End of Term Party

Dean could not believe that he had reached the end of his first term at

Grainger's office.

Milton knocked on the door

Grainger was talking to the headmaster and said "you had better phone Mr

The headmaster said "yes I know this is a call I `m dreading to make how

Grainger said "well it seems Brookes was unhappy about leaving"

Never mind we will go through the ins and outs tomorrow now you had better
get to the hospital and take Matthews and Bennett with you Milton and
myself will try and get the rest of the boys back to bed even though I
cannot see much sleeping going on tonight"


The ambulance arrived at the local hospital and the paramedics rushed Andy
into the resuscitation room.A nurse ushered Rob towards reception to book

Rob gave the receptionist the information and asked "when can I see him?"

The receptionist said "I `m sorry but the doctors are with Andrew at the
moment I have no information and even if I did I cant only disclose that
information to family members"

Grainger said "yes I can understand that but Andrews's parents live in
Saudi Arabia and while he is still a pupil at the school he is legally our
responsibility"

The receptionist said "ok I will try and find some information for you"

The receptionist walked away towards the resus area.

Mr Grainger walked back and sat next to the lads and said "well she is
going to try and find out something"

Rob said "good"

It was then that the receptionist reappeared with a young looking doctor.

"Hi I'm Dr Harris I `m looking after Andrew" said the young doc

"Well all considering the height he fell he is doing ok he has broken his
left leg and has some cuts and bruises but mainly we are concerned that he
hasn't yet come round" Dr Harris said

"Can we see him? Rob asked

"Not yet we are going to be moving him shortly to the intensive care unit
you will be able to see him then ok"

Rob said "ok thanks"

Dr Harris then said "by the way do you know where we can contact his
parents it is just we need a consent form signing so that we can operate on
his leg"

Mr Grainger said "umm well they are actually still out in Saudi Arabia
until Monday but I know the headmaster was phoning them I could phone him
to see what they said if you like?"

Mr Grainger phones the head and after about ten minutes he returned he
walked over to the reception desk and said "can I speak to the doctor again
please?"

Yes of course sir said the receptionist and called Dr Harris over the
public address system to reception.

DR Harris said "hi what did the head say?"

Mr Grainger said "Mr and Mrs Brookes are on the next flight home and should
be here by sometime tomorrow"

Dr Harris said "Thanks for finding out we are just about ready to move
Andrew so if you and your companions want to follow me I will show you the
way to the ICU dept"

Joshua Dean and Rob followed as Andrew was wheeled into the lift and up to

Rob sat next to Andrew and held his hand until a nurse asked him to leave
for a minute while they settled him in and put on the drip.

The Next Morning


Mrs Bennett was preparing breakfast at Milton with the radio playing in
background. She was just about to call Lord Hargreaves when she heard the
news headlines "Young schoolboy hurt in roof fall"

She put the volume up a bit just as the newsreader said "a 16 yr old
schoolboy is in a crucial condition in hospital after an apparent suicide
attempt. It is believed that the lad who has not yet be named jumped off
the roof at Benedict Park School last night"

"he is believed to have been moved to the intensive care unit at St
Margaret's Hospital

Mrs Bennet ran into the dining room and said "sir did you have the news on
then"

Mrs Bennet switched the TV news on just as the report was going on Lord

rang the school number which unsurprisingly was engaged.

Lord Hargreaves then phoned Rob's mobile which was switched off

Rob had just woke up and said "I'm going to get some fresh air and to phone

Rob dialled the number for Milton and it was engaged so being sensible he
phoned his dads mobile.

Lord Hargreaves picked up his mobile and said "Thank god it's Rob and
answered it.

"You ok Rob?" Lord Hargreaves asked

Hargreaves said

"I can't tell you over the phone can you please come here and be with me I

"How's Dean taking it" Lord Hargreaves asked

"Not very well he is crying all the time but it was worse for Josh and me
as we were there when he actually jumped" Rob said

"I'll be there within the hour and I'll bring Mrs Bennet as well ok" Lord
Hargreaves said

"Thanks dad" Rob said

"I love you rob and you makes sure you look after yourself ok I'll see you
soon ok" Lord Hargreaves
