Tales from Bentonville, Chapter 59

On Sunday, Abby went with the Albers to Father Jerry's church. Because she
was an active Episcopalian, she was quite at home with the liturgy. After
the service, they all went out for a meal along with Joel and his
grandparents.

Before Abby had to get ready to return to Madison, Allen and she drove out
to the place where they had kissed the night before. They spent several
minutes making out. When they came up for air, Allen was panting.

"Abby, I feel like we've known each other for a life-time. I love you!
Please tell me that you feel the same and that you will wait for me. Please
don't do this with other guys!"

"I do love you, and I promise that I won't mess around with anyone else,"
Abby sighed as she ran her hand down his chest. "I'm really happy that you
are comfortable with the `L' word. Lots of guys are afraid to commit their
hearts to someone. They only want the sex part."

Allen was feeling lust as well as love, but he knew better than to admit it
to her. If Abby had slid her hand under his waistband, he probably would
have cum right then and there. But she didn't tease him, other than to
caress his left nipple. That caused his cock to throb and deposit some more
drops of sticky precum in his underwear. It was likely that she was aware
of his lustful feelings.

They talked of the future as they sat back and cooled down. She had decided
to apply to Iowa State for admission next year, and he was going to apply
there and also at Madison. That way, they had some time to decide which
school they would attend. Either way, they were determined to be together.

A little later, she drove him back to his house for one more kiss before
heading back to school. Allen really hated to see her go.

"Boy have you got it bad!" Alex snickered when his brother came floating
into the house.

Allen simply stood there grinning like an idiot. He knew he had it bad and
there was no denying it. After receiving a little more teasing from Alex
and Joel, he went to his room to "do homework." His main object of study
was anatomy -- principally, his aching cock. He whipped it out and stroked
himself quickly to another messy climax.

--------------------------------

At school on Monday, a major topic of conversation was a letter that had
been sent to the board of education with a copy forwarded to Mr. Haggerty,
the Principal. The gossip mill had begun churning out tidbits after one of
the secretaries told her daughter about the letter and the girl told it in
confidence to her best friend. From there, it took about 30 minutes to
spread through the entire student body.

The substance of the letter consisted of a tirade against the school's new
gay/straight alliance. It seemed that one of the mothers thought that this
was leading to all kinds of evil -- including the promotion of homosexual
activities as exemplified by males dancing with each other at homecoming.
The mother demanded that the organization be disbanded and that the
principal be fired.

No one was sure who had sent the letter, but there were speculations.
Dustin had a sinking feeling that he knew the source. His mother had been
on a crusade lately. It was getting more and more difficult to be in her
presence. She had recently joined a very fundamentalist church that had a
new minister who seemed to be styling himself after Fred Phelps in Topeka,
Kansas. The new man even recommended that members of the congregation go
to: www.godhatesamerica.com/ to read Phelps' messages about homosexuals and
how tolerating fags was the cause that American soldiers were dying in Iraq.

Later, Dustin's suspicions were confirmed when his mother called him on his
cell to tell him to come home immediately. She didn't want him staying for
cross-country because she didn't want him hanging around with those nasty
boys who pretended to be his friends, but were leading him to Hell. She
said that she was going to make sure that he was "healed" and then she was
going to sue the board and the principal for helping to make him stay queer.

Dustin quickly called his father at work to get permission to go to practice
and to stay with Dave for the night. Gary promised to get to the bottom of
the matter as soon as he got home.

"I'm not going to abandon you, son. I'm thinking that you may have to move
out for your own sake. I love you and I want you to be happy. We will work
out something!"

Dustin went to practice, but it was difficult to focus. His mind was in
turmoil wondering how things would come out. But, running did help to relax
his body. He would probably sleep well that night despite his concerns.

--------------------------------

When Gary Fagan got home after work, his wife, Mary, was in an agitated
state.

"Dustin isn't home and I told him to come home immediately after school. I
want you to find him and bring him here. Pastor Thomas was here to pray
with him to help him see the light. He had to leave, but he will come back
as soon as I phone him."

"Dustin called me, and I gave him permission to go to practice and told him
to stay with Dave tonight. We have to get this straightened out before he
lives under this roof another day," Gary said.

"How dare you allow him to do that after I told him to come home?" Mary
demanded.

"Well, woman, do you believe all the shit your new minister is filling you
with? Do you believe that all gays are going to Hell and that soldiers are
dying because God is punishing us?"

"That's what Reverend Phelps says. And Pastor Thomas says that he is a true
man of God. He's studied the Bible, so he knows about the wrath of God!"

"Do you also believe that men are the head of their houses? If you buy part
of that, you're stuck with any decision that I make! I'm the head of this
house and what I say goes."

