Subject: Life's Expectations - Chapter 22

	Lets get this over with now: I own "Life's Expectations" and every
character in the story. There are some events that have actually happened
to me, but all the characters are fictional. If it is illegal for you to to
view this in your location, then GTFO. You're probably gonna ignore that so

	Here's chapter 22! This chapter will introduce Kale James, and will
be centered around him mostly. Mr. James, Kale's father, is one of the high
school gym teachers, for a little recap. He helped Nick out on the first
day of classes way back in chapter 3! He'll have a much more active roll in
the story.

	There is a time skip between this and the latest chapter. About a
month to be exact. Since in this story it is 2009, Halloween somehow ended
up on a Saturday, so the chapter will start on the 30th and work its way to
Halloween.

	So who want's to see Jake get hypothetically bitch slapped again?
Cause chapter 22 is about to begin!

	Chapter 22 – Second Chance


	Nick's POV

	October was a busy month for me... well for everyone really. We had
our first 'anyone who can make it' tech call. We had our annual Telethon to
raise money for the community. Gage ended up making the tech schedule for
the show. It didn't look that hard but I just saw him go off and return an
hour or so later.

	The Telethon was actually a lot of fun, even if it was work. It
started at about 11am and ended at 9pm. We didn't leave till about 11 after
everything was cleaned up. All together the day was lots of fun.

	There were even a couple of acts that I enjoyed seeing. Kyle went
on and played guitar and sang. There were some old people who do something
every year and our local ballet group. The band at the end though was
really cool. They are really good and did a bunch of covers.

	That was like 2 weeks ago now though, so lets get to whats
happening right now. I talked to Gage about Kale, Mr. James' son. Then we
talked to mom, who apparently had volunteered us for the task. She said she
knew we wouldn't have a problem with it and that we might make a new friend
in the process. I think it was mom trying to drop a hint on me. She's not
very in hiding those types of things from Gage...

	So after a bit of talking between me and my bro it was decided that
I would meet him in my early morning gym class and then he would go to
Gage's classes after that today. We have a semi complicated class system so
let me explain:

	We have four 'days' a day of school can go by. They are titled: Day
1, Day 2 and so forth. On those 'days' the classes change by rotation. We
also have a 2 semester system, so we have four classes per semester. In
semester one, on 'day' one it would go ABCD for classes.... you probably
don't get that so let me explain that too.

	A, B, C, and D stand for each of the four classes. So my Gym class
is B block, Science is C block, English is D block and Mosaic is A
block. So each 'day' these blocks change in order. So 'day' one is ABCD,
while 'day' two is BCDA, 'day' three CDAB and 'day' four DABC. Its really
simple... for me at least.

	The second semester uses the same letters but different classes. So
my second semester is Mosaic in block A, Socials – block B, French –
block C, and Math – block D. It kinda sounds like prison now that I
think about it... But ya that's how my school works like it or not.

	Back to what I was saying, I'm gonna be meeting Kale in my gym
class and from there he's gonna go to Gage's Drama class and I don't know
where else he's gonna go. He's apparently really into the whole theater
thing like Gage but just the acting side. He's willing to help out us
techies though!

	So I'm siting in the bleachers all changed up for gym and ready to
go. I mean who wouldn't want gym to be over when it's first thing in the
morning... and it's Halloween tomorrow! I haven't seen Mr. James or the
other guy, Sam says he sucks as a gym teacher.

	The final bell for class has already went, but for gym we get an
extra five minutes to change. Mr. James, A sub, and who I presume to be
Kale came into view from across the gym. The two classes were called up to
the stage that was in the gym. Mr. James spoke when everyone was calmed
down, "Hello everyone, as you can see Mr. Irwin is not with us
today. Mr. Young is subbing for him. I will be giving the marks for both
classes today, Mr. Young will be here for supervision only.

	That got a few sighs from the grade 10s, but Mr. James isn't a bad
marker so they really had nothing to worry about. "Also today, my son, Kale
will be joining you. He's 15 so there shouldn't be any problems with him
having a bit of fun. He's also going to be seeing how our school is and I
hope you show him how good of a school it is."

	The entire class said hi to Kale. Kale was pretty good looking to
say the least. His brown hair was really short, maybe an inch or two
long. For a 15 year old he had muscle on him too. Like not a lot but more
than every grade ten in the room. His green eyes scanned the room. "Hey."
Was all he said as he waved. You know... he's really not what I would
classify as a gay guy.

