Judgment Error- Chapter 12
by: Chip Dyp

I sat at my computer, surfing the web. I had been swimming quite a lot
lately, and my muscles were aching. My session with the therapist earlier
that morning had gone fairly well. She was helping me deal with Stefan and
everything he had done to me.

There was a knock at the door and Rob poked his head into the room before I
could answer. "Hey man. How'd your session with Dr. Wallace go?"

	"Not too bad."

	"She's a fox, man. I'd do her."

I looked at Rob and shook my head. "She's almost old enough to be your
mom, man. That's fucking gross."

"I know man, but she's still fine."

I quit Netscape Navigator, and shut down the computer. Rob was drenched in
sweat and was covered in dust. "You just finish work?"

"Yeah, mowed the lawn at the city cemetery today. Lotta fucking grass
there, and I swear it grows a couple inches a week."

"Awww, it's probably just growing so much to piss you off."

"No doubt. You want to do something tonight?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. You want to do something?"

"I don't know man. It's so fucking hot out there."

"Why don't you invite some people over and we can party out by the pool?"
I asked. I didn't really know all that many people. The one thing that the
therapist suggested was getting to know my classmates better. She said that
if I could overcome the initial fear and uncertainty that they may have, I'd
have an easier time at school.

"Are you sure you're up for it?" Rob asked. I could tell he was concerned
after what had happened at Jennifer Wilson's house.

I smiled and looked at Rob. "Yeah, let's do it. You'll have to shower
first though, man. You reek."

Rob pulled off his t-shirt and tossed it at me. "Just the smell of a real
man."

I dodged the shirt and laughed. "A real man who needs a shower."

"Can I grab a quick shower here?" Rob asked, retrieving his sweat soaked
t-shirt.

"Yeah, go ahead. I hope you brought some extra clothes with you. Somehow,
I don't think you'll fit into my clothes."

"Thanks man, I've got a change of clothes in my bag. I wasn't sure if it
was gonna rain tonight or not. Wanted to be prepared."

Rob walked out of the room and into the bathroom. I heard the shower start
shortly after. Secure in the knowledge that Rob could operate the shower I
walked upstairs and made sure that it was okay with my parents to have a
bunch of people over. I didn't think it would be a problem. If anything
else, they'd be more than happy to have people over here so they could keep
an eye on things. Ever since they had found out about Stefan, they had been
a tad protective. It was almost stifling.

"Hey mom," I called out. "Mom!"

Mom came down the stairs, carrying the vacuum. "What?"

"Can I have some people over to go swimming tonight?"

My mom put the vacuum down and pulled the bandana from her head. "Sure.
So, who are you going to invite over?"

"I don't know. Rob's gonna invite the people."

"All right, just no drugs, alcohol or other funny business."

"Yes, mom. Can Rob stay for supper tonight?"

"Yeah, we're just having pizza. I'll just order one more."

"'Kay, thanks." I kissed my mom on the cheek and walked back down the
stairs. As I reached the bottom, I heard the shower stop. As I walked down
the hallway to my room, the bathroom door opened and a naked and dripping
Rob walked out of the bathroom.

"Oh Jesus!" Rob exclaimed before diving back into the bathroom and closing
the door.

I started laughing and knocked on the bathroom door. "You can come out,
Rob. I have seen a penis before."

"You scared me," Rob said from behind the door. "Can I get a towel?"

"Yeah, just a second." I walked upstairs to grab the basket of towels that
my mom had washed earlier that morning. I dropped the basket outside the
door and knocked. "There's a basket of towels outside the door. Help
yourself." I walked back into my room and shut the door. I didn't want Rob
to feel uncomfortable. I knew a lot of straight guys had problems with
being naked around me in particular and gay guys in general. I didn't
really care, just as long as Rob didn't try anything.

Rob opened the door to my bedroom and walked in. He was wearing a pair of
tight white briefs and nothing else. He had a lot of fine brown hairs
covering his legs and arms, and just a sprinkling on his pecs and abs. Rob
was towel drying his hair when the towel slipped from his hand. I watched
as he bent over, giving me a very nice view of his beautiful, muscular butt.
But it was doing nothing for me. I wasn't turned on, I wasn't aroused, I
wasn't interested.

As I sat on the bed contemplating this alarming revelation, Rob looked over
his shoulder and smiled at me. "Enjoying the view?"

"It's nice," I replied, shrugging my shoulders and smiling.

Rob smiled and stood. "Thanks. So how many people did you want to invite
over?"

I shrugged my shoulders and just shook my head. "I don't know."

"Okay," Rob replied, pulling his t-shirt over his muscular pecs. "Is ten
too many, too few or just right?"

