DEDICATION

The 9th and last chapter of "Love is worth all the risks" is especially
dedicated to Yosemite and Juan. Yosemite is from Island (yes it's
possible!) and Juan lives in Florida. They both are in their teens, dealing
with the difficulties of all gay teens. They are looking for support,
friendship and love, as we all do. Stick at it buddies, you are worth it,
you are great guys and I thank you very much to have let me share a small
part of your life!!

CHAPTER 9: Epilog

Weeks passed without any change. We were good students with good grades for
our teachers. We were invisible ghosts for the other students. Nothing to
report until a Saturday afternoon, about for months after the psychodrama
of our coming out. Taylor and I had jogged about an hour long in the park
and we were walking slowly to rest before going back home.

We heard a soft noise followed by a stiffled cry. We entered the bush the
noise seemed to come from and there we saw a kid, about twelve years old,
on the ground. He was surrounded by five guys I didn't know and who were
about our age. One of them was bend over the kid. He had gripped his
jacket's collar. The kid was terrorized.

"What is this all about?", asked Taylor.

They all turned to us suddenly.

"Go away! That's not your business!"

"Please help me!" begged the kid.

"Shut up! and you go away before being in big trouble!"

"Let him go immediately!" said Taylor coldly.

"Come get him if you want!"

"Help me! Please!" repeated the kid.

"I told you once to shut up!" said the big guy and he gave the kid a slap.

That is the moment the storm began.

I never thought a human being could be so fast. In a fraction of a second,
Taylor was on the guy. He gripped his hair, made him stand and gave him a
hard punch right in the jaw that sent him back on the ground. He helped the
kid to stand up and told him:

"Run kiddo! Run home as fast as you can!"

So he did, not asking a question.

All of this had been very quick but was enough time for the five bullies to
recover and to pounce on us. It's very hard for me to tell the story of
that fight because I don't remember it very well. Should I have only been
spectator, I would have memorized it better I think. I just remember giving
some punches and kicks and receiving much more of them. What will stay
engraved in my memory for ever is Taylor's fury.

He was absolutely enraged and moving so fast they could hardly approach
him, even when they were 4 around him. I didn't know he had so many fists,
feet, elbows... And he could use all of them at the same time!!!

He succeeded in sending three of them on the ground and immediately he
shouted:

"Let's go Matt, let's flee!!!"

And we began to run. I think we smashed one or two world records. We only
stopped a half mile away, in a place crowded enough to be safe. The kid had
disappeared. We sat down on the grass to calm our breathing. When Taylor
raised his head, at first, I couldn't believe my eyes, then I began to
laugh.

"Excuse me Taylor, it must be the nerves, it's not funny but I think you
will have the most extraordinary pair of black eyes I ever saw!" I said,
unable to control my giggles.

He stared at me and grinned weakly. I think it was quite painful for him to
grin.

"You haven't seen your own face! Compared to you Frankenstein's creature
would be a sex symbol!"

And we both started to laugh hysterically. That was a good way to drain
the incredible tension of the last few minutes, and to forget our pain. But
the pain was there and no longer to be forgotten. It quickly ended our
laughing crisis.

"Let's go home" I said, "we need at least the first aid and maybe more!"

When my mother saw us she went blank.

"What happened to you?"

"We will tell you the story but could we first try to..."

"Of course, let's go to the bathroom!"

She went with us.

"Strip off!"

"Mum, we..."

"Honey I have already seen you! Remember I am your mother and furthermore I
think each one of you has already seen the other too!!"

I blushed but under the blood and the dust it was not noticeable.

"I need to see were and how bad you are injured."

She scrutinized both of us from head to toes, cleaning the wounds and
putting large amounts of ointment on the bruises then we went back to the
kitchen to put packs of ice on our jelly-looking faces.

She was relieved to know that our being beaten up wasn't the result of a
gay hunting because it was what frightened the most our parents now. She
had the usual speech about avoiding fights but she also said she was proud
of us for helping someone who really needed it even if it was dangerous.

Back in my bedroom I hugged Taylor, not too tightly because of the so many
painful parts we were suffering from.

