I wanna know what love is Chp 6

DeMarco felt badly for the way he and the other guys had handled the
situation with Jules; he knew it was a bad idea but didn't want to step out
of line since he was the new friend in the situation. He now kicked himself
for not doing what his heart told him to do days ago. With everyone still
shocked at the news that Jules was going out on a date with Christian,
DeMarco ran upstairs to talk to him while he got ready.

"Jules; I'm so sorry for how that went, you have every right to be upset
with me"

"It's ok. I just don't like being kept in the dark about things that
concern me. It makes me feel helpless and I hate it. I've had enough of
feeling helpless"

"I understand, I won't do anything like that again I promise" he said. He
paused a moment, not sure if he should continue with what he wanted to say
"Um, this might not be a good time to talk about this, but since it does
concern you I'd like to tell you why the situation with Jacob is different"
Jules didn't want to talk about it right now, but he was curious as to why
his father had made that decision without talking to him about it.

"Go on" he said while he searched through his closet for something to wear.

"He was forced to do what he did"

"Bullshit" Jules spat.

"No, seriously, he was, and according your father; Joshua didn't deny it"
Jules gave him a confused look. "Jacob is gay. He said he had a major thing
for you since before freshman year, but was afraid to say or do anything
about it because of his dad and brother. He said he only messed with you
this year because he came out to Joshua and Joshua told him if he didn't
harass you that he would tell their dad, but he ended up coming out to him
the day he got suspended. His brother and father forced him to do what they
did."

Jules was in shock. He didn't know how to take in what DeMarco just told
him. He had more than a clue that Jacob was gay, and knew that he was
facing his own demons, but he never figured that was the reason for the
change in him since they used to be friends. He shuttered to think of how a
father could force his son to do something so heinous to a person who is
the same way as his son. He was wanted to feel bad for Jacob, but his
fragile state of emotions wouldn't allow him to do so at the moment.

"He wants to see you Jules; before he goes off to the detention camp"

"Why?"

"He wants to apologize, he doesn't want your forgiveness, he just wants to
apologize"

DeMarco left Jules to think about what he had just heard and what he was
going to do about it. He knew Jules was a strong kid, and he would be there
for him whenever he needed. He just felt badly that he couldn't be there
for his brother like he was for Jules, but it made him smile knowing that
he was doing what his brother would have wanted him to do. He had to hurry
and make it home, because like Jules; DeMarco had a date. He and Amy were
becoming increasingly close; he really liked her. Not for the fact that she
was beautiful or the head cheer leader, but for her sense of humor and her
kindness. He was starting to really see himself with her.

Since he started at this new school, and through all the shit that Jules is
going through, no one has yet to meet his mother. No one really thought
anything about it because DeMarco is 18 and can come and go as he
pleases. His mother is a professor at the university so she is always busy,
but tonight is a big night. DeMarco is taking Amy to meet his mother for
dinner.

At 7 pm on the dot, the door bell rang. Jules quickly ran to the door after
shouting his goodbyes and left before his dad or his friends could make a
scene. Christian took Jules to his favorite restaurant at Victoria Gardens
and then to a movie and the mall. He was being a perfect gentleman and
although Jules could never forget how he cheated on him, he was enjoying
the attention he was getting. They went to see an action movie that Jules
had been excited about since the previews came on TV. He had to stifle a
laugh when Christian did the old yawn and stretch to put his arm around
him. Christian pulled Jules into him and kissed him on the lips. It was
soft and sweet. His kisses always made Jules' stomach flutter, Christian
pulled away with a smile knowing he had caused the desired effect. He
leaned back in and kissed Jules with more intensity, Jules met his kiss and
slipped his tongue in his mouth. They made out for the rest of the movie
and well past the rolling of the credits.

The ride back home was spent talking and laughing about the parts of the
movie they actually managed to watch. Christian wanted to ask Jules more
about the attack but decided he wouldn't in case it ruined the mood, so he
told Jules about his plans to go to the military academy, West Point after
high school. He was in his school's ROTC program and like Jules, was an
A.P. student.

When he pulled into the rounded driveway, he cut off the engine and looked
into Jules' eyes. Something about the look unnerved Jules. It brought him
back to the reality that Christian was really just a douche bag, but before
he could say or do anything Christian grabbed his face and kissed
him. Caught off guard; Jules melted into the kiss as his apprehensive
thoughts faded to the back of his mind. The kiss became more intense as
they started grabbing for each other. Christian licked Jules' ear and
kissed his neck, causing Jules to moan in pleasure that he hadn't felt in
months. Christian grabbed Jules's hand and placed it on his crotch, Jules
could feel Christian's already hard cock continue to grow thicker and it
excited him. Christian started to Jules' shirt off when it snapped him back
into reality.

