Tommy and Tanner,
Chapter 27

As soon as he got home, Andy asked his parents if he could have a few boys
over to see the New Year in. When they heard that he wanted to invite
Tommy and Tanner, they readily agreed. They didn't know Devin, so they
said one of them would talk to one of his parents to make sure it was okay.
Andy felt as if they were treating him like a little kid, but didn't
complain because he knew they were attempting to look out for his best
interests.

"Hello, Charley Mosbeck?" Chris said into his phone.

"Yes."

"This is Chris Roberts. Are you the guy who played third-base on the
St. Lukes' softball team last summer?"

"That would be me; do I know you?"

"Oh, sorry, I should explain. I play on the policemen's team and you guys
beat us on Independence Day."

"That we did, but not by much. As I recall, you made a homerun that tied
up the game for several innings.

Uh, is this a social call, or are you collecting for the police widow's
fund?"

"Oh, no, this is about our sons. My Andy who just got acquainted with your
son, Devin, wants to invite him to sleep over on New Year's Eve along with
two kids whom I can vouch for as good boys. I wanted to make sure that it
was okay with you and to assure you these boys will not be drinking or
smoking anything. They're both swimmers at Coolidge and their dad's the
assistant football coach."

"Are those the Tark's boys - the ones who're teaching Devin self-defense?"

"Yup."

"That will be fine with Cathy and me. I met them briefly the day after Tim
Torrance's party. I know Tark pretty well and I'm sure his kids know how
to behave. I think two of them have a lot in common with my son; uh Tommy
and Tanner are in the same grade."

"My son has a lot in common with them too," Chris said, wondering if they
were thinking of the same thing. "Well, I'll let you go. Perhaps we'll
have a softball rematch with different results next summer."

"Don't count on it; we're pretty tough and we don't eat as many donuts as
your guys do," Charley joked.

----------

Tucker was looking forward to having Bobby over New Year's Eve. They'd
planned it for several days. Tim was going to be at Melody's house until
after midnight, Tommy and Tanner were going to Andy's overnight, and that
would have left Tucker home alone with the `rents for the evening. While
it might have been an opportunity to have a big bunch of boys for a party,
Tuck was content to have a quiet evening with his best friend.

Bobby was happy too, hoping that they could play video games late and sleep
late in the morning. He was also eager to see if he could get Tuck to jack
off with him again. It had been a while.

----------

Charley Mosbeck called Tark, offering to pick up Tommy and Tanner to drive
them to Andy's house. He wanted to talk to Tark for a minute and he wanted
to meet Chris as well. This would give him the opportunity to do both.

When he came to the Torrance's house, his son bounded up the stairs as if
he were home and that gave Charley the couple of minutes he wanted.

"Hey Tark, thanks for making Devin feel better after he came out at Tim's
party. We've been so worried for him since he told us last year."

"It was my pleasure," Tark smiled. "Andy Roberts and my middle two came
out to him the next day and they had a long talk. It was a fortunate
happening for all of them. Even though things have changed a lot since we
were kids, being gay in our society still isn't easy and they need friends
who know what they're feeling."

"He told me your boys were awesome, but he didn't tell me any of them were
gay."

"He's a good young man who knows not to betray a confidence," Tark
observed. "I'm only telling you about them because I have my sons'
permission and Devin said that you knew about him."

Their conversation was interrupted at that point by three teens thundering
back down the stairs.

The ride to Andy's house was filled with excited chatter. Charley was very
pleased to observe his son interacting with his peers so freely. It had
been a point of concern for both of his parents that he'd become a virtual
loner since the onset of puberty.

Chris invited Charley in when he delivered his human cargo. The boys
greeted Chris and then went off with Andy, leaving the two men to get
acquainted.

"I talked to Tark and to the boys on the way over. I believe you and I
were dancing around the subject of their orientation. I think we can all
agree that our kids have `a lot in common' and know what it is we're
talking about."