	"That sounds about right."

"'Kay ten people. Can I borrow your phone?"

"Yeah, go nuts. Oh, did you want to stay for supper? We're having pizza."

"Sure. I've got to go grab my trunks though."

"'Kay." I listened as Rob called three or four people and invited them to
my house. I lay on the bed, trying to imagine what it would be like to have
sex with Rob, but I just couldn't do it. Every time I fantasized about Rob,
I couldn't see him and I having sex. The fact was I couldn't get aroused
thinking about anyone.

	"Ian," Rob said again louder.

I shook my head and looked over at Rob. "Uh, yeah."

"I've invited the people. You want to come with me? My parents would like
to meet you."

	"Why?" I asked suspiciously.

"They just want to meet you," Rob said with a shrug. "Don't worry, it's
nothing bad. I mean, they do know what happened up at the cabin, but they
really don't care if you are gay."

"Okay, let's go," I said, rolling off the bed.

I followed Rob out to the old truck that he was driving. I hopped into the
passenger seat and rolled down the window. Rob slapped the faceplate of his
stereo back into place, and started the old truck. The vibrations from the
geriatric motor shook the dirty bench seat as the music poured from the
almost new car speakers.

The truck lurched backwards as Rob put it into gear. "Man, I've gotta get
that fixed," Rob said with a grin.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "It's probably a good thing that I
didn't eat a big lunch."

"Probably. So, are you ready to head back to school?"

"There's still three weeks. I plan on enjoying my last three weeks of
vacation."

Rob nodded and drove into a driveway. "C'mon man. Time to go meet my
parents."

"Why do I feel like I'm walking to my doom?"

"I don't know. If you don't want to meet them right now, you don't have
to. You will have to eventually meet them. My mom teaches grade 12 English
to almost everyone."

"Ah, so sucking up now would be a good thing?"

Rob laughed. "Sucking up doesn't work. Mom failed my older brother's best
friend."

I laughed. "I'll bet he was shocked."

"Yeah, he wasn't too pleased." Rob said, opening the door. "Mom, I'm
home."

"How was your day?" Rob's mom said as she walked out of the kitchen in an
apron. "Who's your friend?"

"We mowed the lawn at the cemetery today, so it sucked. Mom, this is Ian.
Ian, this is my mom."

Rob's mom's smiled wide, and looked at me with renewed interest. "It's a
pleasure to meet you, Ian."

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Mrs. Ridel."

"So what are you boys up to?"

"Ian invited me over for supper tonight, and then he's having some people
over to go swimming."

"Will his parents be home?" Rob's mom asked suspiciously.

"Yes, they will be, Mrs. Ridel," I replied.

"I guess it's all right then. You're going to have Ian over for supper
some time, Rob," Mrs. Ridel said before turning to me. "Mr. Ridel and
myself would like to get to know you better."

	I smiled and nodded.

"C'mon Ian," Rob said pulling on my arm, "I want to show you my room."

As soon as we were upstairs, Rob laughed and ushered me into his room.
"Sorry about that. I didn't think she'd be quite that enamoured with you."

"Enamoured? Man, I think she thinks I'm radioactive or something."

"Nah, she likes you. I think your hair threw her."

"So, did she really not know who I was?"

"Nah, I think she was just trying to appear non-threatening or something."
Rob dumped his clothes into a hamper, and grabbed a pair of trunks out of
his dresser.

"Ahhhh, non-threatening. Sort of like a mother lion guarding her cubs?"

"Yeah, something like that. Don't worry about it, man. It's cool."

I nodded and shrugged my shoulders. "Okay, I won't worry. Nice room, by
the way."

	"Thanks. Should we go?"

	"Sure, let's go."

I led the way downstairs with Rob close in tow. When we got downstairs,
there was a very tall, very handsome man in the doorway.

"Hi, dad," Rob said grabbing his shoes. "Ian, this is my dad. Dad, this
is Ian."

"The Ian from the lake?" Mr. Ridel asked, loosening his tie.

	"Yeah, that Ian," Rob replied.

"Pleased to meet you, Mr. Ridel," I said, offering my hand.

Mr. Ridel took my hand and squeezed it tightly. "It's always a pleasure to
meet Rob's friends. Rob told me what you said at Jennifer's party. Have
you had any other problems?"

"No, actually I haven't had any problems. Everyone has been fairly
normal."

"Well, that's good. In a small town like this, who knows how some of the
rednecks will react?"

"I'll see you later, Dad," Rob said grabbing my arm. I looked over at Mr.
Ridel and smiled.

"You boys have a good night," Mr. Ridel said. He walked past us, and up
the stairs.

