Disclaimer: This story is fictional.  Some of the things that happened or
will happen with Mikael and Nick are bits and pieces of my life.  Parts of
the character are fictional as well. All other characters were made up and
any similarities are just coincidental.  This is gay romance between

It Has Always Been You - Chapter 13 - Nick In Denial

Welcome sunshine! On this morning Nick was feeling delighted, perky, happy,
full of life. He was grinning waking up, thinking of the events that had
happened last night between Mikael and Drake. It gave him a sense of energy
to last throughout the day. He was so full of himself and every step he
takes, his walk was bouncier than ever.

He was to meet with Amy today for `couple-time', as suggested by her. If he
had the choice he'd rather have `couple-time' with Mikael or just stay at
home thinking of ways to get Mikael back. But he could not do that. No
matter what, Amy was still his girlfriend. And as much as he wanted to
spend his time with Mikael, he still had to give time to Amy.

All this would not have happened if not for Mikael urging him to pursue Amy
when he found out that he liked her. She was one of the popular girls in
school, sure to have many boys that tried to court her. Mikael was the one
who said kind words to her in regards to Nick, as Amy was his friend.

He looked at the time. It showed 9:00AM. He better get ready as they were
supposed to meet in town at 10:00AM. He wore what he thought was
appropriate for the day as he wanted to look good for her. So he had on
black Levi's 501 jeans, blue flannel shirt and blue Vans. Looking at
himself in the mirror for one last time, he set his hair proper and left
the house.

They had decided to meet in front of a sandwich shop to have breakfast
there. She was already standing in front of the shop wearing a pencil black
skirt top with loose cutting flowery dress that was quite transparent as
everyone around could see her bra. He did not like it at all. But she was
so self-confident that she did not consider his opinion on the matter at
all.

Ever since he dated Amy, he had known her as brazen, overly confident, self
absorbed, yet beautiful. She could be a bit clingy at times and Nick
sometimes felt suffocated. She would be dangling from his arm like a monkey
from a tree branch...hehe.

They were having breakfast, a couple of sandwiches, a club sandwich for
Nick and a Tuna Decker for Amy and both drinking latte. The conversation at
the table was rather mundane with Amy doing most of the talking. Nick tried
to be a good boyfriend and just listened to her. Amy was talking and
talking that she did not notice how quiet Nick had become. She did not even
notice how many times Nick had rolled his eyes.

At that moment Nick was thinking about what he had done to his guy,
Mikael. He was not really sure what he wanted from Mikael. Was it
friendship that he had lost or something more personal? He still wanted
them to be mates again and as far as he was concerned they had somehow been
drifting apart after the fighting incident and with Drake in Mikael's life.

Nick wondered if he was jealous of their relationship or something
else. And with the look of things yesterday, they're cracked in that
relationship. It brought a smile to Nick's face.

Once in a while, he looked at Amy who was still talking and nodded his head
as though he heard and agreed with what she was saying. But for sure, he
did not understand most of what was being said.

Finally, Nick heard silence around the table. No more chirping of Amy's
voice. The silence was a pleasant sound for once. He slowly looked up and
saw Amy staring at him with a frown on her face.

"What?" Nick asked her.

"Are you alright? You seem to be lost in space and for the last 15 minutes
you have not said a single word to me. Your silence does bother me a bit."
Amy tried to get an answer from him.

"Eh, nothing... I was listening to you, alright?" Nick stuttered. "Well if
you're done, shall we go off towards the cinema for our movie?" Nick
quickly suggested the move before Amy could say anything.

During the whole time courting each other, there were times where they
would be lovey-dovey, giving each other kisses and occasional hugs. They
also had gone all the way with sex. Was it their best moment as a couple?
Maybe for Amy, but not so much for Nick. Ever since he knew how Mikael felt
towards him, he had been thinking deeply of the things Mikael said to
him. He was shocked? Yes; Angry? Not so much; Disgusted? Not at all. All
the mean things he did and said to Mikael were just an act. He had to
maintain his reputation of being a straight guy and was not sure if he ever
intended to give the wrong signals to Mikael. He was just being a best
mate.

Amy and Nick had strolled along the pathway, passing a lot of shops and
boutiques. She would pull Nick into some shops for a look around, without
ever intending to buy anything and it frustrated Nick. He did not see the
point of doing it. For now, he just wanted to reach the cinema and watch
the bloody damn show and have some peace and quiet.

When they reached the cinema, Nick, without wasting more time, went to the
counter, bought the tickets, pulled Amy to the snack counter and bought her
a pack of popcorn and a drink. Then into the theatre, pick their seat and
plunked into them.

Amy was flabbergasted with the way Nick was acting. She was not sure why he
was in such a hurry and what she notices most is that they seldom talked
with each other on this date. It's more her talking and him
listening. Yeah, they do hold hands while walking with Nick sometimes
kissing her on the forehead. It's more of an action rather passion. He
seems like he wants this date to end as fast as possible.  She wanted to
confront Nick, but she holds back as she did not want to ruin the date.

In the theatre, they sit down with their fingers intertwined with each
other. Occasionally digging in the bag of popcorn to eat and drink the
soda. Amy took the opportunity to lean her head on Nick shoulder and gently
rubbing Nick arm with her free hand. Nick never reacted to any of this and
just stared straight at the screen, watching the show.

Nick actually felt uncomfortable with all the clingy closeness and
touching. He wanted to push Amy away, but he knew it wasn't the right thing
to do. He did not want to spoil the night out, but he felt so... hmm.

His mind right now was on Mikael. He wanted to call him couple of times. He
wanted to hear his voice. He wanted to do so many things with
him... but... Amy... hmm.

No matter what, for tonight he had to give Amy his full attention so as to
not have her suspect anything was wrong. So he did the next best thing. He
lifts his arm and held around Amy's shoulder to pull her closer to him and
kiss her cheek lightly and then concentrate back on the movie.

After the movies, they went for a romantic dinner at a restaurant nearby
the theatre. Then they headed home to Amy's place. Entering the house, she
immediately pulled Nick in for a kiss. It gets deeper with time with their
tongues colliding to amplify the kiss. Slowly they made their way to Amy's
bedroom without stopping the kiss. They entered and went for the bed.

Amy's parents were not around at the moment. They were out for a dinner
themselves. Lying on the bed, Amy began to explore Nick's body with her
hands. And Nick was doing the same with cupping her breasts with his
hands. Amy began to part their kiss and went for Nick's neck, kissing it
every so often. But when Amy wanted to unbutton Nick's pants, he suddenly
stopped her and pulled away from her.  She was shocked in disbelief by his
action. She went near him to try again. Yet he still pushed her away.

"Amy, please stop! Sorry, I can't do it." Nick said almost pleading with
her.

"But why, Nick? Did I do something wrong?" Amy's eyes began to water and at
any moment, tears were sure to fall down.

"Sorry Amy. I am just tired. Please? Can we do it some other time, but not
today?" Nick was not really sure what he was saying. How can he reject her?
She was his girlfriend after all and this is not the first time they ever
did it. Why?

He and Amy knew the night had been ruined. He slowly stands up to
leave. Amy seeing Nick walking away, rushed to him to hug him. He looked at
her, gave her a long passionate kiss while mouthing the word sorry and left
the house.

Nick could not believe he did this to Amy. He was not sure what had
happened. All the time he spent with Amy, his mind was
distracted... MIKAEL!

He could not block Mikael out of his thoughts. It got stronger every day
without him realizing it. He had to make a decision... Amy or Mikael?
Hmm...
