This is NOT a true story, and although some of the characters may be based
off real people, none of the events in this story ever really
happened. Anyways, let's get on with the story.
Chapter Three -- What A Day.
Taylor returned shortly after, wearing the clothes he had taken
out. He also had put an Adio beanie on, to hold his hair out of his face.
"So what do you want to do?" AJ asked as Taylor sat down next to
him on the bed. It was sort of awkward sitting there, seeing as the boys
hardly knew each other.
"Do you want to play some video games or something? I have all of
the Tony Hawks for PS2, and I have a few other sports games" he said as he
started running through his stack of games. "Here's football, baseball,
soccer..."
"I love soccer, let's play that" AJ said, happy that Taylor had
something he could actually play.
Taylor plugged up another controller and started up the game. It
was Konami's "Winning Eleven 9" which, along with FIFA 06, was probably the
best soccer game out on PS2 at the time, and one of AJ's favorite games.
The game started and AJ quickly took the lead, scoring a nice goal
after obliterating Taylor's defense.
"Well I guess I don't need to go easy on you" Taylor said and
smirked.
"Yeah, guess not" AJ said, also smirking, he had never lost at this
game in his life. The game went back and forth between the two boys, both
scoring multiple goals on the other. Both had amazing offensive skills on
the joysticks, but neither defense could hold against the others. The score
ended up being a ridiculously high, 23, to 24, AJ winning. That many goals
in soccer are un-herd of, but then again, it was a video game.
After AJ finished bragging about his win, the boys switched to Tony
Hawk's American Wasteland, and It was Taylor's turn to brag. He destroyed
AJ and ended up beating him in "High Score" by over two hundred thousand
points. After Taylor finished with his bragging rights, the boys were once
again stuck on what to do next.
"We could play some more video games" Taylor suggested.
"Eh. I don't know. I sort of want to do something more active, yah
know?" AJ replied. He wanted to get outside, he loved being outside.
"Can you skateboard?" Taylor asked, a small grin tugging at his
cheeks.
"Not once in my life have I stepped foot on a skateboard" AJ
laughed.
"Good, then I can teach you" Taylor grinned and walked to his
closet. He slid open the closet door and pulled out his skateboard. The
same one he had when AJ and he first met. It was a Rodney Mullen Almost
deck, with Almost wheels and Tensor trucks. He then reached in and pulled
out another board. It looked older, the grip-tape was peeling up at the
edges and there were chips off wood missing from the deck.
"You can use my old board. It's still pretty good, and all broken
in and ready for you." Taylor said, handing the board to Taylor.
"What makes you think I want to set foot on this deathtrap?" AJ
laughed again, handing the board back to Taylor.
"Because I said so." Taylor retorted with forceful power in his
voice. He shoved the board back at AJ.
"Uh, last time I checked, I was the oldest one here. You should
respect your elders." AJ countered.
"Yeah, but last time I checked, you're not that much bigger than
me, and I bet I could take you. I only listen to people that are BIGGER
than me, not just older, and you sir, look just as old as me, if not
younger.
"Oh yeah?" AJ said, standing up and pushing Taylor lightly on the
shoulder.
"Yeah!" Taylor said, pushing back twice as hard.
"Oh, is it a fight you want?" AJ returned with a push even harder.
"YEAH!" Taylor laughed, and with that he tackled AJ onto the bed
behind him. AJ rolled away and tried to push Taylor's face down onto the
pillow, but Taylor was apparently pretty agile. He twisted away from AJ and
ended up rising up on his knees behind him. He dove at him and knocked him
down. AJ couldn't believe the strength the young kid had, and was now
wishing he hadn't been slacking off in Sports PE lately.
AJ quickly tried to roll away, but Taylor locked his arms around
him and held him down to the bed. AJ then tried to use his legs to reverse
the move, but Taylor was two quick. He spun around on AJ's body and put him
in a head lock, then wrapped his legs around his waist so that he couldn't
moved without adding pressure to his neck, cutting off his air supply.
"Oh, and by the way, I'm on my school wrestling team, and I've
never lost. Do you give in?" Taylor laughed in victory.
"YES!" AJ managed to get out between gags.
"And you'll skateboard with me?" Taylor asked.
AJ thought about this. He really had never skateboarded before, and
didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of the younger kid. But, he
had pretty much already done that, so what could it hurt. "Sure" he
answered.
