----------

In the other tent, the former roommates were also discussing a subject near
and dear to the hearts of adult men -- sex. Both agreed that marriage
hadn't been exactly what they had imagined it to be from the outside. Once
they'd made the commitment, there seemed to be no turning back until death
had claimed Ben's mate and divorce Scott's.

Ben had initially felt adrift without Lisa. He had loved her dearly even
though he had often felt that there was something missing in his life.
Lisa had given him the most precious gift a man could receive -- a son
who was the light of his life. Even through in the stress of the funeral,
hospital bills, and grieving; Josh had been his reason for going on. He
acknowledged that he had neglected the boy, emotionally, for a time. But
now, he and his son were a unified team. Nothing could come between them.
At least that was what he hoped.

Scott admitted that his marriage to Tina had been a mistake from the start.
If she hadn't conceived on their honeymoon, he probably would have thrown
in the towel before their first anniversary. By then, Eric was a part of
his life. Scott loved that boy more than anything in the world and had
been devastated when Tina was granted almost total custody. He had limited
visitation rights and a two-week time with the boy in the summer. Eric's
drinking too much and losing his job at the time of the divorce had played
an important part in the court's decision. Fortunately, he'd straightened
his life out immediately after the proceedings were over. Unfortunately,
it was too late to do much about it.

Shortly after they had parted, Tina moved to the Chicago suburb of Des
Plaines and worked her way up to being a high powered real estate agent.
Back in Iowa, Scott was struggling to get his on-line business off the
ground. Given the discrepancy in their incomes, no judge would agree to
revisit the case. Still, Scott was expected to scrape up a child support
payment each month. Often that had meant nothing left over for his needs
and wants. Sometimes he had even had to scrimp on food. But that was
ancient history since he was now doing quite well. His income was still
about half of what Tina's was, but it was improving by the month.

"Did you ever wonder what life would be like if we had taken another road?"
Ben asked.

"Often -- but things were different then; not as open as they are today."

Scott was lying on his back with his eyes closed remembering their years
together in college. He could picture them cuddled together in one of the
twin beds after a half hour of great love-making. He was startled, but
pleased, when he felt Ben's lips against his. He moaned his appreciation.

"Shh, the boys will hear us," Ben cautioned. "I'm not ready to have THAT
talk with Josh right now. We're close and all, but..."

"Sorry, I know what you mean. If Tina had a video of this scene for
evidence I'd probably lose even my two weeks with Eric."

"Last month, I talked to the judge again showing him my income and pleading
my case. He said that Eric was old enough now to make his own choice. But
after the way his mother has poisoned him against me, I probably don't
stand a chance. Besides, he's really angry with me for forcing this trip
on him."

"I hope that you can have him living with you, but I also have another
wish. Maybe you and I could have a chance to be together. Is it feasible
to have another shot at the life we were meant to lead?" Ben asked
wistfully.

"If you meant that kiss as much as I did, I'd say the odds are good --
great, actually! But how are we going to tell the boys. Will Josh and you
still be as tight when he finds out? I truly hope that I don't lose Eric
over it. I think he needs me in his life as much as I need him. But I'd
have to level with him before I asked him to live with me."

"You're still a straight-shooter, pardon the pun. You could never do
anything dishonest."

"Except getting married, perhaps," Scott said softly. "I wish we were
sharing a tent tonight."

"If we were, I can't promise I wouldn't rape you!" Ben snickered.

"Rape implies that one of the parties isn't willing?" Scott reminded him.
"And as I recall, you're the one who liked being on the bottom more that I
did."

"The rain has stopped," Ben whispered in Scott's ear. "We'd better get
things organized for supper. The boys are bound to be hungry."

As he finished talking, he ran his wet tongue over Scott's earlobe and
nibbled on it gently. Then he placed his left hand on Scott's crotch to
confirm that his actions had had their desired effect. Yup, Scott had a
raging boner in his shorts. Damn! It would be great if they could sleep
together.

The men's moment of passion was broken by the sounds of their sons starting
the campfire.

----------

When the rain had begun, Josh had had the foresight to cover the wood
supply with a tarp. The last campers had left an ample amount of birch and
pine logs for the next campers to use. There was also a big limb that
could be cut up into burnable chunks.

Josh showed Eric how to set up a campfire that they could start with a
single match. The boys pealed off a number of pieces of the paper-like
birch bark. These they placed under a crisscross pile of twigs and small
branches. They stacked all of the layers in a manner that allowed for the
free flow of air between them. Once those got going well, larger pieces
could be put on top.

Eric was a quick study, doing exactly what Josh told him to do. He was
gratified by the compliments that Josh was giving him for his efforts. It
felt good to be doing something that was so primitive and yet so necessary
for early man's survival.

Soon they had a first-class fire going. Josh reminded Eric that they
should let the pine twigs all burn out before attempting to grill the
steaks lest they end up with a turpentine taste. Dan, the outfitter, had
advised them to use a birch log fire even though the coals would not last
long.

While the boys tended the fire, the men were using the two tiny camp stoves
to heat water for the mashed potato flakes and the dried corn. The water
had been collected in the middle of the lake where there was less sediment.
Boiling would purify it.

Since the steaks were still frozen in the middle, they would have to be
thawed by placing them at the edge of the heat and turning them often.
Eric was assigned that job. He hoped that he wouldn't mess things up. It
was important to him that Josh would think he was capable of doing the task
without having to be shown how.

----------

Eric was, in fact, a pretty good cook. He might not be an outdoorsman, but
he knew his way around a kitchen. He had helped his grandmother with meals
when he was younger; and after she died, he had taken on a lot of the
cooking. His mother was always out closing some important sales deal and
he was frequently left to fend for himself. She had provided him with lots
of toys, but he had often felt abandoned.