"Today I have learned two things about you Taylor. The first is how
unbelievably courageous you are. When I saw the way you rushed over that
guy 30 pounds heavier than you I was stupefied. And then you stayed there,
alone against five to give the kid time enough to run away. That was great,
you are my hero."

"I was not alone. I knew you were here and you would help. I never doubt it
and you did a pretty good job! Do you know that kid?"

"I am not sure. I think I have already seen him but I don't know his name."

"And what is the second thing you learned?"

"When I saw the way you fought, the fury they turned you in, I convinced
myself to never give you a reason to be really angry against me!" I replied
grinning.

"You are right! So never stop to love me and you'll remain safe!"

"I know baby, I love you. I can't believe my luck, I can't get accustomed
to the idea of you being my lover, you are so.... so....so..."

"sososo????"

"You are so beautiful, so clever, so funny, so gentle, so tender, and now
so courageous and so strong!! Every moment I discover new qualities in
you. You are a no end land of perfection. And knowing you are in love with
me makes me the happiest!!"

He smiled and pouted.

"It's unfair, you robbed all the words I was about to use about you. The
courage and the strength I felt today, I owe it to you! You are the one
who increased my self-esteem."

"How did I do that?"

"Loving me, simply loving me. When a person, as wonderful as you are, loves
someone, that someone has probably some qualities. Your love makes me look
at myself in a positive way. I can love me because you make me think I
deserve to be loved by you! Does that make any sense?"

We kissed with passion but carefully because of our sore lips and cheeks.

On Monday at school, we regained some attention. Our bruised faces
attracted a lot of stares but still no comment. As we were waiting for
none... We only had to reassure some teachers that our wounds were not the
result of a gay bashing.

On Tuesday things changed radically. As usual Taylor and I were discussing
in front of our lockers before going to class, when we heard a voice about
three yards from us.

"Taylor, Matt, could I speak to you?"

We jumped, so unexpected was the event: somebody speaking to us at school,
in public, without insulting us!!! That was Eric from the football team.

We turned and asked defensively:

"What's about?"

"I would like to thank you!"

"Thank us? What for?" We were very suspicious.

"Cause your bruises, your wounds,... I think all this is due to my
brother!"

I felt anger building in me.

"And you want to thank us because your brother made a pulp of our faces!!"
I shouted.

"No, excuse me! I am not clear, my brother didn't beat you! He is the one
you rescued. He told me Saturday that five guys attempted to rob his money
and his jacket and that two other people he didn't know helped him to
escape. When I saw your faces yesterday I asked him more details about the
attack. He described the two persons who came to help him and I had no more
doubt! It could only be you."

"I can't believe you are speaking to that pair of faggots Eric!!! "

It was Ronald, shouting across the hallway. At this time of the day the
hallway was quite crowded and noisy. It became very quiet. Everybody's
attention was focused on us one more time.

"I can't believe you are speaking to this cock suckers!!", repeated angrily
Ronald.

"Don't speak that way about my friends" Eric told him. Then he turned to
us.

"If you two accept me as your friend. I know I don't deserve the favor."

Back to Ronald:

"I speak to them because they rescued my little brother."

"Probably to jump in his pants and use his ass!!"

"Another word like this one and I will not be able to control my fists
Ronald! My little brother was in the park, Saturday, in very big trouble:
he was about to be beaten up by five guys."

He was shouting all around the hall for everybody to hear.

"The bullies were five! And Matt and Taylor, just the two of them came
between my brother and the five guys! And they fought, two against five!
And they ordered my brother to run away so he would be safe! They put
themselves at risk to be beaten up just to help a kid they didn't know!!"

"And what does that change??? They still are fags, cock suckers and pieces
of shit!!"

"There is only one piece of shit around here and that is you Ronald! I
don't know if I would like to be a cock sucker as you say so poetically,
but sure I know I would like to have the guts they have!"

He held his hand to us.

