Subject: Chapter 3 of Obsession

"I can't wait to see this movie. I've been looking forward
to it for months," Rob said.

"Yeah, it should be awesome," Brian agreed.

"I wish this ass hole would get off my bumper," Rob said.
"I'm going five miles an hour over the speed limit. What
does he want?"

Brian looked back and saw how closely the green Jeep was
driving behind Rob's old Mustang. "Yeah, he must be in a
really big hurry. Maybe you should turn off on a side road
and let the idiot pass."

"No way! We aren't doing anything wrong. Just let him get
pissed off. I'm in too good a mood to let him bother me,"
Rob answered, as he looked at the crazy driver in his rear
view mirror.

Rob continued to drive at the same speed, but kept checking
in the rear view mirror constantly. The Jeep continued to
follow way too closely. If Rob had to slam on his brakes in
an emergency, he knew the Jeep would rear end him.

"This guy must be nuts. He's still right on my bumper. He's
not even from around here. I wish he'd go back to where he
belongs," Rob said.

"Really? Where's he from?" Brian asked.

"He has North Carolina tags on his car," Rob answered.

`North Carolina?' Brian thought. `No, it couldn't be. He had
just talked to Bill over the net. It couldn't possibly be
Bill'.

Brian didn't say anything but he did look back again at the
Jeep, who seemed to come even closer. Brian turned back
around and said, "He's really making me nervous. I wish that
you'd pull in somewhere and let him pass us."

"I really hate to give in to him. Ok, if that's what you
want," Rob said, as he pulled into the driveway of a nearby
McDonalds. "I wanted something to drink anyway," he said, as
he pulled into the take out line.

They both watched as the Jeep sped by. "Ass hole," Rob said.

"Some people can be such dick heads," Brian agreed.

Neither boy could see that the Jeep didn't go far. Bill
pulled into an empty bank parking lot not far from the
McDonalds and pulled to the side so he could watch for the
Mustang to pass him again. He was barely able to drive, he
was so mad.

"I can't believe it. I fucking can't believe it," he said to
himself. "I'll bet he has been cheating on me with that
other boy the whole time we were going together. He breaks
up with me and it's not an hour later before he goes off
with the little slut. Well, I'll teach him!! I'll teach both
of them that they can't treat me this way," Bill said loudly
in his car.

The line wasn't very long and soon, both boys were drinking
their cokes and talking about the movie again. Neither
noticed the green Jeep pull out behind them. There were
several cars between Bill and them, which he tried to pass
on the now four lane road, but the traffic was heavy, as it
always seems to be in Atlanta, so all he accomplished was
switching lanes.

Rob soon turned onto the highway for the three mile trip to
the mall. Even though it was now 7:15, the other side was
still bumper to bumper on I-575. Another long commute home
for the unlucky drivers.

"Look how the traffic is backed up over there," Brian said,
as he motioned towards the other side.

"Yeah, it's pretty heavy on this side, too," Rob answered.

Rob was in the slow lane. Bill had followed them in the fast
lane, but he hadn't been able to catch them yet. He almost
wasn't able to get back over when Rob pulled off at the
exit. As it was, there were now around eight cars separating
them.

"GOD DAMN IT!!! I can't lose them," Bill screamed, slamming
both hands on the steering wheel.

The driver ahead of him was staring at him in the rear view
mirror and saw how Bill had exploded. He just shook his head
sadly. `Some people just can't deal with traffic,' he
thought.

And traffic was Bill's problem right now. He didn't want to
lose sight of the Mustang at any cost.

Parking was already a problem at the theater. Rob had to
drive around a little bit before he found a place in the
very back, next to the side of the theater. Bill watched
them from the far corner of the lot. There were way too many
people walking around right now. He couldn't afford to
confront the boys here.

He had lost sight of them when they finally parked. But he
had already written down the tag number from the Mustang.
Finding where it was parked wouldn't be a big problem.

He caught sight of Brian and Rob walking up to the theater.
He cranked the Jeep and quickly found where they were
parked. He didn't wait on them. He knew he had plenty of
time before he needed to be back. So he hurriedly drove back
to his apartment. He had an e-mail he wanted to send to
Brian. And he also had a little surprise he wanted to
prepare for Brian's little slut boyfriend.

                       *****************

There were boxes still stacked everywhere in Bill's new
apartment. Bill was a strong man, but he was still tired
when he finally finished bringing all the boxes up the
stairs. So he hadn't opened but the essentials. Including
his computer.

