This is the first story I've ever written, I wrote it over the
summer of last year and my writing skills have grown immensely. Although
this is my first story I've wrote, I have published other stories on here
and am currently working on one. Under the high school section, I have the
One or the Other, which is a current project; Hayden's Story; and GAvin's
Got Game. Under the college section, I have The After Party. The latter
three stories all contain sexual content.
If you enjoyed reading this story, you can email me at

you all!

Friday was finally upon us. I was thrilled and scared about
today. I was thrilled because it's mine and Avery's date night. I was
scared because Jay and Tommy are going out tonight too. I woke up early so
I could talk to Avery on the phone.

"So are you excited about tonight?" He asked me. He didn't even say
hi yet.

"Sure am. I've been dying for this day to come since last Friday
was so much fun."

He laughed. "I know right! Who would have ever thought that Leo of
all people would be at the skating rink. I think he shit himself when he
saw me and you holding hands."

"Now that you say that I think I smelt shit when we passed him."
Avery laughed. There was an awkward silence. "Hey I gotta go shower. I'll
see you at breakfast?"

"You know it! And think of me while you're in the shower, okay?" I
hung up without answering him. I didn't think of him when I showered. I
thought of Tommy or Noah and I didn't want to lie to Avery.

After my shower and a quick breakfast, I was soon on my way to
school. I was riding with Ginger because Amy says she is sick today. I
Think it's funny that she's sick but when I walked past her door I heard
her on the phone. I'm not sure who she was talking to but I heard her say
"I love you" to this mystery person. I hope she wasn't talking to DJ.

"So Shawn, what are you and Avery doing tonight?" Tommy asked. Tye
was asleep in the front seat today. He was up late playing video games. He
called me at three in the morning to announce his new high score.

"Not sure. I always let him decide since I suck at making them."

"Tell me about it." Tyler mumbled.

"Oh. Well Jay and I are going out to eat. I think we're going to
that new Italian restaurant down the road from the school."

"Sweet! I've never been there before. You're gonna have to tell me
all about it. The place not your date. Unless you want to."

"It's okay. I'll just talk to Tyler about my date since it would
make things between us more awkward."

"Can't you two shut up or make up or make out or whatever. I'm
tired of you two blabbing about your love for each other to me. Say it to
each other and leave me out of it. I'm not your therapist." Tyler said. I
could tell he was awake now but not fully.

"Be nice, Tye!" Ginger yelled. "Love is complicated. If they get
back together, they get back together. Let them work everything out on
their own."

"Thank you, Ginger." Tommy said. He smacked the back of Tye's head
because they were both on the passenger side. They were soon playfully
smacking each other and calling each other names. Ginger threatened to
throw them both out of the car if they didn't stop. Tyler decided to keep
going. Ginger stopped the car and made him get out. After he was out and
the door was shut, she drove off.

"Ginger! What do you think mom is going to say about that?"

"We're only a block away from the school, Tommy. And she'll be
pleased to know that I'm taking responsibility for you two hooligans and
Shawn."

We got to school and we each headed different ways. Ginger went to
go study. Tommy had to go to homeroom for something. While I went to the
cafeteria to find Jen and Avery.

When I entered the cafeteria, I saw both of them sitting at a table
with Layla and Blake. Hopefully this meant all my friends we're getting to
know each other. Jen waved at me to come over but I pointed to the line to
get food. She nodded her head and flipped me off. God I wish I had the guts
to do that in school.

When I got up in the line I saw Noah was a few people ahead of
me. I tried to get his attention but failed the first few times because he
was listening to his iPod. He finally turned and saw me after I threw a
quarter at him and it hit him in his head. He let a few people cut him
until he was in front of me. We talked about Ms. Murphy's new class pet, a
turtle that she found on the side of the road the other day, and some other
things. I convinced him to sit with me and the others for breakfast. He
denied the offer but I was persistent. I was soon introducing Noah to my
group after we sat down at our table.

"Hey, don't we have third period together?" Blake asked.

"Yeah. We do. I'm surprised you never noticed me since you've
caught Shawn staring at me." Avery looked at me. I couldn't tell if he was
pissed or sad.

"I only look over at you because you're looking at me." Avery
turned to glare at Noah.

"Well it's hard not to when you're that cute." Both Jen and Layla
"awed" at that. Blake made a barfing sound and lightened the mood.

"Hi, I'm Avery. Shawn's boyfriend. We've been together for four
months. And we're going on a date tonight." I can't believe Avery was
acting like this!

"It's nice to meet you, Avery. You definitely have yourself a
keeper."

Avery rolled his eyes. Jen elbowed him. "Thanks, I guess."

After that, we all had a nice chat, except for Avery because he was
silent and picking at his food. When the bell rang to release us from the
cafeteria, I ran into Tye. He looked pissed and tired. I gave him a hug and
asked him what took him so long. He told me that he had to wait for someone
to drive by who was going to school to pick him up. I laughed at his
laziness and headed onto homeroom with Noah at my side.

"Your friends are really nice." He said as we sat down. "But I
think Avery hates me."

"Don't worry. He hates a lot of people. Believe it or not he use to
hate me."

"But he seems so protective over you. How could someone go from
hating to loving?"

	"We don't `love' each other."

"You've been together for four months though. How could you not
even be able to say that you love each other yet?"

"I don't know, Noah." I said with all honesty. "I wish I knew. But
saying `I love you' just seems impossible. We've been dating for about
twice the time we were enemies but I still can't bring myself to say it."

	"Maybe you should end it."

"Why would I do that? We don't fight at all and I've hurt him
enough. I can't do that to him."

"You just proved half my point."

	"What?"

"You don't want to hurt him anymore so you'll keep dating him just
to make him happy."

	"Whatever."

	"Don't whatever me!"

	"Can if I want to."

After school I met up with Jen and Layla. They have seem to become
close girl friends since the beginning of the new semester. Tommy had to go
home because he wanted to get ready and look perfect for his date, Tye and
Blake have basketball practice, Noah has a family reunion tonight, and
Avery is getting our date ready.

The three of us went to the mall to look around. Layla was
determined to find Jen a guy. She knew about the incident with Cole but she
wanted Jen to have a boyfriend the minute she was ready to date again so
she could go on a double date with another straight couple because us guys
are boring.

We bumped into Drew, he use to date Jen, and Layla gave Drew Jen's
number. Jen stood there petrified and blushing because he was the one that
ended it and she still liked him somewhat. He smiled, thanked Layla, and
left saying he would call her sometime soon. Once he was out of hearing
distance Layla and Jen did that high shrilling thing girls do when they get
excited.

Let me tell you a little bit about Drew. He is a football
player. His hazel eyes go great with his light brown hair and his furry
eyebrows. He's around 5'10 and has some pretty good muscles. But the best
part is that he's shy and smart. If he spoke up and didn't care about his
grades I would say he would run the school. But in all honesty he's a sweet
guy.

He was the second person, excluding my family, to find out I was
gay too. Him and Jen started dating about a month after Jen and I "broke
up". The three of us would hang out and he would think it was awkward that
she was this close to an ex. She accidentally let it slip. He sat there
quiet for a while. But then laughed and asked me if it was Jen's
fault. Thank god he was open minded and humorous. Jen never told me why
they broke up though. I think I was as sad as Jen to see Drew leave our
little circle of friends.
