		       ::*~Ocean Blue Chapter 4~*::

Tristan quietly closed his front door behind him and started
towards the stairs.

"Where the hell have you been?!" a voice yelled, stopping him in his
tracks.

Tristan turned to see his father sitting in on the couch, a half empty
beer bottle in his hand. Tristan looked around and noticed all the empty
bottles scattered all over the floor. His father had always had this thing
about calling if you were going somewhere after school. He always used to
say ` I'm a busy man Tristan, I don't have time to worry about where you
are'. Now, considering the circumstances, Tristan figured that this didn't
really apply anymore. Apparently he was wrong.

Tristan sighed and turned back towards the stairs.

"Answer me!" His father yelled from behind him.

Tristan just shook his head and kept walking. On about the fifth stair up
he felt a hand on his shoulder and spun around to find himself face to face
with his father.

"Don't you dare walk away from me!" His father slurred in Tristan's face,
barely able to keep steady.

"Get your hand off me." Tristan said in a low voice, looking his father
dead in the eyes.

"No, you owe me a fucking explanation, it's after six o'clock at night
dammit!" His father ranted . Tristan cringed as he smelt the alcohol on his
father's breath.

"I don't owe you shit." Tristan said in as calm of voice as he could
manage, removing his fathers hand himself. He turned and walked the rest of
the way to his room ignoring his father's yells.

Tristan slammed his door and threw himself face down on his bed. He
hadn't realized he was asleep until the phone rang and he noticed about
thirty minutes had passed.

"Hello." He answered, still a bit groggy.

"Hey loser!" Said a cheerful voice.

"Abbey?" Tristan said, excited to hear a friendly voice. "What's up?"

"Oh nothing much, how are ya holdin up?" Abbey asked worried about how
Tristan was handling everything that had happened.

Tristan sighed remembering the incident with his father, then immediately
brightened when he remembered his afternoon with Aiden.

"I'm good." he answered smiling.

"Wait a second....Tristan! I know that voice, what happened?!" Abbey asked,
knowing Tristan all too well.

"Nothing at all, why would you think something happened?" Tristan asked, as
innocently as possible.

"Don't mess with me Tristan come on, I wanna know" Abby said, whining.

" Well if you absolutely must now at this very moment," Tristan paused "I
met someone."
Tristan said quietly, as if it were a secret. A loud squeal came from the
other side of the phone and Tristan had to hold it away from his ear for a
moment. When he finally moved it back again he found Abbey in min sentence.

"Have you asked him out yet? Is he a good kisser? What's he like? Is he-"

"Abbey, Abbey, slow down, it's not exactly like that." Tristan said
interrupting.

"What do you mean it's not like that?" Abbey asked confused.

"Well for starters I don't even know if he's gay and even if he was I'm not
sure he'd be interested." Tristan explained

"So nothing's happened between you and him?" Abbey asked

"Well I uh, almost kissed him today, but um his mom came in." Tristan
replied

"So, you're telling me that you almost kissed a guy who you're not even
sure is gay or not? And even if he was you're not sure he'd be interested?"
Abbey said slowly

"Um, yea I guess" Tristan said realizing how foolish it sounded.

"Tristan," Abbey sighed "just-"

"Look Abbey, I know what you're gonna say and I am being careful, I just
have a good feeling about this guy."

"Ok, if you say so Tristan. SO tell me about this mystery guy Abbey said,
knowing it was no use to argue with Tristan over this.

"Well," Tristan started with a smile, "his name is Aiden and he's got these
absolutely amazing green eyes and this adorable stutter..."

Two hours and what seemed like a million topics later Tristan and
Abbey called an end to there conversation. Tristan decided he better start
getting ready for bed if he wanted any chance of waking up on time. Just
as he had changed into a pair of boxers and set his alarm his phone rang.

"Hello?" He answered, annoyed because he really was starting to get sleepy.