Bill had spent the night on the road so he would get into
Atlanta early on Thursday. He wanted to be able to find a
day laborer to help him unload his furniture. He hated
Mexicans but that was all that was left when he went to the
corner where the person he had leased his apartment from,
sight unseen, had told him about over the phone. The Mexican
had worked very hard and spoke decent English, but Bill was
still glad when he was able to take him back to where he had
found him.

Day laborers typically get lunch included with the pay that
they negotiate, but Bill wasn't about to spend any more than
he had to. The Mexican gave him a dirty look when he handed
over the twenty dollar bill that they had agreed on, but
Bill couldn't have cared less. Fuck him! Bill hated
Mexicans. In fact, Bill hated almost everybody.

Most of all, Brian! He hated Brian almost as much as he had
hated Billy at the end of their brief relationship. But
Billy had gotten what he deserved. And so would Brian and
his little boyfriend.

Bill thought about what he should do to Brian as he
dissolved the sugar he had put down the empty soda bottle in
water. What he had done to Billy wasn't personal enough for
treachery. Brian had betrayed him, and Bill wouldn't stand
for that.

Maybe he would do what he had done to Steve in Michigan. Or
Jimmy in New York. Or Dave in Kentucky. He didn't know, but
he knew he would come up with something special this time.

`That should be enough sugar,' Bill thought. `I need to
write an e-mail to Bri and get back so I can get a parking
spot that's close enough to watch.'

                      ****************

Bill looked all around as he walked up to the blue Mustang.
He casually strolled up to the gas door and pulled it open,
then looked down. It had a locking gas cap! He angrily threw
down the plastic bottle containing the sugar water he had
planned on pouring down the gas pipe and walked around to
the front of the Mustang. The bottle bounced up, hit the car
next to where Rob had parked, then bounced back and lodged
against the back of the driver's side rear tire.

The sugar water would have ruined the engine in about twenty
miles. The engine would have completely locked up, and very
little would have been salvageable. Bill thought about other
options, as he bent down and felt around for the hood
release. He had to do something to the little slut.

It was already dark, so he couldn't see very well with only
the parking lot lights to guide him, but he finally found it
and opened the hood. He pulled off the distributor cap wire
that attached to the coil and took it with him, slamming the
hood as he walked away. He carefully looked around again and
couldn't see anyone watching him.

`At least the Mustang was old enough that it didn't have an
inside latch,' Bill thought, as he got back inside his Jeep.
`Maybe they will be stranded here until everyone leaves.
Then we can have some real fun.'

                      ******************

The boys thoroughly enjoyed the movie. They were both so
into it that they didn't quietly talk to each other like
they normally did.

They were both talking non-stop about the movie as they
filed out of the theater when the movie finally ended. The
show had sold out, just like Brian had thought it might, so
there were lots of people walking around outside.

Bill saw them walk over and get in the Mustang. He was
safely two aisles over, so he couldn't watch them as they
tried to crank it, but that was all right. He already knew
what was going to happen.

Rob got in, reached over to pull the knob so Brian could get
in, then inserted the key into the ignition. Nothing
happened.

"What's wrong?" Brian asked.

"I don't know. It cranked fine at my house and at yours. The
battery is pretty new. I don't think that's the problem,"
Rob answered.

"Try your lights," Brian said. Rob did and they worked fine.

"That isn't it. But it isn't making a sound. Do you know
anything about engines?" He asked Brian.

"Not really. Mike's the mechanic in our family. Maybe we
should call him. Do you have your cell phone with you?"
Brian asked.

"Yeah, it's in the glove compartment. My parents insist I
take it with me for emergencies. I just hope it's charged,"
Rob answered.

"We can go back in and use the phone in the theater if it
doesn't," Brian said.

"Are you sure Mike won't mind driving over here?" Rob asked.

"I don't think so. I'm sure he can get it cranked. You don't
want to have to leave it over here all night," Brian
answered.

"Here, you do it then," Rob replied, handing the cell phone
to Brian. Brian took it and quickly dialed home.

"Hello?" Mike answered.

"Mike, Bri. Rob's car won't start. It doesn't make a sound.
The lights work. We've already tried them. Got any ideas?"
Brian asked.

"Does it make a clicking noise?" Mike asked.