Taylor released his hold and got up and retrieved his
skateboard. "Come on" he said and turned to walk out the door. "Oh, and try
not to poke me with that on the way down the stairs." He laughed, pointing
down at AJ's lap.
AJ looked down, and sure enough, his blue jeans were tented in the
front. He blushed from the extreme embarrassment he was feeling and
adjusted himself, and Taylor just laughed and walked out the door. Cursing
himself silently, AJ picked up the older skateboard and followed him. He
still couldn't understand what was going on with him.
Once outside, and once AJ was back to "normal", Taylor jumped on
his board. He rolled part way down the street then turned and came
back. His boarding was smooth and fluid, as If he had been riding for
years.
"Get on your board!" Taylor yelled as he rolled passed AJ again.
AJ sat the board down on the ground and stood on it.
"Now what?" AJ asked.
"Okay, put your left foot on the board about three inches from the
front, and the push off with your right foot. Get in a few good strides and
then turn your body so that your sideways, and your feet should look like
this." Taylor answered, demonstrating his actions on his own board.
AJ tried this several times, and after falling a few times, he got
the hang of it and was able to stay on his board. Taylor continued the
lessons for about an hour, and by the end of their session, AJ was able to
ride a skateboard. He couldn't' do any tricks, and his riding was sloppy,
but he was learning quickly. He was able to balance well and turn quickly.
"Your doing great for your first time" Taylor said as the two boys
took a break. It was now late into the afternoon the two of them were
getting hungry.
"Man I'm hungry" Taylor said, his stomach rumbling.
"How about we go get something to eat, my treat" AJ said, pulling
his car keys from his pocket.
"Sure!" Taylor responded excitedly.
Taylor went inside to tell his mom he was going to get something to
eat. And they were off. The boys went out to the local burger joint where
AJ bought Taylor some food. They sat down in a booth and began to talk.
"So yeah, what else do you like to do besides skateboarding?" AJ
asked the younger boy.
"Well, I wrestle, but you found that out earlier. And I draw a
lot." Taylor responded.
"Hey, maybe you can show me some of your artwork sometime." AJ
said, actually interested in the younger kids drawings, seeing as he could
hardly draw a stick figure himself.
"Yeah, maybe" Taylor said as he sipped at his soda.
"So what do you parents do?" AJ asked, keeping the conversation
moving.
"My mom is a teacher actually. She teaches seventh grade at my
school." Taylor answered.
"And your dad?" AJ questioned.
"My dad is gone." Taylor responded, a grim look on his face.
"Oh I'm sorry" AJ said, quickly feeling bad.
"I'm not" Taylor replied, a look of fury in his eyes. AJ noticed
and quickly moved on.
"Well yeah. My dad is a contractor, and my mom runs this little
craft shop down town."
"Oh really, that's pretty neat. You sound loaded" Taylor said.
"No, not really, we were just not hurting for money. AJ replied. He
had never really thought about it, but now that he did, he figured he was
pretty well off, and lucky for being so. His parents worked hard for their
money.
The boys finished up their food and decided to leave. On the way
back to Taylor's house, they drove by the movie theater.
"Hey, do you want to see a movie?" AJ asked Taylor.
"Uh, sure I guess so." Taylor replied, and with that they pulled into
the theater. They went in and bought tickets for some new comedy flick
that was out. They shared some laughs, and before they knew it, the movie
was over and they were back in the car.
AJ drove Taylor back to his house, and were about to get out when he
turned and looked at AJ.
"Hey, uhm. Do you want to spend the night? I'm sure my mom wouldn't
care." He asked, the most innocent smile appearing on his face.
"Uh, yeah sure. I'll have to call my parents and ask them" he said,
getting out his cell phone. He called them up and after a few minutes of
negotiating, and explaining to them where he would be, he got the OK. He
hung up the phone and smiled.
"I can stay over but I have to go home and get a few things."
"Ok, I'll go talk to my mom and double check that you can." He said.
"Alright, here's my cell phone number" AJ said as he reached in his
glove box for a piece of paper. He wrote the number and gave it to Taylor.
Taylor got out and disappeared into the house.
AJ drove away and was almost home when his phone rang. He answered
it and heard Taylor's voice on the other line.
"She said it's ok." He said as AJ pulled into his driveway.
