Time seemed to bleed by as Thanksgiving quickly gave way to Christmas and
the problems that Jules was facing didn't seem to decrease in the
least. Damian hadn't left his side and neither had Kodi. Right after
Thanksgiving dinner, Damian pulled Aiden outside to have a conversation
with him about what was going on with Jules.

"Tell me why I shouldn't kick you sorry ass right here where you stand"
Damian sneered.

"I...I -- dunno...I don't know what to say" Aiden stammered, he was
physically shaken by Damian's words.

"I left him in your care because I thought that you loved him and would
take care of him; I thought you would be able to help him because you of
all people are fully aware of the stress and the drama he is going through"

"I'm sorry" Aiden said pleadingly.

"You're right, you are sorry...a sorry ass excuse. Don't come around here
anymore" Damian said in a finalizing tone.

The rest of the weekend was spent in more of a mellow mood, which was good
for Jules even though he felt bad for not making it exciting for Caden even
though Caden was just happy to be hanging around his friend. Much to
Jules's delight, Caden and Damian got along very well, that brought a smile
to his face. That sat around and watched movies, played video games and ate
junk food the whole weekend.

Christmas was days away and the Barrett residence was decked out in total
holiday flare.  Christmas was Jules's favorite holiday and he made sure
that he and Damian were going to have a great one seeing as it would be
just them. Stellan had made it out of Belize safely with the help of his
right hand man, who happened to be Damian's father Liam, but they had to go
right back on an important assignment that Stellan had been putting off in
order to deal with Jason West. Jules and Damian both were sad that they
wouldn't be spending the holiday with their parents but they knew the
importance of their father's job.

Jules had decided he wasn't ready to return to school just yet and was
chastised by Damian for letting the situation with Aiden get to him and
force him to leave school when Aiden clearly wasn't worth the headache,
Jules knew it was true but it hurt none- the-less. He did however keep in
contact with Caden to make sure that he wasn't being harassed in his
absence.

This situation between Jules and Dustin was beginning to grow stale and
Dustin was starting to lose hope. He knew that Jules was going through a
lot and wanted to be there for him as well as wanted to be with him, he
berated himself for giving Jules away as easily as he did. He despised the
sight of Aiden and let him know it every chance he got while on
campus. Dustin took every opportunity he got to hang out with Jules, which
was pretty frequent because they were training for the up-coming martial
arts tournament and he was sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were
both going to win in their belt class and division. He was resigned just to
remain friends with Jules even though he ached for there to be something
more with him and only because Jules told him he was not particularly ready
to jump into something with him after him and Aiden broke up.  Dustin
wasn't aware that Jules just didn't feel right about starting to date him
after he chose Aiden over him in the first place, his feelings for Dustin
weren't the same anymore.

It was December 23rd, Jules and Damian went to the mall to finish up some
last minute shopping. The Inland Center Mall was crowded and Jules kicked
himself for not finishing his shopping sooner. He actually needed to get a
last minute gifts for Damian and Caden and couldn't get Damian's sooner
because he never seemed to wanna leave Jules's side.  He laughed at the
thought while trying to think of a way to get Damian to go his separate way
for a bit.

"This place is crowded and you know I hate crowds" Jules said with a smirk.

"mmhmm" Damian replied with a knowing smile.

"Do me a favor" Jules asked "Will you go to Macy's and pick up the gift for
Caden?"

"Why can't we go together?" Damian asked, beaming from ear to ear "Is it
because you still need to get my present? What are you getting me? It
better be something I like"

"Stop being nosey" he said laughing "Just go do this for me"

"Fine, I'll go. But meet me in the food court in one hour"

Jules watched Damian until he was completely out of his sight; he didn't
want Damian to double back and try to spy on him while he went to buy the
last of his gifts. His first stop was to Hollister to purchase a few pairs
of Damian's favorite jeans, then next was Footlocker to get his best friend
a brand new Toronto Blue Jays hat, and lastly was to a Jewelry store to buy
the new Omega Seamaster watch. Jules bought one for himself a couple weeks
ago and now wanted to get one for Damian so they had matching watches, they
always bought things that matched for each other, it was something they did
for years.

After his shopping was concluded, Jules met Damian in the food court and
decided to get some lunch. While chatting and enjoying their lunch; Jules
spotted John Fairbanks with his father and someone who clearly looked like
it could be his older. Jules started to vibrate in anger, he hadn't seen
John since the day he beat up Caden, and hadn't seen his father since he
threatened to kick his ass that same day at the hospital.

John noticed Jules and quickly avoided eye contact, he tried to walk a
different direction but it was too late, his father had seen Jules and made
a b-line right for the table he and Damian were sitting at. Damian noticed
the man charging towards their table with an angry glare on his face and
didn't know what was going on, with his instincts taking over he scooted
his chair away from the table to give himself room incase he need to
quickly flee from the man or advance on him.

