"BIG EXPLANATION"
"You're Alex's first boyfriend?" Ray asked confused
"Yea, he didn't mention me?" Dean asked
"No, he said he never had a boyfriend before." Ray
replied looking at Alex.
"I didn't, because everything Dean told me was a lie."
Alex said
"Alex, I didn't lie when I said I loved you." Dean
said
"Just leave Dean." Alex said
"Alex, can I talk to you privately, please?" Dean
asked
"No." Alex replied
"Hey, I just got out of jail. I haven't seen you in a
long time, the least you could do is just talk to me."
Dean stated
"You were in jail?" Ray asked
"Fine, I'll give you one minute." Alex said grabbing
Dean by the arm and pulling him outside. "I'll be
right back Ray."
Alex and Dean walked outside. Alex looked at Dean
with rage.
"What the hell are you doing?" Alex asked
"I just got out today." Dean replied
"I know." Alex said
"You did?" Dean asked
"Yea, I remembered that today was your release date."
Alex said
"Wow, I'm flattered you remembered." Dean said
"Is that all you wanted to say? Because I have a new
life now. One that doesn't involve you." Alex replied
"Alex, I'm not going to just go away." Dean said "I
love you. And, I want you back."
Alex starred at Dean with disbelief, shock and
discust.
"Just get away from me." Alex stated walking away from
Dean.
"This isn't over. I'll be back." Dean said then he
walked away.
Alex walked into the video store where Ray was waiting
from him.
"You ready?" Alex asked
"No." Ray replied "You said you never had a boyfriend
before."
"I didn't." Alex said
"What are you talking about? He just said he was your
first boyfriend." Ray pointed out confused
"My whole time with him was nothing, but lies. I
don't count what I had with him as a relationship."
Alex said
"Did you love him?" Ray asked
Alex looked up at Ray, not quite sure how to answer
that...
****JEFF'S APARTMENT****
Jeff was with Taylor on the couch kissing.
"You're amazing." Taylor sighed as he kissed Jeff's
neck. Jeff was enjoying the kissing too, but then he
looked over at his clock.
"Hold on a minute." Jeff said starting to get up.
"Jeff." Taylor whined slightly "Stay, come on."
"No, I need to make a phone call." Jeff said
"To who?" Taylor asked
"Dean." Jeff said
"The ex-boyfriend of Alex?" Taylor asked
"Yea." Jeff replied
"Dammit Jeff." Taylor said getting up.
"What?" Jeff asked
"That's all you ever think about!" Taylor said "You're
obsessed."
"That's not true." Jeff retorted
"Please, all you ever think about is Alex and Ray. If
you're going to be consumed with the thought of them
all night, then I don't want to be here!" Taylor
shouted
"Fine. Go." Jeff said simply
Taylor glared at Jeff then he picked up his coat.
"Sometimes I wonder why I'm even attracted to you."
Taylor said walking to the door.
"Funny, sometimes I ask myself why I let you touch
me." Jeff snapped.
"Goodnight Jeff!" Taylor shouted as he walked out the
door then slammed it shut.
Jeff watched the door for a moment, then he turned to
the phone and called up Dean on the cell phone that he
gave him.
"Hello?" Dean asked picking up the phone.
"Dean, how did the reunion between you and Alex go."
Jeff asked
"Not as well as I hoped." Dean replied
"Well, keep trying." Jeff said
"I know, I know. Anyway, I'll be at your place in
about a half hour." Dean said
"Sure, whatever." Jeff replied then he hung up.
Jeff walked around the apartment, but then he heard
noises coming from the hall way outside that caught
his attention.
"Are you going to answer me?" Jeff heard Ray's voice
ask
"I already told you, I don't consider what I had with
Dean a relationship." Jeff heard Alex's voice reply.
Jeff smiled and looked through the peek hole on his
front door and saw Ray and Alex heading into Ray's
apartment.
****RAY'S APARTMENT****
"That wasn't my question." Ray said as him and Alex
walked through the front door. "Did you love him?"
"It was a long-" Alex began, but Ray cut him off.
"Just answer the question. Please Alex, I need to
know." Ray said
Alex was quiet for a minute, but then replied "Yes, I
did love him."
"Then it was a relationship." Ray said
"No, well, at the time I thought it was, but there was
nothing but lies when I was with him, so I don't
consider it a relationship." Alex said
"But it was." Ray responded "It was a relationship to
you at the time."
Alex let that absorb into him, finally accepting the
fact that what he had with Dean was a relationship.
"I guesd you're right." Alex finally said after a
couple minutes of silence. "I just never wanted to
accept that fact."
