Secret Rebel Romance

Ch 24: Winter Break pt 1

After months on consistent commitment between Adrian and I, our
relationship was at its prime. Adrian and I told each other everything and
the comfort level between us has indeed escalated. Nothing could go wrong
at this point.

Tom and I continued to stay friends and he actually complied to my
guidelines. The sexual remarks were very brief and whenever we would
hangout, there would be less sexual tension in the room. I appreciate Tom
making the effort to form a healthy friendship between us. It showed that
he was sincere and genuine.

Adrian also took notice to Tom being less flirty with me and actually
respecting and setting boundaries towards mine and Adrian's
relationship. Soon enough, Tom and Adrian became friends once again and
everything was back to normal in a blink of an eye.

In the back of my mind, this all seemed too good to be true. I never
pictured us three becoming a trio again. I had a gut feeling something is
going to go wrong sooner or later. Then again, I should just accept and
embrace what's happening right now, instead of over analyzing and being
apprehensive.

The holidays were approaching fast and before I knew it, everyone was
getting ready for Christmas. This time of the year was always cold and
hallow at home. Mom wasn't always financially stable to get me whatever I
asked for, so my expectation began to shorten. On the brighter side, Mike
always made it better to cope with. He was always there whenever I
needed. This year would be entirely different without Mike being there.

Usually it would start to snow in the beginning of December when I used to
live in Pennsylvania. It was nearly the end of December and still not a
single flake has hit the ground. Nevertheless, the air was so brutally cold
that it made it unbearable to step a foot outside. Things were definitely
cold. Both literally and figuratively.

Although everything seemed to be going well in my social, academic, and
personal life, the winter season always gave me an eerie feeling. I always
had terrible nightmares about death. Which always caused me to be worried
and extremely paranoid all the time.

I awoke several minutes late for school from yet another petrifying
nightmare. The only thing I can recall was screaming Adrian's name in agony
and that alone caused me to worry. I had no idea what these dreams
symbolized but they continue to haunt me. I started to believe I had a
problem and wanted to see a doctor or therapist.

I realized the bus would be coming any minute now and I didn't have time to
ponder on these silly nightmares. I quickly slipped into a pair of
sweatpants and a hoodie, then brushed my teeth and skipped breakfast.

By time I was walking to the bus stop, everyone was already packed on the
bus ready to go. Luckily, if our bus driver noticed one of us students was
missing, she would wait at least 5 minutes for us to show up. She was very
considerate.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. Thank you!" I said to the bus driver.

"No problem kiddo. You guys are like my own. Quickly, take a seat. We're
running a little late." The bus driver instructed.

I immediately took notice to Anika sitting at the back of the bus with an
empty seat next to her. I began to walk back there to take a seat next to
her. Anika had a concerned look on her face as if she was disturbed.

"You okay buddy? Don't look too well. Another nightmare?" Anika asked in
concern.

"Yeah, I'm starting to believe its a serious issue. It's been happening for
over 4 years now. Every winter season." I explained.

"That is strange. I don't know man." Anika said.

"I don't wanna tell my mom because I know she'd flip and make this a bigger
deal than it needs to be. I don't know. Hopefully they stop." I said.

The fact that I had friends that actually cared about me and took the time
to listen to whatever I had to say, made me extremely grateful, I couldn't
ask to be surrounded by any better people. The bus ride was short but
relaxing. The heat on the bus caused my eyes to grow heavy and I almost
found myself falling asleep on Anika's shoulders, before I realized we were
already at school and it was time to go.

My tardiness caused my bus to be the last to arrive. Everyone was already
inside, getting ready to start the day. It wasn't a big deal but it was a
little annoying.

I rushed to my locker so I can see Adrian and tell him about what I can
remember from my dream last night. Adrian wasn't standing there so I
assumed he had already gotten settled and was in his home room for
attendance. I would see Adrian in gym class so I didn't worry about it too
much.

After I put my belongings away and gathered my books for today, I proceeded
to my home room for attendance. I immediately apologized to my aggressive
home room teacher for my tardiness.

"No worries. We will be having an extended home room today. Due to the fact
that we have an assembly in the auditorium today. So you may either take a
seat or go get breakfast." My teacher said.