	Then out of no where Jake spoke up, "Now that's what I wanna be
like in grade ten!" Jake was in the back, I was in the front, I didn't even
look back at him. He was obviously gonna say something if I did. "What's
the matter Nick? Can't get enough of his muscle? To bad he's a tough
straight guy right?"

	"You should really learn when to shut up Jake." It was Sam once
again coming to my rescue. He's has gotten in trouble almost every week
cause of Jake. I don't want him to... he just does.

	"It's true though isn't it, Sammy? His muscles are bigger and
better then your boyfriend's!" Jake and his crew laughed up a storm.

	I was trying to hide my head when I heard Kale speak up again,
"Jake is it?"

	"That's my name don't wear it out!" His crew laughed again.

	"I really don't know what your laughing at. Your making fun of
people who are possibly looking at my muscles, when you have out right
stated that you like them yourself." the entire class has let out an
'oooh', "Nick, Sam, were you even looking at my muscle?"

	He doesn't even sound gay! He's got a deep voice! Deeper than most
of the guys in grade 10! He's even directed a question towards me. To which
I violently shook my head 'no'. Sam actually gave out an answer, "It's
really hard not to notice them to be honest. I wasn't looking at them like
that though."

	"That would make you wrong on two accounts, Jake."

	Jake must have had the most confused look on his face. All I heard
from him and his ignorance, that works there right, was, "Two accounts,
dude that kinda only one."

	I opened my eyes to see Kale just looking at me smiling. I guess he
must know I'm the wimpy kid who is gonna be showing him around. "I actually
thought you were kinda cute when I first saw you too... oh well."

	All the girls jaw dropped, and everyone of the guys were either
looking at Kale or Jake. "That's enough from the both of you. Grade tens
start the warm ups please." Mr. James tried to get the class moving but no
one was going anywhere.

	"What did you call me?" I don't think I've heard Jake angrier. It
actually kinda scared me.

	"I'm kidding dude... lighten up." Kale walked right right up to me
and reached out his hand, "Need help up, Nick? You are Nick right?"

	I nod and grabbed his hand. I honestly didn't do any of the
work. He lifted me up all by himself. "Thanks."

	"Well lets get a warm up going!" It was Mr. Young who clapped his
hands together and got everyone moving. The warm up was good. Kale lead it
so it was hard work. I was on the opposite side of the boy's part of the
wall from Jake. He didn't hold anything back in the warm up and even beat
Kale to the wall again a few times. Kale just shook his head.

	After warm ups were done we set up the badminton nets and got out
the equipment. Kale, Sam, Tanis and I played pairs against each other. I
finally got a chance to thank Kale, "Thanks for earlier by the way."

	"No problem, that Jake kid seamed pretty made that I told him he
was cute." Kale just smiled and served the birdie over the net. It was me
and him against Sam and Tanis. To be honest, he did more the work but I
tried.

	It wasn't long before there was only 10 minutes left in class and
we were sent to go change. Kale quickly ran up to his dad's office and
grabbed his gym bag, which I presumed to be filled with street cloths. We
ended up being the last ones to get into the change rooms.

	It appeared as if Jake was waiting for Kale to get there. He walked
up to him immediately, "I hope you were joking when you said you thought I
was cute."

	"Your right, I was." Kale turned away and took off his gym
shorts. He was wearing boxers, AC/DC ones at that. He took off his shirt
and then used a towel to get rid of all the sweat on him. When he turned
back around Jake was still there staring, "Can I help you?"

	"Ya you could answer a question: Why are you hanging around these
faggots?"

	"I really don't care if they are gay straight or bi, if they are
nice to me, I'm nice to them." Kale stood towering over Jake. Jake, who is
only a bit taller than me, and Kale who is almost 6 feet tall. It was quiet
a funny sight. "If you have a problem with any of that, I suggest you go
away."

	"Why do you protect them? They might want you dude, what guy would
want to go out with another guy?" Jake tried to look tough but Kale didn't
even flinch.

	"Jake can't you just take a break for a week?" Sam was right next
to Kale, with slightly more clothing on. "It was Nick's birthday on
Tuesday, give him a break." That's right I was having all my birthday stuff

	"I don't care who's birthday it is, or when Nick's birthday was..."

	"Just fuck off kid." Kale totally cut him off and turned away,
"Come on Sam he's not worth the breath."

	"Excuse me!?" I was talking!"

	"And no one was listening." Kale got his cloths all on with out
another word from Jake. He waited for us and then we walked up and out of
the change room. Kale put his arm around my shoulder, "You never said it
was your birthday on Tuesday."

