CHAPTER ELEVEN

LIVING IN A LIE

The weekend before the construction started was a fun one with Betsy and
the gang from school coming out to the farm to spend some time swimming,
having a picnic and taking turns to ride the horses. All the family were
there including Geoff's parents and the BBQ which topped off the day was
great.

Jordon was pleased to see Betsy hand in hand with another guy from school
and pointed this out to Geoff, "Maybe this will take the heat off me." He
said.

Before they went home everyone pitched in, helped clean up and do the usual
night time chores. Although most of them came from farming families they
appeared to enjoy helping the boys out.

With hugs and thanks the gang slowly dispersed all agreeing it was a great
day and Jordon made sure that everyone got an invite back any time they
wanted. Arms around each other they stood and watched the last of the group
disappear down the track before security shut and locked the gate while the
two lovers made their way back indoors.

"At least we have some good friends around here." Geoff remarked as the
made their way into the bedroom were Geoff gently laid his lover on the bed
before moving his mouth over his and kissing him long and hard, "I love you
Jordon Foster, you are the best thing that ever happened to me."

Jordon didn't say anything he returned the kiss before slowly undressing
his partner and himself.  Once they were both naked Geoff for once took
control pushing Jordon back on the bed and slowly moving down his body

He then by-passed his vital parts much to Jordon's dismay before going down

Fred and his transvestite partner Martha had a modicum of luck in selling
their houses and buying a place they could call home.  Fred sold his house
fairly quickly and while he didn't get the money he wanted he did quite
well considering the poor state of the market.  Martha's sale followed not
long after and they managed to buy a nice little house with a white picket
fence which was just what Martha wanted.

Right now they were busy moving in and finding that they had far too much
stuff from both houses to fit into one so they had giant yard sale selling
off a lot of stuff and finished up making a tidy sum of money.  With the
money they had left over from the property sales they were able buy a new
car along with a new TV, sound system and few other items of furniture to
make their new home nice and cosy.

It still upset both of them that they couldn't legally marry and hoped that
the law would change soon. In the meantime they were looking forward to a
lifetime together in their new home but Fred had a strange feeling that all
that was to change.  He couldn't put his finger on what was going to happen
but had a strange premonition that life with Martha wasn't going to be
plain sailing.

They had only been in their new house for a couple of weeks when one
evening lying in bed after a wonderful love making session Martha
complained of pains in the chest which got worse as the night went on until
she couldn't stand it anymore and Fred called nine one one and the
paramedics told him that Martha was having a heart attack and as they tried
to stabilize her they rushed to the hospital.

Poor Fred had no idea what to do or how to cope with such a situation never
having had any experience in married life as such.  At the ER he was shown
into a waiting room while the doctors worked on Martha and it was almost
eight hours later that a doctor came in to tell him that she was now stable
but the next twenty fours were crucial because she could go one way or the
other.

Fred burst into tears unable to handle all this and the doctor suggested
that he go home and get some rest and come back later, "Can I see her now?"

"Yes but she is currently in an induced coma so that her heart as time to
recover and hopefully mend itself, so you won't get any reaction from her."

"I would still like to see my Martha if I may."

The doctor took him down to intensive care and Fred was shocked to see a
very pale, fragile looking person laying there with tubes coming out of
everywhere.  He broke down crying again and a male nurse sat him down at
Martha's side suggesting that he talk with her.  In fact Martha looked more
like a man than woman due to the fact that the doctors had taken her wig
off and in the process of working on her most of her makeup was also gone
coupled with a shadow of a beard beginning to show through on his face that
Fred's illusion of being with a woman was shattered and just how much of a
man Martha was.

Looking at what was now obviously a male person Fred was shocked because
deep down he always looked upon Martha as a woman and it obvious now that
she or he wasn't.  Totally confused Fred almost ran from the room and
headed for home unable at this point to cope with what was happening.

