Subject: chapter 9 of kids will be kids

CHAPTER 9 Cameron comes clean with Grandma.

Well we finally decided to get out of our room before we ended up in
bed again. So I went downstairs to talk to my Mom about the test.
Cameron wanted to wait upstairs in the room but I made him come with
me. I almost had to drag him down the stairs. So we went into the
kitchen and my mom was sitting at the table reading the paper. "Mom,
can I talk to you for a second?" "Sure, sweetie what's up?" "Listen I
would like to know if you could schedule another aids test for me?"
"Honey you just had one last year. Your not feeling sick or have any
symptoms do you?" "No Mom but Cameron is concerned because of all the
partners that I have had over the years. So could you please call the
AID'S Clinic in St.Lukes and schedule a test for me? You never can be
sure enough about this disease." "Yes JR I will call if it will put
Cameron's mind at ease." "Thank You Maam I was just a little scared I
had no idea that JR had so many partners." "Well I can understand that
Cameron and yes JR I will call and setup an appointment for you. As
soon, as I know what day and time, I will call you and tell you. The
clinic is closed today and tomorrow but I will call Monday morning and
setup the appointment." "Thanks Mom you're the best." "Hey anything for
you and Cameron. I know you too love one another and I would do
anything for the both of you." Cameron went over and gave my Mom a hug
and then he started to cry. " What's wrong Cameron?" my mom said. "Yeah
whats wrong baby?" "I'm sorry that I am crying I just wish my Mom and
Dad were alive. I miss them terrible." He continued to cry and my Mom
motioned for me to come over and hug him also. "Hey sweetie we are here
for you 100%. What ever you need we will be here for you." "That's
right Cameron what ever you need we will get for you or just be here to
give you hugs and support." My mom said. " Mom could you do me one more
favor?" "Sure honey what ever you want. What is it you want me to do?"
"Mom could you call St.Lukes and see how Ryan is?" "Yeah sure JR as
soon as I get any information I will tell you.
"Why don't you take Cameron back upstairs for awhile and let him take a
nap. He might feel better after the nap." " Is that what you want to do
Cameron?" "Yeah, JR I could use another nap. Between seeing Ryan the
way he was and me thinking about my parents I am emotional spent. Do
you mind if I go up by myself?" "No of course not. I will come up and
check on you in awhile." "Okay JR thanks I just need to be alone for a
few minutes." " All right whatever you want to do is fine with me."
So Cameron went on up to bed for a while and I sat at the kitchen table
and talked to my Mom. "Mom what's going to happen to Cameron when he
has to move away?" "Well, dear I really am not too sure but I know
until we get ready to move he will be staying with us. His grandmother
should be coming over here today to take him to his house to get the
rest of the things that he wants out of the house before they start
showing the house to people who want to buy it." "Mom do you know when
we are going to move to LA?" "Yes dear I do. We will be moving the end
of August just before you get ready to go to school. I have already
registered you in the school out in LA. I did it through the mail."
"Oh, ok so I have a few more weeks with Cameron here with us than."
"Yes you do." In about a week or so I want you to start going through
all your closets and see which clothes don't fit you anymore and put
them in a garbage liner and I will take them to the Goodwill box at the
supermarket. And if you have any old toys that you are not going to use
anymore feel free to pack them up too and I will take them to the
orphanage." "Mom the only toy that I have left is the Teddy Bear that
you gave me when I was 5 years old and I wouldn't part with that. As a
matter of fact when I get scared I still take it to bed with me. I know
that sounds stupid for a teenager but I just love that bear." "That's
ok honey I still have my first rag doll. She sits on my dresser and
your grandmother gave it to me when I was just a little girl. And when
I was growing up I used to have talks with her. So it's not as stupid
as you think it is." "Oh Mom that's so sweet." "Yeah, well you are
sweet too." " Well Mom its been about 10 minutes or so I am going to go
up and check on Cameron and see if he is all right or not." " Honey, he
really needs your love and caring now but be gentle with him he is
really hurt. I will call St.Lukes while you are upstairs and then later
when you come down I will tell you what they told me." "Okay Mom
thanks, I love you." With that I got up and gave her a big hug. "I love
you too JR and everything will be fine." " I know Mom I am just
concerned for Cameron that's all." "He will be fine JR he just needs
sometime to heal." "All right I am going to go upstairs now, see ya
later." "OK honey." So I left the kitchen and headed upstairs to the
room to see if I could comfort Cameron. I opened the door to my room
and sleepy head had dozed off. So I gently climbed into bed with him
and just put my arm over the top of him and with the other hand I was
just rubbing his golden hair. I figured that he needs the rest so I let
him sleep. I am sure in the morning he will be glad to know that I was
sort of holding him. I love him so much I would do anything for him. I
had sex with a lot of guys before but I never loved them the way I love
him. He just lay there in bed with that cherubic face. I gave him a
peck on the cheek and went to sleep myself. Its funny I wasn't used to
having anybody sleep with me but it felt great to have Cameron in my
bed. I felt very comfortable.