"I can't" Jules said. "Why not? I know you loved it when we..." But Jules
cut him off.

"I just can't, not right now"

"But look what you did to me" pointing to his stiff dick with a smile on
his face.

"I know. I'm sorry, but you are little buddy are going to have to wait"

"But what if I can't wait?" That was clearly the wrong thing to say and
Christian realized it just as soon as the words left his mouth.

"If you can't wait, go have the boy who lives down the street from you suck
your dick like he did before" Jules said as he got out the car.

"Babe I'm sorry, I didn't mean it" he shouted out the window.

"Now you're back at square one Christian, don't fuck it up" Jules said,
matter-of-factly.

Christian was stunned by Jules' direct tone; he was always more the passive
one in their prior relationship as Christian took the lead. He didn't like
the change in Jules's demeanor, but figured he would start over and wait
for Jules to be ready; it would pay off in the long run. He started his
engine and watched Jules walk in the house. He waited until the porch light
was turned off before pulling out of the driveway.

After entering, Jules reset the alarm and walked into the kitchen. He
noticed the TV was on in the family room and walked in to see Aiden, lying
barefoot on the couch watching a movie.

"What are you doing here? I thought you had a game tonight."

"I did. We won of course, but I just got here" Aiden said with a
smile. Jules smiled back.

"Well congrats, but you didn't answer my question, and where is everyone?"

"Damian went to bed, he's still on New York time, and your dad left."

"Left where?" he asked nervously.

"You are usually asleep by now, but every day since Officer West vanished,
your dad and his guys have been out trying to work out where he could have
gone."

Jules felt suddenly relieved, "Ok, and why are you here instead of hanging
out with your team? I mean, you're welcome here; this is your second
home. I just don't want you to feel like you can't go be with your other
friends because you feel you need to watch over me."

"But I do have to...you're my friend, more than that, you are like my
little brother...and well there is something I needed to talk to you about,
too, but I just don't..." he was starting to stammer, which embarrassed him
as he turned two shades of red. Suddenly, Stellan walked through the back
door with a distressed look on his face. Aiden was relieved for the
distraction.

"How was your date son?"

"It was ok, but how are you? You look tired."

"I am tired, I haven't been sleeping much lately, but hopefully that will
change"

"What do you mean?" Aiden asked.

Stellan went on to tell the boys about how the search was going for Jason
West; his men had tracked him to Belize. Mr. West used every last favor he
had in the world to travel such a distance in two weeks time. He had gone
missing while Jules was still in his coma. Stellan's man track his
whereabouts and are now waiting to spot him before picking him up, the only
good thing about this ordeal is that the trial against the three has been
moved up to next week, in hopes that they get him back in time. Jules was
glad this was going to be over soon instead of having to wait months for
the trial to come about.

Stellan went to his room to get some sleep while the boys went
upstairs. Jules gave Aiden the choice of taking one of the guest rooms or
sleeping in his room. He decided to sleep in Jules's room but had to take
the pull-out couch since Damian was already asleep on his usual side of the
bed. They talked briefly about the game and other plans for the weekend,
Jules totally forgot that Aiden had wanted to talk to him about something
and Aiden was ok with that. He built up his courage all evening to tell him
but it left him as soon as he looked into his eyes.

Jules got undressed as usual and walked to his bathroom naked for his
nightly ritual. He didn't think anything about being naked in front of
Aiden. They were like brothers after all, and he didn't need to be shy
around him. Aiden, however; couldn't remove his eyes from Jules' body, the
body he had dreamed about and lusted after for a while now. His smooth neck
that led down to thin, but defined shoulders and arms, his small pecs and
flat stomach, the way his waist narrowed and how his ass was round and
supple, and the way they sat on smooth legs, and his perfectly kept
feet. Jules was his Adonis.

2 am like clockwork, Jules started screaming and shaking in a fitful
nightmare. Aiden was startled out of his sleep and noticed Jules was
screaming in his sleep. Just as Aiden got up to rush to Jules, Damian
grabbed him and pulled him close. Jules woke up in a fit of tears after
reliving his attack in his dreams. Aiden was worried and rushed to the
other side of the bed and sat down next to Jules.

"How often does he have them?" he asked Damian, noticing that he moved into
action like he had done it before. "Every night since he came home from
the hospital"

Aiden climbed into the bed and snuggled up behind Jules, who still had his
head on Damian's chest, and was crying himself back to sleep. He pulled the
covers over them and held both Jules and Damian as they fell back asleep.

********************************

The date of the trial has now come and Mr. West has yet to be
spotted. Stellan had his men drive Jules and his friends to the court house
in blacked out SUV's and had them pull up to a back entrance. The outside
of the court house was plagued with news crews and paparazzi, but they were
not allowed in the court room because the parties involved were
minors. Stellan had a field day with the reporter for the newspaper that
had mistakenly printed Jules's name in the article. The reporter lost his
job after having to print a formal apology, but the damage had been done,
and everyone knew, especially people at school.

