Subject: Heart Breaking Love installment one
I knew you were trouble when you walked in. Yeah, maybe a little dorky. But
Taylor swift just worded it so perfectly. Of course, the first time I saw
him I didn't really think that. I'd like to say that I did, but I'm going
to be honest. I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Aiden. At the
time of the story, I was 15 years old. I'd like to say I was hunky,
confident, and drop dead gorgeous. Unfortunately, I vowed to tell the
truth. I was actually chunky (not in a "Help I can't roll myself off the
bed!", more like "Omigod, I just did a mile in 12 minutes and I feel like
dying"), self-conscious, and had a deep rooted hated of myself. I liked
drugs. Alcohol was never really my poison. And by 15, I'd only actually had
sex once. To say the least, it was bad. It was so bad, it put me off for a
while. Until I met Beau that is (don't worry, you'll find out about him
later). Besides being chunky, I had pale peach skin, dirty/curly blonde
hair, glasses, and a relatively smooth body. Typically, much to my mother's
distaste, I'd wear a tee shirt with some sort of skull design and sweat
pants. I really didn't like wearing jeans. They're to restricting in
movement. Oh, and I have green eyes. Not piercing, but deep.
That's enough of me, I'm sure you'd like to hear more about Beau. Now he's
the real hunk. Standing at 6' 5" (seven inches taller than me), with
perfect black hair, light blue eyes, and the tan of all tans. In contrast
to my "ghetto-Ish" style of wear, he wore solid color tees and jeans. For a
macho man, he sure had a lot of shoes. Cowboy boots among his favorites. He
was from Louisiana, but learned and adopted southern California slang
pretty quickly. He was a year older, a junior.
The first time Beau and I met was in August. I was up at noon and went out
to my garden to check up on my herbs. I know what you're thinking, herbs?
You mean weed, right? Living in socal and admitting to liking drugs... But
nah, I swear. Just some good ol' witchy herbs. Take that as you will. I
took with me a large cup of water. They had only recently germinated and
didn't need a gallon. As soon as I came out onto my porch and turned to
walk down to my little garden, I saw him. Yes, Beau. He wore nothing but
some plaid boxers, giving me excellent view of his hard abs. He sat on a
chair of the porch belonging to the house next door. The family living
there before had moved away over a month ago. I was a bit surprised the
owners had got it rented out so quickly again. Of course, spending my
entire summer in my room, I never saw them move in.
Beau wore a hat with it covering his eyes. Using all my will power, I tore
my eyes away from him and tended to my herbs. As I was walking back into my
house, I heard a deep, manly voice shout.
"Hey!"
I spun around and saw him up abs stretching. He wore a devilish grin
that melted my heart and made my knees shake.
"H-hi, " I managed to croak out. I walked up to the fence dividing
our properties and waited for him to come too.
"I'm Beau, " he said. "Your new neighbor. I just moved here from a
Louisiana"
"I'm Aiden."
He waited for a few seconds. I couldn't think of anything more to say
though! His eyes just captivated me.
"Have you always lived here?" Beau asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah... I've always lived here. Never even left the state."
"Are the people around here nice? I'm not gonna get shot am I?"
I giggled. Then said seriously,"Only if you don't piss off..." I
pointed to several houses, "... The people who live there, there, and
especially them. They got busted for a load of drugs last year."
"oh wow. I thought my friends were kidding when they told not to get
shot."
"It's really only this area. Very ghetto, believe me, " I laughed.
Beau looked at me for a second. I couldn't tell what he what he was
thinking.
"so what's a cute white boy like you living in the slums?"
"Well, I'm not even actually white. Don't ask how my skin turned
out so pale, but my dad is full Mexican and my mom is half German and half
native American."
"Seriously?! Damn man."
"You know, I could say the same thing about you." He gave me a
puzzled look then understood my meaning.
"My dad finally divorced my mom. He got sole custody of me and
moved us far away. Unfortunately, the move and the legal fees were pretty
high. This place is cheap. "
"oh...." Damn, there comes the awkward silence. Thankfully, he
broke it.
"So, who so you live with?" He smiled again, making me spend
another few seconds tho reorganize my thoughts.
"I live alone."I could see he was about to ask why, soI just
jumped into the story.
"About two years ago, Christmas eve, my grandma got real sick.
She had to go to the hospital. My mom assigned me grandpa duty. I moved
from their house to this place, my grandparent's. He had cancer and
Alzheimer's, so he couldn't always be home alone in case something bad
happened. The day my grandma got back, he went in to the hospital. He
didn't come out..." I had tears in my eyes then. I remembered that day so
clearly, especially... "I saw him pass. Then, I stayed cause my grandma had
been in the hospital so long she couldn't walk anymore. Two months later,
she went too. I never went back to my old room. I just stayed here. " By
the time I finished my story, I had some tears welled up. I didn't let them
fall. Come on Aiden, show no emotion!
"I'm sorry," Beau said. "uh, sooo your parents don't come around?"
"No, they do. Usually in the morning before school and noon during
summer. In fact, that's them coming right now."
My parents had just driven up the drive way and started to park
the car. Beau mumbled a good bye and quickly went back inside. Strange.
I made my way across the yard and got to car right as my mom slid out.
She was a short and fat woman. In her mid fifties, her hair had taken on
quite a bit of grey though her face made her look thirty Ish. My dad came
out of the passenger seat. He had a small white beard, a beer belly, and
brown skin. Amazing I came out fair. I greeted and kissed both of them. I
assured my mother I was not hungry then went to my room. They did whatever
it is they do during the day. I honestly never bothered to hang out with
then or asked what they actually do. They never really interested me. Not
to say that I didn't love them, but like must teens, the last thing I
wanted to do was spend my day with my mom. So, I opted for reading,
listening to music, and sleeping the day away. Just as I was slipping back
into the second nap of the day, my mom knocked on my door.