I felt relieved that I could actually get some food in my system. I quickly
sat my books on my desk and proceeded to the cafeteria. Before heading
there, I figured Id get Adrian to tag along. He was only a few classrooms
away from me.

Adrian was sat in the middle of the class, so he had a great view of the
hallway. If I just peeked my head in the class, he would for sure see me.

As I peeked in Adrian's class I could see how upset and uninterested he was
by the look on his face. I assumed it was because he hasn't seen me yet and
figured I missed school today. But then again, that was just me being self
centered.

I snapped my fingers so Adrian could see me and mistakenly caught half of
the class attention. I was embarrassed, but Adrian's mood seemed to
enlighten.

"May I be excused? I would like to go get breakfast." Adrian asked.

"Yeah sure." The teacher said. Adrian bounced out of his seat and proceeded
to me.

"Hey babe! Where were you earlier?" Adrian asked in concern.

"I woke up late and caused my whole bus to arrive late today." I explained.

"Oh okay. You alright?" Adrian asked.

"I'm alright. Had a weird dream last night." I said.

"Another nightmare? About what?" Adrian asked.

"Let's go get breakfast and I'll explain to you. I'm starving." I
suggested.

Adrian and I started to walk down the hallway to the cafeteria and
suddenly, Adrian takes a hold of my hand. This caught me by complete
surprise. Adrian has definitely showed progress in being comfortable with
our relationship. He started giving me hugs before leaving each other and
just spent majority of his time at school with me. I was happy and
impressed with Adrian.

After I explained to Adrian what I could remember in the dream, he couldn't
help but to feel a slight discomfort. We had no idea what this could mean
and that's what bothered us the most.

"I mean whatever. It's just a dream. What's weird is how you consistently
have these every year." Adrian said.

"Tell me about it." I said.

"Bacon egg and cheese bagel?" Adrian asked.

"Yeah sure that's fine. How much?" I asked.

"Don't worry about it babe. On me" Adrian said grinning.

Although Adrian insisting on paying for my food was a kind gesture, I would
hate when he'd do so, deep down inside. I get the whole love thing, but I'm
capable of paying for things myself. This was always a minor issues between
us, but we always brushed it off and laughed about it.

Adrian and I took a seat in the cafeteria and began discussing Christmas
presents. Due to my past experiences, I just wanted to be the giver this
year. Whenever I expected to get a present, I was always disappointed. So,
I figured I changed things up this year.

I joked around with Adrian telling him to not even bother getting me
anything. I claimed to have very high standards so I was always
disappointed. Adrian looked at me as if I had three heads and told me to
shut up. I should've known that wasn't gonna work. Adrian and I have been
together for almost 3 months and he pretty much knew everything about me.

"Will all classmates please attend to the auditorium for this mornings
assembly" said Ms. Lagunavich through the loud speaker.

Adrian and I was still in the cafeteria together, so we figured we'd just
go to the assembly together and proceed to gym class afterwards. The
assembly would take up our first two classes of the day and everyone would
start the day off on their third period. This made the day go by a lot
faster and easier.

Everyone flooded the auditorium and Adrian and I were the only ones left,
so we decided to just sit in the very last row. We were attached to the hip
and both of us didn't mind at all.

The assembly just wanted to cover how to stay safe during this winter
break. I was excited we had nearly two weeks off from school. But
Supposedly, there was a huge blizzard heading our way and we were
definitely getting hit by it. Ms. Lagunavich had volunteers from the fire
dept come in to show us how to take all necessary procedures. For two
hours, the schools faculty pretty much just lectured us on how to stay
safe. I lied on Adrian's shoulders but when I took a glance at him, I
noticed he was sound asleep. I couldn't help but to laugh.

The assembly was almost over and I quickly woke Adrian up from his nap. I
wanted to hurry and get ready for gym class, but Adrian was still half
asleep. After a couple of minutes Adrian was fully awake and ready to go. I
filled him in on everything that he missed while we walked to gym class and
he had a concerned look on his face.

"What's wrong?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I hope the blizzard doesn't interfere with Christmas or Loki's New Years
party" Adrian confessed.