"Ok cool. I'll be back over in a little bit." AJ hung up the phone
and ran inside. He grabbed a change of clothes, a pair of shorts to sleep
in, and a few video games from his stack. He said bye to his parents, and a
few minutes later, he was back at Taylor's house.
It was still pretty early, around six in the evening. The boys went
up to Taylor's room and sat on the bed.
"So, how did you enjoy our first day?" Taylor said, laughing at his own
joke.
"Uhm, I wasn't under the impression that we were on a date." AJ
responded, laughing as well.
"Oh come on, you met my mom, and then you took me out for dinner, well,
lunch, and a movie. Come on! That sounds like a textbook date to me" Taylor
laughed more.
"Well, if you look at it that way," AJ also began laughing more.
After a few moments, the boys settled down and got back to playing some
video games like earlier. AJ once again, AJ gloated after beating Taylor in
soccer, and then Taylor cleaned house when they switched to Tony Hawk's
American Wasteland. They then played a few of the games that AJ had brought
from his house.
After a while, Taylor's mom came in to tell them she was going to
bed. The boy's went out to the living room and so they could use the bigger
TV. They watched Taylor's favorite movie, Scarface, and by the time that
was over, it was getting pretty late into the night.
"Maybe we should get some sleep?" Taylor said, setting down his
controller.
"Yeah maybe." AJ said, yawning as he spoke.
The boys got up and crept back to Taylor's room. Once inside, and the
door was shut, AJ asked turned to Taylor
"Where should I sleep?" he asked.
"Durr. I have a queen sized bed. You can sleep next to me." Taylor
answered as he climbed up under the covers.
"Oh. Ok then." He had a sudden happy feeling, but pushed it away, still
not understanding fully the feelings he was having for Taylor. He climbed
up under the covers with Taylor, and Taylor hit the bed-side lamp. Darkness
filled the room, except from the moonlight coming in from the window.
The boys talked for a bit about school and stuff, but eventually it
became quit. AJ was about to go to sleep when he heard Taylor speak again.
"Hey AJ. Can I trust you?"
"I don't know, I guess a pretty trustworthy person" AJ said, as he
closed his eyes, not understanding the question. He was about to drift off
when he heard Taylor sob.
"Uh. Dude, are you ok? Are you crying?" AJ asked, putting his hand
on Taylor's shoulder. Taylor rolled over, and AJ could see his tear
stricken face in the moonlight.
"Shit dude, what's wrong?"
Taylor sobbed again and started.
"I've never told anyone this, but when I was younger, around eight
or nine, my dad used to hit me. And he did other things too. Things that a
father should never do to his son. Every night he would come home drunk,
and my mom would be gone at work, or out with some friends, and he would
come into my room. And he would make me take my clothes off. And if I
resisted, he would beat me. "
"Dude, what the fuck? That's sick! Your mom never found out?" AJ
asked anger in his voice. He couldn't believe somebody would do that to
that to their own son.
"She did. And threw him out and called the cops. A few days later
they picked him up outside my school. Apparently he was waiting for me to
get out. He had a gun in the back seat and ropes and stuff. If they
wouldn't have found him, I could be dead." Taylor said as he began sobbing
uncontrollably.
"Oh my god." AJ whispered. Stunned. He didn't know what to do. He
put his hand gently on Taylor's shoulder, and got an unexpected
response. Taylor pulled himself close to the older boy and put his arms
around him, hugging him tightly and crying into his chest. AJ had no idea
how to react, so he just lightly stroked the boys back.
"I'm so sorry I brought it up man." AJ said, still in shock of what
he was just told.
"It's ok, he's in jail now. And I'm just glad I was able to tell
somebody." Taylor said. His cries and sobs becoming more spread out.
AJ just held him as he cried himself to sleep. His chest was soaked
from the boys tears, but he didn't care. He held on tightly and lightly
kissed him on the head, before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep,
thinking to himself, What a day.
So that's it for chapter three. Sorry for the delay, but I had some
stuff to work on, and a busy weekend kept me from actually being able to
write when I wanted to. I know the chapter seemed a little rushed at some
points, but I didn't want to have the story drag on for too long. Overall,
I enjoyed writing this one, things are starting to get emotional for the
boys, and over time, it's getting easier for me to write. Hit me up with
what you think. ATwriter06@yahoo.com . I try to answer all e-mails within
a day or two. Oh. And I have a yahoo group now that I might start putting
the stories on. Tell me if you're interested and I'll include the link.
