STANDARD DISCLAIMER: This is the continuation of David's story. One of two
boys loving each other. So the same disclaimer applies. If you can't
handle that, or it's illegal to read this in your area, or you're underage,
then now is the time to leave. If you continue reading after that
admonishment, Nifty and I aren't responsible.

There could also be incidents of unprotected sex. As always, I don't
condone this practice - especially in this day and age.

I've received some mail with a 'too good to be true' theme again. LOL

As I've said before, the 70's and 80's were a different time - different
attitudes, different beliefs.

FROM CHAPTER 10

David looked at their intertwined fingers and shrugged, "Let's roll then."
He slipped his arm across Chad's shoulders, still grasping the teen's hand
and they walked back to the car. As David pulled away from the shoulder,
Chad slid over next to him, pulling David's arm across his shoulders. He
laughed quietly, then asked, "So, can I come over this weekend?"

David laughed and squeezed Chad's shoulders. "What do you think?"

LIFE GOES ON - DAVID AND CHAD #11 - Lessons Learned

David woke up before the alarm on Thursday morning. He smiled thinking
that the number of times he'd done that could be counted on one hand. He
stretched under the blankets, then relaxed again, his mind going back to
the previous evening. He shivered a little as he thought about how close
he had come to losing Chad. They had spent the rest of the evening driving
and talking about 'this boyfriend stuff,' as Chad so eloquently put it.

This time, David let Chad do the talking, and he listened. He learned a
lot. Chad didn't know if he was 'queer' or not, just knew he enjoyed the
time he spent with David. He said he still liked girls, but couldn't
relate to them like he could to Dave. David smiled to himself, that 'old
mind' again. As they drove, Chad had slid next to David, assuming their
normal positions. David also realized that Chad had his 'act together'
more than some of the older people he knew. Chad had been trying his best
to get through David's shell, and when he finally did, David admitted to
the teen that it had scared the hell out of him. Then Chad had asked about
Kelly.

"So what was it like? I mean with Kel?"

"Hard to describe really," David answered thoughtfully, his eyes on the
road in front of them. "I mean it was kind of weird, but real nice. We
could tell each other anything."

"Weird?"

"Yeah, like you said the other morning, it was like nothing else mattered."

"So you never really answered my question, why'd you take the necklace
off?"

"Well, I guess I thought it was sort of unfair. I mean, ummm, we're
together and it just seemed like you would think that you were taking his
place." He slapped his hand on the steering wheel. "I don't know how to
explain it."

Chad laughed against his side, "S'ok, makes a little sense."

"Thanks," David snorted. "Never was too good at words."

"I kinda figured that out," Chad answered, snuggling tighter against him.

"And, you know, I almost called you when I found your note under the
picture that morning. When did you do that?"

Chad laughed, "Before you woke up. You sleep real heavy, know that?"

"Well, I don't do mornings too well."

"Duh."

"But, it meant a lot."

The alarm jolted him out of his reverie. Reality strikes. He slipped out
of bed, took a shower and was at work 15 minutes early with a smile on his
face, surprising himself and his co-workers who were used to him grumbling
in a few minutes before eight. Jokingly redirecting the standard "she must
have been good" comments, he was in a good mood the rest of the day.

On the way home, he decided to slip by the mall to waste some time. He had
a basic idea of what he wanted, but a little window shopping made up his
mind. He put down a fifty- dollar deposit - the sale didn't start until
tomorrow - that was all he had until tomorrow anyway, and started driving
home. Grabbing the mail from the box, he thumbed through it as he walked
to his door. His attention elsewhere, he almost stumbled and fell when he
ran into something on his stoop.

"That's a heckuva greeting for your favorite sister," Lynn complained,
standing up and rubbing her thigh.

"My only sister. Thank God for small miracles," he joked back.

"Where have you been anyway? Don't you normally get home sooner than
this?"

"I was shopping," David answered, unlocking the door and ushering her
inside.