Crying he flung himself onto the bed his head face down on the pillow and
cried himself to sleep.  It was several hours later that he woke and at
first he wondered where the hell he was before recalling all the events
that had happened just a few hours before.  His first thought to go through
his head was how stupid he had been to run away from the hospital like
that.  He loved Martha no matter what which meant that he loved a guy and
nothing can change that fact. He immediately called the hospital to be told
that Martha was showing some slight improvement.

Showering and changing into fresh clothes he headed back to the hospital
and when he was shown back into the intensive care ward he was happy to see
a bit more colour had come back into his lovers cheeks and some of the
tubes and machines surrounding her had been removed. The charge nurse told
Fred that Martha was now breathing on her own and was slowly being brought
out of the coma and should be waking up sometimes soon.

Fred sat next to the bed holding Martha's hand and talking to her at the
suggestion of the nurse. He told her how much he loved her and wanted her
back home by his side for a lot more years to come. The hand he was holding
began to twitch and moving causing Fred to stop talking and look at his
lovers face and the eyes which were slowly blinking and coming back to
life.

Moving her head slowly to one side she turned to Fred, smiling saying, "I
love you."  Those wonderful words started Fred crying as he stood leaning
over and to hug and gently kiss the woman in his life, "I love you too
Martha."  He told her kissing her forehead and cheeks but unable to get to
the lips because of the tubes.

The nurse came along and gently moved Fred to one side so that he could
make some adjustments to the tubes and machines still attached, "Is she
going to be all right?" Fred asked.

"All the signs being shown right now are good but you will have to talk to
the doctor regarding anything else." Was the guarded reply.

It was several hours later that the doctor spoke with Fred, "The prognosis
is good and she looks to be improving all the time but it is going to be a
long drawn out recovery process and she will have to take things easy for a
long time to come.  The heart attack Martha suffered was a severe one and
she is lucky to have survived it but her strong will to continue living
helped a lot."

He then went on to say that Martha's life style will have to be a
non-stressful one for the rest of her life and she will have to take things
easy. Thanking the doctor Fred assured him that he would look after Martha
and make sure she did everything he instructed her to do, "How soon before
she will be coming home?" was his next question.

"Hopefully as Martha's progress continues to improve she will be moved out
of intensive care and into a normal room tomorrow and from then on if she
continues to make progress I think maybe in a week's time she will be
allowed home."

Thanking the doctor for all he had done he shook his hand before going back
to Martha's bedside to hold her hand and assure her everything was going to
be all right.

Keith staying faithful to the Texas Rangers had continued to work in the
office and do everything that his bigoted new boss wanted him to do but he
was finding it more and more difficult to put up with the gay taunts and
menial tasks he was being given.  The trouble was when he was at home he
was taking it out on Miles," Keith you've got to do something about your
boss it's not right that he should persecute you because of who you are and
when you come home you take it out on me so our relationship is suffering
as well."  Keith agreed with him pointing out that to report him to his
superiors would bring about an enquiry and could possibly result in Keith
being moved to another town anyway.

"Well I think darling that's a chance we'll have to take."

The next day Keith lodged a formal complaint and as soon as it went in he
was called into his superior's office, "How dare you lodge a complaint
against me just because you're different and can do what you like.  I don't
like people like you I think your freaks and what you do is unnatural and
quite frankly I would rather not have you on my team and if you persist in
complaining then I will recommend you be transferred out of here, is that
understood?"

Keith replied with a yes sir and went back out to his desk, but what his
boss didn't know was that Keith had secretly taped the whole conversation
and as soon as he was at his desk He wrote a long letter explaining what
was going on to the Texas Rangers chief himself and enclosed the tape as
well.  During his lunch break he headed out to the post office and mailed
the package before calling Miles and telling him what he had done, "I know
it's not a nice way to go about things Keith but you had no other options
with this ass hole.  Let's just hope that you stay where you are and he
gets shipped out." They chatted some more before Keith had to head back to
his office and the mundane job he had been given.

