voice.

"Devon, what are you doing here?" Alex asks.

"Might I ask you the same?" Devon questions Alex, as
they give each other a friendly hug.

Standing in line, Kyle waited for a hug. Soon Alex
felt a tapping on his shoulder, as if being cut in for
a dance.

"Dominic figured, with the weather the way it is, he
would stick around until tomorrow," Devon filled them
in.

"And you didn't go home?" Alex asked.

"I did already. Introduced Dominic to my folks.
Everything's cool."

"Cool? Like how?"

Standing there, smiling, Devon wished the conversation
would advance towards filling the two in.

"Strangest thing, all the way up here, from Asbury
Park, Dom and I got to talking..."

"Dom?"

"Yeah. Dom was talking about things he liked to do and
I began to get this feeling."

"Feeling?"

"At first it was me, liking the same things, like
miniature golf, going to the movies, tastes of
music..."

"I wonder where this is going?" Kyle said,
facetiously.

"Yeah, well when we stopped at a Burger Chef, we both
got to ordering the same thing, uncanny, huh?"

"This wouldn't happen to be the Burger Chef in
Livingston, would it?"

"Where?"

"Never mind," Kyle said, apparently off course!

"Anyway, we..."

"Hey guys!"

Kyle got first dibs in this time, hugging Dominic.

"Hey Dominic."

After the round of hugs, Dominic informed the two,
"We're on our way to the exercise room. When you get
settled, come on down to the basement."

"Maybe," Alex said.

Devon remarks, "Oh c'mon. You can save that juicy
stuff for later!"

It made everybody laugh, even the bellhop, whom stood
by listening to every word.

"We gotta check in. Then maybe."

"Well," Devon says, "if you don't make it down to the
exercise room, in an hour we'll be in the pool!"

At least Kyle and Alex were given a choice, which made
life simpler! Devon and dominic ran along with their
plans, as the other two went to register. Things went
through nice'n'easy, after Kyle mentioned his father's
name, Keith Dryfiss, prompting the desk clerk to spin
into motion the quick evacuation from the lobby, to
the best room in the hotel.

"You must have an important father," the bellboy
struck up conversation.

"He runs an important business," Kyle told the young
bellhop.

"Well, if you need anything, pick up the phone and ask
for Raj. That's me!"

"Anything?" Alex asks.

Kyle nudged Alex in the ribs, even though Alex wasn't
thinking along `those' lines.

"Sure, if..." the bellhop suddenly realizes why Alex
got the poke. "Never mind."

"Are you gay?" Alex took the chance of asking.

Smiling, yet with a blush, Raj answers, "Yeah, I swing
that way."

"But you don't live in Lake Quinn, do you?"

"I live at the dorm, but I'm not from this area. You
see, I wanted to get out of the city and into a
college `out in the country'."

"You can't get much more `country' than this," Kyle
notes.

"I like going to school here. What about you?" Raj
directs to Alex.

"I grew up around here, but I'm going to college in
New York."

"The city?"

"Yeah. Is that where you're from, Raj?"

"No," he answers, "Pittsburgh... here's your floor."

"No way," Alex states, as the elevator opens up upon
the room, instead of a hallway.

"Cool," Kyle remarks, "the penthouse!"

"Wow!"

Stepping from the elevator, Alex looks straight ahead,
through large panes of glass.

"I never saw Lake Quinn from this far up!"

"It is beautiful," Kyle says.

Raj, who's seen the view numerous times over, rolls
their baggage cart across the floor, mooring it to the
side of the elevator's west side.

Asking if there will be anything else, Kyle states,
`no', slipping his hand in his pocket, drawing out a
greenback and pasting it to Raj's hand, saying, "Thank
you."

After the elevator doors close behind Raj, Alex says,
"You slipped him a twenty?"

"Um, actually I think a five was inside it, from the
Burger Chef change."

"Still, a twenty-five dollar tip?"

"It's one way of getting immediate service the next
time, plus anything else we need."

"Like condoms?" Alex says, in jest.

After the laugh, Alex goes back to the plate glass,
eyeing up the countryside.

"This is real awesome."