"Oh Loki is having another party?" I asked.

"Yeah and obviously you're invited." Adrian said.

"Whatever" I laughed.

Adrian walked into gym class with me following behind. The tension between
Alex and Adrian has decreased a little. A cordiality level had to be set
somewhere. Alex started to have a sudden interest in me after the
confrontation between him and Adrian. Alex showed that he cared about me
and I appreciated it. Just because Adrian has an issue with this kid,
doesn't necessarily mean I have to have an issue with him as well. Adrian
obviously didn't approve of this, but he knew being selfish and jealous
would only cause more conflict, not only between him and Alex, but between
Adrian and I as well

"Still hanging out with that tool I see" Alex laughed.

"Yeahhhh. He's my best friend" I brushed Alex off.

"I guess that means we can't be best friends now" Alex said.

"What makes you say that?" I asked in concern.

"You can't have two best friends that don't like each other" Alex
explained.

"I made it work before. It's no big deal. Besides you and Adrian just need
to take time to get to know each other. He's really cool. I swear." I said.

"We'll see! So when are we partnering up again bro?" Alex asked grinning.

"Whenever you ask before Someone else does" I laughed.

I would always take notice of Alex hitting on me, but I never wanted to
jump to any conclusion. The day we partnered up in gym class was really hot
and I wouldn't mind doing that again with him. But everything was perfect
between Adrian and I and I'd be a fool to mess it up.

"Hahaha whatever. Hey, are you going to Loki's New Years party?" Alex
asked.

"Yeah I'll try to make it. If this storm doesn't cause a lot of damage." I
explained.

"Well, now I have a reason to try to make it. See ya around" Alex said
winking.

I proceeded to my gym locker and began getting changed for gym. I couldn't
help but to feel butterflies in my stomach when talking to Alex. He was one
of the hottest guys in my grade and I knew he wanted to have sex with me.
After snapping back to reality, I noticed Adrian starring at me with a very
disgusted look on his face and I knew the storm was coming.

"What the fuck was that about?" Adrian asked.

"Relax bro! He just asked if I was going to Loki's party!" I said.

"He's going? Fucking great. And to think I had nothing to worry about with
you." Adrian ranted.

Although Adrian was overreacting, he had every right to. The last time
Adrian and I attended a party where someone was attracted to me, I ended up
having sex with that person. I had to reassure Adrian that every thing was
going to be okay and to just trust me.

"Listen, I know I fucked up before, but I promise you nothing will happen
between me and that kid. We're just friends." I explained.

"Dude, I heard this all before. Once you get a little alcohol in your
system, none of this shit you're saying matters anymore." Adrian explained.

"Alright. I have nothing else to say to you. I'll just show and prove it to
you asshole" I said in aggression.

I completely understood where Adrian was coming from but he was a ticking
time bomb just waiting to explode and I couldn't take it anymore. The only
solution to calm him down was giving him his personal space.

"Loki we're partners today and Fabian you take Adrian. I'm not dealing with
his shit" I said.

"Uh okay" Loki and Fabian said in unison.

Loki and I walked out of the locker room and into the gym. I started to
explain to Loki how all of this happened and he thought the whole situation
was childish and we'd get over it by the end of the day. In the back of my
mind I knew that. But the way Adrian reacted sometimes caused me to believe
otherwise.

"Besides, I don't even remember inviting you" Loki said jokingly.

"Oh so I'm not invited?" I laughed.

"Only if you don't fuck anyone in my parents room this time. Unless it's
me" Loki said.

"Loki! You animal!" I gasped.

"I'm joking. I'm joking" Loki laughed.

Throughout gym class Loki and I just joked and laughed around. We would
make some sexual remarks to each other but I knew it was all fun and
games. Until I took notice to Loki's shorts tightening up. It almost looked
like I was turning him on. Then I thought I was just being self centered
again. His shorts could be rubbing him the wrong way, causing him to get a
boner. From the looks of it, Loki was packing heat in his pants. But I
ignored it and proceeded.

Gym class was almost over and everyone began getting changed. I notice
Adrian and Fabian walking towards us laughing. I was hoping Fabian calmed
Adrian down a little.

