I hope this letter finds you well, you said I should write you and I'm
hoping you meant it.  I again want to apologize for what I've done; there

would find it in your heart to forgive me. I heard about what happened to

Jules read the letter over again, he didn't really know what to think
about, he did tell Jacob to write him to tell him about his progress and

The rest of the Christmas holiday was great, Amy and her family along with

dessert was being served; everyone was in the living room listening to
Stellan play the piano when Kodi got in the mood to dance. He grabbed Jules

surprised at first but settled into the closeness and lost all sense of

Kodi's intentions for dancing with Jules in front of everyone were

Dante to Aiden is disbelief, DeMarco knew full well of the situation.

away, but looked to Caden to see if he would be comfortable speaking with
him. After a moment of thinking, Caden shrugged that it would be alright
but Jules could tell that he was still a little nervous. Jules got up from
his seat and sat down next to Caden and indicated for John to sit as well.

"I...I wanted to apologize, to the both of you. I'm sorry Caden for what I
did to you, the guys really didn't want to but I pushed them into it and I
only did it because Joshua ordered me to...I think at the time I was too
stupid to realize that he couldn't get to me from prison if I refused
him. And Jules I'm sorry for my dad, he thinks a lot like Joshua's dad and
a big reason as to why I moved out and am now living with my grandparents"

"What do you mean?" Jules

"Well, I'm gay" John said, he was fidgeting and kept staring at his hands

"Wait, what?" Caden asked.

"I'm gay, I have known for a while and I've secretly been dating someone

"Then why did you do all the shit you did even before Joshua went to
prison?"

"I kind of figured he did the same thing to his brother when he found out
that Jacob liked me" Jules said.

"He did it to me" John said flatly. Jules and Caden both were stunned into

know it's hard to talk about so you don't have to tell us anything"

"Thank you, but I'm finally at a place where I can talk about it...at least

at Jules "Joshua found out about me and my boyfriend when I first started
dating him, then he told me that he was going to tell my dad and everyone
else if I didn't suck him off, it got worse because he wanted to do

The beginning of the week started a little rocky with the incident with
Dante, but it ended on a rather positive note. Connor and Caden joined
Jules and Kodi for a night of pizza, beers and board games; they were also

Since it was just Jules and Kodi now at the Barrett residence; they spent a

The following Wednesday as school ended, Jules walked out to his Range
Rover and noticed there was someone leaning against it and the closer he
got, he realized it was Dante. Jules slowed his step to take in his
surroundings and saw that there were three more guys on the other side of
the car. Jules realized he had two options and new none of them were very
promising, he could turn around and try to run but he was close enough that
they would catch him. The other option was to stand and fight the four
rather large young men and try to hold them off until someone came to help,
he took his cell phone out of his pocket and quickly hit the speed dial to
ring Kodi's cell phone, who was at school a block away.

"I said you were going to get your ass kicked" Dante said as he advanced on
him. Jules stuck his phone in his pocket before Kodi got a chance to
answer; Jules just hoped he would be able to hear what was going on.

"And like I told you before, you aren't going to be the one to kick my ass
and you know it, that's why you had to bring friends" Jules said stepping
back to distance himself and prepare for attack. "Four big guys for little
ol' me, that's hardly fair" he quipped with a smirk.

Dante stepped wide towards Jules and swung at him, Jules leaned to dodge
the blow and swept his shin bringing Dante to his knee then slammed him in
the face with his fist.  Before Jules could step back and strike again, two
of the other guys grabbed him and started wailing on him. He blocked as
many of the blows as he could but brought his arms up to protect his head,
doing so left his body open. Jules was punched in the stomach knocking the
wind out of him and dropping him to his knees gasping for air, the three
guys proceed to kick Jules while Dante struggled to get to his feet.

Two of the guys stepped back to help Dante to his feet, giving Jules and
opening. Jules rolled to his side and kicked the guy closest to him in the
knee hearing it snap and crunch, leaving the guy screaming in agony. One of
the other guys ran at Jules before he had a chance to get up and tried to
kick Jules in the stomach, but Jules caught his leg and began to punch him
over and over in the nuts while screaming at him. All of the sudden Jules
was kicked in the face, sprawling him out on the pavement.

