"JEFF'S TRIUMPH"

****JEFF****

      I was on the phone in my new apartment
caacquaintancen aquantence of mine.

"Harvy Lewis?" I asked on the phone "Yes, this is Jeff
Morales....I know it has been a while....No, I'm
calling because I have a job for you....I need you to
give me any information you can about a guy named Alex
Grant....yes that's right.....He's a senior in high
school....Why do I want information on him?  Harvy,
why ask questions if your getting paid?  Just do
it....all right....goodbye."

I hung up the phone and then went to go to see Taylor.

****RAY****

I was lying in bed looking at Alex sleeping next to
me.  He looked amazing, peaceful.  His hair was
sloppy, the t-shirt he's wearing was all wrinkled up
and lifted up enough for me to see his abs, the pj
pants he was wearing made him look even more precious.
 I leaned down and kissed him on the forehead and he
slowly opened his eyes.

"What time is it?" Alex asked

"About 8:30 in the morning." I replied

"I was here the whole night?" Alex asked sleepily

"Yea." I replied smiling

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take up your whole night
like that." Alex said then gave a yawn

"No, I'm glad you spent the night." I said "I actually
wish you'd do it more often.  I like waking up with
you right next to me."

"How long have you been up?" Alex asked

"An hour.  I've just been watching you." I replied

"I'm sure that was fun." Alex said sarcastically

"It was actually.  You looked perfect." I said

"My breath probably isn't perfect.  I probably have
morning breath." Alex said "So, I'm going to go brush
my teeth. Do you have an extra tooth brush?"

"Yea, check the drawer under the sink in the
bathroom." I said

"Thanks." Alex replied getting up.

"So what do you say?" I asked

"What do I say' about what?" Alex replied

"What do you say about staying over here more often."
I asked

"I don't know.  I mean, I guess I could on some
weekends." Alex replied while brushing his teeth.

"Awesome." I replied

After about a minute Alex came out of the bathroom.

"So, are you okay with Jeff living next door?" Alex
asked

"Of course not.  I hate it, but there's not much I can
do." I replied

"What is he trying to do?" Alex asked

"I don't know.  I know he's up to something, but
knowing Jeff the way I know him. It's something that I
won't be able to figure out until it's too late." I
said

"Great." Alex said sarcastically, then he came over to
me and gave me a hug.

****JEFF****

"So, let me get this straight Taylor.  You are not
going to pursue Alex anymore?" I asked

"No." Taylor replied

"I see, and may I ask why not?" I asked getting angry

"Because, him and Ray made up right? So what would the
point be? I'd just get turned down." Taylor answered

"Listen Taylor, I'm paying you good money to do this.
So, don't even think about backing down now." I said

"But-" Taylor began but I cut him off

"No buts." I said "Just do it."

"Fine." Taylor replied "But if you ask me this is just
going to be a waste of time. He won't give in to me
now."

"I know that, but I have some other thing planned.  I
just need you to keep pursuing him now to keep him
side tracked." I said

"What do you have planned?" Taylor asked

"You'll see." I replied

****ALEX****

"Okay, so I'll see you later." I said as I was getting
ready to leave for work.

"Yea, want to come over tonight?" Ray asked

"Sure." I replied

"Great.  I'll see you tonight." Ray said

"Cool.  But I'm running late so I have to go." I said
as I hurried to the door, but before I could get to it
Ray grabbed me by the arm and gave me a hug.

"Hold on a second." Ray said smiling, then he gave me
a kiss.

"K, thanks." I said smiling "So, I'm just going to
go."

I opened the door and looked back at Ray.

"That was, nice.  Very, very nice." I said smiling
then I left.

****RAY****

After Alex left I went into the kitchen and called up
Larry.

"Hello?" Larry asked picking up the phone.

"Hey Lar, it's Ray." I said

"What's going on?" Larry asked

"Listen, I need you to come over here." I said

"Sure, no problem.  But why?" Larry asked

"We need to figure out what Jeff his trying to do." I
said

"I'll be right over." Larry said then we hung up.

****ALEX****

While I was at work, I was sitting behind the counter
bored to death as usual.  Fortunately David and Cheryl
came in.

"Thank God!" I said "I was so bored."

"Figured you would be." Cheryl said handing me a
smoothie from the juice bar next door.

