Author's Note: Apologies for the delay in posting this chapter. There has
been a death in the family which has made concentrating on writing
difficult. Hopefully the next will be out soon. This is the fourth chapter
of House Party. It is highly recommended you read the first two parts,
well, first. :) Also, I believe there was a mistake in the last author's
note when I said the last installment was Chapter 3 of Lunchroom Fun, my
other story. Hopefully no one was too confused.

As usual, any comments or suggestions are welcome, and a big thank you to
all those who have commented on past submissions or made suggestions for
future ones, they are all appreciated.

House Party - Chapter 4

Bowfield Park was one of the only parks in the area not favoured by
drug users in the small hours of the morning. Bright lights illuminated
swings, seesaw, slides and various play equipment. Two benches sat side by
side in the middle of the park, with a tall, 'tennis court' style light
between them, casting harsh electric luminescence on the figure of a
teenaged boy who sat on top of one of the tables. The night was a cool, and
the boy wore a light jacket over loose shirt and jeans.

Aaron checked his watch. He was a few minutes early to the park, and
Brad had yet to arrive.

It's 2 in the morning and I feel like I need sunglasses, he thought
dryly, turning his back to the glaring light.

Slowly, he exhaled. He was uncharacteristically nervous, and he
didn't know why. It wasn't being out this late that made him nervous. It
wasn't the thought of his parents discovering he had snuck out. The more he
thought about it, the more it seemed to him like he was nervous about
seeing Brad.

Aaron shook his head. He had always been quite confident and
comfortable around guys: almost never had he been overawed or intimidated
by another boy. Hell, he hadn't felt nervous around a guy since the days
of his first sexual experiences, and that had been years ago. Even around
homophobic heterosexuals he rarely worried, having been trained in martial
arts enough to know he could hold his own. He remembered the last time a
group of jocks had tried to 'beat up the faggot'.

The brutish guys were used to their victims cowering as they threw
their kicks and punches. They had been taken totally by surprise when Aaron
had sidestepped a cumbersome punch and, grabbing the offending arm, threw
the surprised attacker into two of his mates, sending them toppling. A
fourth had decided to come charging at him, hoping to tackle him football
style. Alex would have laughed if he'd had time, but he concentrated on
throwing his own legs back out of reach, bringing his arm down over the
footballer's lowered neck and sprawling, driving the attacker's head into
the wood floor, knocking him out cold. After that, the others decided to
forego further injury and humiliation. A year and a half later and Aaron
had never had reason to prove that he could still defend himself.

Still, his current state of anxiety bothered him. He knew it wasn't
that he didn't want to see Brad. Maybe it was the fear that Brad wanted to
call it off, not see each other again. But that didn't make sense either:
he'd never been overly concerned when straight guys decided they couldn't
rationalize fooling around with him anymore. After all, there were always
more where they came from. What made this situation different?

      He grunted in frustration.

Why was he nervous about seeing Brad again?

************************************************************************

Brad rounded the corner a little too sharply, causing his car to skid
slightly. It had taken longer than he expected to creep through the house
and sneak out the back door, and even longer still to pop the car into
neutral and roll it far enough down the hill that he could start the engine
without waking his family. To make up for lost time, he was speeding, ever
so slightly. For some reason it was very important to him that he arrived
quickly. Brad had never been too concerned with punctuality, but something
made him hurry.

At the same time though, he was scared. There was something looming
in the back of his mind, something he was avoiding thinking about with all
his might. He knew that when he was finally forced to confront it, his life
would be changed forever, and instinctively he was afraid of it. He didn't
know why he had wanted to meet Aaron at the park: he was hoping that when
he arrived there, he'd know.

He pulled into the small ten-space carpark near the park and caught a
glimpse of a figure sitting on a bench. It was Aaron.

************************************************************************

Aaron saw the car pull in and his heart skipped a beat. He jumped off
the bench and moved as if to walk towards the carpark, but stopped
himself. He didn't want to seem too eager. So instead he stood under the
bright lights and waited.