Time seemed to slow down to Jules then, he could see that the Dante and the
last guy was the only two standing and they were kicking him in his body
but he was numb and couldn't really feel it anymore. His eyes fell to the
side and noticed that a crowd had gathered watching, everyone seemed
shocked with covered mouths but no one seemed to move to stop the beating.

Jules heard a blood curdling scream and looked to see Amy and DeMarco
running to him and he was being kicked, he could feel blood pouring from
his face. He tried to put up his hands to stop his friends from coming to
him; he didn't want them involved or get hurt.  Dante knelt down and turned
Jules's head so he was looking at him, then punched him in the face and
Jules was taken by the darkness...again.

Kodi was in Cal State San Bernardino's Campus Common with his friends when
he got the call from Jules, he smiled when he seen his name pop up on
caller ID, they couldn't go a day with calling or texting each other
multiple times. The smile on his face faded when he answered his phone and
heard the commotion on the other end. He took off in a sprint, leaving his
friends without explanation. He ran out of the Campus Common and through
the parking lot, he didn't bother to take his car, so he ran towards Cajon
High School which was literally a block away.

Kodi got to the school and ran across the back campus to the student
parking lot where he figured Jules would be. When he got to the parking
lot, he spotted the crowd of watchers and has he got closer, he seen two
guys kicking Jules who was laid out on the ground. He reached the scene
just as Dante punched Jules in the face, he seen DeMarco running towards
them as well but he got him first.

In a blind fury, Kodi launched himself at Dante. He grabbed the man and
punched him in his eye then, kicked him in the stomach and then punched him
in the jaw, making his neck snap and knocking him out. Kodi turned his
attention to the last guy standing but he took off running before he could
get to him. He turned back to Jules, who was now unconscious, bleeding and
being cradled in Amy's arms. He took him from Amy and started to feel for
vital signs, he felt a faint pulse and started to scream for someone to
call 911 but no one moved, people either didn't care and was just watching
the show or was too in shock to do anything. DeMarco pulled Jules' car keys
from out of his pocket and told Kodi to pick him up and put him in the back
seat.

Jules was in the emergancy room and they wouldn't let anyone go back to see
him just yet. Kodi was pacing around the waiting room, nervous and frantic,
he kept pulling at his hair like he wanted to yank it out. Amy sat in the
corner crying while trying to comfort DeMarco who had completely lost it
and broke down, he only had enough strength and sensibility to drive them
to the hospital before he collapsed and sobbed. He kept moaning "why is it
always him" and "why is it always me who finds him". This is the second
situation where DeMarco witnessed the aftermath of an attack on his young
friend.

Just then; Aiden and his mother stormed into the waiting room, Ms. Talley
ran off to the nurse's station then they escorted her back to find out what
was going on. Aiden stood there staring at his sister, shocked and not
knowing what to say as he noticed Kodi pacing and DeMarco balling his eyes
out. DeMarco calmed down enough to wipe his tears away and noticed that
Aiden was standing in front of them.

"Did you know they were going to do it?" DeMarco yelled at Aiden, getting
right up in his face. Amy stood up, shocked not knowing what to do and Kodi
turned to face them when he heard DeMarco yelling "Answer me
damnit...Did. You. Know?"

"Wha...what do you mean?" Aiden stammered.

"They are your friends" DeMarco yelled "I see you with them, Dante and his
group. They jumped Jules and beat him bad and I wanna know if you knew they
were going to do it.  You were there the day Jules got into it with Dante
and you stood there and did nothing like a punk. You knew didn't you?"

"They...they said they were going to do it, but I didn't think they really
would, plus I knew Jules could take care of himself" Aiden stammered. Amy's
eye got wide and Kodi began to violently shake as he stepped towards Aiden,
but it was DeMarco's turn to throw a punch first as he hit him square in
the jaw, knocking him flat on his ass. He got on top of him and punched him
a few more times in the face. Amy was too shocked to move, Kodi came to his
senses enough to pull DeMarco off the boy on the floor.

"This is all your fault" DeMarco spat at Aiden "You should be the one in
the ER, not him"

Just when things are starting to look good for Jules, life has to throw him