They filed into the court room and took their seats. Soon after, Joshua was
brought in, wearing a bright orange jump suit. He sat at the defendant's
table, turned towards Jules with an evil grin and blew a kiss at him. It
freaked Jules out and he started to shake, willing himself not to have a
panic attack in court. Damian on the other hand, was out of his seat and
charging at Joshua, but was caught by Stellan before he got there. Joshua
was startled by the boy he had never seen before running at him, and faced
forward without looking back.

Court was called to order by the judge, Alexander Yancy. The name caused
Jules to take notice of the judge. As he looked, he recognized him
immediately as one of his mother's friends. He had been over to house
several times for dinner. Jules looked over at his dad and was met with a
look that said "don't say a word." With a nod, Jules understood what his
father was trying to convey.

After a few preliminary words from the federal prosecutor, Jacob was
brought in wearing an orange jump suit, just like his brother. He searched
the room for Jules and found him sitting in the second row. He stared at
Jules, hoping he would look up and their eyes would meet, but was heart
broken when that didn't happen. Jacob was asked to stand and enter his plea
after the prosecutor indicated to the judge that a deal had been met. Jacob
then stood and gave his account of the day's events and how he was forced
to do so under threat of his father and brother. Damian held Jules' hand
and kept his arm around him to keep him from breaking down. Jacob finished
what he had to say and was escorted from the court room.

It was Jules' turn to take the witness stand; the prosecutor had him recall
what he remembered of that day. He recounted with great detail everything
that happened to him. He didn't mention the nightmares it's caused him to
have; he thought some things need to be private. He went on to explain his
injuries and how he had to be kept in a coma. By the time the prosecutor
was finished asking Jules questions, the jury was eating out of the palm of
his hand. Joshua's lawyer tried to paint Jules as a sex crazed boy who
seduced and confused Jacob and then beat him up in the hall, but the judge
wasn't having it. It took fifteen minutes for the jury to come back with a
guilty verdict.

Jules' security detail ushered him and has friends out the back of the
court house to where their blacked out SUV's were parked. As they were
about to pull off, Jules saw Jacob being escorted out the back of the court
house towards a white van. "Better do this now or never" he thought to
himself and had the driver stop the vehicle. Jules got out and was followed
by two of his guards as he walked over to Jacob, who was waiting to be
loaded in his van. They stared silently at each other for a few
minutes. Jules could see the hurt and emotional pain Jacob was going
through, but it was nothing compared to what he was going through himself.

"Is there something you wanted to say to me?"

"I...I'm so sorry Jules" he stammered "The truth is I have been in love
with you since the 8th grade and I was happy being your friend. Then, when
you came out I got scared because my dad and brother were so vocal about
hating fags. I tried to avoid you, I really did, but I caught myself always
looking for you at school just so I could see your face" he paused, tears
falling down his face; Jules was totally shocked by what he was hearing.

"Then that time in the locker room" he continued "I just couldn't help
myself and I wanted you, and I know you wanted me, too, because you let me
do it and you had this huge smile on your face, and I was so happy that I
made you smile. After that, I got scared again and that's why avoided you
for three years. It killed me because I wanted to call you and talk to you,
but I was stupid and scared. This year my plan was to avoid you and wait
until my brother left for college and hope that you would be available, and
I could treat you like I always wanted to." He paused again to wipe more
tears. His escorts were getting impatient, so Stellan pulled them into a
conversation to give the boys some privacy.

"But he caught me Jules, he caught me" he said. "Joshua caught me staring
at a picture of you on my computer. I always stare at pictures of you. I
tried to play if off but he figured me out and blackmailed me to mess with
you. After we got suspended, I went home and told him I wouldn't do it
anymore, so he told my dad and well...you know what happened after that."
He breathed a sigh and looked down at his feet. He was too ashamed of
himself to look Jules in the eye.

"I don't know what to say Jacob. I knew you liked me, and I wish you would
have told me. I had a crush on you since the day we met and became
friends. I would have kept your secret. Your actions can't be forgiven, if
you loved me like you say you do, you shouldn't have allowed this to
happen"

"I don't want your forgiveness, I can't even forgive myself. You can't hate
me more than I hate myself right now. I'm so sorry Jules, I'm sorry I was a
pussy and couldn't stand up to my dad and brother and I'm sorry I did this
to you" he said behind tears.

Jules thought for a moment before speaking again.

"So I hear you're going to this camp out in the wilderness somewhere."

"Yeah, your dad set it up, but I don't know why. According to everyone, he
is a really scary guy"

"Yeah, he can be scary"

"Will you thank him for me?" he asked with his eyes still cast towards the
ground.