"You should've been put in jail for what you did to my son and his friends"
the man said through clenched teeth.

"If I should be in jail, then so should your son and his friends for what
they did to Caden...you know a hate crime is a federal offense" Jules said
with a smirk.

"What is going on here?" Damian asked.

"Oh this man's son and his friends jumped Caden a while ago, and me and
Dustin fucked their shit up for it and this man tried to get in my face at
the hospital and I told him I would fuck his shit up too" Jules told
Damian.

"Well there's no need to make a scene, let's go Jules" Damian said getting
up from his seat.

"Are you some dirty queer like just like him and that other boy?"
Mr. Fairbanks asked indignantly, but Jules got up in a blind fury and went
for the man but Damian grabbed him before he could attack.

"I meant what I said about kicking your ass like I did your son" Jules
yelled, then he looked John right in the eyes "John, don't let your
father's actions get you into a world of hurt"

"Again with the threats boy, you will get yours" Mr. Fairbanks sneered.

"You know..." Damian said in a calm tone, stepping up to man "The last
three people to mess with Jules didn't fair to well, Two of them are now
locked up and the third was shot to death" he said looking at the man in
his eyes "We wouldn't want you to make the same mistake would we?"

Mr. Fairbanks and the other two boys blanched at the comment and quickly
left the food court without another word. Damian grabbed their bags and
pulled a still angry Jules by the arm and left the mall. Jules was still
brimming with anger by the time they got home, he knew he needed to calm
down so he went up to his room to try and relax and take a nap before it
was time for dinner.

A few hours later; Jules was woken up out of violently restless sleep by
Kodi, he told Jules that Damian stepped out to run some errands and that he
was down stairs making dinner when he heard Jules yelling. Jules told him
it was another bad dream but really didn't want to talk about the details
about it; Kodi helped him out of bed and pulled him into a hug to get him
to calm down. Kodi and Jules had started to grow close since he had moved
in, he was now becoming someone that Jules could rely on, he felt safe
around him. They would talk for endless hours getting to know each other
and realized that despite a two and a half year age difference, they had a
lot in common. Jules had thought that Kodi was very attractive from the
moment he met him, but at the time he had feelings for two other people and
didn't pursue the issue, Jules was also very sure that Kodi wouldn't want
to be with someone so young that age an extensive amount of baggage.

What Jules didn't know what that Kodi was starting to develop feelings for
him, but he wasn't sure it would be proper to do anything about it. He knew
that Jules was going through a lot but that didn't stop him from feeling a
pull towards him, it actually made being with him more attractive, he also
knew that starting anything wouldn't be good because Damian was in the
house and would protect Jules like a rabid dog. The last thing holding Kodi
away from Jules was the fact that he actually worked secretly for Stellan.
Yes he was college student, but was also a junior field agent for Stellan's
company and was placed at the Barrett residence as employment probation and
was told to watch over Jules with out him knowing. Kodi was fully aware
that Jules hated being lied to and really didn't know what to do about the
situation.

Damian came home in time for dinner and brought Caden, Dustin, DeMarco and
Amy with him, telling Jules that since they were on Christmas vacation from
school it would be good to all hang out and have dinner. During dinner,
Jules got a text from his friend Connor who said he was on his way over to
bring him a Christmas present. Twenty minutes later; he showed up carrying
an extremely large and heavy wrapped box that needed to put under the
tree. Connor walked in and greeted everyone he knew and gave Damian a hug,
they knew each other from when Jules and Christian were together and he got
along with Damian very well. Jules introduced Connor to Caden, Connor's
face hit the floor upon looking at the young boy standing before him and
Caden blushed a deep scarlet red at Connor's expression as he shook his
hand. Jules smiled at the exchange and pulled Connor aside to talk to him.

"You really didn't have to bring me a gift, it's sweet but I didn't get you
anything"

"I know what you can get me for Christmas" Connor said with a grin "Hook me
up with your friend Caden"

"What?!"

"He's beautiful Jules, does he have a boyfriend?"

"Are you serious Connor?" Jules asked with a shocked expression.

"Oh my God, is he even gay? I didn't mean to assume, it's just he's so..."
he rambled before he caught himself and closed his mouth, looking rather
embarrassed.

"Yes he's gay and no he doesn't have a boyfriend" Jules said while trying
to stifle a laugh at Connor's embarrassment "But he's only 14 and a
freshman"

"I don't care, like I said he's beautiful and he has to be mature enough if
you are letting him hang out with you...so are you gonna hook it up?"

"I guess I can try, but I'm warning you...he is kinda fragile and very shy,
so you can't hurt him or mess with his head, he's starting to become like a
little brother to me and I care a lot about him"

"You care a lot about me too right?" Connor asked.

