It's a small world

Idi's Pov

I awoke in bed alone as I have done so many times before. Hatan likes to
get a head start in the gym so I expected this. I groan as I sit up in bed
due to the bruises. I wince as I look over towards the alarm clock.

Damn. I see that it's noon and I have class at one. I am going on my junior
year of college headed towards a degree in sociology. I was accepted into
Florida State University after receiving my AA degree last year, but I
decided to stay once I met Hatan.

I don't regret my decision because I choose with my heart instead of my
brain. I also know that Hatan would have done the exact same thing for
me. I can't help but to admit that I do wonder what would have happened if
I had left.

I stumble back our bathroom and prepare to get ready. It takes me about a
half an hour to get ready and I am in my BMW by 12:30. I get to my class
just in time as the professor starts to go over our syllabus.

We are realized from class at 2:30 and I realize that I missed
breakfast. As I am headed towards the cafeteria I receive a text from my
best friend. "I'm hungry. Feed me" Honestly I am surprised that he is even
up at this hour.

I text back "Headed to the café you should come on campus and join me."
I make my way to the Nature's table line and order a grilled chicken
Panini, a small Caesar salad, and a chocolate smoothie.

By the time I receive my food and reach an empty table I see a petite
figure moving towards me rapidly. Before I can open my mouth he sits on the
opposite side of the table and looks at me pleadingly.

`No.' I say. His eyes start to mist over and he sticks out his bottom lip
making it quiver. `You're too old to act like this.' I state with a
sigh. He doesn't let up, and I let out another aggravated sigh. `Fine!' I
say pushing the pushing my tray of food towards him while getting up to
order my meal... again.

Once I receive the same meal yet again, with the exception of a blueberry
smoothie since they had run out of chocolate, I go back to the
table. `You're just one old ass child you know that.' He just smiles at me,
and I feel a bit of envy.

He is stunningly gorgeous although I doubt that he even knows
it. Everything from his beautiful brown skin, to his petite figure. I
wonder why he chooses to hang out with me. He is a couple of years older
than I am, and a lot better looking.

`What are you doing up this early anyway I normally only see you at night?'
His smile kind of turns into a snarl. `Someone woke me up this morning and
I couldn't go back to sleep.' I shake my head and sigh. `Was it another
client Attis?'

He doesn't answer immediately, he just stares at me intensely. `Don't ask
questions when you know that you wont like the answer.' I draw back as if
he had struck me. `Why do you still do that job when you have a stable
income?' I ask persisting.

`Why do you have a large bruise on your face?' He asks. I'm slightly
offended by this comment and reply `I don't think that is any of your
bus...' I stop when I realize that I have contradicted myself. His gaze
softens and we change to a lighter subject.

That's one thing that I appreciate about Attis. At times he may seem a bit
cold and callous, but he always shows me respect. When my relationship with
Hatan turned violent Attis told me that he was not happy about it, but that
it was my life and he won't tell me how to live it.

I immediately respected him for it. I just wish that he would open up to me
a little more. We've been best friends for six years and he still refuses
to speak with me about several aspects of his life. I guess that it is his
option. I just hope that he knows that I care about him.

Halfway through our meal we hear a rather heated argument coming from just
outside of the building. Attis, being the ever nosey person that he is,
looks intently outside of the window right beside him.

Curious I glance outside of the window at two people looking as though they
are going to fight. I assume that the larger guy was bullying, but after
watching a little longer I see that I am wrong. I see the small, well still
bigger than Attis, guy reach up and push the big guy on the face.

I miss what happens next because my phone rings, but judging by the gasps
the bigger guy doesn't take that too well. I see that it is Hatan calling
and answer immediately. `Hello'. `I thought that you said that your class
ends at 2:30?' `It did.' `Then why aren't you home?' `I'm at lunch with
Attis. I'll...' `Get home now'. Before I can answer he hangs up on me.