"Thanks." I said

"No problem." Cheryl replied

"So, I tried calling you last night at your house, but
no one was home." David said

"Oh." I replied

"Where were you?" David asked smiling

"I was over at Ray's." I answered as if it was no big
deal and I took a sip of my smoothie.

"Did someone get lucky last night?" Cheryl
supposeughing

"No. It wasn't like that." I said "Stop thinking
between your legs."

"Oh come on.  What are we supossed to expect?  You
weren't home last night, you were over at Ray's all
night.  I mean, we just put two and two together."
David said

"Well, you guys are really bad at putting two and two
together, because nothing happened.  I went over to
his place after school and we just hung out and I was
really tired so I fell asleep there and when I woke up
it was morning." I said

"Good thing your parents are out of town for the
weekend or they would have freaked out if you didn't
come home last night." Cheryl said

"I know." I replied

"So, have you figured out what's going on with Jeff
moving in next door to Ray?" David asked

"No, but I think Ray's going to try and find out
today." I said

"How?" Cheryl asked

****RAY****

"I say we just kick his ass." Larry said as he sat
down on my couch next to me.

"Larry, I'm serious." I said

"I am too." Larry replied "Listen, he's not just going
to tell us if we ask nicely."

"Yea, but if I do try and kick his ass, that will just
be another thing he has that can turn against me and
Alex." I said "I'll end up being the monster he's
trying to make me out to be."

"Ray, it's survival of the fittest bud.  I hate to say
it, but when this battle is over one of you will go
down and I'd really like it if it were Jeff that was
going down instead of you." Larry said

"I know, but I can't just go and beat it out of him."
I said "I need to do be as manipulative as him."

"Well, that will definitely be a challenge considering
Jeff is the king of manipulation." Larry said

"I know." I said "But, I'll think of something."

We both sat silent for a couple minutes...

"Or maybe we're just blowing this out of proportion."
Larry said

"What do you mean?" I asked

"Maybe Jeff doesn't have anything planned at all."
Larry said "Or maybe this is his plan, he just moved
in to make you think he was planning something.  So,
you and Alex would get all worked up over this that it
would ruin you two."

"That does sound like a possibility." I said

"In fact. I think we're giving Jeff to much credit by
thinking he's planning something." Larry said

"You think?" I asked

"Sure, so don't give this too much thought okay?"
Larry asked "You just might be getting yourself worked
up over nothing.  Don't worry about it until Jeff
actually does try and do something."

"All right." I said

****ALEX****

"Have a great day." I said to a customer as I handed
her the video she rented and then left.

As she walked out the guy who I met a few days ago
here came in.  I think his name was Taylor.

"Suprise." Taylor said coming up to me.

"Hey." I answered

"So I brought back 'Happy Gilmore'." Taylor said
handing me the video

"Thanks." I said putting it in the 'videos to be
shelved' section.

"How are you?" Taylor asked

"I'm fine." I replied

"Glad to hear it." Taylor said "So, how are things
with you and your boyfriend?"

"Good. A lot better." I said

"Well, I have to say, I'm a little upset to hear
that." Taylor replied

"Are you now?" I asked smiling a little.

"So, there's no way I could steal you away now huh?"
Taylor asked

"Sorry." I replied

"Well, it doesn't mean I can't try." Taylor said
smiling "I'll see you soon."

I watched Taylor go and wondered if he was serious
about trying something.

****RAY****

     I tried listening to Larry's advice and not care
about what Jeff may or may not have planned, but I'm
not going to be a sitting duck so I went over to
Jeff's place to confront him.

"Jeff are you there?" I asked pounding on the door.

"What is it?" Jeff asked opening up the door.

I walked past him into his place.

"Come on in." Jeff said

I looked at Jeff very sternly and glared.

"Well now, you look as if you're going to try and kick
my ass." Jeff said smiling.

"I will if you try and do anything." I said

"What to you mean?" Jeff asked

"You think you're real clever arinterruptingu?  Moving
in here, right next door to me." I said

"So?" Jeff asked

"Don't act dumb with me Jeff!" I yelled "You may be a
lot of things but dumb is not one of them."

"Well, thank you." Jeff said smiling

"Quit interupting me!" I said picking up a plate on
Jeff's table and throwing it at the wall.

"You son-of-a-bitch!" Jeff said and picked up another
glass plate that was on the table and threw it at me,
but I ducked out of the way and it shattered against
the wall.

"Listen Jeff!" I said grabbing him by the arms "Don't
test me."