"I would understand if you refuse to shake my hand because I am one of
those who turned your life to hell those last months. I am not proud of
myself for this. When I think about it I can hardly understand why we did
this. You Matt, you have always been known to be the most gentle guy of the
school. Everybody liked you and suddenly, just because we discovered
something different, we ostracized you. But you were already different
before. You were more gentle than anyone, more kind, more funny, more
available to help... We have known you for years and is there anyone who
could say you have made a move on him? If there is anyone, he can say it
now!!" he shouted one more time. The hallway remained silent. "And you
Taylor, I don't know you very well. I wish I'll have that chance in the
future. I already know you are the most courageous guy I ever met: firstly,
you came out by yourself, without having to do it, just to help your friend
and to stand by him! Secondly you were the first to intervene in the
bashing of my brother... I would be very honored and relieved if you accept
my thanks and my apologies."

Taylor and I looked at each other puzzled. We were still hesitant. Taylor
made the first move. He held his hand to Eric:

"Apologies accepted but you don't have to thank us. We just did what we had
to. I'm sure you would have done the same for any kid in trouble."

I shook hand with Eric too.

He flashed us a big smile.

"Thank you guys, thank you very much! It means a lot to me. I hope to see
you later!"

And he went to his classroom.

So did we. All morning long things got better, slowly, but they got
better. Some guys smiled to us or said "hello". Four offered silent
handshakes and of course we accepted. Signs were numerous but weak, as if
most people remained far from us because of some sort of shame they felt
toward us.

When we left class for lunch, Eric was waiting for us with about ten of his
friends, some of the football team and a few others.

"Would you agree to go to lunch with us?" asked Eric.

"Of course!" retorted immediately Taylor. "We quite lacked company
recently!"

Everybody smiled and we made our way to the cafeteria. We sat down and the
first moment were uncomfortable. Nobody knew how to start the
conversation. It's Ted (very pretty member of the judo team) who took a
deep breath and began:

"Taylor, Matt, we all had a discussion before lunch and we would like to
apologize for our behavior during the previous months."

"You don't have..." I tried to say.

"Yes we have to! Let me finish please! The way we acted is unacceptable and
we are ashamed. You being gay doesn't change anything at who you are and we
should have understood it earlier. I don't know why we have been so close
minded, and we hope you'll forget it. No, not forget, I think you couldn't
but forgive us."

"You are all forgiven!" I said. "I am happy to have some friends back."

"And you don't have to go through so much apologies! It's quite moving and
I don't want to cry all day long. People could say I am some sort of a
sissy!!" added Taylor, making everybody laugh. "Coming to me to say hello
and to offer a handshake is enough apologies for me!"

"How did you manage to get away from those five guys? Seeing your faces it
has been pretty difficult!" asked Eric.

We had to give all the details about the fight and it started the
conversation. Everyone had an anecdote about fights to report, that led us
on to sports, to faraway lands, to our holidays trips, you know, just the
way a conversation is going on, hopping from one topic to another, not
really to exchange ideas or thoughts, just to be together and have fun.

And fun we had. Jokes were following jokes as did the laughs. Each time I
turned to Taylor I could see how much he was enjoying the moment. He was
radiant.

During the bleak period, we had a lot of moments of happiness, but this was
different, it was pure joy. From time to time our eyes connected for the
silent exchange of that joy. I'll always remember that lunch as one of the
best hours of my life.

Ted said something that amazed me. He looked at Taylor then at me:

"I think I am jealous Matt, I envy you!"

"What does that mean?" I replied taken aback.

He grinned widely

"Don't be scared! I won't try to pick up your boyfriend! Furthermore I
think it would be impossible."

Taylor nodded with a smile.

"No, I am speaking about the bond that obviously exists between the two of
you. I think I have never seen such a strong thing. I wish I have the same
with a girl one day."

We both turned deep red but appreciated the compliment that meant also for
us a complete acceptance of what we were. At the end of the lunch Eric
invited us to a party he was giving on Saturday night.

"Could we invite girls with us?" I asked.

"Girls!?!?!?!" They all said.

"You never invited a boyfriend... I mean a boy who is a friend to a party?"

That was another big laugh.

"It would be great if we could come with Cathy and my sister Lucia. They
were the only ones to keep contact with us those last months. They have
been very supportive." There was a second of unease. "We would like them to
be with us for our come back to the World!"

"That's OK of course!" said Eric.

As soon as I went home that afternoon, Lucia rushed toward me.