"I get it. I really do. And I'm here for you." Ray
said comfortingly.
"Thank you." Alex said walking up to Ray and wrapping
his arms around him. Ray at first was suprised by the
hug, but then more than happily wrapped his arms
around Alex as well.
"This is the first time you've let me hold you in a
while." Ray said softly.
"I know. I'm sorry that I've kinda been avoiding you
for the past week." Alex said "It was just hard."
"I understand. And I can never apologize enough for
what I did." Ray said
"I know you're sorry." Alex said "And, I'm sorry I've
never really accepted your apology before. I know I
said I did, but I guess I just needed time."
"I know." Ray replied
"Right now though, all I want to do is just hold you."
Alex said
"No complaints here." Ray replied giving Alex a kiss
on his forehead.
****JEFF'S APARTMENT****
Jeff just stepped out of the shower when there was a
knock at his door. Jeff grabbed a towel and wrapped
it around his waste then he went to answer the door.
He looked through the peek hole and saw Taylor
standing there. Jeff rolled his eyes then opened the
door.
"What are you doing here?" Jeff asked cooly
"I don't want to fight with you." Taylor replied
"Well that's nice. Goodbye." Jeff said starting to
close the door.
"Wait." Taylor said slamming his hand against the
door, preventing it from closing.
"What?" Jeff asked
"Can I come in?" Taylor asked
"Fine." Jeff said holding the door open.
"Thank you." Taylor said walking in.
"So, what is it you have to say?" Jeff asked
"I was just walking around thinking about our stupid
fight and I just don't want to fight with you." Taylor
began "I just want to be with you."
"You do realize that I am not going to stop trying
breaking up Ray and Alex." Jeff said
"I know and I understand. I mean, Ray did hurt you a
lot." Taylor replied
"All right." Jeff said smiling a little.
"Great." Taylor said walking up to Jeff and kissing
him.
****RAY'S APARTMENT****
Ray and Alex were still holding one another.
"So you going to tell me about Dean?" Ray asked
"What do you want to know?" Alex asked
"Why was he in jail?" Ray asked
"He was involved with a gang related crime. His
friend, well my friend too, was killed." Alex replied
"Really?" Ray asked
"Yea, it was pretty aweful." Alex said
"So, were you still with Dean when he got arrested?"
Ray asked
"Yea, I was still with him for a little while after he
was in jail too." Alex said "But, my friend who died,
Russ, his funeral changed my mind about being with
Ray."
****FLASHBACK****
Alex was seated in a cemetary where a service was
being held for Russ.
"In a case of unnecessary violence this child of God
lost his life." the Pastor was saying. "He was a lost
lamb who was trying to fix his path and go the right
way, which ultimately lead to his leaving of this
earth and going up to Heaven. But we are not here to
feel sad for him, we are here to celebrate the life of
Russ Vanderbolt, a loving son and friend to us all.
But let us remember that nothing is permanent, and
that one day we will be rejoicing and celebrating with
Russ once again."
Alex sat there, tears stinging his eyes as Russ's
casket was being lowered into the ground. He sat
there thinking and decided...
****LA COUNTY JAIL****
"What are you doing here?" Dean asked talking to Alex
in the visitor area through a phone that was on his
side of the glass wall that separated them.
"I just came from Russ's funeral." Alex said
"Oh God." Dean said sadly
"And I realized that I can't be with you." Alex said
"You lied to me about being in that gang and it is
because of that gang that Russ is now dead."
"Alex, I told you I wasn't in that gang. The jury
didn't believe me, no one believes me." Dean said
"How am I supossed to believe you?" Alex asked
"Well, I was hoping our love would get us through this
rough path." Dean said
"Russ is dead now. It would take a hell of a lot more
than love. But, I'm not going to wait around anymore.
It's over." Alex said
Dean sighed in frustration "Fine, if you won't believe
me then maybe it is best that we break up."
"Goodbye." Alex said hanging up the phone and leaving.
****END FLASHBACK****
"So, now you know my deep dark secret." Alex said
"I wish you told me." Ray said
"It was just a time that I didn't want to be reminded
of again." Alex replied
Ray nodded, understanding completely.
"Well, he's back in your life. What do you want to do
about it?" Ray asked
"Not much I can do." Alex replied "I won't be able to
prevent him from coming here."
****PARK AREA BY A SMALL POND****
Dean was wondering around thinking over the situation
he was in. He did want Alex back, but he had no idea
how he was going to get Alex to trust him again.
"If only he knew how much I loved him." Dean said to
himself. He sat down on a rock and began to think of
happier times with Alex.