I pulled on my sandals and followed Rob out the door. I thought about what
Rob's dad had said. What if someone tried to do what Stefan did to me?

Almost as if he was reading my mind, Rob spoke. "Ian, if things change and
people start hassling you at school about being gay or getting raped or
anything, let me know. I'm not going to let anyone hurt you."

"You don't have to do that, Rob."

"Sure I do. I don't like people bullying others. It pisses me off."

"Aren't you afraid that people will say that we're going out or something?"

"Nah. I mean, I know I'm straight and my girlfriend knows I'm straight, so
it doesn't really matter what everyone else thinks." Rob paused and looked
at me. "How did your friends deal with it in Toronto?"

"They didn't really. I mean they all knew I was gay, and it changed a few
things. They were really uncomfortable undressing in front of me, and they
avoided talking or joking about sex with me. I mean, I wasn't expecting
them to talk about cute guys or anything, but they wouldn't even joke about
things like they used to. But they also weren't making my life a living
hell."

	"Did the changes bother you?"

"Yeah, they did bother me a little bit. But I've gotten over it."

There was quiet as we drove past the Wal Mart. Rob glanced at me and then
back at the road. He looked over at me, grinned and looked back at the
road. He did that a couple more times, his grin getting bigger every time.

"What?" I asked, once I was overwhelmed with curiosity.

"So, who do you have the hots for?"

	"No one."

"Awww, come on. You can tell me."

"There's no one, honest," I replied with a smile.

"Are you trying to tell me that you don't fantasize about anyone?"

"I haven't fantasized about anyone since, well, since I ended up in the
hospital."

	"Oh, Ian, um--"

	"Don't worry, Rob. It's okay."

"I didn't mean to bring up something painful."

"Nah, don't worry about it. I just don't really fantasize about anyone in
particular, I sort of create someone."

	"That's cool."

Rob drove into the driveway and turned off the truck. The engine wheezed
to stop, and both of us slipped out of the truck. I led the way into the
house, ducking out of the hot sun. I pulled off my sunglasses once I was
safely in the house and walked into the kitchen.

"When's supper?" I asked my mom.

My mom looked up from the paper and smiled at me. "It'll be here in about
15 minutes." When Rob walked into the kitchen my mom smiled at him. "Hello
Rob, how is working for the city?"

"It's not too bad, Mrs. Reynolds. Kinda monotonous, but the money is
good."

"So where were you working today?"

I zoned out and walked over to the fridge while my mom interrogated Rob. I
grabbed a can of diet Dr. Pepper and looked over at Rob. "Hey, you want
something to drink?"

"Sure. Do you have Pepsi or Coke?"

"Uh huh," I grabbed a can of Coke out of the fridge and tossed it across
the kitchen to Rob. "You want something, mom?"

"I'll have a Fresca," My mom replied, and then quickly added, "But don't
throw it."

It was too late though. The Fresca was already on the way. Rob caught it
before it got to my mom and handed it to her. "That's no fair," I pouted,
"She was supposed to catch it."

"It's not nice to throw things at your mom, Ian," Rob said with a grin.

"Do you throw things to your mom, Rob?" My mom asked.

	"No, ma'am."

I stuck out my tongue at Rob and my mom, and sat down lazily at the table.

"So, who's coming tonight?" My mom asked as Rob sat down.

"Will, Erin, Jennifer, Mark, Mark, Kristy, Cathy, and Devin." Rob looked
at me and added, "I don't think you've met Mark, Mark or Devin. I think
that everyone else was at Jennifer's party."

"I can't really remember everyone I met there. I'll probably remember them
when I see them. Will's got the night off?"

"Yeah, he's got three days off. He traded with someone who needed one of
his days off."

	"Cool."

"Ian told you that there's not going to be any alcohol and drugs, didn't
he?" My mom asked Rob.

"No ma'am, but don't worry. I'm pretty sure no one will show up with
alcohol."

"Good." When the doorbell rang, my mom grabbed her wallet and answered the
door.

"Sorry about the interrogation," I said to Rob. "She's become really
protective of me."

"Can't imagine why," Rob said with a wink.

	"Set the table, Ian."

	"Yes mom."

I got up and grabbed some plates out of the cupboard. Rob decided to be
helpful and grabbed some cutlery out of the drawer after I showed him where
it was.

Supper didn't take long. My mom called my dad down from the den and the
four of us made short work of the pizzas. When we finished supper and the
few dishes, I told Rob that I was going to change into my trunks.

"Probably a good idea," Rob said, grabbing his duffel bag. He followed me
down the stairs, and into my room.