"Cooking, shopping, cleaning, you'll make someone a good wife someday,
bro."

David snorted, "Want something to drink?"

"The perfect host," Lynn grinned, accepting the offered Pepsi.

"So what can I do for you, sister of mine?"

"Actually, I came by to ask if you wanted to come to the house for supper
tomorrow night."

"Oh really? And whose bright idea was that?"

"Believe it or not, Dad's."

David looked at her over his soda, "I don't think that would be a good
idea. I'm sorta busy anyway."

"Dave, you have to get this all straightened out," Lynn advised.

"It'll never happen, Lynn. I appreciate what you're trying to do, but it's
a waste of time. And anyway, why is it ME who has to straighten things
out?"

"You're so stupid sometimes for a college kid."

"Lynn, it'll be the same as it's always been. You know Dad, never does
anything wrong, likes to get his own way - and makes everyone miserable
when he doesn't. You know, Dad." Then he gave her a wan smile, "I know
you're trying to smooth things over, but the hole is still there."

"You're not even going to give them a chance?"

"Maybe someday, Lynn, but they've had 20 years for their chance. That
sounds sort of cruel, but it's the way I feel. I mean I'll go over there
and it will be the same crap about moving back home, how much I hurt them,
we've been through all of it before."

"What if I told you that Dad said he was sorry?"

"Then why hasn't he called? Or said something sooner? The only reason he
wants me to move back is so 'I'll be under his roof' again. Too bad, so
sad, it ain't happening."

"Well, he feels bad about the last time."

"That's nice," David scoffed.

"You're not being fair, Dave."

"You're right, Lynn, I'm not," David admitted calmly. "I'm being a selfish
idiot. But right now, I have to take care of me. No one else is going to
do it. Right now, I'm happier than I have been in the last six months.
So, I'm a happy selfish idiot. That's probably one of the reasons I'm not
yelling and screaming at you. Just trying to make you see where I'm coming
from."

Lynn grinned a little, "A happy, selfish idiot? You have such a high
regard for yourself."

David chuckled, the tenseness fading. "Well, better to admit it than to
have YOU tell me the same thing."

"Well, I wasn't going to use idiot. I was thinking 'jerk'."

"Whatever fits," David grinned.

"So you're not coming tomorrow night?"

"No, I actually DO have other plans."

"Oh, I thought it was an excuse."

"See what happens when you think? Owww," he finished, rubbing his
shoulder. "I just don't think now is the time, Lynn. That's all."

"Jerk."

"Uh huh," David smiled back.

"So who is she?"

"Huh?"

"Your 'plans'," Lynn grinned.

"Oh, no girl you know," David replied loftily. "But it's not that, I have
to pick something up tomorrow night." Well, it was the truth...all of it.

"Okay, I expect details. And remember to lock your door and keep it quiet.
I'm sure the neighbors don't want to hear moans and groans all night."

"That's just wrong, Lynn," David laughed.

"If the shoe fits."

"Whatever. Don't you have something to do?"

"Oh, so now you're trying to get rid of me? I come here on a humanitarian
mission and get booted out."

"Oh, the drama," David laughed, holding his open hand over his chest.
"You've been watching too much TV. Told ya it'd rot your brain."

Lynn got up from the table, throwing her empty soda can in the trash. Then
she turned back to David. "Think about it, okay, Dave? Please?"

"Yeah, I'll think about it, Lynn."

"Okay. Well, have fun tomorrow night."

"No doubt about it," he replied, smiling.

"Okay, well, I'll see ya sometime, Dave."

"Yeah, you will, unfortunately for me."

Lynn just shook her head and climbed in the car, waving at David as she
pulled out of the parking lot. He returned to the apartment, his mood
somewhat dimmed by the visit. He picked up the phone and dialed.

"Hey, Mom, is Lynn home yet?"

"No David, she's not. Are you coming tomorrow night?"

"I can't, I have other plans. That's why I'm calling."

"Oh, okay," came the disappointed reply.