"Thanks for bringing it up Charley. I felt like we were saying the same
thing on the phone. I'm really happy that Andy has found at least a core
of guys, albeit a small group, that he can relate to. May I assume that
Devin had no problem coming out at home?"

"Cathy and I had a feeling that he might be gay, so when he did screw up
his courage, we were ready to let him know it was okay."

"Marla and I were much the same. I believe that all of us parents are
going to become close because of our sons."

"I agree!" Charley said. "We can all offer them support. That will give
them several adults they can confide in and rely on."

"Well, I need to go take the twins to be with their cousins. Cathy and I
are going to be home alone with a bottle of champagne and no young `uns to
mind," Charley grinned.

"Damn, you're lucky!" Chris said. "Instead of being home with Marla, I'm
on duty tonight helping keep the drunks from committing vehicular homicide.
Maybe I'll get lucky and the path of the predicted snowstorm will hit us
instead of Wisconsin."

----------

Lee and Peter were celebrating at Lee's condo. They had an open invitation
to be with Tark and Teri for the holidays, but wanted to be alone this
time. Their potential hosts understood and weren't offended by their polite
refusal.

For their private party, they had concocted a couple of healthy snacks and
purchased a container of fancy vegetable hummus (without garlic) from the
deli. These were paired with wheat crackers and a mellow white wine.
Neither guy was into champagne all that much and they weren't going to
overdo the alcohol anyway. Their evening would consist of nibbling,
sipping, cuddling, and whatever else might come up.

They spent several hours on the sofa in front of the TV, snuggling and
fondling naked under a satin king sized comforter. They watched some of
the celebrations from around the globe, but didn't concentrate on that as
much as on keeping each other pleasantly aroused.

"What did that Viagra commercial say about seeking help for an erection
lasting four hours?" Peter giggled as he gently caressed Lee's boys.

"It's only been a couple of hours, but you needn't seek any further! I'm
here to bring you relief."

"Relieve away!" Peter encouraged as Lee put his head under the comforter
and licked his way south-ward from Peter's nipples.

"Oh shit! I'm gonna cum!" Peter exclaimed about two minutes later.

Lee put a lip-lock on Peter's cock in time to prevent losing any fluid. He
swirled his tongue over Peter's sensitive glans as Peter erupted, sending
him further into the stratosphere.

"I didn't mean to cum so soon! You've had me on edge for the past two
hours at least. I think my whole system is completely drained."

"Glad you enjoyed it! I'm pretty close too."

"Sorry for neglecting you!" Peter said as he recovered enough to get on his
knees under the covers to lick his way up the insides of Lee's legs.

Lee too was moaning in short order. Peter knew how to push all his
buttons. He spent several minutes sucking his balls and licking the area
behind them. Toward the end, he used his tongue on the sensitive area
where head and shaft meet.  That put Lee over the edge.  He bucked forward;
nearly giving Peter a tonsillectomy and came like there was no tomorrow.

----------

At the Torrance residence, Tark and Teri sat in the family room with Tucker
and Bobby for a little while around 11:00 when they'd put out a few snacks
for them. Then they pleaded fatigue and went up to their bedroom. The
boys went up to Tuck's room soon after, whispering about what Tuck figured
his parents were really going to do in their room.

"You know what would be fun?" Bobby asked.

"What?" Tuck said in return.

"Jacking into the New Year," he giggled.

"You mean like starting a few minutes before midnight and holding back
until the clock strikes?"

"Yeah. We could get into it about 11:55 and try to shoot the first shot
seconds before 12:00 and continue into next year."

"That's pretty sexy," Tuck agreed. "It would be even more fun to do it
with girls."

"Well, duh! But do you see any chicks around?"

"No, I wish I had Karle here tonight."

"Do you think that was real or were you dreaming it?"

"I'm not sure. I guess it probably was a dream. At least it was a wet
one!"

"So do you still want to do it? It's almost midnight."

"Yeah, I guess we're stuck with making love to our hands. Let me get a
towel to put between us so we don't make a mess on the floor."

