As Tommy's feet hit the ground and the chilled autumn air hit his lungs he
realized he felt an odd sense of peace after Roy's revelation.

'This is just another test,' Tommy reasoned with himself. 'If I can handle
boot camp and become a state police officer, I can handle this too.'

"I'm okay with it Roy," he announced as he jogged down the sidewalk. "I
guess I'd rather be used by God than exploited by some asshole like Agent
Johnson."

"Agent Johnson is still going to try to exploit us Tommy," Roy
replied. "The problem is he no longer has the power...but he doesn't know
it. We'll have to educate him."

"What about Danny? I love him! I won't give him up!" he insisted.

"You can hold him, and you can kiss him, and you can love him all you
want," Roy assured him. "The only thing God has a hard time with is the
sex. You have to understand Tommy; God is a general spirit without a
body. To God sex is purely for procreation within the context of
marriage. God does allow recreational sex between married couples even
though he doesn't see why it's necessary. That is because he is a spirit
and not a human being."

Tommy wondered if it was possible for him and Danny to be together in a
sexual relationship and believe in God too.

"I can feel your question Tommy", Roy began. "Does God allow Gay marriage?
The answer is yes, but it's difficult. First, it must be legal. In some
places in the world it is legal. Second, you need permission from the
parents on both sides. After that all the same rules that apply to hetero
marriages apply."

"Okay, I can live with that, what can I expect?" Tommy asked.

"Same old shit, different boss," Roy shrugged. "You won't be asked to do
anything that you can't do. You will develop powers, mostly discernment at
first. You will also receive understanding. Think of it this way. You have
just been promoted from Kid Cop to Petiwan! We are soon to be the first
jedi-knights. Remember your bible school Tommy. God, unlike man, will never
ask you to do more than you are capable of doing."

"I understand that everything in my life has led me to this point. I'm cool
with it. Should I keep it to myself?"

"You can tell Danny if you want," Roy answered. "His parents will not
understand, better for them to figure out things on their own. They're
smart loving people and they love you very much. As far as the rest of the
world is concerned, the day will come for you to tell your story. I suspect
that you already have a journal."

"Yes I do," Tommy replied.

Tommy picked up the pace of the jog and Roy followed suit. Tommy felt peace
of mind. Even if the world was in turmoil most of his inner conflicts were
resolved. He had a clear vision. Roy also felt at peace. For years he'd
wondered how things would come together. Tommy was like the son he never
had. He knew he'd do anything for him. Neither realized that fate was
awaiting them this day.

After finishing their jog Roy told Tommy to listen to his thoughts. He
warned him not to act until he had thought them through and came up with a
solution. When Tommy got home he found Danny in the shower. He decided to
join him to save time.

The shower was small but not too small.

"How's the most beautiful boy in the world?" Tommy asked as he opened the
door, admiring the beauty of his soul-mate.

"Get in here and close the door," Danny commanded. "I thought we were going
running this morning?"

"You looked so peaceful," Tommy replied, "and I had a disturbing dream."

"You should have been dreaming about me," Danny said, smiling while
grabbing the shampoo and lathering up his lover's hair.

"I was dreaming about Roy," Tommy stated while pressing his body against
Danny.

"That's just sick," Danny laughed. "No wonder you're so frisky this
morning."

"I'm frisky because Roy said that we can get married someday and be
together forever," Tommy beamed.

"I'm all for that," Danny agreed, "but if we don't hurry up you'll be late
for school and you'll end up with your nose on the blackboard."

"I'll just write 'I love Danny' one hundred times and come out to the whole
school."

"Not that it matters," Danny sighed. "I won't be there much longer
anyways!"

"I will find a way for us to stay together Danny," Tommy assured him whilst
rinsing the soap suds from his hair.

The two young men finished their shower together and towelled each other
dry. Most of their clothes were loose fitting so it was easier getting
dressed with both boys ready to do something other than going to school.

After breakfast cereal and hugs and kisses from Danny's mom, Tommy and
Danny headed to school. Tommy's mind was still racing and questions were
beginning to give him a mild headache, so he engaged in more small talk
with Danny like he had in the shower. This interaction along with the
closeness and constant body contact they shared when they were alone did
wonders to remove Tommy's stress. He knew he'd have to work on not loosing
it every time he was separated from his lover.

After parking the car Tommy and Danny managed to keep a proper manly
distance between each other but that didn't stop the occasional intentional
bumping between them.

Tommy saw Kevin Mathers, someone the Principal had warned him about,
talking with two other teens. 'Marijuana in backpack,' Tommy thought,
'where did that come from,' Tommy considered. 'Roy told me to think through
my thoughts. If I go find Roy or Officer Lopez and search him now I'll lack
probable cause. If I wait until he puts it in his locker and then do a
locker search we only get him and he'll claim that it was planted. If we
plant a hidden camera around his locker we might actually get footage of a
drug sale. That might be enough evidence to get him to flip on his dealer!'