****FLASHBACK****
Alex and Dean were in Dean's room snuggling together
and watching TV.
"Hey Lex. I have a suprise for you." Dean said to
Alex, Lex being the nick name that Dean would call him
from time to time.
"A suprise?" Alex asked
"Yea. Go to that second drawer there at my dresser."
Dean replied
Alex got up and opened the second drawer and saw
nothing in it.
"It's empty." Alex said a bit confussed
"Of course it's empty. You haven't put anything
inside it yet. It's your drawer now." Dean said
smiling.
"You're giving me a drawer?" Alex asked smiling wide
"Yea." Dean replied smiling "You like it?"
Alex went back to Dean and kissed him.
"I love it. And I love you." Alex said
"I love you too." Dean replied
"Thank you." Alex said
"You're welcome." Dean responded giving Alex another
kiss.
"I'm going to go put some stuff in my drawer!" Alex
said happily picking his overnight bag up and walking
back to the dresser.
****END FLASHBACK****
"I don't know what I'm going to do." Dean said quietly
to himself "But somehow I'll get my Lex back."
****JEFF'S APARTMENT****
"Well, there's nothing like good old fashion make-up
sex." Taylor said laying next to Dean in bed.
"I've got to admit, that was pretty good." Jeff said
"Very good." Taylor corrected Jeff giving him a kiss.
"By the way, now that Alex's ex is here, I don't have
to keep trying to pursue him do I?"
"No, you don't have to. I'm leaving this all up to
Dean now." Jeff replied
Then Jeff's phone rang. Jeff reached over to the
phone next to the bed and answered.
"Hello?" Jeff asked
"It's Dean."
"Oh, hello Dean." Jeff replied "I thought you were on
you're way back here. It's been over two hours."
"I know. I got distracted. I'm on my way now." Dean
said
"All right. I'll talk to you in a little bit." Jeff
replied hanging up.
"You're letting Dean stay here?" Taylor asked
"Yea. But I told him he has to find a place to live
soon." Jeff replied
"Good." Taylor responded
Jeff looked over at Taylor and smiled.
"Are you jealous?" Jeff asked
"Jealous of what?" Taylor asked
"Jealous that I'm letting Dean live it here for a
while and not you." Jeff replied
"Don't be ridiculous." Taylor said
"Okay, I'm just making sure. Wouldn't want you
feeling left out or anything." Jeff said
"I'm fine with it. He better not touch you is all I
have to say." Taylor said
"Please, like I'd let that jail rat do anything to
me." Jeff replied laughing.
Ted walked up to Jeff and started kissing his neck.
"Good, because I don't like sharing." Taylor said.
Jeff meanwhile was busy enjoying what Taylor was doing
to him.
****RAY'S APARTMENT****
"How did Dean know where you worked?" Ray asked
"He used to work at the video store with me." Alex
replied
"Oh really?" Ray asked
"Yea, he's actually the reason I wanted to work
there." Alex confessed
"I knew there had to be a reason you wanted to work at
that video store in the first place." Ray said
smiling.
"Hey, I'm going to go for a walk." Alex said heading
to the door.
"Want me to go with you?" Ray asked
"No, I just need to think. I'll be back." Alex said
then left.
Alex stepped outside and headed to the elevator.
Before he could hit the elevator button the elevator
doors opened and Dean stepped out.
"Alex." Dean said as he walked up to him.
"Dean." Alex replied
"I wanted to apologize." Dean said
"For what? Ruining my life?" Alex asked
"I know. I had no right to just walk back into your
life after all this time." Dean said
"That's right. You didn't." Alex said
"I'm really sorry Lex." Dean replied
"Don't call me Lex. You can't call me that anymore."
Alex said
"Sorry." Dean said sincerely.
"What do you want Dean?" Alex asked
"You." Dean replied after a minute to think of an
answer.
"What?" Alex asked confused.
"I mean, as a friend. I want to be friends." Dean
said "Please?"
"I don't know Dean. There are so many lies between
us." Alex said
"You still don't believe me about the whole gang
situation?" Dean asked
"No. You've never given me a reason to believe you."
Alex retorted
"So, here we go again right? We're going to start
fighting over something that's in the past?" Dean
asked
"That night a friend of mine died. It wasn't just
some event that happened in the past, it was an event
that killed a friend. An event that I think you could
have prevented." Alex said
"So the real reason you're mad at me is that Russ died
right?" Dean asked
"Of course that's why I'm mad at you! You say his
name like it's just some person who didn't matter!"
Alex yelled.
"He did matter to me!" Dean shouted back. "He was my
best friend."