"If you want, you can change in the bathroom," I said, grabbing my trunks
out of the dresser.

"Nah, it's okay," Rob replied, unbuttoning his shorts. I watched as they
fell to the floor.

"Uh, okay." I turned around and unbuttoned my own shorts. This was a
relatively rare occurrence. I had never had a straight guy who knew I was
gay change in front of me, let alone in the same room. As I looked up, I
saw Rob pull down his underwear in the mirror. I quickly averted my eyes,
and concentrated on getting myself dressed.

"Does my changing in here make you uncomfortable, Ian?" Rob asked quietly.

"Uh, no. I'm fine," I replied without turning around.

"Are you sure?" Rob asked again. "I don't want to make you uncomfortable."

"Yeah, I'm sure," I said turning around. Rob stood before me naked as the
day he was born. He was so beautiful. He had an all over tan, definitely
from all the time he spent outside. There was a trail of brown hair that
led from his belly button to his hairy crotch. He was definitely well hung.
"Nice. Are you going to finish changing, or are you an exhibitionist?"

Rob laughed and pulled his trunks on while I finished changing into mine.
I didn't know what Rob was doing, but being naked and vulnerable around him
really didn't bother me. I felt safe around Rob. Deep down, I felt I could
trust him.

Of course, he didn't turn me on either. Normally, I would've been popping
wood being that close to a cute naked guy. There was nothing, though. Not
a twitch, not quiver--nothing. I began to wonder if Stefan had broken
something.

I shook my head, trying to shake the depressing thoughts about Stefan and
grabbed the bottle of sunscreen off the dresser. I began applying the
lotion liberally to my arms and chest. The sun was slowly going down, but I
knew from experience, that I could burn even while the sun was setting.
When I finished all the parts that I could reach, I turned to Rob and asked
if he could do my back.

"Sure. No problem," Rob replied, taking the bottle from me.

I listened as Rob squirted the cool cream into his hand and then flinched
as I felt his bare skin against mine. I turned around, as if by instinct,
surprising Rob.

"I didn't quite finish," Rob said. "Turn around."

I turned around and closed my eyes. As Rob's hand touched me I cringed
inwardly and fought the urge to turn around. I was terrified.

"Are you all right?" Rob asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I stuttered. I opened my eyes and realized I was
shaking.

"What's wrong," Rob asked. He reached out to touch me, and I flinched
back. Rob slowly reached out again, and pulled me to him. I started crying
as Rob wrapped his arms around me. "Shhhh, it's all right, Ian. It's all
right."

Rob gently coaxed me to the bed and sat me down on the edge. He sat there,
holding me while I cried myself out. "Thanks," I said, wiping the tears
from my eyes.

"What's wrong, Ian?" Rob asked, letting me out of his embrace.

"I don't know. It's just when you touched me, it just made me really
uncomfortable."

"Because of what Stefan did to you?" Rob asked quietly.

	"Yeah, I guess."

Rob sat beside me for a while, just letting me calm down. There was a
knock at the door, and my mom poked her head in. "Ian, some people have
arrived."

I nodded my head and looked up at my mom, "We'll be right up, Mom."

"Is something wrong, Ian?" My mom asked.

	"No, nothing's wrong."

"Are you sure? You like you've been crying."

	"I'm fine mom. Honest."

"All right. I'll tell everyone that you'll be right up."

My mom pulled the door closed and left me and Rob alone. "Are you sure
that you're all right?" Rob asked. I saw his hand move to stroke my
shoulder, but it stopped and simply hung there.

"I'm all right. C'mon, let's go." I patted Rob's knee and stood up. Rob
smiled and stood behind me.

On the way out to the pool, I watched as my mom pulled Rob aside, for a
quick little chat. When I went to see what was up, they quit talking and
Rob walked over to me. "What's up?" I asked.

"Your mom wanted to find out what happened downstairs."

	"Oh."

"Don't worry, c'mon I'll introduce you to Mark and Mark."

I met a lot of cool people that night as we swam, and had a really good
time. Rob introduced me to everyone, and they all seemed to be okay with my
being gay. I talked with a lot of them one on one, and they all seemed like
really cool people.

When I went to bed, late that night, I lay there thinking about Rob and
Will. Both of them were very handsome, and I knew that if I had met them in
Toronto I'd be having fantasy after fantasy, but it wasn't happening. I
couldn't get aroused, no matter how much I pulled and stroked my cock. I
gave up on my efforts and thought more about them.

I had never had a friend like Rob or Will. They were both closer to me
than any of my friends in Toronto had ever been. I knew I was lucky to have
found them. I closed my eyes and eventually drifted to sleep.

Continued.
