               The Tyler I knew. - Chapter 1

Andy walked away from school an hour early, he was
leaving because of the taunts and "cracks" the other kids
made. He didn't want to deal with it anymore. He shouldn't
have to. Andy was a very smart boy. Always got the high
grades. And always aced the tests he was challenged to.
Always really good at brushing off what the other kids said
about him in school and never really let it get to him. But
today was the final draw.

After 8th period had ended he went to his locker to
exchange his books like he did every day. As he walked up to
his locker he noticed a banner had been put across it
reading "FAGGOT" in large black letters. He looked around at
all the people watching, laughing. He pulls banner down and
opens his locker. The inside had been covered with some sort
of liquid. He stood there only for a second before he
realized what it was. Lube, it was put into his locker thru
the holes to drench everything. Standing there and feeling
the rage overcome him. He slams the locker shut and storms
off for the school office. He'd had enough. The kids in this
school were so narrow minded, so childish, and worse of all,
extremely mean in his opinion.

"My goodness Andy, do really need to storm in here like
that?" the principal asks.

"Yes!" He replied in an exhausted and angry voice.

"I am tired of the narrow minded assholes in this school!
There isn't anything ever done about them. I honestly think
you all agree with them! Is that it, do you agree with them?
Do you think I shouldn't be here just because." Andy
paused, realizing what he was about to reveal. He knew deep
down they knew. This was it, "who cares?" he thought. Who
cares? It's what I am! "It's because I am GAY isn't it?"

The principal looked over him for a moment, then smiled with
his sarcastic smile that Andy got every time he brought a
problem to the office.

"Well, Andy. I can't see these kids hating you for that!
Yeah, I agree they like to play jokes at times, but I can't
see them actually being serious about things!" The principal
spoke in a sarcastic tone.

Andy stared at him for a moment. Not knowing what to do, or
what to say. He had definitely had enough. He couldn't bear
it anymore. He didn't need to.

"Fine then! Fuck your school." He said turning around and
leaving. Not returning to his locker, but heading right out
the front door and into the student parking lot.

On his way home thoughts running thru his head. He
didn't know where to go. He didn't want to go home and
explain all this to him mom. She was a wonderful person,
always understanding and always stood up for him. It was her
who helped him thru his toughest times when he came out. Her
who backed him up in what he wanted. She was the only one he
could talk to about it. As he drove out thru the country
road's his anger growing more and more. He just couldn't see
how people can be so mean. After nearly an hour's drive out
thru the country roads he turned and pointed in the
direction of town. When he arrived at the edge of town he
decided to grab something to eat and think up how he was
going to explain all this to his mom.

He pulled into McDonalds parked his car and walked
inside. At the counter he orders his favorite meal and sat
down near the window. Halfway thru his meal, he left his
thoughts to notice a boy who had sat at the table across
from his. When Andy looked up the boy looked away rather
quickly. Andy looked him over. He was rather cute. Brown
hair, rather skinny, and not all that built. As Andy was
checking him out, the boy looked up.

"Hey" Andy said blushing a bit, not sure what else to add.

"Hi" the boy replied.

"Just getting to work?" Andy asked him noticing he had a
McDonalds outfit on.

"On break." the boy replied looking down.

"Shy?" Andy asked him laughing.

The boy laughed slightly and returned to his food. Getting
the idea that he either didn't want to talk, or he was
extremely shy he spoke up

"Well, I was just wondering. You can't be more than 16, I
figured you would be in school."

"No, I am home schooled."

"I see" Andy spoke, then continued eating little more, not
knowing what else to talk about. He really wanted to talk to
him more, but didn't know what else to say. He didn't want
to make the boy feel uncomfortable.

After finishing his food rather quickly the boy stood
up and started to leave.

"Hey, hang on a second. What's your name?"

"Tyler"

"Tyler what?" Andy pushed on.

Tyler stood there for a moment, almost ready to ask why he
wanted all this information. Really he didn't mind giving it
to him. the boy was cute. He wanted to get to know him, but
needed to get back to work.

"Last name's Hammond" Tyler shot out.

Glad he'd gotten this much out of him, still wondering if it
is possible this boy could be interested in the same as him.
Andy didn't care, he was going to find out one way or
another.

"Well, Tyler Hammond, what are you doing later?"

"Why, what do you mean?" Tyler responds almost instantly.

"I want to know what you are doing later this evening, or
what time you get off."

"I get off at 5, it's only 2 hours."

"I know how to tell time ya know! But, what do you say you
and I hang out later?"

Tyler stared at him, not knowing what to say. He was worried
this was going to turn out like the other kids at the school
he previously attended. Always playing jokes on him, making
him feel as if he were worthless. They called him gay, and
fag all the time. He didn't think he was, but sometimes he'd
wondered or had that urge to see a guy naked. Seeing Tyler
process this for so long, or at least to long for him, Andy
spoke up again.