Tommy pulled out his cell phone and called Roy, "Hi Roy," Tommy said after
Roy had picked up after the first ring. "We need to get a surveillance
camera over looking Kevin Mathers' locker."

"I'll have Rick Lopez do it after class starts," Roy replied. "He's busy
researching known felons that went to Lombard High. He hates it; I bet
he'll be glad to get a break."

"Thanks Roy," Tommy responded. "I'll tell you about it later."

Roy, who was almost to his class, dialed Rick Lopez's number.

"Hello," He replied.

"Rick, this is Roy. I need you to find out where Kevin Mathers' locker is
and during class find a location to set up a hidden camera."

"I'm busy doing the research," Rick said sarcastically.

"You're going to be busy unemployed if you talk back to me again," Roy
replied while walking into his room and placing his briefcase on the
floor. "Look, get down here. I need you to bring several of the recording
camera systems down here and install it. Get the security guard, and
janitor, and anyone else you need and get it done. As soon you are finished
I want you to report to me. You got that?"

"Sir yes sir," Officer Lopez answered again sarcastically. Officer Lopez
had gone home at his regular time instead of working all night like he was
told. He turned off his computer and went to the equipment room. He found a
device and recording unit that he felt was adequate. He felt proud of
himself and decided to take as much time as he could before reporting back
to Roy.

'I'm going to have fun breaking this kid,' thought Roy and he closed his
cell phone.

He sat down in his seat waiting for his first period to start. Suddenly a
quick stream of video flashed through his mind. He saw an airline flight
attendant brutally killed, her throat slit with a razor knife. Then four
men broke into the pilots' cabin and did the same to them. Roy picked up
his phone and dialled a well-memorized number.

"This is Director Johnson, may I help you?" came the answer.

"Too late for that I'm afraid," Roy told him. "I just saw a plane being
hijacked. I'm almost certain that it was a real time vision and not
something in the future. The pilots were killed and terrorist are flying
the plane."

"Any clues as to where they are going, Roy?" Director Johnson asked.

As he was listening Roy's mind was suddenly filled with another vision. "I
just saw another hijacking on a different plane and no, I don't know where
they are headed. This is big. You better call the White House."

"The Chief's out of town visiting some grade school down south," Director
Johnson answered. He really didn't like anyone telling him what to do!
"Look Roy, let me check it out and I'll get back with you." With that
Director Johnson hung up and called the NSA information center just down
the hall. If Roy knew nothing about this situation, then it must be
something big. Roy had warned them that a day would come when fate had to
be played out.

Roy made it through his first period lesson when another stream of video
appeared in his mind. He saw an airliner crash into one of the World Trade
Center Twin Towers exploding on impact. He walked over to the telephone and
called the principal. He explained to her that he had an emergency and
instructed her to get someone into his class as he had to leave right
away. When he informed the class that he had an emergency and had to leave,
some of the students were disappointed as they were getting into the
lecture. Roy sensed this and it made him happy. But he wasn't happy for
long as his cell phone rang.

"Roy we are in deep shit," Director Johnson said.

"An airliner just hit the North tower of the World Trade Center," Roy
replied.

"No shit Sherlock!" Director Johnson shouted. "The old man is going to have
a cow."

"Look, the old man is George W's problem not mine." Roy stated, "I don't
work for him any more."

"We all work for him Roy, he represents this country to the UCC (which
governs the entire world) and if he and his stupid son hadn't agreed to
your blackmail we might not be in this mess!" Director Johnson screamed.

"Is this line secure Dan?" Roy responded sarcastically. Roy knew that the
Director hated being called by his first name. Roy only did it when he
wanted to make Johnson feel stupid. He took great pleasure in making the
Director feel stupid. "You don't want GW to find out that you called him
stupid!"

"Get to a secure line Roy, with a TV. There's video on the plane
crash. Call me back!" Director Johnson demanded.

Roy was on a conference call with Director Johnson and several other
members of the NSA and members of the Presidents National Security
Council. Dick Chaney was among them until he was whisked away as the Secret
Service realized that the White House was a target.

Meanwhile, aboard Air Force One, George Bush had just received a phone call
he was not looking forward to getting. His Chief of Staff, who was the only
one present, listened to the President's side of the conversation. "I'm
sorry Daddy. I know this is all Roy Dixon's fault. We should have never
listened to his demands. I know that UCC is in an uproar over the billions
of billions they are going to loose over this. Listen Daddy I'll get him
back somehow. Don't worry we'll find a way to blame Sa-damn for this and
get him out of office. Yes Daddy I love you too."

