This chapter marks the last five chapters of Life's expectations! This is the 40th chapter and the 6th last. So this chapter will be... emotional? Anyways it's the school talent show and you'll read about two of our residential boys singing on the stage. Who will they be? Well Read and find out. Besides that this is also an important chapter for Zach's story. Well the next few chapters are all important to someone's story but I'm starting with Zach's. His will be in two parts, one part this chapter one part in chapter 43. This one is more... sad... the other... aggravating. Hopefully. So he's chapter 40! LE – Chapter 40 – Speechless Gage's POV As fast as Matt and Tanis told us they were moving, they were gone. It really was kinda sudden that they had to move. Apparently their parents knew it was happening for a while but didn't want to tell them till it was confirmed. It's all said and done though so who's to complain? Instead of complaining I started prepare for the school's 'talent' show. I say 'talent' cause it's usually pretty bad. I'm not a star in any right, but I'm also not a bad singer. So I started practising. I was gonna preform on the second day. And make a big show just for Sam. He's my best friend and my boyfriend. So I gotta put up a show for him. The best part was my sister and her friend were the hosts. So my sister announced me. Sam knew it would make his embarrassed but he showed up anyways. "Dedicating a special song to a special someone here is my brother, Gage Bells." The stage went dark and she left the stage. My music started and I started to sing Speechless by Lady Gaga Perfectly aware how bad I would sound compared to her. Oh, oh My sister did their whole ask the act some questions and other bullshit. As soon as I could I got off the stage and went right to the red faced Sam. "So?" "You... You... I don't even know what to say!" Sam stomped. Obviously he liked the performance but was super embarrassed. "Just say you love me!" I smiled, he huffed. "Come on lets go get lunch now." "No! There is one more performance today we have to see." Wait what? "Who's?" Sam smiled and looked towards the stage. From the mic my sister's voice went throughout the theatre, "Welcome Isaac Adams to the stage!" "Isaac is singing!? What is he singing?" This had to be a good little treat to see. Sa was totally right, it was a must see performance. Isaac's POV I have no idea why I'm doing this! It all started at the youth centre when Colby asked who was doing stuff for the talent show. The conversation then went to if I was doing anything. To which I responded "no". Colby managed to convince me that I had a good voice and I on a whim signed up. So here I am back stage as Clair is announcing me. When I hear my name I knew it would make it even worse if I didn't sing. So I went on stage, the music started and I belted out the first line the best I could. Why, you wanna tell me how to live my life? The entire crowd cheered and I could hear Nick screaming. At least I hope that is Nick. I couldn't help but smile and continue. Who, are you to tell me if it's black or white? Mama, can you hear me? Try to understand. Is innocence the difference between a boy and a man? My daddy lived the lie, that's just the price that he paid Sacrificed his life, just slavin' away. Everyone who knew the song was singing along. Nick was at the edge of the stage singing along. Who knew I could do this in front of everyone... I sure didn't. Have A Nice Day Have A Nice Day When Clair tried to talk to me I couldn't say anything. I was embarrassed, in a good way? It was a good performance. Girls were staring at me. I just hid behind my hair and blushed. After a few yes or no questions Clair looked down at me, "Well I think we'll stop embarrassing you. You can go now." I quickly rushed off stage and left the theatre. It was just kinda awkward. I didn't realize how many people were watching me. The theatre was packed! I barely made it out when I was pulled to my right. "What the..." It was Nick. He hugged me and I just stopped. He pushed back and grabbed my shoulder, "Dude that was epic!" Lucas was right behind him, "Who knew you had it in you? That was really good." "Thanks guys. I didn't really know I even had it in me." Suddenly arms went around my waist and I was lifted up in the air. "DUDE!" It was Kale. Gage and Sam were just behind him. "That was so good. Why haven't we heard you sing before?" "I always sang in private. That is my favourite song to sing." Nick tugged my arm jumping up and down. "You have to sing more!" "Maybe." Still in Kale's arms he started to walk away. "Where are we going?" "I don't know. You just deserve to be up!" He lifted me up even further and continued farther down the hall way. I was all smiles and everyone kept looking at me. I don't care though it was about time I had a moment to shine. Zach's POV Shane called me earlier today. He said he wanted to take me somewhere. Where, I don't know. He said it was important though. He and Noah was gonna come pick me up in an hour. Now... I take forever to get ready but today was a lazy day. So I put on my 'Lazy Suit'. Which is a muscle shirt, a hoodie, sweat pants and a toque. I know... typical lazy day outfit. When