----------

Devin was having the time of his life with his newly acquired friends. He
couldn't believe that they'd all been in the same high school class for
over a year and he hadn't gotten to know them in the past. They were fun
and cute, and he didn't have to be constantly on guard lest he say
something that would reveal his true self. If he hadn't blurted out his
secret at Tim's house, none of this would be happening. The New Year
looked brighter the closer it got.

Marla Roberts had made up a number of finger foods that she knew teenagers
would enjoy. Those were on the kitchen table along with paper plates and
trays so that the boys could help themselves and take food to the family
room or upstairs. She was pleased that they all chose to spend at least a
little time with her and the younger children. It was good to have several
extras in the house to help fill the void left by Chris' having to work.

Both of the younger children fell asleep shortly after 11:00. When Andy
offered to carry them to their beds, the other boys pitched in to help.
Marla got Maria settled while Andy stripped Tyler down to his underwear and
T-shirt and covered him with his bedding.

After that, the boys went to Andy's room to await the stroke of midnight.
Marla assumed that Tommy and Tanner would likely want someplace private to
kiss, and she wondered if Andy would do the same with Devin. They'd
probably all be embarrassed to do that in front of her. She went to her
empty bed, lamenting the fact that policemen didn't always get the holidays
off like people in many other professions.

Back in Andy's room, the four boys sat cross-legged on Andy's bed watching
a tiny TV his parents had allowed him to bring in for the event. Tommy
slipped an arm around Tanner and squeezed him tightly. Andy and Devin sat
close, each wondering what would be appropriate for them to do without
offending the other. The pinky of Andy's left hand was barely touching the
pinky of Devin's left. Finally, Andy got up the nerve to take Devin's hand
in his. Devin responded by giving a quick squeeze. They turned and smiled
at each other.

When the local TV station began the countdown, Tommy lay on his back on the
bed pulling Tanner on top. They began a serious kiss. Andy looked at
Devin for a cue. This time it was Devin who took the initiative. He moved
his face toward Andy's until their lips met. Their first contact was
tentative, but the second kiss was hot. The fireworks on the TV were no
match for the ones in that bedroom.

Tommy and Tanner had stopped their passionate kiss and were observing their
friends with kindly amusement.

"I think we've set a bad example!" Tommy snickered.

"Or maybe a good one," Tanner countered. "I think we should go downstairs
and let these two do whatever they have in mind,"

"Oh, sorry," Andy panted. "I guess I got carried away."

"No, we got carried away," Devin corrected with a smile. "I didn't mean to
push you into anything."

"Who's pushing?" Andy giggled. "I didn't see either one of us trying to
escape."

"Seriously, would you like us to go away for a while? We could hang out
downstairs so you'd have privacy," Tanner offered.

"Maybe it'd be safer if you stayed," Devin said as he gazed deeply into
Andy's eyes. "My brain doesn't seem to be working at the moment."

"Mine isn't either," Andy agreed.

They went back to holding hands, realizing that they were getting really
close to taking the next step and wondering if they were ready. Something
was blazing in their loins and they hoped neither of them would get burned.

The boys went to bed soon after midnight. Andy had given up his full sized
bed for Tommy and Tanner while he and Devin would be spending the night in
two sleeping bags on separate twin sized blow-up mattresses that were
spaced a few feet apart near his desk.

After the lights were out, He and Devin pushed them tightly together on the
pretext that they could carry on a conversation without disturbing the
other guys. Before long, they were holding hands again. Both were trying
not to rush things since they really didn't know each other that well. As
they talked quietly, Devin admitted that he'd admired Andy from across the
locker room at track events but had always assumed that he was straight and
hadn't dared to act on his attraction.

A few minutes later, Andy invited Devin to squeeze into his bag with him
because the room seemed to be cooling off. It was a very tight fit for two
horny guys sprouting hardons. Eventually, they fell asleep with Andy's
stiffy poking against Devin's butt as he cuddled up to his back. They held
back about going any further, but both had awesome wet dreams before dawn.