Gary's wife was quiet for the moment. She was not used to having her
husband take this tack. He had always treated her like an equal. What was
he trying to pull? Of course, Pastor Thomas said that women must submit to
their husbands, but that was mostly figuratively speaking, wasn't it? That
was something that was a part of the culture of the time when the Bible was
written. Certainly it didn't apply like that today!

Gary was on a roll and not ready to stop.

"I suppose that you also believe in a literal Adam and Eve."

"Well, yes, the Bible says that God began the human race that way." Mary
responded.

"If God made Eve from Adam's ribs how do you account for the fact that men
and women have the same number of ribs? And if all of us are descended from
those two people, then our ancestors were guilty of incest and God must have
approved it. Does the Bible condone incest? And I happen to know that you
break the law of the Old Testament frequently by eating pork and shellfish.
That's in the same book that says that men shouldn't `lie together.' So,
don't give me this shit that our son is going to Hell for being gay -- he's
just as God made him!"

Mary wanted to scream and yell back at her husband, but his arguments were
difficult to refute. If she insisted that everyone came from Adam and Eve,
how could she say it was against God's will to commit incest? How could she
say that parts of the Bible must be followed and others were optional? Why
did Gary have to be so damned logical? Well, Pastor Thomas was a minister,
so he must be right. He would know how to counteract Gary's reasoning.
Didn't it say somewhere in the Bible that the Devil could quote scripture?
Maybe it was the Devil speaking through her husband. She covered her ears
and hummed a hymn to block out Gary's words.

After Gary cooled down, he called Geoff Harrison, Dave's dad, to make sure
that it was okay for Dustin to stay over. He insisted on sending some money
to help pay for the groceries that his hungry offspring seemed to be able to
inhale.

The two men discussed the boys' plight -- especially Dustin's. They also
talked about the cost of gasoline and the time the boys spent commuting to
Bentonville.

"I've been mulling this entire subject over for awhile lately," Geoff said.
"What do you think about trying to find a place for the boys to room in
Bentonville during the week? It would save a lot of miles on the vehicles
and probably keep them safer. Once cold weather sets in, there will be the
chance of ice and snow. I don't like them separated from their parents, but
it might be better in the long run."

Gary snorted.

"In Dustin's case, it would be better if he were separated from this house.
I love him and I want to see him happy. I never thought I would come to the
point in life where I would be encouraging him to live with another guy, but
I have. Your son is the best thing that he has going for him. Dave's
really a great kid!"

Geoff was wiping his eyes on the other end of the phone line. It seemed
like a miracle that the man who had forbade his son to ever speak to Dave
again was now encouraging the relationship.

After Gary got off the phone, he called DJ's house. Ellen answered, telling
him that DJ had just come in the door.

"Yeah, Gary, what's up?" DJ inquired as he took the receiver.

"DJ, do you know of anyone who might be willing to take a couple of high
school kids as boarders this school year? It's time that I got Dustin away
from his mother."

"Whoa, it's that bad?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, I'll ask around. I guarantee you that I will come up with something.
I'm sure that Dane and Colton will have some input into this as well.
They love those guys like brothers."

"Thanks DJ. You're a lifesaver. I owe you already for setting my head
straight. I won't forget this."

"No problem."

After he hung up, DJ took Ellen in his arms.

"What do you think about having a couple more sons?"

"Are you getting amorous? Should I check the oven and head for the
bedroom?"

"Sorry, Honey, I was thinking about taking in a couple of roomers."

"I overheard enough to suspect that," Ellen snickered. "But I like the
first idea pretty well too."

DJ looked at the clock and noted that Greta and the boys weren't due for
another 45 minutes. He wiggled his eyebrows and licked his lips. Ellen
closed the oven door and nibbled on his neck. They headed to the bedroom
quietly, hoping not to awaken the twins from their afternoon nap.

--------------------------------

At dinner that evening, Dane began the conversation about Dustin's situation
before DJ had a chance to bring it up.

"Dad, we've been talking to Grandma and wondered what you would think of our
plan. She's fine with it. We would like to invite Dustin and Dave to live
in the guest room during the school week. I'm sure they will help pay the
bills. Dustin just has to get away from his mother. Colt and I will get
some part-time work if that's what it would take to make it happen."

When DJ and Ellen broke into laughter, the boys wondered what in the world
they were thinking. DJ quickly explained about Gary's call and the fact
that Ellen and he were discussing opening their house to Dave and Dustin.

Greta assured her son that she could handle the extra company more easily
because she didn't have any babies at her house. She would enjoy having
them. It made her feel useful to have kids to look after. She told her
grandsons that money wasn't a problem, but that she would let Dave and
Dustin chip in on groceries because she knew Gary well enough to be sure
that he wouldn't want to accept "charity."