"Get off of me!" Jeff yelled and pushed me away.  "You
think you're the ruler of everything don't you?  You
think that everyone should bow down to you and worship
you.  Well, I am not one of your followers Ray! So,
step off of your thrown, because when I'm done you
will be the one graveling at my feet."

"I won't let you!" I yelled and threw a punch at Jeff.
 I hit him in the stomach and be bent over for a
second then he recovered and threw a punch back and
hit me in the face before I could get out of the way.
I stepped back a minute then I hurled myself at him.

****ALEX****

I finished up my shift at the video store and headed
over to Ray's.  When I got there I knocked on the
door, but there was no answer, then I heard a crash
over at Jeff's new place.  I was going to go see if
everything was okay, but that woulforwardest that I
actually care about Jeff, so I tried to open Ray's
door and fortunately it was unlocked so I went inside.

"Ray?" I called out "You here?"

****JEFF****

"Get exhaustion!" Ray called out and threw me off of
him.

     I fell back on the couch and Ray launched foward
at me.  He then punched me and I punched him back.

"Ass!" I said as I shoved him off of me.

I tried to get up, but Ray grabbed me and threw me
against the wall.  I then just collapsed from
exhastion.

"Consider this a warning." Ray said and then headed
towards the door. "If you want to go a couple more
rounds I'm right next door."

****ALEX****

I just sat down on Ray's couch when I heard the door
open.

"Ray?" I called out.

"Yea, it's me." I heard Ray say, then he walked into
the living room and his shirt was all torn up and he
had some scratches and bruises on his face.

"Oh my God!" I said "What happened?"

I went up to him and helped him to the couch.

"Oh, I'm fine." Ray said "Don't worry about me."

"What the hell happened?" I asked

"Jeff." Ray replied

"Jeff did this to you?" I asked

"I'm going to go kick his ass" I said getting up.

"No, don't.  You think I look bad?  You should see
what I did to Jeff." I said smiling, but winced a
little because it hurt to even smile.

"What happened?" I asked

"I went over there to tell Jeff that whatever he had
planned wouldn't work and things got out of hand." Ray
said

"Obviously." I replied  "Stay here I'm going to go get
you some ice."

I went into the kitchen and filled a plastic bag with
a couple cubes of ice and then wrapped ammunitionowel
so it wouldn't drip too much.  Then I went back into
the living room and put the bag gently over Ray's eye.

"Thanks." Ray said

"You shouldn't have started a fight with him." I said

"Why not? He deserved it." Ray replied

"Yea, he deserves a lot of things, but this just might
give him some more amunition to use against you." I
said

"Don't worry, I'll be able to handle any punch that he
tries to throw at me.  Both figuratively and
literally." Ray said

"Just be careful okay?" I asked

"I will." Ray replied "Thanks watching out for me."

"Anytime." I said giving him a kiss.

"You're such a great guy.  I can't believe you never
had a boyfriend before, you seem almost too good to be
true." Ray said

"Yea well, I guess I just never found a good guy
before you." I said to Ray who doesn't know the entire
truth about my past.  It's just a chapter of my life
that I want to stay hidden from everyone.

****JEFF****

I got up off the floor and went over to the couch and
sat down, but then there was a knock at the door.  I
looked around at my now, trashed apartment, but I
didn't care.

"Come in." I said

And then the door opened and Harvy Lewis walked in.

"What the hell happened here?" Harvy asked

"A tornado blew through my apartment." I replied "So,
I assume since you're here you have news for me?"

"Of course and I think this will really interest you."
Harvy said
surprised#34;What is it?" I asked

"Well, I looked up your friend Alex Grant." Harvy
began

"He's not a friend." I replied

"Oh, well anyway, I found out that he had a previous
boyfriend." Harvy said

"So?" I asked

"Well his ex-boyfriend's name is Dean Horowitz." Harvy
said "And he's in jail."

"What?" I asked suprised

"Yup." Harvy replied

"Are you telling me that Alex Grant has an old
boyfriend who is now in jail?" I asked

"Yeah, he's in jail on charges of being involved in a
gang related crime." Harvy added

"When will he be released?" I asked intrigued

"Next month."Harvy replied

"Harvy, you just found out something far better then I
could even imagine." I said

"Thank you." Harvy said

"Listen, when he this Dean Horowitz gets out of jail I
want you to get me a location of where I can contact
him at.  I have some business to discuss with him." I
said smiling

Just wait until I get Alex now!