-----------

Tim ended up sleeping over at Melody's house due to the sudden onset of the
snow storm. No, he didn't share her bed. The house had a couple of extra
bedrooms, and he was given the one down the hall from her.

It had begun to snow very lightly around 9:00 and no one had paid much
attention to the weather because the storm had been predicted to go further
north. Even by 11:00, the local forecasters predicted that there would be
little accumulation. By midnight, however, the snow was coming down so
rapidly that visibility dropped close to zero. Melody's parents called
Tim's to tell them not to worry about him because they would put him up for
the night.

Shortly after the New Year had been welcomed in, electrical power in many
of the neighborhoods went out. That of course meant that many traffic
lights weren't functioning either, but it didn't matter a lot because
almost no one was venturing out.

About 1:00 a.m. Chris Roberts sat stranded in his patrol car which was
stuck fast in the snow. He wasn't too upset with the situation because the
weather was keeping most people from driving at all. He suspected that any
number of inebriated guys, who might have tried to drive regardless of
their conditions, were now sleeping it off on someone's sofa or floor
instead of being a hazard. At least he'd been able to radio the station
and someone was on the way by snowmobile to take him to shelter.

Without electrical power many furnaces weren't operating. Tark got up and
slogged his way to the garage to fire up the old emergency generator.
Dorothy's husband had bought it after an especially stormy spring in which
they'd often been without power, sometimes for more than 24 hours.
Ironically, he'd used it only once and it had been stored for at least 11
years. However, Dorothy had kept it serviced as was her habit.

Tark filled the tank with fresh gasoline and checked the oil, crossing his
fingers that it would work. The motor caught on the third pull of the
rope. Tark was elated. There would be enough juice to run the furnace,
refrigerator, and freezer. They could also use a few lights, but not the
range. Perhaps power would be restored before they had to do any serious
cooking. They could at least unplug everything else for a few minutes to
use the microwave.

Tucker and Bobby were glad to have the light restored so they could see to
clean up after their squirting into the New Year. Both of them were very
relaxed and fell to sleep quickly.

Unfortunately, the Roberts' household didn't have a backup system. Marla
got up to place extra quilts on her younger children, but didn't disturb
Andy and his friends. There were extra blankets in their room already and
she figured that they'd be able to find them without her help. She also
wasn't sure that she wanted to know about their sleeping arrangements. She
suspected that the door was locked anyway.

Sometime before Chris got home, the lines in their neighborhood were
repaired and the heat came on again. The four teens in the house never
knew there'd been a problem because they'd slept right through it sharing
the warmth of another's body.

----------

New Year's Day was spent clearing walks and driveways. Most businesses
that might have been open were closed, other than one or two gas stations
and a few grocery stores. It was mostly the mom and pop's places like
John's Fine Foods that opened their doors to help people out. In the
process, some of them made quite a tidy sum of money that day as long as
supplies held out.

School was supposed to start up again the following day, but no one was
sure that it would. Not only was there a question about whether all the
streets would be adequately cleared, but there was the forecast of another
weather system moving in overnight that might drop an additional load of
the white stuff. The kids were elated at the possibility of extending
their break.

The boys all went to their respective homes to be ready for school and
practices that were supposed to occur the following day. The afternoon was
spent doing bits of homework that should have been done earlier in the
break. By tomorrow they would hardly feel like they'd been on vacation.

Tomorrow didn't come. Well, not as far as school was concerned. During
the night, severe winds, along with additional snow, made the landscape
look almost as if no one had shoveled the day before.

When various kids looked out their windows, they knew without having to
turn on their computers or TV's that school had been canceled. A general
cheer went up all over town – from the kids, if not some of their
parents.

Devin took the opportunity to text Andy to see if he could come over. He
didn't extend the invitation to their other two friends because he thought
it would be great to get better acquainted with Andy without anyone else
around.

Andy said that he could come over after breakfast. He had a pair of
cross-country skis that he'd gotten for Christmas and was eager to try out.
It would be a good opportunity.

Devin told him to tell his parents that they'd be together all day and he
would feed him lunch.