"Tell you what! How about we at least go to the bowling
alley and play pool or something?"

"Ok, I guess." Tyler gave-in, figuring giving this a shot
wouldn't be so bad. "Do you have a way there or do you need
a ride?"

"I don't drive Tyler said.

"Well, do you want me to pick you up then?"

"Yeah, that will be fine, be here at 5:15. That will give me
time to change"

Andy's excitement leaped. He was going on a date. Well, if
that's what you wanted to call it. He wasn't sure what it
was, all he knew was he was going to get to take this really
cute kid out and couldn't wait.

"Alright, I'll be here right on time then. I drive the
maroon focus out there" Andy pointed his car out in the
parking lot.

"Ok, see you then." Tyler said as he shuffled off towards
the back.

Tyler couldn't wait until it was time. He was really
excited to be hanging out with someone fore the evening. He
didn't get to do this much and to his surprise someone was
taking interest in him. Someone wanted to be his friend. Or,
was all that he wanted. He wasn't sure. His emotions going
crazy as he worked. Thinking of that may happened tonight.
Is it going to turn sour? It this a friend of someone's from
his old school or neighborhood playing a joke on him? He
hoped not. He noticed the kid was rather cute and found
himself thinking about him constantly over the remaining
time at work. Why was he doing that? As he had said to
himself on numerous occasions. He's not gay, he can't be.
Maybe he's just looking for a friend. That's all Tyler
needed. Just a real friend, and who knows. he may find that
in Andy. He just couldn't wait until 5:15 that evening.

"Mom, are you home?" Andy yelled as he walked through the
front door 20 minuets later.

"Yes, I'm here." His mother said as she walked out of the
kitchen. "Where have you been? I've been worried about you!
What happened at school? Are you alright?"

"Goodness mom, calm down. I'm fine. Well, better than I was
two hours ago anyway! I just met someone. His name is Tyler.
He's so." Tyler paused. His mother beginning to grin,
waiting for him to tell her more. But he couldn't. He knows
he can talk to his mother about his feelings. Anything he
needed to. And he has. It's just difficult to say how "cute"
or how "hot" a guy is. He's just not broke that barrier down
yet. "Well, anyway mom. I'm fine. I had a bit of a problem
at school today though."

"Yeah, I know! The principal called me. He said you were
suspended for the remainder of the week." "SUSPENDED?"

Andy lashed out. How can I be suspended? I wasn't part of
the immature SHIT HEAD'S that started all this!"

Andy went on to tell his mother about the event's of
the day. He told her everything, including the part at
McDonalds, leaving out a few of the "finer" details. You
know, the obvious ones... How cute he was, how much Andy
wanted him. Yeah, those details... He and his mother
discussed it for a while. They were going to do something
about the principal, they just didn't know what. Before he
knew it, it was 4:30. He had only a half hour to get ready
then drive to pick up Tyler. He couldn't wait. Tyler just
seemed so. perfect.

Showered, and all clean Andy heads for McDonalds. It's
only about a 10 minuet drive, and it was already 5:00. He
couldn't wait. He made it with only 7 minuets to go. When he
pulled into the parking lot Tyler was waiting outside. As he
drove up the feeling he'd been having in his stomach all
evening seemed to switch to high gear. His stomach had
started to do flips in every which way. Tyler got into the
car quietly. Still not knowing what he was getting into,
nervous because he'd never just went out like this with
someone he didn't know. The only time's he'd gone out was
with his friends. Although it wasn't like he had a whole lot
of them.

"Hey there" Andy said smiling."

"Hey" Tyler replied.

"So, do you really want to go to the bowling alley, or have
anything else in mind? Asked Andy.

"Doesn't really matter to me." Tyler said uncertainly.

"You know, you really can lighten up! I'm not out to get you
in any bad way!" Andy explained. "I promise!"

"Alright" Tyler smiled. "Why don't we just go see a movie,
then we can go off and do whatever after that?"

"That sounds good!" Andy said....

The two boys discussed what movie to see, then headed for
the theatre.
Walking into the theatre, the two decided to pay for
themselves, although each had insisted on paying for the
other. Andy bought some popcorn and pop for the two and they
headed into the dark room.

"Let's sit back here if you don't mind." Tyler spoke up as
they walked by the last row of seats."

Andy didn't object, he let Tyler get his seat first, then
set down on his left.

About twenty minuets into the movie Tyler had his arm on the
arm wrest to his left, Andy had tried to place his arm on
the same one, but found he had laid his hand right on
Tyler's hand. It was Andy's instant reaction to grab his
hand to hold it before he realized what he'd done. After
letting go Tyler dropped his arm back onto his lap.

"I can't believe he grabbed my hand" Tyler thought. "Maybe
he is gay!" He couldn't believe it. What he wanted to be
true so bad since he'd met Andy for the first time today.
Yeah, he didn't admit it to himself all that well that he
was, but for some reason this made Tyler happy. Having Andy
grab his hand like that started something more in his brain.
He liked it! It only lasted for a moment, but he liked it!