"What happened? I saw you and Taylor eating with Eric and his friends. You
seemed to have a great time. I have heard the kid you helped Saturday is
Eric's little brother. Tell me, please tell me!!!!!"

She was so excited I had a very hard time to tell her the whole story: she
was always interrupting me.

"Did you tell him a word about your sweet and pretty sister?"

"I did much better!!"

"Much better?"

"Yes, much better!! Eric is giving a party on Saturday night and he invited
both Taylor and I, and..."

"And???"

"And we asked him to go with Cathy and you!!!"

"You did it? You really did it?? You are going to take me to Eric's party??
You are not kidding?? You... you... are the greatest brother! The
greatest!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you so much!!!!"

She was even more excited now. I kissed her.

"It's just a little pay back to thank you for being the greatest sister!"

She gave me a big hug.

All week long the situation got better and by Friday it was almost back to
normal. Some people were still obviously distant even contemptuous, but
most of them were friendly, sometimes more than before. Our status turned
from nobodies to stars overnight, and I have to confess that we enjoyed it.

Saturday night came quickly, thanks to God! One more day and Lucia should
have died of a heart attack, her excitement growing from one hour to the
next.

When we arrived at Eric's house we were welcomed by his parents and his
little brother Ryan. Before leaving, they wanted to thank us. It was quite
embarrassing and moving when Eric's mother told us:

"I wish more kids would be like you! And I mean it, really mean it. The
world would be better."

And she kissed us, as did Ryan.

Everybody (about 40 people) was friendly with us and we were having a very
good time, as did Lucia and Cathy. Even Ronald said hello. It was more
quick than warm, but it signified the end of the war.

Around midnight, I was talking with Lucia and Taylor while the music turned
to romantic one and the light decreased. Eric came to us. He caught my arm.

"Let's dance!" and he said to Taylor: "I'll bring him back to you in a few
minutes!"

Before I could realize what was going on, I was in his arms in the middle
of the dance floor. Some couples stopped and some mouths stayed opened as
if there was a sudden epidemic of cramped jaws. But within a few seconds
all was back to normal: dancers resumed to dance and mouths shut.

I needed some time before I was able to say a word.

"Why did you do that Eric?"

"I wanted to feel your hot body against mine" he whispered in my ear.

I tensed and he felt it.

"I am just kidding excuse me! I don't want you to feel uneasy. I did it
because I wanted to know how it feels to have a pretty boy in his arms and
it's not so bad." He smiled. "I did it also because I can see how Taylor
and you are making obvious efforts not to be obvious. Probably to avoid
hurting anyone's sensitivity! Am I right?"

I nodded.

"So I wanted to show that, at least in my house, there is nothing wrong
with two guys dancing together. I made the first step, maybe you'll do the
second!!"

And he turned to Taylor who was dancing with Lucia.

"Perhaps we could exchange our partners? Would you mind Lucia?"

She just gave him one of the widest smile I ever saw. Shyly I put a hand on
Taylor's shoulder and the other one on his waist. He did the same and took
me in a tight embrace. We danced slowly.

I have had him often in my arms but we never had the idea to dance
together, even in the privacy of our bedroom. It was incredible. His hips
were moving slowly against mine and his head was in my neck. I kissed him
lightly. All the people I saw looking at us smiled or winked at me. I think
the only one who never had a glance to me was Lucia. In Eric's arms she was
ecstatic.

"It's so good!" I said.

"I know. You have been purring in my ear from the first second!"

"It's a dream come true. I can't believe it. No longer than a week ago
being gay made us shits people were fearing to walk by. Today you are in my
arms, we kiss and the same people smile and wink. I can hardly believe how
fickle they are."

"I don't think they are fickle. It's just so hard to express your true
feelings sometimes."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you remember that night in my bedroom, five months ago, at about three
AM? You were about to run away from me! Five minutes later you were kissing
me with passion!! Were you fickle at that time? We were so enclosed in our
fears, so afraid of the way the other could react to our true feelings than
we preferred to hide them and we almost destroy all. It's the same for
them! Showing your true feeling of acceptance toward homosexuality when the
general rule is the contrary is very frightening. I think today we see
their true feelings, and I like it that way."