"T-tristan?" a familiar voice questioned

"Aiden?!" Tristan said, nearly shouting in his surprise

"H-hi" Aiden said shyly

"What's up?" Tristan asked, clearly excited. He didn't think to ask how
Aiden got his number, but that was fine with Aiden, since he didn't really
want to explain how he went through three phonebooks, then remembered that
Tristan wouldn't be listed and finally just called Information.

"N-nothing." Aiden stuttered in reply. He wasn't really used to talking on
the phone and was beginning to regret calling Tristan in the first place.

"Oh, did you call for something?" Tristan blurted out, not realizing how
rude it sounded.

"Um n-no, just t-to s-say h-hi." Aiden answered, blushing slightly.

"Oh, well that's cool. Is your mom feeling any better?" Tristan asked,
genuinely concerned.

"Y-yeah, a l-little bit." Aiden said, surprised and touched that Tristan
even remembered his mom being sick.

Tristan and Aiden talked for an hour or so until Aiden announced
that he had better go to bed. Tristan had forgotten how tired he was, and
realized it was after ten o'clock. He'd always been the kind of person who
needed like ten hours of sleep or else he could barely function the next
day. He sighed and turned off his light, knowing he was in for a long day
tomorrow.
					***

At five o'clock the next morning, while Tristan was still asleep
across town, Aiden was tying up his sneakers to go do his usual morning
mile and a half. On his way downstairs he peeked into his mom's room to
check on her, taking note of how much better she looked than yesterday. He
made sure the front door was unlocked as he closed it behind him
remembering the time he had locked himself out at four in the morning,
right in the middle of winter. As he began on his normal route he started
to think of everything that had happened to him in the last day.

Tristan was the kind of guy Aiden only dreamt of. It wasn't just
his looks that Aiden loved, it was the way he could be himself, stutter and
all, around Tristan. It was the way Tristan could put a smile on Aiden's
face and make him feel so at ease. It was absolutely everything about
Tristan that Aiden loved.

Aiden looked around and realized that he was almost back to his
house. It wasn't unusual for Aiden to lose track of time when he went
running, so he wasn't surprised. After he got inside, he showered, dresses,
and went downstairs for breakfast.

"Hey M-mom." Aiden said buttering a piece of toast.

"Hi honey." His mom chirped kissing Aiden on the forehead. She fixed
herself a cup of coffee and sat down across from Aiden. "So did you have a
good time yesterday?" she asked, smiling at the blush that crept onto her
son's cheeks. Aiden just nodded and picked at his toast. He picked up his
orange juice to take a sip and in mid drink his mother asked,

"Tristan's a cutie huh?"

Aiden choked on his juice and began coughing and sputtering. His mom just
smiled wider.

"Y-you did t-that on p-purpose!" Aiden accused, a scowl on his face.

" I haven't the slightest idea what you mean." She answered, trying, and
failing to look innocent.

"Ha h-ha ha v-very f-funny." Aiden said sarcastically.

"Come on, you know you think he's cute." Aiden's mom teased, reaching
across the table and shoving him playfully.

"N-never s-said h-he wasn't." Aiden said quietly. he couldn't help but
think for a moment, how lucky he was to have this kind of relationship with
his mother.

"Uh huh," she said nodding, "well I better go get ready for work." His
mother declared, standing up.

Aiden looked up, alarmed "W-what? Y-you're still s-sick m-m-mom!." His
mother looked better than yesterday, but she was certainly in no condition
to go clean houses all day.

"No, honey, I'm ok. We can't afford for me to use my sick day up on a
stupid cold." His mother said already heading towards the stairs.

Aiden wanted to argue but he knew its be no use. His mother worked
so hard and they barely got by, it just wasn't fair. Aiden just sighed and
turned his attention back to his toast. After a few minutes of nibbling on
the edges he decided he wasn't hungry anymore.