"Mijo (in case you're unfamiliar with affectionate Spanish, it
means something to the effect of "Honey" but for boys), there's a boy here
to see you."
A boy? Maybe she meant Sydney, my butchy lesbian friend. Did she
even know where I lived?
"Ok mama." I opened the door and shuffled down the hall into the
livingroom. Lo and behold, it was a boy. Beau.
"Hi!" He said excitedly. "I was thinking if maybe you'd want to go
do something later."
My mom raised an eye brow. I quickly explained that he had just
moved from Louisiana and thus did not have any friends yet.
"Ohhhh. Well you two have fun.".just like she walked away.
"So uh, What'd you have in mind?" I asked him. Sex? Drugs? Both?
"Maybe a movie? I was thinking of the new Insidious. It looks
pretty cool." He had something in his eyes. A glimmer of hope? For what, I
wonder?
"sounds good,"I said smiling. Truth be told, that was a lie.
The first one terrified me. Maybe I'll get to hold on to his strong arms.
Hehehe...
"Just let me get decent and grab money." I turned to go but he
grabbed my hand. Ohhhh my...
"No,"he said firmly. "I pay."
"Ok..." I felt a little like a child. You just couldn't argue
with him. In the quickest dash I'd ever done, I foot dressed brushed my
hair and teeth and shoved my phone and keys into my pockets. I put on some
cherry chapstick and shoved that in my pocket too. I was all ready. I made
sure my mom knew and then left with Beau. I gave directions to the Plaza
Bonita mall. I loved the AMC theater here. Cheap and nice. He bought the
tickets, but we still had some time to kill. It was quickly getting dark
outside, perfect for going to the movies. In my mind, the perfect time for
movie theaters is at night. I don't know how to explain it.
"So. What do you want to do? You know this place better than I
do."
God I loved his accent.
"Let's go to It's Sugar. We can get a lot of good candy for a
reasonable price."
"Sounds good."
I led him practically by his hand to the little shop. He opened the
door for me. What a gentleman! He's hot, nice, has a sexy accent... I could
just fall so hard for him. At the time I didn't know it, but I already had
begun to do just that. He just pulled me in, in to his charming Web...
By the time we left the shop, the movie was due to begin any
minute. Thankfully, the candy shop wasn't too far away from the theater so
we were able to make it before the movie began. I was a little
apprehensive. We sat in the back, close to the corner but not exactly
there. I fidgeted a little when the movie finally started. I expected it to
terrify me and it didn't disappoint. Half way through I grabbed onto Beau's
muscular arm to my right. He didn't make a move to push me away. Instead,
he moved his lips close to my ear. Feeling his hot breath my on neck, he
whispered,
"It's okay if you're scared... I don't mind."
"Thanks..." I said gratefully. Eventually, the movie ended.
I had spent nearly the entire time glued to Beau's arm. He made me feel
safe even though I know no real danger was posed. I checked my phone as we
walked out of the mall. Already 10:30. How time flies! We got into his car
and he began the drive home. The whole way was filled with conversation. We
asked questions about each other, mundane and esoteric alike. Eventually,
he got to joking about my fright.
"You held on to me so tightly I thought my arm might come off!"
"The movie was scary!" I protested. "I can't help it. Besides,
you made me feel safe..."
A few minutes of silence. Finally, he spoke.
"Are you a virgin, Aiden?"
I turned my head away. I can't explain why, but I felt
embarrassed. My face felt red.
"It's okay if you are!" He said quickly.
"I'm not."
"What was her name?"
"HIS name was Luke."
Another minute of silence. This time I broke the silence.
"Um... Yeah. I'm gay. I hope that doesn't make you... You know....
uncomfortable."
He pulled up in front of my house. From the empty drive way, I
could my parents had already left. It was ten thirty, they were probably
watching their soap operas. We sat in uncomfortable silence for a minute.
"So... um...." I began. "Thanks, you know, for the tickets. And
candy. And all..."
I was about to get out of the car when Beau suddenly pulled me back. At
first, I thought I was going to get beat up. But then, he put his lips on
mine. They felt so... Warm. Warm and dominant. He let his tongue graze my
teeth before pulling away. I smiled weakly and he gave me that grin. My
heart melted just a little. Okay... Like a whole lot!
"Have a good night,"He said.
"uh huh... You too Beau."
I got out of the car and into my house. I went straight to my room and
jumped onto my bed. He kissed me! Hr really kissed me! I was feeling so..
Ecstatic. Like I was higher than a kite on cloud nine. We, Beau and I, went
out on the town a few more times before summer ended. We drove to the mall
near my high school, where he would also be attending, and I introduced him
to all my friends. Of course, I told my bestie Sam about the kiss. She eyed
him the entire time and would raise both her eyebrows at me when she
thought he wasn't looking. But, there were no more kisses. Not even a
single word about the one he gave me. I wanted to talk about it but the
time never seemed right. Eventually, I gave up trying. School was just
around the corner. My parents and I went on mad shopping sprees, scrambling
for all the best deals on crap for school. It would be the first day of my
sophmore year tomorrow and I was very excited. Beau had left for some sort
of family thing in Louisiana, but he said he'd come back tonight. It was
already 11:00... he texted me earlier saying he couldn't wait to see me.
What did that mean? I had hoped to talk to him about it, maybe even finally
bring up the kiss weeks earlier. But it was late and could wait till
morning. I slipped into bed and pulled the covers over me. As I sunk into
dream land, I thought about Beau and how his lips felt on mine...
