Chapter 7: Conclusion

I sighed as I left the hospital; this had been a long ordeal and I just
wanted to go home. Customary (even though I don't need one) they wheeled me
out of the hospital on a wheelchair. My mother was there waiting with her
car, my dad was out of town so he wasn't there. We got in the car and
started the 15-minute ride home, all the while, the wheels in my head
turning. I was about to speak, but I had barely opened my mouth when my
mother beat me to it.

"Maxwell..." Oh god, she was using my full name. "Why would you...I
mean things couldn't have possibly been that bad that you would've..."
"Mother...you don't understand. It's just" I sigh, clutching the blue
henshin wand in my hand. "Everything has been bearing down on me. I've just
been MISERABLE these last few days." And with that, I tell her
everything. Being gay, the incident with Tyler, those jocks from school,
and all the while, my mother stays silent, listening to every word.

"Max..." She started. If things were getting that bad, then why didn't
you say anything? Me and your father would have helped you, you know that."

"No I didn't, mom, I was terrified at the time. I was barely sure
myself that I knew what was going on." I sigh again. I just want to go to
bed and sleep, as we pull into the driveway. We get to the front door, and
as I open it, the whole place is dark.

"Geez, mom." I say flipping on a light. "Someone could kill themselves
in he--"

"SURPRISE!!!" A couple of dozen people jump out, brandishing gifts and
party hats. "WELCOME HOME!!!"

"I jump back at the sudden surprise. "AAAAHH!!!" And being the
graceful person I am, stumble backwards over the ottoman and fall straight
back on my ass. I jump back up quickly, to save face, gasping for air. "Oh
my god, you scared the bejeezus outta me!" I manage to cry out as people
come up to me enveloping me in hugs. "Welcome home Max" "I'm glad you're
alright." Don't ever do anything like that again, or you'll wish you had
died." THAT one came from--guess who--good old Rei.

     "I won't Rei, I won't..." I hug her back smiling. "I've learned my
lesson."

After an hour or so of mingling, I excuse myself, step outside, and sit on
the steps, and get lost in my thoughts, completely oblivious to someone who
takes a seat next to me until he speaks up.

"...Max...?" I'm shaken out of my trance, and turn, finding myself looking
into the bluest, most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. I look over the body
of the person next to me; he's about an inch shorter than me, black
hair. (I already mentioned the blue eyes) I know him from my foreign
languages class; his name's Brian, and I sit next to him... Heh, I always
thought he was kind of cute, although I was totally for sure that he was
straight.

But before my thoughts could go any further, he continues speaking.

"I know this isn't probably a good time to say this, I'm sorry, but I
just have to!" I was confused for a moment, then that confusion mingled
with shock as he leans in quickly and presses his lips to mine. When the
kiss ends I pull back, looking at him wide-eyed.

     "You're..."

"Yeah, I'm gay. If you hate me, I understand, I'll leave..." He starts
to stand.

"NO!" I say it a bit louder than I intend, grabbing his hand, this
time my words are a bit softer. "Please don't go. I don't hate you...in
fact, I've been wanting that kiss for a long, long time." I blush madly as
I add, "I'm in love with you..." He takes his seat back beside me, and
looks at me.

"I was afraid you didn't feel the same way, Max."

"You? I was sure it was the other way around! You even went out with
Trina Brooks! (Trina is a VERY popular, very PREPPY girl at our
school... –shudder-)

"Oh that? My friend set me up with her; I didn't even want to go..."
blushing, he adds... "I'd rather go out with you..."

"Well, what's stopping you?" I reply, smiling. He leans over,
engulfing me in one of those word-shaking kisses. I pull back again, still
holding his hand and stand. "Come on...I should introduce you."

He looks a bit confused for a second. "Introduce me? To who?"

I laugh softly. "My mom. Come on." He smiles brightly as I slide open the
patio door and lead him into the house, eager to show off my new boyfriend
We have come to terms.

Author's Note: Well Guys! That's the end of `Reality Slap' But don't worry
because yours truly has decided to run another new story; of course though
it has two people from real life involved (Me and my Bri-chan Heehee!),
it's going to be purely fictional. (That make sense? >.<) Look out for my
next story coming soon, `Colors of Love' don't miss it, it's unbelievably
exciting!