"You boys have enough on your plates with school and activities. That IS
your job for the time being. I want you to get good grades and to enjoy
high school without the extra stress of working. It will be a joy to have
your friends living with us too."

As the dishes were being cleared after dinner, DJ called Gary to tell him of
their solution. Gary nearly cried.

"I really owe you big-time now, Johnson. How am I ever going to get even?
I WILL be paying for Dustin's keep. You can tell Greta that. Better yet,
let me talk to her myself."

While his grandmother conversed with Gary, Dane got out his cell phone to
call Dave about the plans. Dave put his head close to Dustin's so that they
could both hear and talk to the guys on the other end who were sharing
Dane's cell in the same manner.

"That's great," Dustin cheered. "But won't it be a little tight about
getting ready in the morning with four guys using one bathroom?"

"Not as long as we shower in pairs," Dane giggled. "Besides, Colt and I can
go downstairs to use that one. Grandma has her own bath attached to her
bedroom."

The four boys discussed the adjustment problems that they could foresee in
living together and didn't see many. They decided that it would be a blast
since they were very compatible already. There would have to be some rules
about household chores, etc. They would sit down to talk those over
tomorrow after school at Greta's house. She was already planning a welcome
dinner in honor of her new tenants.

--------------------------------

At school the following morning, Dustin looked happier than anyone had seen
him since his reunion with Dave at the cottage. The first thing he did was
to grab Dane in a large hug and swing him around. Then he did the same to
Colton. Some of the students passing in the hall wondered what was going
on. Most laughed because they were used to seeing the guys horse around
like that.

Dustin was so elated that day that he found it difficult to concentrate on
his work. Eventually, he settled down. By second period, he was back in the
groove.

At lunch, conversation centered on the dreaded ITED's (Iowa Test of
Educational Development) that would begin the next week. Some of the kids
would blow them off, making patterns of the ovals on the score sheets. The
students at the boys' table were more serious than that.

"I think they're kind of fun in a way," Sara ventured. "I especially like
the vocabulary part. I love to see if I can nail all of them."

Others had their favorite sections. Joel really "ate up" the math
questions. The twins liked the science part best. Most of the seniors
thought that this year's tests would feel like child's play after taking the
college entrance exams.

Eventually, discussion turned to the gay/straight alliance. Everyone hoped
that the disgruntled parent (as yet unidentified publicly) would not put the
club in jeopardy. Dane said that he had talked to Mr. Haggerty that morning
and had been assured the organization would survive.

--------------------------------

Four tired boys headed to Greta's house in two vehicles after cross-country
and band practices. The aroma of home-cooked food perked them up the moment
they came in the kitchen door. Greta had outdone herself. She had a medium
rare beef roast ready to carve. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes and
gravy with a big salad and steamed veggies.

Before they ate, Greta asked a blessing on the food and thanked God for
sending her two more boys to be like sons. The boys were all blinking a bit
when they raised their heads because they didn't want to get overly
emotional. After all, they were guys.

Beef is an Iowa staple for a hearty meal. Meat with a hint of bloodiness is
exactly the kind of food that many young athletes crave to assuage their
hunger after a good workout. All four did justice to the meal.

After dinner, Greta was delighted to see that her newest "sons" were quick
to pitch in to help clear the table and put food away. As she had
suspected, these weren't going to be difficult guys to live with.

"Now, don't expect this kind of meal every night," she warned. "There will
be times when you kids will be making dinner and times when I will feed you
take-out."

"Don't worry about that," Dustin insisted. "I would be willing to eat dog
food to live in this loving home."

"Hmm," Greta mused. "I think there is a sale on Alpo or was that Little
Friskies?"

The boys giggled at Greta's sense of humor. Dave and Dustin were certain
that they were going to enjoy being a part of this household.

As Greta went into the family room to catch her favorite TV show, the boys
retreated to the upstairs to do their homework. It was nice having a couple
more study partners who were serious about their work. Since they shared
some classes, they could at least discuss the questions before they wrote
down the answers in their own words.

Around 9:30, the aroma of popcorn came wafting up to the second floor. It
was followed by Greta's call for the boys to come get some. They sat around
the kitchen table enjoying their snack. Greta sat with them for awhile.
Their laughter and love of life warmed her heart. She truly loved kids.
That was why she had remained in education for so many years.

Before the boys retired for the night, they all sat on Colt and Dane's bed
to talk about house rules. Dustin again thanked them for their willingness
to help him out.

"I'll never forget this. You don't know how bad it was living at home."

Colt got a far away look in his eyes as he responded.

"Yeah, I think I can relate."

