Aaron and Skip were looking back on the previous three years, that had
become friend in their freshman year and after going through all the trials
and tribulations since then they sat and had many stories that they shared,
they were just several days away from starting their senior year, and were
both looking forward to another unforgettable year together, they had
helped each other through the rough times, helped each other with homework
when one or the other were having problems. their love for each other had
grow as well as both of them. Aaron was now 6 foot tall and was a strapping
young man, he had filled out and was very proud of his body as was Skip.
Skip and not really grown much but was a little taller, he had not gained
any weight and that was the one thing that Aaron was very uneasy about.

The boys were sitting in Skip's room as they had done many times in the
past, skip was sitting at the computer and was just searching the web.

Aaron walked up behind and bent down and kissed Skip on the cheek and asked
what was going on.

Skip looked at the time and it was going on 9:30, he smiled at Aaron and
said that he was tired and was thinking about going to bed.

Aaron said that was fine with him, and that he would help Skip get
undressed and then they could get into bed, As Aaron was undressing Skip he
noticed that he seemed to be lighter than before. He got Skip undressed and
then told him he was going to go to the kitchen and get a snack and asked
if he wanted anything.

Skip looked up at Aaron and said that he was not hungry, but for him to go
get something, he would wait until he came back to go to sleep.

Aaron went out and closed the door behind him, He went into the living room
and asked if he could talk to Skip's parents.

They both turned and asked what was on his mind.

Aaron said that he was worried about Skip, it seemed like he was losing
weight, and he also noticed that he has not been eating much at any meal,
and the he was concerned that he may be getting sick or something. He said
that it was something that he wanted to mention to them and maybe they
could take him to the doctor for a check up.

Skip's Parents both expressed their concern and said that they would make
an appointment to take him in tomorrow.

Aaron asked if they wanted him to go along.

They both agreed that Skip might feel more comfortable if he was there.

Aaron went into the kitchen and grabbed a couple cookies and then headed
back to the bedroom, when he went in and got into bed he saw that Skip was
sound asleep, he leaned over and kissed him and said good night, and I love
you.

The following morning Mr and Mrs Thomas told Skip that they had made an
appointment to see the doctor for a regular check up, and that their
appointment was for 1:30 that afternoon.

Skip looked surprised, his mom and dad had never set up an appointment at
the doctors before with out letting him know a couple days in advance, He
looked at them and asked why the trip to the doctors office.

Mr and Mrs Thomas were just about to try and come up with an excuse when
Aaron walked in the room.

Aaron said I over heard that Skip has a doctors appointment this afternoon,
would you mind if I went along. I could keep Skip company while they
waited.

Skip looked at Aaron with a confused look on him face, he asked if Aaron
would follow him into the bedroom, when they got in the bedroom Skip asked
Aaron to close the door, then he asked if he was the one that told his
parents about him feeling tired and suggested the doctor visit.

Aaron sat down in the chair by the computer, he looked at Skip and said I
have never lied to you and I will not start now, yes I did, I have been
noticing lately that you seem to be getting tired very easily and thought
that you may be getting sick.

Skip was not happy and it showed on his face, he said Aaron I know that you
were only thinking of me but please next time would you mind talking to me
first, after all I am the one that has been feeling tired lately and I
should have some say in the matter.

Aaron looked at Skip and said you are right I should have said something to
you, I promise that it will never happen again. Do you forgive me?

Skip smiled and said that he understood hie concern and said I will forgive
you this time, next time please talk to me first.

Aaron said I promise, then got up and walked over to Skip and said I am
sorry and he bent down and kissed him lightly on the lips.

Skip smiled and said if you were not so sweet I think I would have to kick
your ass.

Aaron smiled and said oh good I love kinky sex.

They both started to laugh and headed back to the kitchen to have
breakfast.

The time for Aaron crawled by waiting to go to the doctor.

Skip was thinking that the time was flying by and was beginning to dread
the visit. It was not really the visit he was concerned about but more of
what the doctor would tell him.

They all loaded into the van and headed over to the doctor's office, when
they arrived they were about 30 minutes early and had to wait, Mom and dad
sat and read the newspaper, when Skip and Aaron were busy talking about the
plans they were going to make about attending the senior prom, they were
really going to go all out.