"Then why does it seem like you don't even care?" Alex
asked brushing past Dean, he then hit the elevator
door open and stepped inside. Dean wasn't ready to
end their conversation so he stepped inside as well.
"It hurts too much to think about it." Dean said "I
miss him."
"You have a screwed up way of showing it." Alex
remarked.
"It's how I deal with my emotions. You should know.
When we were together did I ever show you my
vulnerable side?" Dean asked
"Yes." Alex replied
"When?" Dean asked
"I'm suprised you don't remember." Alex said
"Oh, yea." Dean said remembering "I remember now."
****FLASHBACK****
Alex was sitting on his couch watching TV when his
cell phone rang.
"Hello?" Alex asked picking up the phone.
"It's me." Alex heard Dean's voice say.
"Hey." Alex replied
"Can you meet me right now?" Dean asked
Alex looked at his watch that read 8:30 PM.
"Sure. Where are you?" Alex asked
"I'm in front of my house. Please, come and pick me
up." Dean replied his voive shaking a little.
"Sure. Hold on. Are you okay?" Alex asked
"No." Dean replied then hung up.
Alex hurred and grabbed his keys then went to his car
and headed over to Dean's house. When he got to
Dean's house, Dean was sitting in front of his house
on the side curb. Dean got up and went over to Alex's
car.
"Thanks." Dean said getting inside the car.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked
"Can we just drive around for a little bit?" Dean
asked ignoring Alex's question.
"Sure." Alex replied
Alex and Dean drove around for about 10 minutes in
silence. Tired of it, Alex pulled into an empty
parking lot and turned off the car.
"Talk to me." Alex said turning to Dean.
"It's nothing." Dean replied
"Nothing? Dean, nothing wouldn't have had you call me
Thursday night and have me come and pick you up." Alex
said
Dean didn't say anything.
"Problems with school?" Alex asked
"No." Dean replied
"Your friends?" Alex asked
"No." Dean replied
"Family." Alex asked
Dean didn't say anything.
"You're dad?" Alex asked
"Would you stop pressing me for information?!" Dean
said lashing out at Alex. "I said I don't want to
talk!"
"Okay, if you're going to shut me out like this. Then
I'm going home." Alex said starting his car up. "I'll
drop you off at your home or a friend's house. Where
do you want me to take you?"
"Alex don't do this." Dean said
"Dean, just tell me where you want to go." Alex said
getting frustrated "I can't be there for you if you
won't open up to me."
Dean didn't say anything.
"Dean, I know you like to pretend you're this big
tough guy 24/7, but I'm your boyfriend, you don't have
to hide from me." Alex said comfortingly.
Dean looked over at Alex, and for the first time ever
Alex saw tears in Dean's eyes.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked
"It's my dad." Dean said quietly. "I told him about
us."
"You did?" Alex asked a little suprised.
"Yea." Dean replied
"Didn't go well?" Alex asked
"He wants me to leave as soon as I graduate. He wants
me to leave the house. He's kicking me out Alex."
Dean said breaking down.
Alex leaned over and gave Dean a hug.
"It's going to be okay." Alex said trying to comfort
Dean.
"I don't know what I'm going to do." Dean said through
his tears.
"You'll get through this." Alex said holding Dean
tight.
****END FLASHBACK****
"I almost forgot about that night." Dean said as the
elevator opened up to the lobby.
"I'll never forget it." Alex said simply.
"Why's that?" Dean asked
"Because that was when I got to see the side of you
that you try so hard to hide from everyone." Alex
replied "That's when I knew how much I loved you."
Alex and Dean were both quiet for a minute. Alex was
remembering the love he once had for Dean and Dean saw
that little bit of hope that he's been looking for
that Alex still has feelings for him.
"Alex, please, is there anyway we can be friends
again?" Dean asked
"Yea, there is one way." Alex said
"What is it?" Dean asked
"Promise me that nothing will ever happen between us
again." Alex replied
Dean looked at Alex, not quite sure of how to answer
that.
****RAY'S APARTMENT****
There was a knock on Ray's door so he got up from the
couch to go answer it, hoping that it will be Alex.
He opened the door and was dissapointed to see Jeff
standing there.
"What do you want Jeff?" Ray asked cooly.
"It's been a while since we've seen one another. I'm
just wondering how you're doing." Jeff replied
sounding sincere.
"I'm fine. Now, if that's all you have to say..." Ray
said beginning to close the door, but Jeff put his
hand against the door to keep Ray from closing it.
"Ray, what's wrong?" Jeff asked
"You're what's wrong. You always have alterior
motives, so just tell me what you're really doing
here." Ray said angrily.