Suddenly, I get a slap on the ass by Adrian. I turn around to him grinning
like a fool.

"You still mad at me sexy?" Adrian said biting his lip.

"You're an idiot" I said brushing him off.

"C'mon babe. How'd you expect me to react? Listen, I'm sorry okay. I just
don't wanna go through something like that with you again." Adrian
explained.

I couldn't hold my smile in any longer. Adrian's jealousy was
annoying. However, very charming. He cared and I could never ask him to
stop.

"Just trust me. Okay?" I asked.

"You got it babe." Adrian said smiling and hugging me.

Being wrapped in Adrian's arms was one of the best feelings ever. The way
his biceps would clinch around me and tighten was just euphoric. Adrian and
I both wanted to kiss each other, but I knew that was a huge step for him
and didn't want to pressure him to do anything.

The bell rings for 4th period to begin and Adrian and I would be separated
until lunch time. Very bittersweet, but we needed a little space.

4th period we had a pop quiz that totally bummed out the class. I was all
prepped for it, since I tend to skip to the next chapter on every
assignment I get. Knocked the quiz out with no problem.

The bell rings for lunch period to begin, so I started to walk to my locker
to put my books away. I noticed Anika heading to the cafeteria and figured
I would walk with her. I'm sure Adrian wouldn't mind.

Anika and I proceeded to the lunch room to grab a bite to eat. I wasn't too
hungry, after having breakfast with Adrian this morning, I was still a
little stuffed. So, I just grabbed a bag of chips and juice. Anika and I
chit chatted about Christmas and planned a day to go shopping before the
storm hits.

"Oh yeah and Loki is having a New Years party! You better fucking come" I
persuaded Anika.

"Oh you know I'll be there! That's gonna be wild" Anika laughed.

"I see you took off without me, dick." Adrian surprised me.

"Sorry, I saw Anika and just walked with her." I explained.

"I was just kidding. I don't give a shit" Adrian laughed.

Adrian, Anika, and I discussed how many inches of snow we would be getting
and how it hopefully wouldn't interfere with Loki's party. Both Adrian and
Anika were expecting a lot of gifts from there parents and grew very
excited. Even though I get upset around this time, I was happy to
contribute to my friends happiness..

Lunch period was over and we were all half way through the day. Classes
always seemed to go by a lot fast after lunch and before I knew it. I was
already in my last class of the day. Suddenly, I get a text from Tom.

"Sup brudda? :)" Tom said.

"Not much. Can't wait to get out of here :/" I said.

"Tell me about it. I'll be outside waiting for you guys" Tom said.

"Alright cool." I said.

Final bell of the day rings and everyone is eager to get home and start
winter break. We all were hoping for a little snow, but not enough to
exclude any activities. I waited for Adrian at our locker, so we could head
off together.

After Adrian was all settled and ready to go, we met Tom in front of
school. Adrian sat in the passenger seat and I sat in the back seat.

"What's going on guys? How was school?" Tom asked.

"Dreadful" Adrian said.

"I second that notion" I said.

"Jesus. Did you guys hear about how much snow we're getting?" Tom asked.

"Yeah dude. Shits gonna blow... Unless we get snowed in together and just
drink" Adrian suggested.

"That doesn't sound like a bad idea at all!" Tom said.

"That's kinda why I said it dumbass" Adrian laughed.

"One problem, who's house could we stay at?" I added.

"Well since Loki is having a New Years party, let's just crash at his."
Adrian said.

"It's the 21st. The storm isn't coming until the 24th and Christmas isn't
till the 25th and I'm pretty sure you guys wanna be with your family and
New Years isn't till the 31st.. How the hell is that going to work?" I
asked.

"Let's meet up after opening gifts. I'm sure the snow will still be forming
and roads will be drivable. I'll pick you guys up and we'll head to
Loki's. Just bring clothes and stuff" Tom suggested.

"I'll see how my mom feels about that and let you guys know" I said.

Tom, Adrian, and I arrived at my house faster than I thought. I got out of
toms car and told him I would let him know what my mom says. These were
really exciting plans but there was no way my mom would give me that much
freedom. I would figure something out and pitch it sooner or later.