"No, nothing at all," Brian answered.

"Well, it shouldn't be the starter then. I'll drive over and
see what I can do," Mike said.

"You don't mind?" Brian asked.

"Not at all. You talked Rob into going to the movies because
of me. I'll be right there. Are you at the new theater?"
Mike asked.

"Yeah, they had more copies of Spiderman showing than
anybody else," Brian replied.

"Ok, I'll be right there. Both of you stand in front of the
theater so I don't have to hunt where you're parked, OK?"
Mike asked.

"Sure. Good idea. See you in a few minutes," Brian answered.

"Bye," Mike said, as he got up, turned off the TV, turned
out the lights in the den, and hurriedly walked out to the
garage.

                      *******************

"There he is," Rob said, as the bright yellow Mustang Cobra
turned the corner and headed for them. Mike stopped in front
of where they were standing and both got in.

"Thanks for coming, Mike," Brian said.

"Yeah, thanks a lot," Rob said.

"No problem. Where are you parked, Rob?" Mike answered.

"Drive past the theater and turn right. It's almost at the
end," Rob answered.

Mike quickly found Rob's car and left his Cobra running,
parked behind it in the aisle. There weren't any parking
spots open around him. Mike opened the trunk from inside,
then got out and found a flashlight. "Can you open your hood
for me, Rob?" Mike asked.

"Sure. Can you shine the light here?" Rob asked, as he
walked in front of his car. Mike did and Rob had the hood
open in seconds.

Mike looked around and quickly spotted the problem. "Is
anyone mad at you right now, Rob?" he asked.

"I don't think so. Why?" he answered.

"Someone took your distributor wire. You won't be going
anywhere until we can get one in the morning," Mike
answered.

"Well, that sucks," Brian said. "No one knew we were coming
here and we didn't see anybody we knew while we were waiting
to buy tickets."

"It could have been someone playing a prank, but this isn't
very funny," Mike said. "I'll take you to get a new one in
the morning, Rob. There's nothing open this time of night.
We don't have any choice but to leave it here overnight.
I'll call the police and ask them to watch out for it until
then. We really don't have any choice. We might as well go
home."

They all got in Mike's Cobra and started out of the parking
lot. The last shows of the night had already started, so
there wasn't much traffic getting out of the parking lot.
Mike didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary until
he was close to getting on the highway. Then he noticed Bill
on his bumper like he had done Rob.

"I wish the guy behind me wouldn't follow so close," Mike
said.

Both Rob and Brian looked back to see what Mike was talking
about and their eyes quickly met. "It's the same guy that
was following us earlier," Rob yelled.

"Mike, it has North Carolina tags," Brian said loudly.

"You don't think it could be Bill, do you?" Mike asked
Brian.

"I don't know. I don't think so, but he might have moved
earlier than he said he was going to," Brian said with a
panicky voice.

"Who are you talking about?" Rob asked.

"We'll tell you later. Just write down the tag number.
There's a pen in the console," Mike said, as the light
turned green. "I'm going to lose him."

Mike floored it up the ramp, passing the only other car in
front of him on the right. He kept it floored until he was
well ahead of the Jeep, but they could all see that the Jeep
was accelerating as fast as it could go.

Mike didn't want to take a chance on getting a speeding
ticket going over 100 miles per hour, so he got off on the
next exit. He was still going about 70 down the ramp. They
were lucky. The light was green and Mike downshifted and
took the left turn lots faster than most cars would be able
to.

Mike drove home as fast as he could without risking a
ticket, using back roads. They all kept an eye out for the
Jeep, but didn't see it again.

When they pulled into the driveway and safely put the Cobra
into the garage, they all entered the house, shutting the
garage door opener as they entered.

"Will someone please tell me what's going on?" Rob asked.

"We will, but first, check your e-mail, Bri," Mike ordered.

Brian didn't hesitate. He ran full speed to his room and
quickly dialed in. He had accessed his e-mail within
seconds. And there it was. Another new message from Bill.
His hands were shaking as he clicked on it. Mike and Rob
read with him over his shoulder.

Do you really think that I'm going to let you get away with
this? Have you been fucking your little boyfriend all the
time we were supposed to be going together? I saw him come
running as soon as you broke up with me. You are going to
pay and pay dearly for this, YOU FUCKING LITTLE WHORE!!!
I'll be seeing you soon, and I can't wait!!!!