George Bush slammed down the phone and picked it back up. "Get me Director
Johnson on the line," he shouted to his personal secretary.

The phone in front of Director Johnson rang. He knew before it lit up that
it was the President's private line as he was the only one he hadn't talked
to yet. He knew the President would be upset. He informed everyone on his
conference call to wait for a minute and placed them on hold so he could
have privacy. Then he motioned for the staff to clear the room before he
picked up the phone.

Bush started out the conversation shouting at him, which is how he talked
to people when he was in a good mood. Now he was screaming, "Damn it
Johnson this is all Dixon's fault. Where in the hell is he? Wherever he is
we are both on our way right now. Get your ass over to the Air Force base
and I'll have a flight waiting to take you to him. I'll meet you there. Now
where the hell is he?"

"You'll need to fly to O'Hare in Chicago Mr. President," Director Johnson
answered. "Dixon's working undercover in a High School near the
Airport. He's working out of a local State Police post. The Secret Service
can arrange a helicopter to take you directly from the Airport to the
station."

"You mean he's working and he's not working for us. I swear if you weren't
a friend of my Dad you'd be Director of Antarctica after what has happened
today. You are in charge of domestic terrorist threats Johnson. You better
have a plan ready to get Dixon back on board before I get to O'Hare and I
don't want him knowing that we are coming."

During the cold war the CIA had worked with all kinds of psychics to try to
gain information about the growing Soviet threat. The result was at best
minimal when George HW Bush became Director of the CIA in the early 70's
and he wanted to try to use Pentecostals. He'd seen some amazing results
from several individuals but Roy Dixon became the star of the program. Not
only did he have the psychic ability, but he had Navy Seal training and was
in the process of FBI training when George Bush recruited him.

Back then domestic terrorism was a much bigger problem than today. Roy
Dixon was the reason for things being better. He worked alone and had
absolute authority over any foreign or domestic law enforcement agency in
order to curb domestic terrorism. Roy had an international license to kill
but he never found the need to use it. When he left the job there was
nobody to replace him.

George HW Bush always felt that developing Roy was the highlight of his
days at the CIA. He and his son also understood that one day Roy would have
a spiritual calling. They understood that was why he had the power to read
people, and see the future.

Tommy concentrated on his teacher as he was still lagging behind the rest
of the students. After the second Tower was hit, the events were announced
over the intercom system but class went on.

By lunchtime the whole school was a rumor mill. Tommy looked around for Roy
but he couldn't find him at his classroom or in the teachers' lounge. He
ended up having lunch with Danny and like the rest of America he wondered
where the terrorists would strike next.

Roy talked with Director Johnson until the President had called. Director
Johnson had come back on the line to inform everyone that he had to
leave. He didn't tell Roy he was coming. He didn't have to. He went back to
teach his afternoon classes. He found is easy to get his students engaged
in deep discussions about terrorism around the world.

After his last class he walked back to the State Police office. He was
disturbed that Officer Lopez hadn't checked in yet to inform him of the
surveillance camera being installed

He spotted Sergeant Miller looking put out as he stood outside his office
with his arms folded. He sensed that someone was waiting for him in his
office. He hoped it was Officer Lopez.

"You have company," stated Sergeant Miller.

He knocked on the door and heard a voice say come in. He wasn't surprised
to see Director Johnson. He was surprised to see George W Bush and two
Secret Service agents on either side of the doorway with weapons drawn.

The room was small, perhaps 10 feet by 6 feet with no windows. It was more
like a large closet than an office. Roy's desk was on one end with the
President sitting in his chair and Director Johnson sitting on the edge of
an old wood desk.

"Put the weapons down", Director Johnson said. "He's the one were waiting
for! You know why we're here Roy. The President has better things to do on
a tragic day like this than to wait for you to..."

"What's it going to take Dixon?" George W Bush interrupted. "This whole
fuckin' day is your fault," he roared.

"I couldn't have stopped this if I wanted to," Roy explained. "The person
behind this attack was Osama bin..."

Rick Lopez had taken his time getting the secretary to look up the locker
number. He really didn't like the way Roy had ordered him
around. Installing the camera was easy. It was hidden inside a florescent
light bulb. It appeared that the light was burnt out but actually it was a
camera and transmitter. No wires needed. He took all day finding a ladder
He mostly talked all day with everyone on the staff that would listen to
him. That meant he ended up at the school cafeteria flirting with several
of the Hispanic cooks in order to get some free food and attention.

He was upset that he had to report to Roy. He felt that Roy was just
lording his authority over him. He always seemed to get bosses who talked
down to him. He couldn't wait until he was able to treat the public the
same way.

He went back over to the State Police Post and walked up to Sergeant
Miller. "Have you seen Roy?" Lopez asked.