"Okay, well I was headed out the door when I saw Alex
talking to some guy and they seem to have had a
history together. Is it an ex-boyfriend of his?" Jeff
asked
"You'd just love that wouldn't you? You would like
that if some love from Alex's past came in and took
Alex away from me." Ray snapped
"Well, I'll admit, I would like to see you sufer here
and there." Jeff replied simply. "However, I do still
care a great deal for you and I was just making sure
you were okay."
"Well, don't worry about me. I'm fine." Ray said then
closed the door on Jeff. Jeff stood there for a
minute, smiling to himself.
Ray leaned against the door and thought about what
Jeff said. Could he be right? Could this Dean guy
steal Alex away from him? Ray realized that after the
horrible thing he did to Alex, it just might help push
Alex away from him and closer to Dean...
Meanwhile, Alex and Dean were looking at one another,
Dean was still unsure as to how he was going to handle
Alex's proposition.
"Well?" Alex asked "Can you promise me that nothing
will ever happen between us again?"
"Alex." Dean began "I can't promise that, I can only
promise that I won't try and break you and Ray up, but
if something does happen between us, I'm not going to
try and stop it."
"I guess that's fair enough." Alex said
"So, are we going to try and be friends again?" Dean
asked
Alex looked at Dean a bit hesitant to answer, but
finally said "Yea, we'll try it."
"Great." Dean said smiling.
"Okay, but I have to get back to Ray." Alex said
"All right. I'll talk to you later." Dean said
Alex turned around and began to walk away, but then
turned back to Dean.
"How did you know where to find me?" Alex asked
"What do you mean?" Dean asked, realizing that he's
about to get busted...
"How did you know where Ray's apartment was?" Alex
asked curious.
"Oh, well, it's kind of hard to explain." Dean replied
"Try." Alex said getting more than a little
suspicious.
Dean stood there silent for a while, thinking of how
to explain it with out blowing his and Jeff's cover,
but wasn't able to come up with anything...
"Okay, the truth is..." Dean began
"Yes?" Alex asked
"You're not going to like it." Dean replied
"Just tell me Dean." Alex said pressing.
"Fine... I...followed you there." Dean said "I watched
you go off and I kind of followed you back there
because I really wanted to talk to you."
"Oh." Alex replied smiling a little.
"Sorry, I know it seems kind of stalker like, but we
had something once and I just wanted to talk to you."
Dean said sounding very sincere.
"Okay, well I should get going." Alex said smiling.
"I'll talk to you later."
"Yea, bye." Dean said as he watched Alex walk off.
Dean then sighed with relief that he was able to make
that up so quickly.
****RAY'S APARTMENT****
Alex walked through the door and saw Ray had fallen
asleep on the couch. He went over and laid down next
to Ray. Ray woke up and smiled when he saw Alex.
"Hey." Ray said
"Hi." Alex replied
"I was worried." Ray said
"About what?" Alex asked
"Well, Jeff came over and told me he saw you talking
to someone that looked to be an old flame of yours.
Was it Dean?" Ray asked
"Yea." Alex replied
"I was afraid that you might want to go back to Dean
or something." Ray said showing a bit of
vulnerability.
"I thought we talked about this already." Alex said
"I know, but still after what I did to you, it
wouldn't really suprise me if you wanted to go back to
Dean." Ray revealed.
"Ray, I forgave you for what happened rememeber? And
Dean and I had nothing but lies between us. I would
never give up what I have with you for what I had with
him." Alex said giving Ray a kiss.
"Really?" Ray asked smiling.
"Really." Alex replied hugging Ray. But while he was
hugging him he couldn't help but remember...
****FLASHBACK****
Dean and Alex were kissing.
"I love you." Dean said between kisses.
"I love you too." Alex replied
"I wanted to talk to you about something." Dean said
breaking the kissing.
"What is it?" Alex asked
"I was thinking. After I graduate, since I have to
leave my home. I'm going to buy an apartment." Dean
said
"Okay, and?" Alex asked not sure where Dean was going
with this.
"And I was hoping that after you graduate from high
school, you'll consider moving in with me." Dean said
"Are you serious?" Alex asked smiling.
"Yea." Dean replied
Alex didn't need any time to answer he blurted out an
enthusiastic "Yes!"
Alex threw his arms around Dean and kissed him some
more.
"Thank you so much." Dean said holding Alex.
"I love you." Alex said
"I love you too." Dean replied
****END FLASHBACK****
Alex lied there hugging Ray, but still couldn't help
but remember the good times he once had with Dean...