he got there he ran up to the door and didn't even get the chance to knock before I answered the door. He smiled, "You're finally in a 'I don't care how I look' outfit." "It's Saturday... I'm tired... I don't care who sees me like this." I was tired... It was 11 and I'm a teenager. Sue me! "I know. I'm not apologizing." He smiled and pulled me out of the house. "Figure out where we're going?" "No, it's the morning." I walked slowly and yawned. "So where are we going?" "I asked your Aunt a couple questions and figured out that we have something in common." I look at his 'innocent' smile. I huffed and circled my hand telling him to continue. "Both your parents and and my mom are buried in the same graveyard." Oh... well then. I knew my parents were buried in the local graveyard. It was their home town, it's what they wanted. Now I didn't know Shane's mom was buried, or that it was in the same place as my parents. The ride to the graveyard was quiet. None of us really wanted to say anything. I thought to myself mostly. It was my first time visiting their grave and I got here little over 8 months ago. I knew exactly where they were too. Right by a pine tree in the very back. When we got there Shane grabbed my hand and led me to his mother's grave. I was in a trance the entire walk. He stopped and Noah wrapped his hand around his little brother's shoulder. Shane started talking, "Hey, mom... I thought it was about time we visited you. Since the snow had finally melted and stuff... Life has been good, there isn't much bad to report this time. "Oh! This is my boyfriend. I know you haven't met him yet but here Zachie is." I waved towards the Grave. It read 'R.I.P Grace Hearing, Loving mother of two.' Shane surprised me today. I thought he would be crying. "He's really nice and you would love him. He's helped me so much in the little amount of time I've known him. "Zachie's parents are here too, I'm sure you've already met them. He tells me about them all the time. I would like to meet them so I'm gonna have to cut this visit short. Noah will stay with you though." I looked over at Shane. He lead me away from the graves. "Do you even know where you're going?" "Do you?" I rolled my eyes and walked towards the very back. "I guess you do." I stopped by the pine tree. Two graves laying side by side. On them my parents names, Eric and Racheal Creston. "Mom, Dad... This is my boyfriend Shane." I actually choked that out. Wow. "Hey..." Was all Shane said. I had always meant to make time to get out here, yet never had. I guess I was afraid of what would happen. I was here for the burial but left very shortly after. It was hard on me, I wasn't even 10 yet. The very idea now of flying scares me. I don't think I'll ever be able to enter a plane again. They didn't even die on a plane it's just what my memory made me scared of. My Aunt has asked several times if I wanted to go and see my parents. I have always refused saying I was lazy or busy doing something else. Now that I'm here though I feel like I should have come sooner. I should have seen them before now. It almost feels like my pains are lifting off my shoulders. I must have just been looking at the tombstones for 10 minutes. Shane wasn't saying anything. I wasn't saying anything. I had to get something off my chest though. "Mom... Dad... If you can hear me I don't blame you. It wasn't your fault. I don't think I'll ever be able to go to anything Disney related or on an air plane ever again but that's not your fault. Tears started running down my cheeks, "Auntie Liz is awesome. Even better than I ever imagined. I was a total brat in the beginning. Always bugging her when she was trying to get her homework done. Even when mine wasn't. She's taking really good care of me. "I think you guys already figured it out before now, but I'm gay." How can this feel like I'm actually telling them in person. Like they never knew, like I could be hated by them just by saying two words. 'I'm Gay' these words have never haunted me. Why are they now. "I know you guys are proud of me... or at least I hope you are." Shane snuggled into my shoulder. My tears, still running like a waterfall. Shane took my hand and looked up at me. "Zachie is in good hands. I promise I wont ever hurt him. He's helped me allot, I'm sure I've helped him too. In some way. For now we better get going. I promise to bring him back to see you again soon." As if it was a command I started walking with Shane away. Before we came into the sight lines of his brother I grabbed him and kissed him. When he stopped our foreheads rested on each other. "Thanks Shane... I love you." His face somehow got even redder then before. "I love you too, Zachie." I have had to obtained the best boyfriend in the world. Or at least my world. Chapter End. Here is chapter 40! Like I said the at the beginning an Important part of Zach's story. For the next few chapters there will be important moments for certain characters. The characters will be Sam, Nick, Lucas, Shane, Kale, Isaac and Annie. So the characters that aren't getting a moment are Leo and Gage. I have my reasons for them not getting a moment but I will have you know every character is getting a moment in the final chapter.