The nurse finally came out and asked Skip to follow her.

Skip asked if it would be OK if Aaron came with?

She said that that would be up to the doctor whether he could stay during
the examination.

Both Skip and Aaron followed the nurse and were taken to an room and were
told that the doctor would be in in a few minutes.

A few minutes later the doctor came in and asked Skip how he was feeling,
he looked at Aaron and said hi and shook his hand.

Skip said to the doctor this is my boyfriend and I would like hi to stay
with me.

The doctor smiled and said well I am sure you you have both seen each other
naked before and if that was what he wanted then he had no problem with
it. The doctor told Skip to get undressed and get up on the examination
table, Skip started to get up and Aaron went over and helped him get
undressed and up on the table. the doctor examined Skip and then asked him
to get on the scale. Aaron said that he did not know if Skip could stand
there by himself. the doctor said OK, then Aaron you get on the scale
first, after the doctor made a note of the weight then told Skip to get on
the scale with Aaron, the doctor noted that weight as well and then did the
math and then checked his records from several months before. He looked at
Skip and said young man have you stopped eating, you are 20 pounds lighter
now.

Skip said that he was still eating but was just as hungry as he was before,
then asked if there was a problem?

The doctor took a deep breathe and said well Skip you have pneumonia and we
need to start treatment right away before it gets worse, I would like you
to go and I will admit you into the hospital so we can begin treatment.

Skip looked very worried, he said doc can you just give me pills or
something so that I can stay at home?

The doctor said that it would be better to be in the hospital, why don't
you and your friend and parents discuss this and then we will go from
there.

Skip was determined not to go to the hospital, he knew he would get better,
so he would rather spend the time at home with his loved ones rather than
in the hospital, he was talked by his mom, dad and Aaron and they all
seemed to feel that the hospital would be the better way to go. Although
they gave Skip they well formed and similar thoughts on the matter, after
all it was Skip choice, they all hope he would choose the hospital but the
decision was made and they all headed home,

Aaron was very disappointed that Skip had decided to go home, but if was
his life and no one could lead it for him.

When they got home Ship said that he wanted to go lay down, Aaron went into
the bedroom with him and helped him get into bed, He sat and talked to Skip
and knew that it was a waste of time but wanted to voice his opinion one
again.

Skip said Aaron I know you only want what's best for me, however, you don't
know what it is like to have to just lay there in a bed and do nothing, not
have anyone to talk to. I just can't do that. I know you love me so I am
asking you to please accept my decision and allow me to do this my way.

Aaron said Skip if you want to stay home, I will accept that, I will not
try to change your mind, I will only ask that you keep it in mind and if
you change your mind i will also accept that decision as well. Deal!

Skip smiled and said well that is fine with me and if I change my mind I
will let you know.

The days went by and it was getting closer and closer to prom night,
however Aaron and Mr and Mrs Thomas, could see that Skip was not making any
progress, they had talked to him several times but Skip was very animate
about the hospital, it appeared that he was continuing to lose weight and
Aaron was becoming very concerned. As the prom got even closer it was now
obvious that Skip would not be able to attend, he was beginning to look
like a skeleton with skin wrapped around it.

Aaron finally could not take it any more, after school he walked into the
bedroom and sat down on the side of the bed, he looked at Skip who was
spending more and more time asleep, he waited for him to wake as this would
be that final time he would suggest the hospital, while he sat there he had
a flash back to the first day they met in the hallway at school when Skip

Once again I am going to ask you to go to the hospital, it has been nearly

Skip looked at Aaron with a almost incoherent stare, and said you know that
that is an unfair thing to ask, and to say it is a favor, is even more
unfair, however, I have never refused you a favor and I never will, I will
go to the hospital under one condition, that you come and visit me at least
once a day.

Aaron said Skip my love, It will be my pleasure to make that promise, I
will visit once a day from the time school get out till they through me out
at the end of visiting hours.  I will go let mom and dad know your decision
and we will get ready to take you right now.

Skip said wait a minute, if I do this it has to be on my terms, and I will
go but I want to spend one more night in bed with you, then we can go first
thing in the morning, deal.