Behind him, Kyle stands, then places his arms over
Alex's shoulders, bear hugging him, chest to back,
nuzzling up to his ear, kissing him on the neck.
Smiling, Alex pirouettes, engaging in a body-hug. They
begin kissing, which makes them forget all about
Devon's and Dominic's offer.

Kyle slips his hands under Alex's tee shirt and lifts
it up, off over his head, saying, "I love you."

More than a whim, Alex, serious and all, replies, "I
love you too."

"Happy?"

"Yeah, I am."

"So you like the room?" Kyle poses.

"I like you better!"

It makes Kyle giggle. Then, looking at the chain
around Alex's neck, Kyle reaches down and licks over
it with his tongue.

"You know, I've been thinking about that."

"Your chain?"

"No. The `S'."

"What about it, Alex?"

"I don't think it's going to go over so big with coach
and the swim team competition."

"So, what do you want to do about it?"

"I wonder..."

"Yeah?"

"I wonder how erotic it could be for you, if you
shaved my chest and stomach?"

"Erotic?"

Kyle then proceeded to laugh out loud.

"What?"

"Now that you mention it, I'm getting a tingling
sensation, down there," he looks.

Sure enough, Kyle is tenting his shorts.

"Then you'll do it?"

"Sure. When?"

"Like right now?"

"Start with a hot shower?"

"Mmmmm," says Alex, smiling.

Arriving at point of destination, Alex strips down and
turns the shower on, evening out the temperatures.
Kyle is checking for all the necessary equipment.

"I don't believe they have these cheap, plastic
things."

"You'll go through five of them on my chest!"

"Yeah," says Kyle, thinking. "What we need is to shear
off the hair first, then shave the stubble."

"Is this one of the circumstances where your tip comes
in handy?"

"Exactly what I've been thinking!"

The two walk out of the jon, Alex throwing a towel
around his waist.

"Nobody can see you up here, from down there," Kyle
cues Alex in.

"Just the same, you never know."

Kyle reaches out, grabs the towel at Alex's waistline
and rips it off.

"He-aaaaaaaaaaaay!"

Laughing, he runs around the room, with the remote
phone in hand, Alex on the chase.

"Hold it! Hold it!"

Placing his hand on Alex's hairy chest, he feels it
expand and contract with breaths of air.

"Room service? Yeah, can you send Raj up with a
haircutting kit and double-edged razor?"

Kyle waits.

"Yeah and send extra blades. Okay. Thanks."

"What'd they say?"

"Nothing other than give them ten minutes."

"Forget our shower, we'd still be in it."

"Good point, Alex."

Kyle clicks a button on the phone and presses redial.

"Hello? Yes it is...have Raj walk right in. Great.
Thanks."

"Didn't they ask you why?"

"It's what you'll find out in these fancy outfits.
They give you what you want and know it's none of
their business why," Kyle explains.

"So, Raj is going to walk right into our hotel room?"

"Right."

"Hmm..."

"Why?"

"Well, wouldn't it be better if he left everything in
the jon, on the vanity?"

"Alex Nouguet!"

"What? I'm only being practical. Why? What'd you
think, Kyle?"

"Never mind what I thought."

"Ooooooh. I get it. You thought I was trying to get
Raj in the shower with us."

"Nooooo," Kyle said, even though it was the plain
truth!

He didn't fool Alex for one bit.

"Oh yes. I know you like the back of my hand."

Kyle holds up Kyle's hand, hiding the boney side from
him.

"How many marks on the back of your hand?"

"How am I supposed to know. I never counted!"

Alex swipes his hand away from Kyle, saying, "Besides,
I bet Raj isn't even that type of guy."

"He said call him for anything."

"Yeah, but he wasn't meaning personal stuff like
you're thinking. He meant stuff like... like the razor
and kit. Oh, by the way, did you remember the shaving
cream, Kyle?"

"I knew I forgot something."

Kyle picks up the phone, clicks it on, pressing
redial.

"Hello? Oh he is? No. No complaints. Never mind."
Then, to Alex, he says, "Raj is on his way!"

"What? With me like this?"

"I'm sure Raj has seen a naked jock before."

"Forget it. I'm getting in the shower."

As soon as Kyle hears the elevator rumble, he gets a
wicked idea. Ditching his shorts, sneakers and socks,
he hightails it towards the jon.