	"I didn't make a huge deal of it anyways." We walked over to his
dad, who was on the stage, "Hey Mr. James."

	"Hello there Nick, how are you?"

	"A little sweaty."

	"That's good since you just finished gym class. I'm happy you and
your brother are willing to show Kale around. If he gets to much to handle
just send him back to me." We all shared a laugh, Kale with a little more
serious of a face than the rest.

	It wasn't long after that when the bell went and we made our way to
the cafeteria. That's where we met up with Gage. Gage and Kale hit it off,
even if they seemed different from one another. They both seemed to love
Naruto, so I guess him and Kyle have someone else to talk about it with.

	The bell went and I headed to science. Annie and Lucas were there
waiting for me, "Hey whats the plan for your birthday?" I barely sat down
before Lucas spoke.

	"I don't know... I was just thinking of having people over. I don't
know if mom will let me have many over though."

	"Then you gotta ask don't you!"

	Just then my mom and Ms. Albore entered the room. She came right
over to me. "So Nick what do you want to do this weekend?"

	"I don't know..." I, just as always, hate talking to my mom while
at school.

	"Yes you do! He's thinking of having some people over. He's just
not sure how many you'd let." Why can't Lucas be shy at the best of times?

	"Talk to me at lunch and we'll get to an arrangement." My mom then
goes back to talking to Ms. Albore. She eventually left and class
started. I stayed as quiet as I've ever been in that class.


	Gage's POV

	Today is halloween!!! One of my favorite times of the year! Right
next to Easter. That's right I said it... I like Easter better than
Christmas. At Christmas random relatives all come to our house and have
dinner as a family. That means I have to share my bed... every year. At
Easter its just better, less sharing my bed.

	Then there's Halloween. I get to dressed up as anything I want,
have people not look at me like I'm crazy and act like a goof! What more
could you ask for? The correct answer: having a make up artist as obsessed
about the holiday as you! Quin loves doing make up and even making
costumes. I bought mine online though... well as bought as mine could be.

	I ended up going as Grey Fullbuster from the manga Fairy Tail. So
all I had to buy online was his necklace, that's it. Quin got the Fairy
Tail symbol on my chest and I already had good pants for him sooo.

	Nick is an emo... goth... one of those types of people. He's got
white body paint all over him. He's got chains amongst chains on his belt
loops. And he even has make up on. He looks like such a little rebel.

	Then there is Sam. He's not dressed up at all. I don't mind that
he's not, but he has a shitty reason to not be. This is one of the weekends
that his dad is in town and he doesn't want to be seen as a 'kid' by his
dad. So here he is in my room in his normal cloths.

	Nick has like all of his friends down in the basement too. Tanis,
Isaac, Lucas, and Anthony are all down there with him. I bet they are up to
no good too. There will probably be some sexual stuff happening tonight
too. With Nick and Lucas at least.

	"When are you going trick or treating? It's just about 6pm." Sam
gets inpatient when he's been siting around forever.

	"As soon as Kale gets here. We're gonna meet up with everyone at
the school, we just have to wait for Kale."

	"Don't you have his cell number? Tell him to hurry up." See
inpatient, told you.

	"He said a few minutes five minutes ago, he'll be here soon." Sam
just groaned and then the doorbell rang.

	"There he is, lets go!" I jump up and was out of my room with Sam
shortly behind.

	I opened the door to see Kale dressed up as a nerd. It was quite
the sight. "Do I look nerdy enough?"

	"More than I would suspect." We then went off to the school. Zach
and Shane were vampires. Kyle was a member of KISS. Matt was there just to
be there like Sam. Quin and Shira were both princesses. We were gonna have
a good night.

	We spent almost 3 hours gathering candy before we called it a
night. Then we went over to Matt's and sat down. I of course shared my
catch with Sam, who picks out the ones he likes. He mostly likes the ones I
don't so.

	It was Kale who picked up the conversation. "Well I feel like a
third wheel right now." He just smiled.

	"Why, there's only one couple here? I mean we are all that third
wheel." Kyle laid back on Matt's bed.

	"Sammy and Gage have always been like this, don't worry." Quin
pushes Kale play fully. "So what makes you want to live in this shitty
town?"

	"I've lived with my mom for a few years now. We... don't exactly
get along."

	"Well what happened? There's gotta be that final straw."

	"Quin you don't need to know everything." Matt span around from his
computer.

	"If he doesn't want to say he doesn't have too. Let Kale decide if
he's gonna say or not."

	"My dad is just more accepting of me than my mom is." Kale looked
towards the floor. Sam fallowed his actions, thinking of his father
probably.