				    ***

"Get out of my way faggot!" a nameless voice snapped, pushing Aiden
into a wall. Aiden sighed, rubbed his shoulder, and kept walking. He got
about halfway to his locker before someone pushed him into another
wall. Aiden knew immediately it was going to be one of "those" days. The
kind of day that usually ended in a beating.

Aiden had just reached into his locker when a voice whispered in
his ear, "Hey queer boy, you and me are gonna have some fun after class."
Aiden froze, he knew that voice and he knew what it meant. It was Chad
Baker, the jock he usually sat next to in first period and it meant he'd
have to make a mad dash to his car after class. He'd made the mistake of
calling Chad's bluff once and taking his time getting out of class. One
black eye and two bruised ribs later Aiden promised himself he wouldn't do
it again.

Aiden continued gathering his things and made it to class just as
the bell rang. He looked around and noticed Tristan sitting, not in Aiden's
normal seat, but the seat next to it, leaving the seat next to Chad wide
open. Tristan smiled and waved at Aiden motioning him over. Aiden put on a
fake smile and headed towards the empty seat. He took a chance and looked
over at Chad, who smiled on of those smiles that was anything but
friendly. Aiden shivered and glanced over at Tristan. Tristan smiled, a
friendly smile of course, and Aiden relaxed a little.

The rest of class went by much to fast for Aiden's liking. As much
as he would of liked to stay and hang out with Tristan, he REALLY didn't
want to get beat up. So he ran. Well, more like walked quickly, but he was
out of there in a flash. He thought he heard Tristan calling his name but
he didn't stop. By the time he got to his car he was out of breath, not
from the quick walk there, but from the anxiety of almost getting beat up
again. Aiden hopped in his car and just drove. He didn't really have a
destination in mind, he just drove.

				    ***

Tristan stood in the hallway dazed. He couldn't understand why
Aiden would just run out like that. It couldn't be that he was
uncomfortable with the almost kiss yesterday. Or could it? It couldn't have
been or Aiden wouldn't have called last night, "just to say hi". Tristan
didn't get it. Maybe Aiden was just in a hurry or something.

Tristan was drawn out of his thoughts by someone calling his name,
"Hey man you got a free period right now or something?" The same jock
Tristan met yesterday said, standing in front of Tristan.

"Un, yea." Tristan said, a little uncomfortable, realizing he didn't know
this guy's name.

"You forgot my name huh?" The jock said.

Tristan wanted to point out that the guy never gave it, but instead he just
nodded.

"That's alright, my names Chad, Chad Baker." Tristan just smiled and gave
him a "cool". He was already beginning to figure Chad out. He played
football, he could tell from his varsity jacket. Tristan had one just like
it. Chad probably tried to make friends with anyone that showed even the
slightest hint of "cool." Tristan knew immediately what kind of guy Chad
was, because he used to be just like him.

"So you wanna meet me and some friends for lunch?" Chad asked. Tristan
wanted to say no. He didn't want to risk falling into the same crowd he
used to hang out with, but instead he found himself nodding.

"Cool, man meet me in the cafeteria at the beginning of lunch ok?" Chad
asked walking away, without waiting for an answer.

Tristan wasn't sure what to do with his free time, so he decided to
see if Aiden was home yet. It took him about a half hour to remembember
where Aiden lived and he was relieved when he said Aiden's car parked in
the driveway.

				    ***

Aiden was lounging on the couch watching TV when, his doorbell
rang. He wondered who it could be considering it was in the middle of a
school day and his mom didn't have many friends. He swung the door open
only to find Tristan on the other side.

"T-t-t-tristan?" Aiden managed to stutter out. To say he was shocked would
be an understatement.

Tristan blushed and looked down at his feet. Now that he was actually here,
he found himself becoming shy, which was definitely not normal for
Tristan. He had butterflies in his stomach and he hadn't even said
anything. "Hi Aiden." Tristan said quietly. Aiden just stared at him and
Tristan was beginning to wonder if him coming over was a mistake.

"C-c-ome i-in." Aiden said breaking the silence and moving aside. "D-do
y-you w-want something t-to drink?"