"Yes of course I do, don't ask stupid questions Connor"

"Well I'm single and lonely; you know I'm a good guy so go hook me up"

Not one to beat around the bush; after dinner was done, Jules pulled Caden
aside and told him that his friend was interested in him and wanted to talk
to him. He told Caden that he trusted Connor and he was a good guy, but
that Caden should feel obligated to talk to him if he didn't want to. Caden
was still very shy but hanging out with Jules was boosting his confidence,
he didn't understand why Connor would want to talk to him as he thought he
was nothing special, but he did admit the Connor was very attractive so he
agreed to talk to him.

It was still warm for December is Southern California, so Connor and Caden
went on the back patio to talk. DeMarco was in the kitchen with Amy,
holding up mistletoe so she would make out with him, like she really needed
a reason to and Dustin had disappeared somewhere with Damian. Jules noticed
when the two of them walked off together and under normal circumstances he
would have been jealous, but Jules didn't have those feelings for Dustin
anymore, he wasn't sure why but he was ok with it.

When it seemed like everyone else was off doing their own thing, Jules ran
upstairs to retrieve the rest of the Christmas presents. He came back down
and sat in front of the large and beautifully decorated tree in the living
room and arranged all the gifts.

"There are a lot of boxes under that tree" Kodi said, sitting on the floor
next to Jules.

"Christmas has always been a big deal in this house, all holidays actually
but Christmas was my mom's favorite, plus I like to gives lots of gifts to
the people that I care about" he said with a smile.

"I can tell, I hope you're done shopping because there is no more room
under the tree"

"Yeah, I'm done. I finished my shopping today"

"Is there anything under the tree for me?" Kodi asked jokingly.

"Um...yeah, actually there is" Jules blushed.

"Wait, what? I was joking Jules, you didn't have to get my anything" he
said trying to be serious but was clearly trying to hide his excitement.

"I told you, I like to give gifts to those I care about" he said, looking
at Kodi.

"Um...so...are you saying that you care about me" Kodi said looking back at
Jules.

"I do care about you; you have been good to me when there was no need to
be"

"I care about you too Jules, but not because I need to but because I like
to and you deserve it"

There was about five seconds of silence that actually felt like minutes,
Jules leaned over and kissed Kodi. It wasn't just a peck on the lips but a
real sincere kiss, he didn't know why he did it, there was just something
inside him that told him to go for it whatever to outcome might be, he was
a little shocked when Kodi actually leaned into the kiss. Kodi lost himself
while kissing Jules, it was something that he wanted to do from the moment
he met his boss's son, and it was something that he kept struggling to
prevent himself from doing, but in this moment he was lost and allowed
himself something that had wanted for sometime.

He laid his hand on the side of Jules's face and kissed him deeper, he
licked Jules' lips and urged his mouth open to allow Kodi's tongue to
enter. The kiss was growing more intense just as Kodi came to his senses
and pulled back, Jules was surprised by the abrupt stop of their tender
kissing. Kodi immediately slid away from Jules to put some distance between
them and keep himself from being tempted to touch and kiss Jules
again. Jules was confused and slightly hurt by Kodi moving away from him
but he tried to hide the expression from showing on his face, but Kodi seen
the look on his face.

"I'm sorry Jules, that shouldn't have happened"

"Um...did I do something wrong...if I did...I'm sorry I didn't mean..." he
stammered not really knowing what to say.

"No you didn't do anything wrong kiddo, I did. Trust me, the kiss was nice
and something I wanted to do but I shouldn't have...I...um...I...should go"
Kodi said. He slowly got up and walked out of the room and left a confused
Jules sitting in front of the tree.

A little while later, Damian drove Dustin, DeMarco and Amy home while
Connor gave a beaming Caden a ride home. Jules took a long hot shower and
went through his nightly routine of brushing his teeth and cleansing his
face, before he walked naked into his bedroom and climbed into his bed. He
was still much taken aback by the situation with Kodi, he believed him when
he said that he wanted to kiss him but did know why Kodi would say that he
shouldn't have and then run out like that.

Around midnight; Kodi paced around the guest house with his thoughts all in
a tizzy. He didn't know what to do, kissing Jules had thrown him for a loop
and he wanted nothing more then to do it again, but there were some factors
that he needed to work out. Firstly; he wasn't sure that Jules had felt the
same away about him, and the fact that Jules initiated the kiss just
confused Kodi even more. He wasn't sure if Jules actually felt that same
way for him or if he just kissed him because Kodi was there and Jules had
been feeling vulnerable. Kodi also didn't want to lose his job but the need
to be with Jules was something we wanted more and he came to the
realization that he was willing to risk his job...but all of the that paled
to the fact that Jules didn't even know that Kodi worked for Stellan, and
Kodi was really nervous as to how he would take the news.