There was a knock at the door. I got up to answer it and it was my Mom.
"Honey are you guys ok. You have been asleep for two hours now." "Gee,
Mom I didn't realize we were asleep so long." "Well, listen JR I called
the hospital and Ryan is not doing very well. I think it would be a
good idea if you and Cameron went to see him." "Okay Mom I am going to
wake Cameron up now. I hope he is feeling better otherwise a trip to
the hospital could make him sad again." "Well JR that's between you
guys if you think it is going to make him feel bad then don't go. The
nurse at the nurse's station told me that he has fractures of his
facial bones and a broken jaw." "Well Mom I will talk to Cameron about
it and tell him what you found out. And I will let him decide.

So I went back inside the room and got on the bed and did my usual
routine to wake him. I took my finger and started playing with his ear.
And he kept batting my finger away thinking it was fly or something.
Then I took my hand and started to ruffle his hair. Finally he opened
those beautiful blue green eyes. "Hey JR what time is it?" "It's two
hours later than it was before you went to bed. It's twelve o'clock."
"Wow I guess I slept a while then." "Yes and I came upstairs and laid
down next to you and fell asleep too. My Mom woke me up by knocking on
the door. I am surprised that you didn't hear her." "JR I was out like
a light. A bomb could have gone off in the room and I wouldn't have
heard it. However I did fell you ruffling my hair. And that's what made
me wake up." "I Love doing that to you. I even get aroused when I do
that. I don't know why it's not exactly sexual." "Well I really don't
mind JR it feels good when you do that." " Hey, listen Cameron my Mom
called St. Luke's and asked about Ryan. They told her that he has
fractures of his facial bones and a broken jaw. My Mom suggested that
we go and visit him but if you are not up to it I understand." "Well, I
suppose it would be okay to go and see him. That way he would at least
know that somebody cares." "I just don't want you getting upset anymore
that's all." "No I should be okay JR." "Well okay then do you want to
go see Ryan we can go on our bikes it shouldn't be too bad of a ride
its only cross town?" "Yeah all right it shouldn't take us too long and
I am concerned for him. I want him to know that there are other gay
teens that feel bad because of what happened to him." So we decided to
go to the hospital. We went downstairs to go and get our bikes and the
front doorbell rang. It was Cameron's grandma. Cameron saw his grandma
and ran over and gave her a big hug and kiss. "I love you grandma." "I
know you do sweetheart." "Grandma what are you doing here?" "Well
Cameron I thought that I would take you over to your house so you could
get the rest of the things that you would want." "Grandma could you do
a favor for JR and Me?" "Sure what is it Cameron?" "One of our friends
from school got beat up the other day and he is in St.Lukes Hospital.
JR and I were just headed over there to see him. Can you give us a
ride? We won't stay long we just want him to know that we care. Could
you do that for us? Then we can all go over to my house and get the
stuff that I want." " Sure Cameron anything for you." Grandma can I see
you in the other room for a minute?" "Yeah sure what's up?" So grandma
and Cameron went off into the dining room. "Grandma I have something to
tell you and I am not sure how you are going to like it." "What is it
my child. I am your grandmother I can take anything." "Are you sure,
this is pretty serious?" " What is it Cameron?" "Grandma I am gay and
JR and I are lovers." The look on his grandmother's face went from a
concerned frown to a serious look. I was hoping that everything was
going to go well. I stayed in the kitchen so I wouldn't be in the same
room when he did this. I had no idea he was going to tell her but I am
glad that he did. That way we don't have to be shy about hugging and
kissing one another in public with her. Just then I heard his
Grandmother say; " Well Cameron I guess I will have to accept that. You
are my only grandson. But I am not thrilled about it. Did your parents
know?" " No grandma I never told them." "And why is that young man?"
"Well I don't think they would approve of it. And I want to thank you
for understanding. I love you so much grandma." And then he went and
gave his grandma a big hug and kiss. "Well I would hope that you are
using protection when you have sex. I don't want to lose my only
grandson to AIDS." "It's not a problem Grandma we are careful." "Okay
then but if you ever need anything feel free to ask me. Okay we have a
deal Mr?" "Yes grandma we have a deal. I promise we will be careful."
Ok then let's get into the rental car and go to the hospital so you can
see your friend." "Cool Grandma thanks." "Hey, anything for you
Cameron, anything." "Hey JR I want you to take care of Cameron for me
ok? Be careful will you please. I can't lose him too." "Don't worry I
will take good care of him and we will be careful." "Okay then lets get
in the car and go to the hospital. Does your Mom want to go JR?" "I
will go and ask her real quick." I went into the living room my Mom was
watching TV. "Mom do you want to come to the hospital with us and
Cameron's grandma?" "No that's okay JR I think your dad and I are going
tonight when he gets home so we can talk to Ryan's Mom and Dad. But
tell her thanks anyway."