"But, I'll come sometime later, okay? I just need a little more notice,
that's all."

"Well, next time we'll let you know a few days ahead of time."

"Cool. Well, see ya later."

"Bye, David."

One mission down, one to go, he dialed again. "Hey Karen, is Chad there?"

"No, he's out with his dad somewhere David. Anything I can do for you?"

"Yeah, if you wouldn't mind, just tell him I won't be by until like seven
tomorrow night. I have an errand to run before then."

"Sure, David, I'll be sure and tell him. Everything okay?"

"Never better," David laughed.

"Well, good, it's about time."

"Yeah, it is," David agreed. "See you later."

"Okay David, goodbye."

After hanging up with Mrs. Murray, he started rearranging the living room
furniture, what little there was, until he thought the arrangement was
acceptable for what he had in mind. He had just settled into the chair
when the phone rang. Sheeesh.

"Hello?"

"Dave, how come you're not picking me up earlier?"

"Well, it's nice to hear your voice too, Chad," David joked.

"Yeah, whatever, so how come?"

"Just have something else to do first. You'd probably be bored, so I
figured I'd do it on the way home from work. Save me a trip."

"Oh, okay, well what is it?"

"A mystery," David laughed.

"You're a pain," Chad laughed.

"Stating the obvious again, kid....umm, Chad."

"You can," Chad said.

David smiled. "Tomorrow maybe."

"Cool, okay, what time you gonna pick me up?"

"Ummm, probably about seven or a little after."

"Okay, see ya." Then the dial tone.

The only thing that kept Friday from being a long, boring day was the
timber cruising expedition he and another forester made which lasted until
almost quitting time. He liked being in the woods and honestly thought
this was the job for him. A few hours after they started, David was
comfortable enough to do it on his own and actually finished the task
himself. They returned to the office in time to submit their findings and
after wishing everyone a good weekend, he headed for the bank to cash his
paycheck. He kept enough out for his purchase and to survive on the next
week and put the rest into savings. Glancing at his balance, he figured by
the end of the summer he'd be in good shape for tuition and books this year
- the grants and loans were a huge help though. He actually wanted to rent
an apartment off campus, but that plan was foiled by moving out of the
house.

Banking complete, he returned to Sears and completed his purchase. He
slipped the box into the trunk and glanced at his watch. Plenty of time to
grab something to eat and pick up Chad by seven. Five minutes before
seven, he pulled to a stop outside the Murray house. Seeing no cars in the
driveway, he walked onto the porch and knocked. His disappointment rose as
he waited. He knocked again, getting no answer. He knew Cindy was at
work, and the Murrays were going out, but Chad should be home. When there
was no answer after his third knock, he walked back to the car, glancing
over his shoulder in case Chad was playing a joke. Maybe something had
happened, an emergency or something similar, he reasoned as he drove back
toward the apartment. He'd call Chad tomorrow to find out. He pulled into
his parking place, and entered the apartment, leaving the box in the trunk
- he'd get it later. He tossed his keys on the kitchen table in
disappointment and started toward the bathroom - to be met with Chad's
grinning face. Startled, he took a step back, sending Chad into a fit of
laughter. "Damn, kiddo, you scared me. Now I REALLY have to piss."

Chad leaned against the wall as David took care of business and said,
"Well, I had mom drop me off. Said I'd wait on the porch and surprise you.
But I had this," he dangled the key from its chain.

David zipped up and turned to the still grinning teen. He shook his head
and wrapped Chad in a hug. "Good to see you," he murmured into Chad's
hair. "I thought something else had come up."

Chad hugged back briefly, then pulled away still smiling. "Surprise."

"I could do without those," David chuckled. "And speaking of surprises,
got something in the car."

"Coool," Chad enthused, heading for the door. David followed, grabbing his
keys from the table and opened the trunk. Chad looked at the box, then at
David with a huge grin. "You bought a TV?"

"Well, it was on sale, and I didn't want you to be bored, so...," David
shrugged.