He knew that to work anything else out that he was going to have to talk to
Jules himself, by the time he got all his thoughts together, he looked at
the clock and saw that it was just after midnight and was sure that Jules
would be asleep, so he climbed in bed to try to get some sleep and told
himself that he would discuss things with Jules in the morning. But after
lying in bed for about ten minutes; he got anxious and knew it couldn't
wait any longer. He got out of bed and crossed the backyard and scaled the
wall up to Jules's balcony and in threw the sliding glass door that he new
Jules always kept open.

He crept into the room as quiet as he could and noticed that Jules was
sound asleep, he couldn't help but stare at him, he was beautiful and Kodi
wanted him so bad. He reigned himself in after realizing he was staring at
Jules while he slept was kind of creepy, he turned on the lamp of Jules'
side table and went to wake him up but stopped short. His nerves were
getting to him and he suddenly became aware that what he was about to do
might not be for the best. He started to pace in front of the bed and run
his hands through his hair like he was nervous and stressed out, which is
something new for the very laid back and centered Kodi Archuleta.

"Wha...what are you doing?" said a sleepy Jules, who stirred during his
sleep and noticed that his lamp was on and woke up to find Kodi pacing in
his room.

"Oh...um" said Kodi startled "I just...I need to...but I don't know
how...I..." he stammered before sitting on the edge of the bed, hunched
over with his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands.

"What is it?" Jules asked concerned, wanting to take Kodi's hand but
restraining himself from doing so.

Kodi took a deep breath to steel his nerves, "I'm glad you kissed me
because I have wanted to kiss you for a long time but I knew it wouldn't be
right. You are going through some things right now and it wouldn't have
been right of me to push myself onto you but now that you kissed me, I want
you and I don't know what to do about it"

"I like you a lot Kodi, you've been there for me and you take care of me
and you are sweet and caring, I kissed you because of all of those things,
not mention that I find you attractive. I know I'm going through some crazy
shit right now but I hope that it wouldn't keep you away from me"

"No it wouldn't, but I just thought that it wouldn't be fair of me to try
and pursue you when you're still trying to get over someone you have been
in love with, not to mention everything else...plus, there's something
else...there's another reason I didn't tell you sooner and I have to tell
you but I'm afraid that you'll hate me for it, I know you'll be upset and I
could get over you being mad at me but I wouldn't be able to take you
hating me"

"What is it?" Jules asked suddenly very nervous.

"Just promise you won't hate me please?" he asked pleadingly

"I can't say that I won't but I will say that I'll try not to"

"Ok...well...I work for your father, I'm a junior field agent and he hired
me to stay here and keep an eye on you because he knew that he wasn't going
to be around much"

"WHAT?!"

 "I know you don't like being lied to but he told me not to tell you under
any circumstances, but that was before I met you, then after meeting you I
had to fight with myself over risking my job and following my heart and
doing the right thing...please don't hate me"

Jules sat back on his bed and pulled sheets up to cover himself, he was a
mixture of upset, shocked and sad. Upset that his father would do such a
thing when he thought his father trusted him, shocked that he hadn't caught
on to it when he usually would have noticed something like that and sad
that Kodi had struggled with losing his job over tell him Jules the truth.

"Please get out" Jules whispered.

"I'm sorry Jules" he said with a sigh and walked to the door.

"I...I just need to think"

"Just know that I've wanted you from the moment you pointed a shot gun to
my head" he said lastly and walked out of the door.

Jules sat there thinking about what he had just heard and he didn't know
how to process it. He hated being lied to and the more he thought about it
the more pissed off he was becoming, he had to take a deep breath and calm
his nerves, he knew he to stop getting himself worked up. He didn't want to
be mad at Kodi, he liked him and he had to take stock in the fact that Kodi
did really want to tell him and despite possibly jeopardizing his job, he
told him any way. Jules really liked him, he wasn't like any guy he had
ever met and above all else, Kodi made Jules feel good.

Jules finally made up his mind and climbed out of bed; he pulled of a pair
of basketball shorts and tiptoed out of his room and down the stairs. He
walked out the back door and determinedly walked into the guest house. Kodi
was lying in the bed with the lights off trying to go to sleep but couldn't
after the conversation he just had, he was surprised when Jules walked in
but didn't know what to say. Kodi turned on the lamp next to his bed and
sat up on his elbow waiting for Jules to say something first.

"I don't like being lied to, it's a big violation in my book" Jules said
sternly.

"I know, I'm sorry"

"Never lie to me again"

"I promise I won't keep anything from you again"

"Ok"

Jules turned off the bedside lamp and climbed into the bed with Kodi, he
snuggled up to him and went to sleep wrapped in Kodi's arms.

Hmm, I wonder what's going to happen from here...Will Jules finally find
some worthy enough? Maybe...I do hope things even out for him, but its high
school -- there's drama at every turn. Keep Posted.