"Sure, I'll tell him...and Jacob," he said causing Jacob to look in his
eyes "you can write to me and let me know how you're doing." Jacob nodded
as tears started to fall from his eyes again. Jules turned and walked back
to the SUV and was followed by his guards. Before getting in, he turned to
look back at Jacob, and noticed he was still watching him. He got in the
vehicle next to Damian and left.

***************************

Everything seemed to calm down after the trial was over. The news coverage
dwindled and the phone slowly stopped ringing with requests for
interviews. Weeks had passed and Jules was healing just fine. The doctor
even cleared him to start running again. Even despite his month-long
absence from school, Jules still never missed an assignment and his 5.0 GPA
was still in tact.

He still received gifts from Christian and even went on a few more dates
with him, in spite of Aiden's disapproval. The relationship between father
and son was starting to look up as well; Stellan had made it a point to
spend a lot of time alone with Jules, trying to compensate for the time
lost while he was away mourning his wife. Jules knew it was a matter of
time before his dad would have to go off on another work assignment, but
Stellan promised never to be gone long, and to always check in.

Former officer Jason West was still on the run. Stellan's crew had his
movements restricted but they still couldn't get a lock on his exact
location. Former Officer West had made some friends who were doing a good
job of hiding him, but those friendships were fading, and his freedom was
coming to an end.

The day had come for Damian to go back home, and Jules was not very happy
about it. They never did well when they had to leave each other, but this
time it was particularly hard on the both of them. Jules had no idea what
he was going to do after he left; Damian is the only one who could calm him
down after he had a nightmare or panic attack. He was just going to miss
having his best friend, his brother around.

On Damian's last day, the kids took him out to breakfast and an early movie
before dropping him off at the airport. Damian held Jules's hand the whole
time, just wanting to be as close to his best friend as possible before he
had to leave. He made sure Jules was physically and emotionally ready to go
back to school the next day. After leaving the movie theater, Damian pulled
Aiden aside to have a private conversation with him. "I'll take care of
him, don't worry." Aiden said.

"I hope so because I don't trust anyone else when it comes to him."

"He has Amy and DeMarco too; we'll look out for him"

"Amy is great and so is DeMarco" Damian said "but they don't love him like
you do."

"They love him just as much as I do."

"Don't play stupid with me!" Damian snapped. Aiden was nervous by his tone
and took him seriously. "You are in love with him and don't think that I
don't know. Your sister and I have been talking about it. Are you going to
tell him?"

"I don't know, I tried but couldn't get it out. I don't want to ruin our
friendship"

"He's idolized you since we were little. The only thing that can ruin your
friendship is if you don't tell him."

"Amy says I've been kind of obvious about it. I'm surprised he hasn't
noticed already."

"Jules may be one of the smartest people in this country, but he is dumb in
love. Protect him and keep a watch over him. I can't see him go through
another tragedy like this."

"I promise to take care of him" Aiden said sincerely.

"You better!" Damian said just as sincerely. He didn't need to make any
threats. Damian would never outright threaten him, but Aiden took those two
words very seriously. He has known Damian a long time, and even though
Aiden is a big strong jock and bigger than him, there was something about
Damian that scared him.

They drove Damian to the airport, and after tearful goodbyes, the kids
headed back to the Barrett residence. Jules had a lot of things on his mind
during the drive home; he was scared about having to deal with his new
nightmares and panic attacks alone. He was nervous about how things were
going with Christian. He started to wonder how Jacob was doing even though
he knew he shouldn't care, and he was worried about going to school the
next day. After he got home, he said bye to his friends and promised to
meet DeMarco in their usual spot. The kids left in their separate cars.

Once Jules got in the house, he settled down in the family to watch some
cartoons: his cell phone rang. He looked at his phone and the caller ID
read Connor Brixton. Conner was Christian's best friend. He and Jules
always got along, and he was the one that informed Jules of Christian's
true intentions. Since Jules and Christian broke up, Connor would still
call or email Jules just to chat and catch up with one another.

"Hey Connor, what's up?"

"Hey Jules, I just wanted to call and see how you are doing. I saw the news
on the trial but didn't know it was you until I read a newspaper article
where they printed your name." Connor said.

"I'm fine man. Thanks for asking, though. I'm surprised Christian didn't
tell you, I've seen him a lot since it happened." Jules said.

"Well there's something I need to tell you about Christian."

"Oh shit," Jules thought to himself "not again!"

(Author's Note)

I'm glad Jules decided to hear Jacob out and even told him to write him
about his progress. Now I wonder what Connor has to say about Christian,
and why is he again informing Jules about Christian when Christian is
supposed to be his best friend. Isn't that against `Guy Code'?