"Wow, I can't believe you bought a TV."

David laughed, "Well, stranger things have happened. Let's get it in the
living room."

"I was wondering why you changed everything around," Chad said.

"Well, it's only a portable and one of last year's models, but it's color
and was on sale. Something to keep you entertained."

David pulled the footlocker out of the bedroom closet and set the TV on
top. After plugging it in and hooking up the antenna, he turned it on and
they sat on the sofa and watched a few minutes. Chad turned to David,
"This is cool. But what are you gonna do when you go back to school?"

"Well," David grinned, "know anyone who would be willing to take care of it
while I'm gone?"

"No way."

"Why not? Wouldn't it be neat to have a TV in your room?"

"Well, yeah," Chad responded a little shyly. "But how come?"

David shrugged. "Thought I'd do something nice for a change."

Chad smiled, then reclined on the sofa, using David's thigh as a pillow.
He stared at David for a few seconds, then broke out into a warm smile.
David returned the smile and slid his hand onto Chad's stomach, rubbing in
small circles. "Can we watch some more?" the teen asked.

"That's what I got it for."

"Cool," Chad replied, then settled further into the cushions, turning his
head to watch the program already tuned in. For his part, David wasn't too
interested in the TV, he continued to rub Chad's stomach, his attention
focused completely on the teenager using his leg as a pillow. He ran his
fingertips across Chad's neck, getting a smile and a gentle head butt
against his stomach. When the show ended, Chad rolled his head back to
look up at David. "Can I turn it off?"

David looked at him in mock surprise. "Chad Murray asking to turn a TV
off?"

"Well, it's sort of hard watching TV when someone is doing what you are."

"Entirely up to you, kiddo. I'm happy like this if you want to watch some
more."

"Nah, I'll just come over sometime when you're at work," Chad laughed.

"Wow, I really do rate right up there," David teased. After another gentle
head butt, Chad rolled off the sofa and turned off the TV, walking back to
stand in front of David, who was still sitting on the sofa. David glanced
up into Chad's serious face. "Why so serious?"

"No reason."

"You always have a reason, kiddo. So tell me." His question was met by
silence. Still looking into Chad's brown eyes, he opened his arms.
"C'mere," he whispered. Chad slid onto David's lap, sitting sideways with
his legs hooked over the armrest. David tightened his arms around the teen
as he slipped an arm around David's neck. "Now, wanna tell me what this is
about?" Chad leaned his head onto David's shoulder and closed his eyes.
"Chad?"

"You really need to quit worrying," Chad said into his neck. "Nothing's
wrong."

"Okay, I'm trying, but you're so serious."

"I just like being here," Chad admitted.

David hugged a little tighter in response and leaned his head over to rest
on Chad's. "I like you being here too."

"I sorta figured that out," Chad laughed softly.

"You're so smart," David teased in the same tone.

"I know," Chad sighed and snuggled his head deeper into David's neck.

"Well, at least you're modest."

"Yup."

The two sat like that for a few more minutes. Then David shifted so he
could tilt Chad's head off his shoulder. He looked intensely into the
teen's eyes, and smiled. Chad returned the smile and closed his eyes as
David's lips met his. David held the kiss, gently exploring Chad's mouth,
then slowly eased Chad onto his back on the sofa. He knelt over Chad's
body, then lowered his lips once more, one hand slipping under the front of
Chad's shirt. He caressed Chad's chest and stomach for a few seconds, then
pulled his lips away. He moved his other hand to the hem of Chad's
t-shirt. When Chad opened his eyes, he raised his eyebrows questioningly,
then smiled as Chad stretched his arms above his head. David slipped the
shirt off the boy's torso and tossed it onto the floor. He ran his fingers
lightly over the smooth skin, making the teen shiver slightly. "Tickles,"
Chad whispered. David changed tactics, wrapping his hands over Chad's
sides, just under his armpits, his thumbs brushing across the teen's
nipples. Chad's lips were partially open as he breathed, his eyes closed.
David paused for a few seconds, then moved one hand from Chad's side across
his stomach and laid his palm over Chad's erection. Chad drew in a breath
as the palm made contact and began to rub gently up and down the length.
David grinned as Chad slitted his eyes open. "Better stop," he whispered
hoarsely. David gave the hard flesh another gentle squeeze, then slid his
hand back to Chad's warm stomach.