Eric was beginning to wonder what it would be like to live with his dad.
Scott worked out of his house at the computer most of the time. Would that
make him more available to come to see Eric on stage or in a swim meet, or
would he be too busy too?

His mind snapped back to the present as he heard Josh speaking.

"Hey, Dad, would you mind if Eric and I shared a tent? It might be fun for
us young dudes to have a chance to get acquainted and you "old guys" might
like to relive your college days again and again."

"Well..." Ben began.

"If you really don't want us to, that's okay too," Josh continued. "We
were just thinking that we have a lot in common."

Scott and Ben glanced at each other trying not to show their glee at the
suggestion.

"I'd be okay with that," Scott said casually. "I don't think Eric is very
happy with his old man at the moment anyway."

"Uh, Dad, I'm not that pissed at you anymore. It's not as bad as I
thought..."

Scott bit at the corners of his lips in an attempt not to grin. "Thanks,
Son. I'm pleased that I'm not on your hit list at the moment."

Eric stood looking at the ground, blushing from making his confession, but
happy that his dad didn't embarrass him further by pursuing the subject.

"I'd be okay with that arrangement too," Ben spoke up, getting back to the
topic at hand. "Scott and I could do some reminiscing and I'm sure you
kids could find things to talk about that might be more interesting to you
than listening to your dads."

---------

Eric was smiling inside when he got compliments on how well he had cooked
the steaks. Everyone had wanted them between medium and medium rare and he
had hit the range perfectly without having the controlled heat of a gas
grill to cook them on.

Everything tasted excellent to the guys. Even the instant mashed potatoes
weren't bad with the addition of squeeze-bottle margarine and salt and
pepper. The corn was surprisingly good.

Josh had packed graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars for
making s'mores for dessert. That was always his favorite. He and Eric
vied to see who could best toast a marshmallow to a golden brown without
having it catch on fire.

Ben reminded them that there was chocolate pudding mix to be cooked up for
dessert, but everyone thought that it could be done at a later date. Once
they got settled in the place where they would be staying for three days,
it could be made ahead and allowed to cool before supper.

After they had cleaned the dishes, pots and pans, and other utensils, the
guys hoisted their food packs up on a rope suspended between two trees to
keep the bears or other animals from getting into them. It made Eric a
little nervous to think of bears, but he didn't want to look like a sissy
in front of his new friend, so he said nothing.

The men suggested that it might be a good idea to go to sleep soon in order
to be awake in the morning in time for an early start. That way, they
stood a better chance of finding a choice camping spot before other people
claimed it.

They all brushed their teeth and emptied their bladders before crawling
inside the tents for the night. In addition, Ben made the trek back to the
latrine carrying a roll of toilet paper.

Josh had to retrieve his pillowcase full of personal stuff from the pack he
shared with his dad and Scott had to get his things from the pack he shared
with Eric. The transfer took mere minutes and soon all were settled in
their respective sleeping quarters.

The two tents were located fairly close together because of the lack of
suitable flat places to pitch them. The occupants of both were
communicating in whispers.

Eric had been harboring a secret hope that Josh would steer their
conversation back to sex again, but it didn't seem to be happening. Josh
yawned in a kind of exaggerated manner and turned on his side away from
Eric. It appeared that he was rapidly falling asleep, so Eric lay there
patiently on his back hoping to be able to do a bit of late night stroking
without being caught. He was too horny not to do this, but the nylon
surface of the sleeping bag might present a noise problem when his fist
rubbed against it.

He slipped his boxer briefs down his legs and began to fondle his favorite
appendage. It sprang to life in his hand sending the usual tingle outward
toward his navel and all the way to his toes. He was doing his best to
stroke without making noise. He was getting his rhythm going, but thought
he'd better stop a minute because the rustling sound was becoming too loud.
When he quit, however, the sound kept going. It was then that he realized
he was not the only one trying to get off, so he didn't bother to keep as
quiet.

A few minutes later, he heard Josh emit a soft gasp. That subtle sound of
relief put him over the edge. He was happy that he had prepared ahead by
putting several tissues in his sleeping bag. It was going to take at least
two to soak up the cum.

Josh seemed to be squirming around in his bag. Eric got brave and spoke.

"Here's a Kleenex if you need it -- uh to blow your nose or anything."

Josh giggled.

"Thanks. I guess we both needed to blow our noses or something."

Eric giggled too. It was really cool to know that his new friend had
indulged in the same activity. It was even better knowing that they could
joke about it.

--------

In their tent, the older guys were doing their best not to make any noise
either. They had opted to lie on top of their sleeping bags from the
beginning. Scott had reached over to draw Ben to his chest. They had
kissed gently and then more intensely.

"God, I've missed you," Ben exclaimed. "I can't believe how great this
feels. I wish we'd gone this route in the first place."

"Yeah, except that we wouldn't have those two great kids."

"True. I hope they still love us when they find out. But we can't lose
each other again; we have to work out something."

Their conversation ceased as they went into a session of deep kissing that
left them both gasping for oxygen.

Scott turned his body the opposite direction to get closer to Ben's groin.
He nuzzled the bulge that he found there.

"Mmm," Ben responded as quietly as he could. "Please don't leave me in
agony."

"I have no intention of doing that!"

Moments later, the men were nursing each other's cock gently but steadily.
Their passion was so great that they were both unloading in record time.
Having their mouths stuffed helped to keep down the noise. Fortunately,
their orgasms happened at almost the exact same time as their sons' so
neither group heard the other.

I'm still getting responses to Bentonville, Zeke, and Always and Forever.
Got a bunch of feedback about Angels and Dragons!