Arron smiled and said how could I refuse the most beautiful boy I have ever
seen, deal.  I will let mom and dad know so the can be ready in the
morning, he stood and said I will be right back, he bent down and kissed
Skip lightly on the lips and said you have made me very happy. then he
turned and left the room. He went and found mom and dad sitting in the
living room, and excused himself and then told them of Skip's decision, and
they were both very relieved and said they would be ready.

Mom got up walked over to Aaron and hugged him and then kissed him on the
cheek, she said you have made me very happy, thank you.

Aaron turned around and headed back to the bedroom, he walked in and went
over and sat in the chair by the desk and he knocked out his homework fast
than he had in a long time. when he finished he got undressed and went and
closed the door and then got into to bed, he snuggled up to a now once

Skip turned and looked at him and said the prom is coming soon, I guess you
will have to find another boy to take in my place.

Skip smiled and said I am very tired and I think that I would like to go to
sleep now. he closed his eyes and was sleeping in a matter of minutes.

The following morning came and Aaron helped Skip get dressed and was ready
to go after they all had a breakfast together.

Aaron was sitting there fighting back the tears as he some hoe knew that
the medal around his neck was more than just a medal, he felt that it was a
farewell gift from Skip, it was his way of saying good-bye with out having
to say the words. He knew deep down in his heart that this would be the
last breakfast that they would share together. The prom was just three days
away and he was hoping that Skip could make it till then.

They all went out and got in the van, Aaron carefully and gently putting
Skip in the van, and then they drove away. The arrived at the hospital and
when they went in the stopped and the information desk and told them that
they were admitting Skip and that he should already have a room assigned,
the woman checked and told the that the room was number 1124. they went up
to the room and were met by the nurse and asked if they needed any help,
Aaron said no thank you. I have it under control.

Aaron help Skip get undressed and in the hospital gown and then place him
in the bed.

Mom and dad said that they had to go and fill out paperwork, and would be
back as soon as possible.

Skip looked at Aaron and said do you have to leave to?

Aaron said nope seems like you are stuck with me.

Skip smiled and said I can not think of anything better then to be stuck
with you, I am so sorry that I could not make love to you, I know that it
was something that you would really wanted to do, but I was not able to do
for you.

Aaron smiled and said we have have loved each other more and deeply then
most of the couples I know and have not had to go through all the turmoils
that they did, I do not think I could love you more then I do right now.

Mom and dad came back in and said that everything was in order and that
they would stay as long as they could.

Skip smiled and said mom and dad you have always been there for me, I have
never once said thanks, I want you to know that I have always loved you and
am very grateful for everything that you have done for me even though I
have never really said it to you.

 Dad said Skip you are now and have always been my pride and joy, I could
have never had a son that I loved more or were more proud of. I love you so
much it hurts.

Mom walked over and with tears in her eyes said Skip you have no idea what
you have meant to me all these years, you have made me so proud to be your
mother, I love you, and will always be there for you. She bent down and
kissed him gently on the lips and hugged him.

Skip said I know that I have sometimes made a fool of myself, mom, dad and
you Aaron have always been there for me, I can not tell you how much that
meant to me knowing that I was never alone. Mom and dad you are the best, I
could not have asked for anyone that would have been as good to me as you
both have been, I am so proud to have been your son. the tears were running
down his face and he was having a hard time breathing,

Mom and dad said Skip you just need to take it easy and get better, we can
talk more once you get home.

Skip asked mom and dad if they would mind stepping out for a few minutes
while he and Aaron talked, they each kissed him on the cheek and when dad
did Skipp hugged his father and said you know I have not told you very
often that I love you but I really do and with all my heart.

Mr. Thomas winked at him and said I always knew that.

Then they turned and headed out of the room.

Aaron was sitting in the chair next to the bed, he got up and walked over
and closed the door, then went back and say down, he looked at Skip and
said well what is on your mind.

Skip said you have been such a great friend and companion to me over the
past few years, I don't know why but I thank God for every minute I have
had with you, you are the light of my life and I don't know what I would
have done with out you, thank you for always being there for me.

Aaron smiled and said Skip loving you was the easiest thing I have ever
done. I could not have asked for anyone that has been as good to me and for
me as you.

It was now 2:00 on Wednesday 2 days before the prom.

Skip said Aaron I am very tired and I think that I may sleep for quite some
time, why don't you go find mom and dad and take them home and I will see
you in the morning.