I tightened my embrace over Taylor as waves of love were bathing me.

"I love you so much Taylor!!"

"Do you think the tolerance level is high enough for us to make love here?
Because right now it's exactly what I need!!" and he kissed me deeply.

"Maybe we'll wait some time before initiating a teen orgy!!" I giggled.

We continued to dance half an hour long and then we had small talk with
other people of the party. That was a wonderful night. I even tried to wink
at Ronald when he left and he smiled back!!!

Two AM, curfew time. I was to sleep over at Taylor, but before, I had to
take Lucia back home. When I went to remind her of the time, I noticed she
was holding hands with Eric. As soon as I arrived he offered to give her a
ride and I replied:

"Only if you promise me to be less seductive than you were with me on the
dance floor."

He reddened a bit and they both laughed.

About an hour later Taylor and me were both naked in his bed. He was moving
sensually on top of me and giving me light kisses.

"Taylor, this night is one of the best I have ever had since our first
one!"

"For me too baby!"

"I would like it to be even more memorable" I added shyly.

"What do you mean?"

""I have been thinking about it for a few weeks. I would like to have you
in me Taylor!"

"You sure? You feel ready for that?"

"Yes, more than ready, I feel I need it!"

"I love you Matt! Promise to say stop if it hurts. Promise me!"

"I promise." I whispered.

He was so caring, so concerned about avoiding to hurt me that he took an
awfull lot of time to prepare me. His fingers and his lips almost send me
over the edge several times. He carried on with his sweet torture untill I
begged him:

"Go ahead Taylor please! I need you in me!! I can't wait anymore!"

He began to enter me. I relaxed as much as I could and it was quite
difficult, I was so tensed by the pleasure he was giving me!!

He was staring at me and so I was. He did it in a way so slow, so sweet, so
caring that I hardly felt a little pain. I never stopped to smile at him.

Totally buried in me he gave me a passionate kiss. I began to move to make
him understand I was ready. He set upright on his arms and began to go back
and forth, still looking at me. It was unbelievable! I thought I had
already reached the pinnacle of pleasure. He proved me how wrong I was. I
caressed his chest and put my hands on his hard as rock bubble butt and
pushed it to speed the rhythm. He went in me deeper and deeper, harder and
harder. The pleasure I could see on his face was increasing mine. I had to
bite my lips to quiet my moans which had turned into wild grunts. He made a
last rush inside me and his cum invaded me. Without touching myself I
erupted.

He collapsed on me and kissed me frantically. We stayed there, without a
word, just looking in each other eyes. Love were overflowing from us.

"I love you Matt!"

"So I do."

"You love you?" asked Taylor.

"No man, I love you. If I could I would marry you!"

"Would you? Really?"

"Yes! Do you want to be mine for ever Taylor ?"

"Of course I do! And you Matt, do you want to be mine for ever?"

"Yes I do! But you have to promise to make love to me as you did that night
until we are, at least, 150 years old! Then we will think about resting!!"

He giggled.

"Don't you think it would be a little risky after 100 years old?"

"Yes, I think so but love is worth all the risks isn't it?"

"Yes it is!"

And we fell asleep in each other arms dreaming about growing old together.

-----------------------------------------------------

I have made it!! I can hardly believe I wrote a whole story. I am half
happy and half sad. Happy because it has been a hard job for me to write
this story and quite often, I lost heart thinking I could never go up to
the end. But I am sad also because Matt and Taylor have been part of my
life for those last month, and it's a little bit like I am going away from
some good friends.

There are two things I would like to add

1. I want to thank all of the readers who took time to mail me their
comments, criticisms or compliments, even when the message was very short
(or very critical) it was really pleasant to hear from all of you and I
hope we will keep contact. And to those who have not written already, it's
not too late!

2. I want my last word (not definitively last I hope) to be for
Christian. He made a really great job. To be an efficient proofreader is
far from easy, specially when you want to respect the initial writing. I am
sure he has respected my "style" even when he didn't like it!! Thank you
Christian, even though I don't know you, you worked for me as could have
done a friend, I am grateful for that.