So off we went to St. Luke's Hospital. We got there and Cameron's
grandma dropped us off in front of the hospital and she went and parked
the car and said she would be in the lobby when we were ready to leave.

We went to the desk and asked for passes to see Ryan. The woman at the
desk asked us if we were family. I said;" No Maam but we are his
friends." "I am sorry boy's but Ryan can not have regular visitors yet.
Let me call up to the nurse's station and see if his parents are
upstairs. If they are maybe they could bring you up for a short visit."
So the lady at the desk was talking to the nursing station. All I heard
her say was; " yeah okay." "Boy's Ryan's Dad is on his way down to talk
to you. You can wait over in the lobby by the elevators." "Gee thanks a
lot maam." So we went over to the lobby by the elevators and sat down
waiting for Ryan's dad. It seemed like it was forever till he came
down. But just then the doors opened and I saw Ryan's dad. I had been
over his house a few times with Cameron and had dinner so I knew what
he looked like. So I stood up and put my hand out and he shook my hand.
Then he sat us down to tell us how Ryan was doing. " Well boy's Ryan is
not doing very good. He has a lot of broken bones in his face and a
broken jaw so he can't talk much. I think he would like to see you guys
but he is in and out with all the medications that they are giving him
to guard against infection. But I am sure by the end of the week he
will be in a regular room so you guys could come up and visit him. But
I will tell him that you were here today. And guy's thanks so much for
caring about Ryan. He doesn't have many friends." "Hey its no problem
Cameron and I will be back at the end of the week to see Ryan." "If he
gets better sooner than the end of the week could you call us?" Cameron
said. "Sure boy's give me your number where I can reach you and if
there is any change in the way he is I will call and leave a message
for you." "Thanks so much sir. We really wanted to see him today but
please pass on our good thoughts for him." "No problem boys and thanks
for coming over to the hospital." "The number is 555-2236.""Okay boys I
got it talk to you soon."

So we went out into the main lobby and Cameron's grandma was sitting
down talking to some other lady. " Well that was fast boy's how's your
friend." "We didn't get to see him grandma he is not allowed to have
visitors yet. But his Dad came down and talked to us." "Oh Ok will you
be coming back here this week?" "Yeah I hope so grandma. Ryan's dad
said he would call and leave a message when Ryan was in a regular
room."

"Okay boys lets get going over to Cameron's house so we can get this done
before it gets dark."  "All right Grandma whatever you say." So we left the
parking lot and headed to Cameron's house.