"No thanks" Tristan replied feeling awkward just standing there.

"Y-y-you can u-um s-sit." Aiden said pointing to the couch.

Tristan took a seat on the couch and Aiden joined him.

"So um, what are you watching?" Tristan asked, trying to relieve some of
the tension.

"Oh, u-um, n-nothing s-special y-you w-w-anna watch a m-movie?" Aiden
replied, relaxing a little. Tristan nodded and they eventually decided on
one of those made for TV movies. Half way through, Tristan looked over and
noticed that Aiden had fallen asleep. Tristan smiled at how adorable he
looked in his sleep. Somehow without realizing it Tristan had scooted
closer to Aiden so that their bodies were touching. Tristan started to move
away when Aiden mumbled in his sleep and let his head fall on Tristan's
shoulder. This wouldn't of made Tristan so uncomfortable except that Aiden
had managed to snake his arm around Tristan's waist holding him in
place. Tristan tried to keep his breathing as steady as he could. It really
didn't help that Aiden, the boy who practically made him weak in the knees,
laying on him.

Twenty minutes later, Aiden still hadn't stirred and Tristan knew
he'd have to wake him up soon. The movie wasn't quite finished but Tristan
remembered he had to have lunch with that Chad guy.

"Aiden." Tristan whispered, shaking him gently.

"Mrpmh" Aiden mumbled burying his head deeper in Tristan's
shoulder. Tristan chuckled softly and shook Aiden a bit harder.

Aiden's eyes fluttered open for a bit and Aiden yawned, "T-tristan?"

"Yeah, it's time to wake up." Tristan said, still whispering.

"O-ok." Aiden said untangling himself from Tristan, without thought and
before he could stop himself, he leaned over and gave Tristan a kiss on the
cheek.

Tristan was so startled he fell off the couch. He just stared up at
Aiden shocked. Was it just a friendly gesture? Did it mean something else?
Tristan's thoughts and his heart were racing. Aiden was just as shocked as
Tristan, if not more. He hadn't meant to do that it just seemed like the
most natural thing in the world at the moment. Aiden sat motionless on the
couch. He wasn't sure what Tristan's reaction was going to be , but so far
it wasn't good.

"Um.." Tristan started still on the floor. He had no idea what to say.

"S-sorry." Aiden said almost inaudibly looking at his hands.

Tristan scrambled onto the couch so he was next to Aiden. "Don't be sorry!"
He blurted without thinking. Aiden looked up, alarmed and Tristan just
blushed, "I mean um... it was um nice." Tristan whispered.

"R-r-r-really?" Aiden asked in disbelief.

Tristan just nodded and blushed an even deeper shade of red. He hadn't
blushed this much since...well ever. Aiden sat there stunned. He couldn't
help the goofy grin that spread over his face. Tristan noticed this,

"What are you smilin about?" He asked playfully, a little more relaxed now.

Aiden shook his head and smiled. Tristan nudged him in the side "Come on,
so what's the joke?" He asked laughing. Aiden just smiled wider and once
again before he knew what he was doing leaned in and kissed Tristan, this
time on the lips. It wasn't a madly passionate kiss, more like a quick
brush of the lips, but it was enough to get his point across.

Tristan's heart was beating so fast he thought he was gonna
have a heart attack. His brain was telling him to DO SOMETHING. KISS HIM
BACK. But he just couldn't move. Aiden sat next to him in horror at what he
had just done. He'd never been one to do things without thinking things
through. Everything just felt so right Aiden couldn't help himself, and now
he was wishing he had.

Finally Tristan got his heart to calm down and his senses back and
leaned in closer to Aiden, only coming halfway, in case he was making a
mistake. Aiden took a chance and leaned in the rest of the way. The kiss
was hesitant at first, but then gradually became more confident.

Both boys were soon completely lost in the kiss, Aiden not
believing it could be true, and Tristan thinking how it couldn't be more
perfect.