Due to the heavy sexual activity the night before both Jordon and Geoff
slept in and only woke when the phone began to ring and there was a
knocking on the front door. Both boys jumped out of bed and ran around
looking for clothes to wear and while Jordon answered the phone Geoff got
the door.

On the phone was Damien telling him that he would be there in about an
hours' time to get the builders started, while at the front door was the
security guard to tell them that the builders were at the front gate and
should he let them in.  Geoff told him yes and then passed this message on
to Jordon who passed it yet again onto Damien who instructed the boys to
tell the builder to start unloading but wait for him to arrive before he
actually started work.  Ending the call Jordon said he would pass the
message on.

No sooner had he finished that call when the phone rang again answering it
he found it was his mom telling him that she was leaving home with his
sister and Eddie so they should be prepared to start home schooling when
she got there.

Jordon protested that right now they had a lot of things to do and were
waiting for Damien so the school bit would have to wait till later in the
day much to his mom's disgust. With that call over he went out with Geoff
to pass the message on to the builder, and both of them noticed several
fathers of the redneck hockey players among the labourers.  Neither of them
said anything but couldn't help noticing the glares and mutterings going on
while they were talking to the builder.

 They left the builder unloading a couple of trucks and went back towards
the farmhouse just as Jennifer, Jordon's mom along with his sister Veronica
and her boyfriend Eddie arrive.  They all went inside and Jordon explains
that they haven't even had time for breakfast yet so Veronica begins
cooking while Eddie went out to meet his new boss the head of security.
This is his first day on the job and he is shown the ropes and told what is
expected of him.

Meanwhile the boys are just about to finally sit down to breakfast when
Damien arrives.  After kissing and hugging everyone Damien heads out to
talk to the builder and explain that if any of his staff cause problems
they will be reported to the police and arrested with no second chances.
While the builder is surprised by the terse message and warning he gathers
his workers around telling them what the situation is.

A couple of them said that no way were they going to work under such
conditions and didn't want to be involved building a camp for queers anyway
and walked off the job. It was plain as day to Damien that those two were
only there to cause trouble anyway. Finally Damien was able to go over the
plans with the builder and some work got under way.  Eddie was assigned by
his boss to watch every move the workmen made and satisfied that everything
looked to be under control Damien made his way back into the house.

The front room which was hardly used was going to be the administration
office and would be Veronica's domain so the two of them began to move some
of the furniture around and unpack a computer and other office equipment
which had arrived last week. Jordon's mom decided that it would be a waste
of time giving the two boys any lessons today with all this activity going
plus the livestock hadn't been fed, watered or cleaned out yet today so
that was the boys next chore.

Damien gave them strict instructions to avoid going anywhere near the
workmen to be on the safe side and away the boys went to do the jobs they
should have done several hours earlier.

Damien then spent the rest of the day showing Veronica how the admin side
of the business needed to be set up also giving her a hand to unpack and
set up all the equipment and generally making her office comfortable.

Several sizable donations and sponsorships had come in with more to come
and all these had to be accounted for on the system.  Damien was impressed
by the knowledge Veronica had and the suggestions she was making to make
the business side of the operation work.  Meanwhile Jennifer was busying
herself cleaning the house and preparing dinner.  Because they had a late
breakfast she decided not to bother with lunch but have an early evening
meal so that Damien could eat before he left to fly back to Toronto.

Miles and Keith had a leisurely meal before deciding to see if Fred or the
boys were available for a chat.  It was pure luck that Fred was on line and
both of them were shocked to hear that Martha was in hospital, "Fred don't
panic because we're sure she's going to be all right and you'll be walking
her down the aisle very soon."

It was then that Fred explained that they couldn't get legally married but
hoped to have some sort of ceremony as soon as Martha was well again and
that they would love to have both of them join them for the event.  Miles
explained that they would try their hardest to be there, but with the
problems Keith was having at work things weren't looking too good right now
for any time off.  He then went on to explain the problems with Keith's
homophobic boss.