"He's in my office," Sergeant Miller replied.

He walked into Sergeant Miller's office like he owned the place, without
knocking, when his jaw hit the floor, literally. He couldn't believe his
eyes as he saw the President of the United States behind Roy's desk. He
heard Roy saying some name while he was coming into the room but he didn't
catch it. Suddenly he was tackled. He was manhandled and cuffed. The secret
service agent pulled him to his feet by his hair with a .45 auto pointed at
his temple. The President came from behind the desk.

"I think he heard you Dixon," The President stated while pacing back and
forth in front of Roy's desk. "I'm sorry son but I'm just going to have to
shoot you. You are a national security risk. Do you want the honor Director
Johnson?"

"Sure," Director Johnson replies while withdrawing and cocking his weapon
and pointing it directly at Officer Lopez's head.

"Wait," said the President holding up his hand, "He barged into Dixon's
office. He should shoot him."

"Not in here Mr. President," Roy replied. "Why don't you take him with you
and drop him out the trapdoor at ten thousand feet over Lake Michigan?"

"I like that idea Dixon," the President replied. "However with the luck I'm
having today he'd hit some Canadian fishing boat and they'd think we were
bombing them. Who in the fuck is this piece of shit Dixon and why is he
giving me a headache?"

"Just some asshole right out of the State Police Academy that needs his ass
kicked," Roy answered.

George W Bush got right up in the face of Officer Lopez. "I need you to
promise that nothing you might have seen or heard in this office will be
repeated," Bush stated.

"I promise," Officer Lopez said softly not wanting to upset the President
on a day where he surely must be pissed off. The whole time he'd been
asking himself what the President and this other guy, Director Johnson,
were doing in Roy's office.

"Go ahead and release him," Bush instructed him, "Get the fuck out of here
and I better not see you when I leave or you just might do a header into
the lake. And next time you enter you boss's office knock," he shouted to
Lopez.

After Officer Lopez was out of the room George W Bush turned his full
attention back on Roy. "If 'Osama bin Laden' is behind this," the President
began, "which we also have reason to believe, then we need to go into
Afghanistan and get him."

"You'll never find him in those mountains Mr. President." Roy
replied. "I'll tell you just like I told President Clinton. You'll never
find him. And if you do fifty will spring up to replace him. The war of
east against west has begun."

"Come on Dixon," George W Bush said, "that can't happen until you find this
partner of yours."

"I met him a while back," Roy replied, "it was confirmed earlier this
morning."

"I'm having quite a day," The President began. "First our country is
attacked by terrorists, who hijacked planes and used them as weapons to
destroy the world economy. Our defense infrastructure has been
destroyed. Billions of dollars have been lost and you tell me that the
world is about to end and if we catch or kill the person or persons
responsible that fifty others will take their place?"

"It's not the end, it is however the beginning of the beginning of the
end." Roy explained.

"What-fucking-ever," the President once again shouted, "what are you going
to do to keep this country safe Dixon?"

"I'll help you out Mr. President, but under my rules," Roy stated. "I want
full control of my team."

"Since when did you have a team?" Director Johnson interjected. "You always
worked alone."

"I won't be alone, Tommy will be helping me," Roy replied with
confidence. He knew that he could get any terms he wanted and he played it
for all it's worth.

"Tommy," Bush interrupted, "that sounds like either some kid or some
faggot."

"Both actually," Director Johnson replied. "And a child will lead them," he
said sarcastically.

"You can have that stupid Mexican and bang him in the ass for all I care,"
Bush said. "Just get the jobs done. What do you need from me?"

"I'll need three months to train my team," Roy answered.

"Johnson?" Bush asked looking for his approval.

"That's fine with me," said Director Johnson. "I never thought we'd get him
that easy. We have already shut down all air traffic and have added extra
staff at all the borders. We can manage for three months before he comes
back on board."

"What else?" Bush demanded.

"I'll need unprecedented power almost as strict as in Lincoln's day. We
will need to be able to tap anyone's cell phone or landline without having
to get a court order. We will need special rules for terrorists. We can
call them combatants and lock them up for years without having to explain
ourselves. We need to imprison them outside the long arm of the judicial
system, either in Cuba or perhaps even in some old eastern block country."

"We'll see what we can do," Bush replied. "This pisses me off, Johnson. We
could have done this over the phone."

Director Johnson wanted to remind the President that he was the one
insisting on seeing Roy right away but knew better then to say something
like that to him. He did like to antagonize Bush, he just liked to pick his
own shots.

"You and your team will be in my office on December 11, Dixon," Bush
stated. "You have Johnson's number if you need anything else. We're
finished here," he informed his Secret Service.

Director Johnson winked at Roy on his way out the door as if to say welcome
back.