"I'm sorry!" Tyler whispered to Andy slightly blushing.

"It's ok, really! I don't mind" Andy said, unsure where this
would lead.

The movie had ended an hour later, they walked outside
without saying anything. Andy didn't know if this had upset
Tyler, and Tyler didn't know what to think. He really didn't
mind. In fact, he wanted it to happen again!

"So, it's late. Where are we off to now?" Andy asked.

Tyler stood there for a moment, looking up into the sky,
still thinking of what happened inside, he didn't know what
to do. He was scared. He was pretty sure he knew what Andy
was doing, but didn't want to respond wrong and look like an
idiot.

"You like the stars? Or is you neck sore?" Andy spoke.

"Huh, oh. No it's fine. I was just looking at the stars,
stupid huh?"

"No it isn't! I look at them all the time. I have a
telescope though!" Andy said smiling. This was it! This was
how to get to Tyler. He was looking for something they had
in common, and this was something! This was a BIG something!
He knew a lot about the stars.

"You do?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah, it's in my trunk actually. I was out at my uncles
last night checking them out. This is one of the best times
of the year to go looking. It's always more clear." Andy had
just gotten an idea! "Hey! I know! Let's go to my uncles
field and set up the telescope, it's really clear tonight.
Maybe we can teach each other a few things about the stars!"

"I don't know anything about them really, I just like
looking at them!" Tyler said rather embarrassed.

"That's alright! I can teach you!" Andy said, probably a bit
overly excited.

"Ok!" Tyler agreed, and they were off.

Twenty five minuets later, after stopping at the store and
getting some snacks and drinks to last them the evening,
they arrive at Andy's spot. It was a nice right over, Andy
thought. Tyler told Andy what he knew about the stars and
constellations, which wasn't a whole lot. Andy knew this was
going to be an interesting evening. He couldn't wait!.

"This is an awesome spot!" Tyler said in awe, getting out of
the car. "You can see in almost every direction!"

"Yeah, it's a great spot. I come up here at least twice a
week. I love it. It's so peaceful!" Andy said as he was
setting up the telescope.

"Well, what about wild animals?" Tyler asked, looking a
little worried.

Andy giggled a moment. "I've been coming up here by myself
for years. Before I could drive, I would stay all night at
my uncles down the hill and ride the ATV up here and sit out
all night. I have even camped out here alone. It's not bad.
I think because it's a wide open field, and there are no
cow's, or any other type of livestock there really isn't a
reason for anything to come up here except deer. But, I
don't see those here at night." Andy paused. "Besides, you
are with me! What you so worried about?" Andy finished,
smiling.

Tyler grinned, and looked Andy right in the eye's for the
first time ever. "I'm not worried. I am sure you will
protect us."

Andy was beside himself. Not only did he just openly flirt
with him, he also winked at him. Or did he? "Wow" Andy
thought. "I just can't wait to hold him.

The night went on with Andy pointing out stars, a planet,
and the different constellations there were. It was nearing
11 o'clock when the finally broke away from the telescope.
Tyler walked over to the car, opened the back door and sat
down on the seat while digging out a can of pop and some
chips.

"Want any?" Tyler offered.

"Sure!" Andy said walking over to him.

Tyler handed Andy a pop and scooted over on the seat to
allow Andy some room.

"This sure has been fun. Probably the best night I have ever
had. Thank you!" Tyler said.

"You are quite welcome!"

Tyler spoke up again almost instantly. "Tell me, what is it
that you want from me?"

Andy tried to say something. He wasn't sure what. He knew
what he wanted. He wanted Tyler. He wanted him in his arms.

Again, Tyler spoke "Do you think I am gay?"

"Do `you' think you are gay?" Andy asked, turning around
the question.

"I.. I don't know." Tyler said, dropping his head.

This was it, Andy had to do something. He had to make a
move. Andy was sure that Tyler wanted this. At least he
hoped he did. Andy moved his hand to Tyler's chin, and
pulled his head up. He slowly moved his head for Tyler's.
They looked each other in the eyes, only for a moment, and
then it happened. They kissed. Tyler's emotions shot through
the roof of the car. He was in heaven. He was kissing this
beautiful boy, with his gorgeous eyes, wonderful smile, and
a wonderful personality. His lips were so soft he didn't
want to stop.

Andy was feeling the same way. He had never kissed a guy.
But now, he was locked in a wonderful kiss. Just a normal
kiss. He loved it.

The two separated after about ten seconds. They stared at
each other. They were both lost for words. Andy had noticed
tears welling in Tyler's eyes.

"Are those happy, or sad tears?" Andy asked in a soft voice.

Tyler looked at Andy a moment, then finally answered.
"Happy. Very happy."

Andy put his arm around Tyler, pulling him closer and they
sat there, holding each other until drifting off to sleep in
each others arms...