	Shira put her arms around Kale's shoulders, "You don't need to say
anything you know. We would get if you don't know us well enough. I mean
you met us yesterday."

	"It's not that, it's that my mom... I guess she was in denial when
I told her and dad I liked boys." Kale looked around and noticed Sam, "I
think I should stop talking now."

	Sam looked up and saw that Kale was looking right at him. "Your not
stopping cause of me, are you?"

	"Well you look down in the dumps about something so I think I
should."

	"It's nothing, you can continue."

	I pull Sam closer to me, "You and everyone in this room but Kale
knows it's not nothing." He then proceeded to elbow me in my chest.

	"I don't need you telling me that."

	"Then tell the truth."

	I could feel Sam shaking. He was sitting on my lap after all. What
I couldn't tell though was if he was shaking of anger or nervousness. Then
he spoke, "What do you want me to say then!?" He was definitely
angry. "That my dad scares me! That I can't be myself around him! That I
can't speak my mind to him!" Sam got up and left.

	I went up to go after him but Kyle pulled me back, "Dude, he's not
happy with ya. You gotta give him some space for now."

	Kale then got up, "I'll see if I can calm him down." He then went
after him. Hopefully Sam will be fine... but now I feel like an ass.


	Sam's POV

	I can't believe how worked up I am about my dad this weekend. I
wanted to go trick or treating. I wanted to have fun with my friends. I
wanted to actually be me! Why did dad have to have a random weekend off!?

	Gage knows how bad my relationship is with my dad. It's like non
existent. Me and him once upon a time got along but that's when I was like
7. Since then stuff has happened, I've changed and he's as stubborn as
ever. Sometimes I wish I could just move out... but I can't.

	So here I am outside of Matt's house just going for a walk. I don't
know where and I don't know how long of one. I just need to walk. I barely
made it down the street before I heard foot steps coming up behind me. I
turned to scream at Gage to see Kale.

	"Mind if I walk with you?" I just nod and continue walking. I
walked... he fallowed he kept looking around at the 'sights' of this shitty
town. It was probably about half an hour before I found a bench to sit
on. "So what do you have on your mind?"

	"A whole lot of nothing."

	"You and I know that's not true. You never go this long without
saying something." Kale was almost as pushy as Gage... at least with him it
seamed more genuine.

	"My dad pisses me off... but I can't help but want to make him
proud of me." Tears started to fall from my eyes. I couldn't hold them back
anymore, they were just to much. My dad would call me a baby right now if
he saw me.

	Kale just held me till I was done. He just rubbed my back like Gage
would. I bet you Kyle made him stay behind. Kyle would do something like
that. When I was pretty much done he spoke, "I told my mom and dad when I
was eight that I thought boys were pretty than girls. Shortly afterwords my
parents split.

	"For the longest time I thought it was my fault. I thought it was
my fault cause I liked boys not girls. So I tried to change. I even have
had a few girlfriends. Last year though I started babysitting my mom's
friend's kid. He was a single child, who love to be nude.

	"One day he felt my boner by accident and he wanted to see
it. After I showed it he asked if he could suck it... he was eight. He
ended up giving me my first blow job and was the first guy to make me
cum. I ended up getting a closet boyfriend, I wasn't out to the school yet.

	"Then when my mom saw us snuggling on the couch one night and she
flipped. So instead of facing her, I ignored her and came here. That's why
I want to move here. My dad accepts me for me and my mom... well she'll
come to eventually."

	"What did your mom say? If you don't mind my asking."

	"She told my boyfriend to get out and then told me how unnatural
that was. As a result he broke up with me and I got outed to the
school. The school didn't care very much but my mom was dead set against me
having a boyfriend."

	"I'm sorry that happened to you."

	"Sammy... Gage is only trying to help ya. He's trying his best to
be a good boyfriend, he's just caught you at a bad time. How bought we go
back and you apologize."

	I just smile at him. "Don't ever call me Sammy and you'll have a
deal." We ended up agreeing on that and we made our way back. I do realize
that everyone grows up differently... that everyone has different ways of
going about things... I also realize as much as I dislike my dad... I'm
exactly like him in many ways...


	Chapter end


	So we went into Sam's head for the first time. And you know kinda
what happened that made Kale want to move in with his dad. What will happen
to Sam and Gage? Will Kale get into a relationship with Nick or Isaac or is
he just there to be there? All these questions and more will be answer on
the next DRAGON BALL Z... oops I mean Life's Expectations....