Aaron stood up bent down and kissed him lightly on the lips and said if
that is what you want then I will make sure they get home safely and I will
see you in the morning. I love you Skip and always will. I will just sit
here till you fall asleep, he reached out and held Skip's hand and waited
for several minutes until Skip was lightly snoring, he again lightly kissed
him on the forehead and and then left the room and went to find mom and
dad.

They arrived home and it seemed so strange to be there and not have Skip
there. they went in and sat down in the living room and just stared at the
walls. Aaron went in the bedroom and made the bed and cleaned up.

The day went by and they were all soon in bed for the evening and all were
dreading the following morning and whatever the next day may bring their

The following morning came and they all had gotten up early and took
showers and had breakfast, mom got up and went to the phone and called the
hospital, when the nurse finally answered she asked how Skip was doing.

The nurse said that she checked on him just a couple minutes ago and he was

when he woke up.

They were all sitting around waiting for the phone to ring and the day was
slowly passing, the phone finally rang about 1:30 in the afternoon, when
she answered it the nurse said hat he had just woke up and that they were
going to give him a sponge bath and change his bedding and that would take
about 30 to 45 minutes. they all got up and went out and got in the van and
headed over to the hospital, when they arrived they went up and waited for
the nurse to finish before going into the room. It was now almost 2:30 and
they finally got in the the room and as they went in they saw that Skip
looked well rested, they all said Hi and sat and talk about everything that
popped into Skip's mind, Skip looked at Aaron and said well tomorrow is the
big day. Do you have a date yet?

Aaron said yep he is right here. they sat there and talked for hours and
when the nurse came in and said visiting hours were over and that they
would have to leave. they all kissed Skip and said their good-byes and
left. the trip home was very quiet, they all got home and went in and they
all went to bed.

Aaron woke up first in the morning and had a very strange feeling, he did
not know what it was but it was an odd feeling.

Mom and dad got up showered and had breakfast and when the nurse called at
2:45 the told Aaron and he said you go ahead I have to get dressed and I
will be up in a little while. mom and dad left and when they arrived Skip
was awake and smiling, they said that Aaron was getting dressed and would
be there in a little while,

Skip kept looking at his watch and it was getting to be about 6:00, he was
wondering if something might have happened, just then a very good looking
young man walked into the room wearing a light blue tux and looking like he
just stepped out of a dream. Skip smiled and said God you are beautiful.

Aaron said well I better it took long enough, I want to make sure that I
looked perfect just for you.

Mom and dad said well now that you are in good hands, we are going to head
home and leave you two alone. They kissed Skip good-bye and walked out of
the door not knowing if they would every see their son alive again. A
feeling that they would hold inside. All they knew was that they had not
seen him look so cheerful and happy in a long time, and they were not going
to spoil that.

Aaron said how is me love doing today?

Skip said I feel very tired.

Aaron got up walked over to the door and put the do not disturb sign on the
handle and then closed the door, when went back over and sat down, well

world to have had you. Aaron got up and kissed Skip one last time and said
Skip I will love you forever, he turned and slowly headed for the door, he
stop and said to the nurse please be gentle he has gone through so
much. the nurse stopped and smiled and said as if he were my own, Aaron
walked slowly down the hall not wanting to or hiding his tears, he went out
to the car, got in and some how found his way home, he went in side and as

The next few days were a blur for Aaron, seconds turned into minutes,
minutes into hours, he had never felt so alone, he had lost him best
friend, his companion, and most of all the person that he loved and adored,
the wake and funeral were something that Aaron made a point of making sure
that everything was just right, but was totally oblivious to, he was going
through the motions but had no idea what was going on, the several days
that Aaron went through were nothing more than what seemed to be a bad
dream. several days later mom came into the bedroom and woke him and said
Aaron it is time to go to school.

Aaron said I don't ever want to go back to school there is nothing there
for me now.

Mom said Aaron, Skip would want you to go on. She reached over and took the
medal and said did you read this, Skip gave this to you so you would know
that he would always be with you, please don't do this, you have to go on
and live, and let Skip live through your life as well.

Aaron smiled at mom and said I know but it really hurts.

it will for a while but knowing that Skip is with you will help you get
through each day one at a time. No you go show Skip that he will always be
alive in your heart.