Brad slammed the car door behind him and walked towards the
benches. He could now clearly make out Aaron's smooth, defined features,
down to the concerned expression on his face. He closed to within ten feet
of Aaron, entering the harsh circle of light cast by the large
lamp. Standing there, both felt as though the outside world dissolved into
darkness, leaving them standing statically in a white halo of light. They
regarded each other for long moments, neither knowing quite what to
say. Their silence spoke volumes: between them they communicated the
awkwardness of the situation, the uncertainty of what to say or do, but
also the deep knowledge that they were both deeply happy to see one
another. Finally, Brad spoke.

"Yesterday," he said. Aaron waited for him to finish the
sentence. Brad seemed to be struggling to find the right words. Finally, he
continued.

"Yesterday, in the shower..." he said slowly, as though he was
weighing each word before he spoke it.

"Yesterday, in the shower," he repeated, "Was...I've never done
anything like that before."

Aaron said nothing. He sensed Brad was having a hard enough time
getting the words out without him interrupting.

"It was so..." Brad paused, as if unsure of what to say. "We didn't
even do anything," he said, almost as though he were talking to
himself. "We didn't do anything. So why..." he trailed off. He looked up
at Aaron and started again.

"The first time you sucked me, I was just looking to get off. I
didn't even think. The second time, I was nervous. I wondered, does this
make me gay? I didn't...didn't know if I should do it. Obviously I did it
anyway. And it was great, really. But then, that shower... Suddenly it was
different."

He lapsed into silence, eyes searching Aaron's face for any glimmer
of understanding or recognition.

"What was different?" Aaron asked quietly. Brad stepped closer,
narrowing the distance between them.

"Everything," he said. "Everything was different. Suddenly you
weren't that gay guy who I let suck me. You felt so...real, you know? So
alive. And I wasn't just getting off. I was having fun. I...I never had fun
with any of my girlfriends, not like that. We had fun, and then we had
sex. We never had both. It was...amazing. And you and I, man, we didn't
even do anything that wild. We were just touching... nothing got sucked or
fucked. So how come it was so much more intense than anything else I have
ever felt?"

Aaron was astonished at Brad's confession. Never in his experience of
fooling around with guys had one ever said anything like this, and he was
at a loss. Brad stepped closer once more, until he was standing less than
three feet from Aaron.

"I'm scared, Aaron," he said simply. There was no tremor in his
voice, no shame, no anger, just a clear statement.

"I'm scared of this," he continued, looking straight at the other
boy. "I don't understand it. I can't even believe what I'm about to say,
but I can't not say it. I think..." his voice lowered to a whisper:

"I think I might be gay."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, they felt right. He
smiled at Aaron, feeling a great weight slide off his shoulders. He felt a
lick of flame ignite in his chest, warming him comfortingly. He felt the
warmth billow through his entire being, and chuckled lightly. Happiness
washed over him, so different to the fear he thought he would feel when he
finally confronted this previously unknown part of himself.

Aaron felt dizzy. Whatever he had expected, this was not it. His mind
was reeling at the things Brad was saying. Mostly he was amazed that the
boy was able to verbalize everything so well, let alone actually accept
what he was feeling as right. Aaron had known many straight guys struggle
viciously against any curiosity they might feel. Brad's honesty and the way
he dealt with the situation filled Aaron with admiration for his friend. He
felt a feeling of warmth in his chest reach out towards Brad, seeking to
wrap itself around him and comfort him.

"Wow," breathed Aaron. "That was so...brave. To say that...wow," he
repeated. "No one...No one's ever told me something like that before." He
smiled. "But you know, Brad...about you being gay...well, I think..." he
trailed off. Brad looked at him anxiously.

"You think what?" He asked.

With a straight face, Aaron continued: "I think...I might be gay
too." He broke into a grin and Brad laughed. Still smiling, he reached up
and stroked the side of Aaron's face gently with his hand. Aaron reached up
with his other hand and mimicked Brad's movements.

Suddenly some unseen force pulled them together, and they were
kissing, deeply, slowly, passionately. Their bodies pressed together,
melding as though into one perfect fit, their arms wrapping around each
other, holding tight, transcending physical experience as they fell deeply
into each other. As their lips parted to admit tongues, the fire of their
souls burning inside them roared forth, joining in a dazzling inferno of
passion as they shared an ecstatic kiss.

Not too far away, nestled in a dark, thick bush, a shadowy figure
watched. Aaron and Brad continued to kiss, oblivious. Slowly, a camera was
raised to a deathly still face.