`Attis I have to go.' I say throwing my remaining food away. He immediately
turns from the window and judging by the look on his face he wants to
question me, but I know that he won't. I am right and he gives me a curt
nod of acceptance.

`Call me later.' He says and I nod. He always says that when I have to
leave abruptly. The ride home passes relatively quickly and I am home by
3:30. When reach the front door I realize that I am shaking. I love Hatan,
but his mood is very unpredictable.

I slide my key into the slot slowly and try to take a careful breath. Okay
Idi have you done anything wrong? Did you make the bed? Is there food in
the fridge? Did you buy the protein shake mix? All of the answers seem to
be correct, but I am still nervous.

`H...hello?' I ask trembling while locking the door, and going over my list
of necessities again. I hear a noise coming from our dining room and
slowly. What I see surprises me. Hatan is sitting at our dinner table with
my favorite meal prepared.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo, Caesar salad, and sparkling juice because I
don't drink alcohol. The only thing that seems out of place is his facial
expression. He usually tanned skin was now a bright red, and he looks as
though he is trying to contain his anger.

`Sit down.' He says in a none to friendly voice. I move my trembling legs
to the other side of our large, six man fitting, table. Hatan picks up his
fork and starts to eat from his plate. Before he has the chance to speak I
pick up my fork as well and start to eat.

Hatan NEVER cooks so I made sure to eat. Surprisingly the food is cold, why
would the food be. My blood runs cold. How could I be so stupid I think as
I place my fork down and wait for the inevitable.

`What's wrong? Don't you like my cooking?' I don't look up from my plate. I
deserve what I get. `You know I felt so bad about what I did to you last
night that I cut my training short to come and make you lunch.' He stops
and stabs a piece of iceberg lettuce so hard that the plate rattles.

I can't bring myself to speak as my breath catches in my throat. This is
all my fault. He went out of his way for me and I ruined it. I deserve what
I get. `I came home at two, and I pulled out one of your cookbooks to learn
how to make this shit. And where were you?'

He no longer attempts to hide his anger as he looks at me with pure
rage. `You were out with that little whore you call a best friend! You told
me that you'd be home by three!' He says slamming his fist into the plate
sending his fork crashing to the ground. I deserve what I get.

I jump at the sudden slam and let out a small whimper. I am such an idiot!
All I had to do was call him and I would have avoided all of this. I
deserve what I get. `Idi!' He yells running his hard, callous hands through
his lengthy blond hair gently at first and then yanking it rather
roughly. I deserve what I get.

`I am trying so hard with you, but you...you are just trying to piss me
off!' He says slamming his fist into the table once again. I jump once more
and my heart rate increases greatly. My eyes start to water and I lose all
control of my trembling body. I deserve what I get.

`What do you have to say?' He asks as if he already knew the answer and
takes a drink of his glass of sparkling juice. I finally find my voice and
say `I...I'm sorry.' His glass shatters in his hands as blood, glass, and
sparkling juice scatter across the table. I deserve what I get.

I jump from my chair and huddle against the nearest wall as I hear a loud
crash above my head. I feel cold Caesar dressing and fettuccini noodles
fall on me. I start to cry as I huddle into a ball and close my eyes. I
hear the painful sound of him getting out of his chair. I keep muttering to
myself I deserve what I get.

Author's note: Hey it's Mack again. I hope that you liked the chapter, I
worked really hard on it. Especially at the abuse scene. I want to start
off by saying that I do not in any way condone abuse and if you are in an
abusive, physical/verbal/emotional, relationship you should seek help
immediately.

With that being said I would greatly appreciate any
questions/comments/concerns that you may have relating to any of my
stories. I respond to all emails and I am grateful to have such great fans
out there.

If you are interested in science fiction I encourage you to read my other
stories element and mate. If you prefer more realistic stories I encourage
you to read my third story heartbroken found in the high school section.

I hope that this chapter was to your liking and the next chapter (Lavani's
Pov) should be posted later this week. Also don't forget that nifty needs
your donations.

Love Always

Mack