He eased himself down on the cushions between Chad's body and the back of
the sofa on his side, wrapping an arm under Chad, and half pulled and half
rolled the teen until they were face to face. David draped his free arm
over Chad's hip, and used both to pull Chad even closer, once again
pressing their lips together. As he broke the kiss, he squeezed Chad's
butt gently. "That's my butt," he whispered, smiling.

"Yep, sure is." David continued rubbing. "Wanna move that butt somewhere
more comfortable?" At Chad's slight nod, he wrapped his arms tightly
around Chad, and with some difficulty, managed to rise to a sitting
position, pulling Chad with him. "A little help would be nice, you know,"
David teased.

Chad buried his face in David's neck and squeezed his arms briefly around
David's back, then sighed and stood up. He looked down at the tent in his
shorts, then grinned at David. "Look what you did."

David chuckled, and gently grasped the teen's hardon. "Yep, mission
accomplished."

Chad writhed a little, then pulled away from David's hand. "Stop." David
grinned up at Chad and pulled him closer again, one hand unbuttoning the
shorts and sliding the zipper down. Chad tried to back away again, but
David grabbed his butt with both hands, holding him in place as he nuzzled
the hard ridge under the briefs. "Dave, stop," the teen pleaded softly.
David looked up at his face again and shook his head, then almost in one
motion slid the briefs down and took Chad into his mouth, working his
tongue over the hard shaft. "Dave, I'm gonna..." Chad managed, before
David felt his balls tighten and the teen's cum was shooting into his
mouth. Chad almost collapsed over David's head, holding himself up with
his hands on David's shoulders. He moaned slightly as he came, then slowly
stood back up as his orgasm faded. David pulled off the now softening
shaft, swallowed, then looked up into Chad's half-lidded eyes and grinned.

"Liked that, huh?" Chad nodded and sat back down in David's lap sideways,
leaning against the older boy, resting his head on David's shoulder with
one arm around his neck. David wrapped his arms once more around the
now-nude body and hugged him gently. "Not gonna go to sleep on me, are
you?"

"Nuh uh."

"Good, wouldn't want that, miss all the fun," David teased.

"Uh huh."

David laughed to himself. Chad's orgasm must have really wiped him out
this time. Maybe they should have gone into the bedroom where it was more
comfortable, but this was fine too. "Love you, kiddo. Know that?" Chad
tightened his arm across David's shoulder in reply, then raised his face,
meeting David's warm smile. David raised his eyebrows and asked, "Wiped ya
out, huh?"

"Yeah," Chad breathed. "That was sort of cool, but I thought I was gonna
fall down."

"That could have been ugly. You would have had a lot of cleaning up to
do."

Chad rested his forehead against David's. "No, you would have. It woulda
been your fault."

David pecked Chad's lips. "Now ya wanna go somewhere more comfy?"

"Yeah, I wanna take a nap," Chad replied, then started laughing at David's
disappointed expression. "Just kiddin'."

David nipped the end of Chad's nose, causing the boy to jerk back and hit
the floor. David laughed and stood up, holding a hand down to the naked
teen. "Just kiddin'," he chuckled.

Chad grabbed his hand, pulling himself up. Still holding David's hand he
rubbed his butt with the other. "That hurt," he complained.

"Aww, don't worry, I know the cure for that," David grinned. "C'mon."
Then, with Chad's hand still grasping his, they started toward the bedroom.

Well, I told you all this would move a little faster. Trying to cram a
relationship into a few weeks has a tendency to do that. After all, David
only has about 5 weeks left.