They continued chatting for some time until Fred said he wanted to get back
to the hospital but would keep them informed on how Martha was doing. After
saying their goodbyes they broke the connection and while Miles was
disappointed that the boys weren't on line he too had to close down and get
ready for bed.

Cuddling up to each other in bed Keith apologized to Miles for giving him a
hard time about something that was happening at work, "I shouldn't be
bringing my problems home like that and making you suffer just because of
that idiot of a boss I have."

"That's all right baby your problems are my problems that's what partners
are for and hopefully now you have reported him everything will sort itself
out. I love you Keith and always will; we are a great couple and are here
to support each other."

They Kissed cuddled and as they normally do when they couple together made
great love well into the early morning.  These two guys really loved each
other and couldn't get enough love.

Two days later a high ranking officer from headquarters arrived unannounced
and asked to be shown straight away into Keith's superior's office.  It
only took thirty minutes for his new boss to be clearing out his desk.
Apparently Keith's wasn't the first complaint about this guy's attitude to
hit the head office and he was gone not to another posting but out of the
Texas Rangers completely.

As he walked past Keith's desk he muttered, "You just watch your fucking
back fagot you haven't heard the last of me."

The next thing to happen, even before Keith had the opportunity to call
Miles with the good news he was called into the office.  After handshakes
and being invited to sit down he received a formal apology before getting
some more news which astounded him, "Headquarters have been watching your
performance for some time now and we would like you to take over the chiefs
job in this office."  Keith just sat there open mouthed as his superior
continued, "We would like to offer you a three month probationary period in
the position and if you shape up as well as we think you will then the
promotion will be made permanent."

It took Keith all his time to grasp what had just been said before he
stammered his thanks assuring him that he wouldn't let the Texas Rangers
down, "I'm sure you won't and congratulations on your promotion which will
take effect immediately."

Once his superior had left he called Miles and could scarcely contain
himself with the news. The pair right away decided to go out and celebrate
Keith's good fortune.

Back at the farm work on the construction was coming along well.  That
first day Damien decided to stay the night and leave early the next day for
Toronto, while Jennifer assured her son and boyfriend that lessons would
commence with no excuses.  Veronica was busy settling in to her new job as
administrator, while Eddie her boyfriend was quite happy working as a
security guard on the property.

Before leaving Damien reminded everyone that next Saturday was the auction
of surplus farm equipment so the whole area had to be kept neat and tidy.
He suggested that the two families might like to run a refreshment stall
selling snacks and drinks on the day and make a bit of money for
themselves. This was agreed upon and Geoff's mom said she would organize
that side of things.

Everything was going quite smoothly until just after lunch a car load of
Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrived with a senior officer in tow.  All of
them looked pretty grim and they asked all of the family to assemble
together.

The senior inspector spoke to them when all of them were gathered, "I'm
sorry to have to tell you this but Mrs Foster your husband was working at a
prison farm today when he escaped custody.  According to reports from other
inmates he has been making threats against all of you for some time and we
fear that he will head this way to do you all harm." He paused to allow
this news to sink in before continuing, "We will provide as much protection
as we can for you all and possibly you may be able to increase your own
security until he is recaptured."

All of them went a deathly white on hearing this news with Jordon and Geoff
crying in each other's arms, "Why can't he just leave us alone?" Jordon
sobbed, but no one had an answer.

Writers corner.  Firstly my editor Richie is away so if there are any
mistakes or errors then it's all down to me.

Martha's heart attack came as a big shock in fact this whole chapter was
full of shocks.  Let's hope that she makes a full recovery and her and Fred
live a happy life.

When the Texas Rangers move boy do they move quick and Keith and Miles are
still in a state of shock following the sacking of his boss and Keith
getting the job.  Once again I hope that promotion is all it's cracked up
to be and that the threats handed out by his sacked ex-boss amount to
nothing.

Everything finally appeared to be going smoothly on the farm until the RCMP
brought the news about Freddy Foster's escape from prison.  What will
happen in the future? Well who knows right now we will just have to wait
and see.
