highway heaven     final chapter


Nick woke about 11:00 in the morning and looked over to see Mike sleeping
soundly. He leaned over and kissed him lightly on the cheek. Nick laid
there and thought back to all the things that he had done in his 17 years
and thinking about his 18th birthday in two weeks.  He realized that he was
addicted to Mike and that was all he wanted.

Mike started to stir and rolled over and draped his arm over Nick. He was
dreaming about a wonderful life that the two of them would be sharing. He
never wanted to leave Nick.

Nick laid there waiting for Mike to wake, He was ready for a morning of
rest and relaxation just holding Mike. Things had happened very fast and
Nick was moving out at the end of the month and already had an apartment
set to rent and was hoping that he could convince Mike to move in.  Nick
had planned on that this morning when Mike woke.

Mike opened his eyes and looked up at Nick and said " Good morning " I hope
that you slept as well as I did.

Nick said " with you by my side in bed how could I not sleep well."

Mike said I wish I could wake up every morning next to you. That would be
my dream come true. I have been dreaming of one day living with you and
sharing your bed every night.

Nick wrapped him in his arms and said " I think that I can Make your dream
come true "

Mike asked " How could you do that? "

Nick said " a week from friday I will be 18 and I have an apartment ready
for me to move in. I would be very happy if you would move in with me.

Mike said " his dad would most likely say no " unless of course I was to
tell him I was gay, Then he would probably throw me out.

Nick said you do whatever you have to do But I will take you in and you
will never want for anything. My grandfather left me a lot of money and I
could buy a house right now but going to school the apartment would be
better.

Mike said " I will move in with you and I don't care what my dad says.  "

Nick said to Mike " Are you sure you won't get tired of me and want someone
else? "

Mike smiled and said " I have been in love with you since I was a Freshman
"

Nick said " then I guess it is you and me against the world "

Mike looked at Nick and said " as long as I have you I will be very happy "

Nick' birthday came very quickly and the night of his party, He made sure
that everyone knew that he was gay and was through living like a scared
child. People that did not like him because he was gay, then he did not
need them, His friends would accept him or they were not his true
friends. His Mom and dad were surprised but said nothing. His friends just
looked stunned. Then he followed that be saying that he was in love with
Mike and hugged him in front of everyone.

Mike was shocked and had a very pleasant look on his face.

Nick's mom walked up to Mike and said " make sure you take care of my Boy "

Mike looked at her and Said " Mom I will do everything I can to make him
happy, I Promise "

Mom looked at Mike aND SAID " that is all a mom can hope for.

The next morning Nick woke early and got up and let Mike sleep. He went
down stairs and was talking to his mom and dad. Told them that he planned
to continue going to school and that he already had a job lined up.  Then
he stood and went back upstairs and woke Mike and told him " To get ready
to move into their new home.

Mike jumped out of bed hugged Nick and said " I am so happy. "

Nick asked " how happy is that "

Mike smiled and wiggled his eye brows and said " Wait till tonight and you
will see "

They loaded Nick's car with boxes and made several trips. The third time
they were getting ready to leave One Of Mikes friends showed up with a
pickup and asked if they needed any help.

Mike was thrilled that the one person he least expected was one only one
that came by to help. Mike told him " that they could really use his help "

They finished moving everything by 8:00 that evening and ask his friend if
he wanted to stay for pizza, His friend said Sure. They ate, his friend
left and Mike and Nick proceeded to set up all the furniture and
straightened up the apartment. They finished by midnight and both boys were
as tired as they could be.

Nick said " do you mind if we postpone what you had in mind until tomorrow?
"

Mike said " we have our own place so we can do whatever we want whenever we
want, " all I know is that I want to make sure that I keep you happy and
satisfied.

Nick said " with what you have hidden in your shorts I could never not be
satisfied, You are all I will need and want.

Mike looked at Nick and smiled and said " I have only one thing I need to
do and that is to keep you " He walked over to Nick and kissed him on the
lips and said " I will love you till the day I die "

Nick returned the kiss and said " You are all I want out of life. "

The both got up and headed for the bedroom and got undressed turned out the
light and got in bed, They snuggled up next to each other and kiss and said
" good night " And they both drifted off to sleep. They both knew that the
next morning they would wake to the beginning of the rest of their lives,
Their lives were theirs to live and the sky was the limit.