For the most part, Andy had no problem skiing on walks and streets. There
were a few places where enterprising householders had tried to clear the
snow, but the wind kept filling those areas back in almost as quickly as
they were cleared. Most people simply gave up and accepted that they'd be
snowed in for the day.

----------

Andy removed his skis at Devin's back door. Before he could ring the bell,
the door opened and Devin welcomed him into the mud room.

"You can hang your things here to dry," he said.

He helped Andy out of his jacket and snow pants and then pulled him into a
hug, planting a kiss on his lips.

"Uh, aren't your parents gonna catch us?"

"Nope! They had to go into the hospital. It's not that far and Dad's got
chains on the Jeep. Didn't you see the tracks on the drive?"

"I didn't see much of anything because my goggles were plastered over.
It's freezing out there!"

"I'll be happy to warm you up," Devin invited.

"I'd like that." Andy grinned.

"Unfortunately we have to be good because I'm watching the twins since
they're not in school either."

"I remember you said you had a brother and sister, but I didn't know they
were twins. How old are they?" Andy said.

"Yeah, Nick and Nikki are five. Mom and Dad had a difficult time getting
pregnant after me. I guess I was so perfect that God broke the mould.
Well, they did the in vetro thing and two of the fertilized eggs implanted.
Since they didn't want to abort one, they ended up with a boy and a girl.
Their names are actually Nicholas and Nichole, but we gave them nicknames
almost immediately."

"You must have been about old enough to know what was going on when they
were getting ready to hatch," Andy joked.

"I got to feel Mom's tummy when they kicked. It was kinda cool and I never
heard the story about the stork because I knew where they were."

"It was similar with Tyler," Andy said.

They were interrupted by Nikki with a demand.

"Make Nick stop throwing my Barbie's down the clothes chute!"

"Nicholas Charles, come in here right now!" Devin ordered.

A minute later, Nick came in looking sheepish.

"What did I tell you about teasing your sister? Now go down in the
basement and get her Barbie dolls and don't do that again."

"I didn't really do it; I only pretended," Nick said, handing the dolls
over to his sister. "She started it by throwing my Lego down there."

"Nichole Cathleen, did you throw Nick's Lego down the chute?"

"Only a few," she admitted.

"Then you need to go find them and bring them back to Nick. It looks to me
like you started it. When you come back up, you'll have to be in time-out
for five minutes."

"Don't make me go down. I'm scared to be in the dark."

"You should've thought about that before you started teasing you brother."

"I don't want to go down there," Nikki began to sob.

"I'll go with you," Nick offered. "If there are any ghosts or ogres I'll
chase them away."

"Okay, let's go," Nikki cheerfully called.

When they were out of sight, both teens giggled.

"I wonder if we were like that," Andy said.

"I wasn't because I didn't have anyone to aggravate me at that age," Devin
laughed. "It's funny to see them mad at each other one minute and helping
each other the next. I think it's a twin thing.

Uh, could we practice kissing again while they're down there?"

"Okay," Andy said quickly.

The boys embraced and nibbled each other's earlobes as well until they
heard the sound of little feet on the stairs. Both still felt the tingle
in their jeans when they broke apart.

"How come he's here; is he your boyfriend?" Nikki asked pointing to Andy.

"Well, he's a boy and he IS my friend, but we say boyfriend only when two
people are going together, like dating and stuff."

"He's cute and I heard Mom telling Dad that she thought he'd make a nice
boyfriend for you." Nikki persisted.

"You hear too much!" Devin frowned. "Now go to your room for five minutes.
I'll put the timer on so you know when you can come out."

"Do you think she'll tell all her friends?" Andy asked when the twins were
out of the room.

"I'll have Mom talk to her about not saying things like that. Mom can get
her to do what she's told to. Uh, do you think you could stay over tonight
if school is called off again?"

"Probably. Since my dad and your dad know are already softball buds, I
think we can be together a lot if we want."

"I'd like that," Devin smiled.

"Me too," Andy agreed.