--------------------------------

Dustin had thought that the after school running would have worn him out for
the night, but once he was cuddled next to his lover, Dave, he found that he
had recovered his strength. He ran his tongue on the lobe of Dave's right
ear. Dave moaned and wiggled his butt against the hardening muscle that was
nestled there. That caused Dustin's love muscle to reach a steely
consistency. He used it to make slight thrusting motions.

Dave turned over in a flash forcing Dustin on his back and lying on top of
him. Dave began his own thrusting after adjusting their cocks to lie side
by side. With their tongues battling for dominance in each other's mouths,
the boys moaned and thrust until their vocal emanations turned into
expectant whimpers.

Dustin slipped a middle finger into the cleavage of Dave's butt. He worked
it toward Dave's most private place. That gesture sent Dave to nirvana a
split second before his lover. Moments later, Dave nearly fell off of
Dustin because of the slipperiness of the loads they had deposited between
them. They giggled at their predicament as Dustin tried to grab a discarded
T-shirt from the floor to mop up the mess.

Across the hall, Colt and Dane giggled because of the amorous sounds coming
from the guest room. They had planned to go directly to sleep that night,
but found that it was too hard. In fact a couple of things were HARD!
After a brief amount of foreplay, Colton turned around to the sixty-nine
position and the boys went for the main event.

The rutting noises from the other bedroom were quite stimulating. It didn't
take long to produce a couple of gushers. Of course, they didn't have to
search for something to clean them up. As usual, they didn't waste the
protein.

--------------------------------

Colt had set the alarm a few minutes earlier than usual so that he and Dane
could get in and out of the bathroom quickly enough to give the other two
some privacy. His plan went okay at first, until Dave had to come in to
pee. He had become so comfortable about letting others see him naked, that
he just walked in bare-assed and took a leak as the Johnson boys were
brushing their teeth. Colt giggled.

"I guess after all the naked time we have spent at the lake there's no
reason to worry about giving anyone any privacy."

"Hey, it works for me," Dave snickered as he shook off the last drops.

"It sounded like something else worked for you two last night," Dane
snickered.

"Yeah, well, we weren't the only ones," Dave shot back with a grin.

Dustin ambled in about that time sporting his morning wood with no
embarrassment either. Dane swatted him on the butt as he passed. There was
more comment about the night's activities -- all in good fun, of course. It
was obvious to all concerned that this was going to be a great school year.

The boys got dressed for school and began to make breakfast. Colt got the
coffee pot going knowing that Greta would want a cup the moment she hit the
kitchen.

They had bacon cooking in the microwave and were scrambling eggs when Greta
came in looking bleary-eyed.

"I got involved in a good mystery novel last night and couldn't put it down.
I'm sorry I overslept!" she apologized.

"That's okay, Grandma," Dane smiled. "Just don't expect a big breakfast
every morning. Sometimes you may have to settle for Kibbles and Bits with
cold milk poured over them.

"Touché!" she laughed. "I had that one coming. By the way, will you be
home about the same time tonight? I'm thinking of roasting a couple of
chickens. And, I think we'll have fish on Friday. Will you all be here, or
will you two go to your house?" she asked turning to Dave.

"Um, we have a meet on Saturday, so I think we will go to my house after
that and come back here on Sunday after dinner. Please don't worry about
cooking for us all of the time."

"Son, there is never any worry involved about cooking for my four
grandsons."

Dustin swallowed the lump in his throat, along with a bite of scrambled egg.
  This lady was awesome!

Author's note: I received an e-mail for RC on Saturday. Below is a part of
what he wrote. He and I had both been thinking of Matthew Shepard on the
recent anniversary of his beating and death.

"Now, in Brooklyn, a gay guy died yesterday. He was lured through an
internet chat-room to meet someone for a "date". The date had him drive to
a location where his buddies were waiting to beat him up. The guy ran into
parkway traffic to get away from them and got hit by a car (who also left
the scene). He died in the hospital when his parents took him off life
support. He was 29. The three arrested and charged with hate crimes were
16, 19, and 20 years old. The police are still looking for the car that
left the scene after hitting him, and maybe a fourth perp involved. Several
more lives ruined."

Be careful out there guys -- young and old. I don't want any of you hurt!!!

Here is a tidbit from some awesome quotes that Russell sent me:

War. Rape. Murder. Poverty. Equal rights for gays. Guess which
one the Southern Baptist Convention is protesting? ~The Value of Families

Thanks to those who wrote to me recently -- Carroll, Bill K, "gman", Paul W,
Jim W, Russell, Randy, Jim C, Mike K, RC, Scotty, Tim S, Chuck, Brian, John,
Mark and Andrew, and Rad. Of course, I heard from my editors Tim, Tom, and
David. Some of you guys wrote several times. I really love hearing from
you! No Joe this week, but he is very busy with college as is Rad. Wish
them both luck in their chosen studies.
